The standard in Project Management

Ease-of-use

Functionality

Product Quality

Customer Support

Value for Money

This has all the bells and whistles and has long been the standard for project management. Nothing else has come close. There are some SAS programs that are cheaper short term but in the long run you have to keep renting it.

Pros

Manage Time, Money, and Materials easily. Has everything you need to make your project run smoothly. It is what everyone else copies off of.

Cons

Little expensive in the short term but in the long run works out to be cheaper than the SAS solutions out there.

Wonderful Project Management Tool But Takes Time to Learn

Ease-of-use

Functionality

Value for Money

It would be nice to have some better visuals to depict project status. The program could use a 'dashboard' feature that could provide the status of a project quickly and easily.

Pros

Like any sophisticated software with lots of features, Microsoft Projects takes a bit of time to fully master. It has an incredible features that make it useful for a wide array of projects and plans. Even better, it seamlessly integrates with other Microsoft tools (Excel, Outlook, etc) making it easier for colleagues to collaborate.

Cons

It's not the most intuitive to learn. I would recommend taking an actual training course to ensure that all the features and capabilities of the software are understood.

I like how you can adjust timeline of multiple tasks, and when adjusting one can affect another. You can either manually schedule the tasks, or you can select to have MS Project automatically schedule the tasks based on the task data you input. MS Project also shows the final project timeline in a nice gantt chart for you to have an overview of the whole project. I also like the ability to add subprojects and linking projects, making it easier to see how one change impacts another in a different project. Reporting tab also gives out a nice pie chart or bar chart to show project progress.

Cons

There aren't many choices of nice icons to use, and adjusting fonts and sizes of the chart is can be frustrating since it isn't very flexible.. The row height is also not easy to get it the the right height for my usage, unlike using MS Excel.

Overall I would recommend that app, I have been able to put together a rough draft of a project quicker, saving time stress and can edit it to the likeness of my team quicker. Also, while using the software I have been able to view the project and show the process when asked. This tool helps us to administrate, develop and design projects of our company. Good analytical tool

Pros

This is another useful tool from Microsoft with the ability to create tasks and add resources to it. I love the filtering abilities, I am constantly using them for zooming in on what is critical whether in a meeting or working individually to update the schedule. This app provides you with templates and shortens the time you spend on putting things in place. What is also good is that you can focus on the depth of the information you are sending out rather than throwing something together and it does not appear professional and the information is missed. You can also invite your team into the project as well.

Cons

What I would like is an easier way to set up reports. I like that there are a lot of great features, but they are not as user friendly as some of the other Microsoft Project features. You will need to invest more time in getting trained, because they do look very helpful once you know how to set them up.
