MS Project - Robust and has local installations, but not user friendly.

Pros

Can be locally installed, and a one time fee for the license. Many project management software applications I see are cloud based and/or subscription based.

Cons

While it is feature rich, a lot of the software is not intuitive. To really get the most of the software, and utilize it correctly, you need some training to use it out of the box.

Lots of features making this product a great choice for PM's

Pros

All the cool features that come with this product; it has great visual appeal when walking through the progress (of the project) with stakeholders

Cons

For the average user, it may be a bit of a learning curve to get used to things, but stick with it.

A best product should be used to manage projects

Pros

As a person who is working in the Architecture field, I often work with Microsoft PPM to manage projects in our team. Such as:
- It helps us to organize and manage projects.
- Arrange and combine human resources to process our projects.
- Save cost, fee and maximize our resources.
- Export our reports.
- Improve our performance work.

Cons

It doesn't provide chat function and it's really a complex tool. When I used it for the first time I found it not easy to use for a beginner, it took me a lot of time to learn and familiar with it.

Microsoft PPM Review

Overall to handle a big projects and track daily activities it is very easy tracking tool

Pros

PPM is very easy to use and very comfortable to track the Project Activities, number of days for each task and it automatically adjusts the dates when we give number of days. We can also use the group/ungroup feature to track the sub tasks within a task.

Cons

It is easy to track individual tasks but as report it does not work effectively as we cannot see all pending ones and completed ones

Not a ton of value for non-PM professionals

Pros

Industry standard - good for creating Gantt charts and other basic timelines

Cons

Unless you’re a dedicated project manager it is rather tedious to utilize all features and functionality - free tools more effective oftentime

Functionality is ok, interface needs improvement

Not really impressed by tool, only used it because upper management and clients likes to see tasks and such in this manner and refused to look at ticketing system dashboard. Again, great for people who don't actually perform the work it seems. A pain for everyone else.

Pros

MS project works well for large projects. It works well for task management and sending reports to upper management about what tasks, percentages and due dates.

Cons

For everyone who is not upper management, this tool is cumbersome and takes away from actually completing task. The interface can use major improvement - it is not easy to pick up. For people actually completing the work and PM, tools such as MS teams chat (and just teams overall) work better (interface is definitely cleaner)

Pros

Anything Microsoft is going to be good. Project is not intuitive, but it is powerful when you learn how to use it.

Cons

There is a significant learning curve. I need a whole college class to learn it, but once I did, it was a great tool.

Microsoft PPM is a service that facilitates and improves the management of projects and portfolios

Microsoft PPM has given us many benefits from the first day of its implementation, it has a great variety of tools that have been of great help to make better decisions, identify trends, manage risks and especially visualize the performance and efficiency of our projects . This software has allowed us to increase the productivity of our operations and increase the quality of our projects.

Pros

Microsoft PPM is the software offers multiple tools and functionalities that make it the ideal option to manage projects in the Office environment. What I like most about this software is that it is extremely versatile and allows us to more efficiently manage the existing resources in the company. One of its advantages is that it allows managing projects of any kind, calculating the estimated time of duration and planning the activities to be carried out, as well as having a large number of customizable templates. Another advantage of this software is that it allows access to the project from anywhere, in addition you can create graphs and diagrams. Microsoft PPM allows you to plan small and large projects with high precision and efficiency.

Cons

The program can be a bit difficult to use at the beginning for any user without previous experience and this is due to the large number of tools and functions offered. In addition, its cost is quite high compared to other similar software.

Powerful tool, but can get overwhelming quickly

All in all, it is a very powerful tool. When used correctly, it really helps to keep all of the information you are trying to track together in one space. It has a pretty steep learning curve and can be overwhelming for many.

Pros

This program has a lot of power. There is a bevy of features available to users that can help track changes, scheduling, project progression and costs. The layout is familiar to users of other Microsoft products, and just about everything can be accessed fairly quickly and easily.

Cons

It can be very overwhelming. If you have one person steering the ship with this and everyone else using it to see the results it is very effective. Multiple users on a single project or process can quickly muddle things and there is a need for good management and computer skills to be able to use this software effectively. Nearly always our new users are overwhelmed by the size and power of this program.

From beginning to end

Pros

Microsoft Project is an excellent tool for project planning and scheduling. First off, as this is a Microsoft product, there are tutorials and online learning resources to ensure that you will always have support for any issues you may run into. Additionally, Microsoft Project works very well with the rest of the Microsoft Office suite.

Cons

Not entirely ideal for collaboration purposes as changes made are not reflected in real time for others. Without spending some extensive time utilizing learning resources, it is actually quite a difficult tool to use. This makes it very difficult for new users to "catch-on".

The simplicity of this software and the things that it can offer like how we can monitor every element on each tasks. Even the man power planning can be incorporated on this module which is very helpful and beneficial so we don't need to check into other software or system.

Cons

Maybe add some kanban system like color coding and more. Will just wait for the next upgrades to come.

a very useful and complete Software

My general experience with this tool is to follow up on the implementation of projects carried out by the company I work for. Also like to be able to determine the implementation costs for resources.

Pros

It is a tool that has considered all the areas of project management. Very complete both in the follow-up of the activities and in the own management of the project and its costs.

Cons

One of the biggest disadvantages of this tool is that you need to have a good induction to know how to use it correctly. And this Induction usually takes a long time.
