Not my favorite project management software

Mavenlink just isn't the best project management software out there. I would recommend Trello way before recommending Mavenlink.

Pros

For the record, I'm writing from the perspective of a copywriter, rather than a project manager. Mavenlink acted as a hub for all of our projects. All of our assignments, assets, and time management lived there. Every time I asked my project manager for an asset, she would always tell me it's "somewhere" in Mavenlink. I knew our documents were safe with Mavenlink, but finding them could be a bit tricky.

Cons

I found this software to be more confusing as a non-project manager. The user experience was less-than-great and I often wasted time looking for documents that were hidden somewhere deep in the Mavenlink database. The design of the software is also not very appealing to me. It feels very stale.

Great Tool for Time and Expense Tracking

Overall, I've had a great experience working with Mavenlink so far. It helps me track my time and expenses in an easy way, and is eons ahead of the previous tool my company was using for this purpose.

Pros

I work for a marketing agency, and I use Mavenlink to track my time and expenses. The interface is clean and simple compared to some other tools that I have used in the past. The documentation is extensive if I ever have a question.

Cons

Like many other tools, Mavenlink has a bit of a learning curve when first starting out. Some of the options are located in sections of the site that I don't find intuitive.

Mavenlink's customer support is very receptive

Pros

We suggested several features that Mavenlink was missing when we first signed up, and they were very open to discussion gaps in the service.

Cons

Ultimately, the cost of Mavenlink and the limited integration with our Quickbooks account led us away to another platform.

Mavenlink is Definitely One of The Best Apps Out There!

Pros

Mavenlink helps us keep an eye on the undertakings as they occur. Regardless of whether one individual isn't on a project's activity/event, the person has understanding and perceivability into it.

Cons

The interface is a bit of a challenge to understand. Users would need to spend a good amount of time and be really patient to master it.

Very Pleased with Mavenlink

Overall, we're very happy with our choice to go with Mavenlink.

Pros

Mavenlink is very easy to use and incredibly intuitive. We are able to measure for more in greater depth than we have been able to in the past. Keeps our teams in sync and on-task.

Cons

Some features are rigid. Allocations are not linked to project schedules at all. If dates slip, allocations have to be manually updated.

one of the good PSA Solution

Pros

* it has a good set of feature to become a powerful PSA solution.
* I really liked the project status reporting. We will get a clear view of project constraints; also PM's can add notes.
* It can integrate with a most of the mainstream 3rd party applications from Accounting, CRM etc.

Cons

* highly expensive
* high learning curve
* Only basic expense management is there in the app.

Very Pleased

Pros

Interface and ease of use. Simple menus and easy to navigate. Very strong resourcing tools. Travel expense is nice and plays well with other tools with integration

Cons

could come out of the box with stronger Material cost tracking for Construction related industries. Does have some hidden features (like approving time) that requires the proper set up to display. Would be nice to be grayed out and a note you need more set up. Would like to import Gantt directly without having to use a complete template set up.

Great PM Software

Mavenlink is a great tool if it makes sense for your company's budget. I'm not part of the decision making about purchases so I can't speak to the cost, but it seems mid level compared to some other PM tools.

Pros

Mavenlink is great for collaborative work and is very easy to use. I picked it up right away as a new hire and rely on it to communicate with members of my team at all stages of project management from initial concepting through the review and launch process. I absolutely love it for time tracking so I can see which projects I spend the most time on.

Cons

It would be nice if Mavenlink had a mobile app with push notifications. As far as I know, it has a mobile optimized version of the web for use on the go, but a dedicated app would be great.

Awesome choice for working on marketing and advertising

Pros

There will be no doubt about agilities that Mavenlink offers with being implemented. The tool has many features that not only allow managing existing problems, but also can make sure of preventing from those in the future. This product is just as good as it is described by a vendor. Don’t rush while managing your account’s settings and setting everything up in terms of correct and appropriate customization. That alone will reduce time needed for learning countless number of how-to stuff. Also I recommend giving your team a chance to get involved in learning processes together, not separately.

Cons

Speaking of learning hours, by the way, it’s good that Mavenlink offers so many opportunities for building up a learning curve, but I personally feel a lack of efficiency at this point. Another drawback concerns comments, which can’t be edited after having been posted once.

Mavenlink provide time and project management features in one platform

Pros

Adding projects to Mavenlink is easy and can be done relatively quickly. Adding users and assigning their roles is also fast and easy. I can then invite users to individual projects that they are involved in, while keeping them off projects they're not. This helps reduce confusion for all parties and simplifies their view able project lists.

Cons

It is expensive for small businesses like ours to maintain after the initial discounted year. Larger companies will likely benefit from volume licensing, unfortunately that's not available for us.

Good Software with potential

The chat feature is awesome if you have an easy fix. However, you are assigned a Client Success Manager for the more difficult requests. Overall, its pretty user friendly.

Pros

I like the time tracking feature the most about Mavenlink. Each employee must choose a project and the specific milestone they want to put time to in order to enter it on their timesheet.

Cons

I do not like that there you have to use "Groups" as where you put the client info. There is no quick click from the project to the client "group" page nor vice versa. It seems a bit clunky.

A platform that combines functions for tackling multiple issues at once

Pros

It is possible to work on a lot of projects of different levels of complexity without any trouble switching between. Dashboard system (a button that is above in the menu on the left) has all the rights to be called flawless in all senses. It is intuitive, extremely functional and can be customized if necessary. You can also search for a project you need by typing in key words and choosing date of when a project was started or finished. Mavenlink is quite simple when it comes to integration. Using it can sometimes bring some trouble in the very beginning, for a lot of things are to be spent much time on. By the time it’s done, though, there shouldn’t be any more issues as for program’s operation.

Cons

A master planning feature is pretty difficult for me to understand. Guess I’m going to take some extra learning hours to find out about its principles more.

Very receptive customer support

Companies that focus on CRM or SaaS might find Mavenlink more useful than we did.

Pros

- If there are features/settings that you don't have, the Mavenlink team was very receptive to implementing suggestions.
- Good time management tracking program

Cons

- Project management resources were lacking. We never used the project correspondence section as it was cumbersome and not very intuitive.
- Chrome plug-in crashed periodically

Permissions and great API access

Pros

Mavenlink has great permissions controls, which is great for big teams. Lots of ways to integrate with different apps, including the API, Zapier and their own connections.

Cons

It would be great if they had their own mobile app and a way to communicate within the app.

Great customer support with 24/7 chat box on their website that really helps a lot when we are having trouble using their software.

Cons

Its really expensive for startup company I believe better use other softwares that still does for us already with its free version

Mavenlink it's pretty good at what it does

This is the first job where Ive used the software. It does make getting reimbursed for business expenses fairly easy. It also lets you move the same tasks from one week to the next and adjust hours very easily.

Pros

It is very easy to compartmentalize your hours and expenses to maintain your budget despite having numerous different projects going at once.

Cons

Can be a bit tricky to get started depending on how tightly the ability to join groups is held onto.

Mavenlink Review

Pros

Tasks were easy to manage and duplicate as templates once imported into the system once. I really liked the feature where you could update project managers/admins on how far things were completed - saved up a lot of time and unwanted "Where are you on this?" emails/Slacks/etc.

Cons

It was easy for tasks to get muddled together. User permissions could be improved to not let just anyone provide updates within the project.
