Projectmanager.com is a project management software solution that offers applications including budgeting, time tracking, task management, document management and reporting.

Projectmanager.com also offers Gantt chart functionality that updates automatically. The software integrates with MS Project, allowing users to import MS Project plans and customize security settings. It also integrates with MS Excel, Word and Project Server, as well as Google Docs.

Tasks can be assigned with or without dependencies, and resource availability is shown for each. Users can create and customize multiple dashboards, while resource management functionality allows users to monitor the progress of specific tasks and reallocate resources as needed.

Very disappointing, they charged for 20 users, when actually only 5 logged in and only 3 actually worked with the system.
ProjectManager.com is not customer oriented at all.

Cons

Not user friendly. Real price ProjectManager.com charges clients is not clearly presented to customers.

I have used this for personal projects for many years and find it easy to use and manage on my own. Now the Big Test. I'll be using it with a team, and I'm looking forward to using the dashboard and other team functionality that's there. Plus it interfaces with Basecamp which provides related collaboration and task management features. They connect directly, so it should be a great fit for our growing needs.

Pros

Great customer service! The software offers excellent functionality and value, even for small ministries like ours.

Cons

Not always intuitive, but it continues to improve. There are some functions that take some practice, but are wonderful when you get the hang of them.

I am a student and began a free trial on their site for one of my class assignments. Unfortunately the software wasn't quite what I needed for my assignment so I never ended up using it again. A month later my bank account was charged for the subscription so I immediately emailed the customer services and asked them for a refund. Once I explained my story and that I was a student who needed that money, they gave me a refund in full for the money withdrawn. If anything, Projectmanager.com has top-class customer service. They seem to know what they customer wants and how to provide a quality service all-round.

Likes Least

I feel that it is unfair of me to say what I liked least about this product because I didn't use the product for more than an hour.

Recommendations

I would recommend that other vendors offer the same type of customer service projectmanager.com have adopted.

The best MS project alternative

If your used to MS project than this is the best alternative, it has similar features plus great team collaboration and best of all can be accessed anywhere and for a great price. I tested 12 of the best project software out there and few came close to rival this one, the implementation of critical path was key for us and a Gantt chart.

All the other software companies seemed to base their software around a list or a poorly executed Gantt chart which looked like a tweaked excel document

The vendor was great, showed us everything we wanted to see and all the great features. Response to emails is quick

Likes Least

The fact that you had to enter credit card details for the free trial almost stopped me getting this software, if they hadn't have called I would have never tried it. All other vendors give you a free trial without CC details but I now I regret not trying it sooner.

We liked it better than a very simple time keeping app that we were using. It does allow for more detailed project management. you can't expect it to do all of what MS Project does - it is not at that level. But it helps for teams and for predictable project management and time keeping.

Pros

I like the ability to create a fairly detailed project plan including budget and dates that are nicely mapped out in a Gantt chart. It works great for straightforward projects with a succinct task list and allows for the team to track their time to see a report on the budget for the project and the financial aspect of completing the project. I like the updated interface as well - it took a little bit to get used to, but didn't take too long.

Cons

I find the reporting to be a bit challenging. I would like to see reports that are a bit more flexible and can filter in and out certain criteria. This product isn't great to manage really long projects or challenging projects with lots of iterations. If you have a project that is iterative in nature and will develop as you move along, this set up makes it time-consuming to maintain.

Pros

Automatic Assignment of tasks and alerts and due dates helps immensely in keeping complex tasks organized and on-schedule.

Cons

Written helps are not very helpful - they describe the features but not how to use them. Tutorials that I have seen are mostly about general PM concepts- not how the software specifically helps. Tutorials that show how to use each specific part of PM.com would be great.

At this stage I am only on a free trail, but I want to be able to use it in my new role in the Organization. I am hoping to get the Business package bought in the next month. We will have ten users to start.

Pros

The way that it is very easy to use in all aspects. I Like the dashboard and Roadmap functions. The use of the tool that allows you to email a task line item is very useful. I also enjoy the fact that multiple users and projects can be using the account at the same time.

Cons

I would like the DASHBOARD to be able to be exported to our business Intranet site or SharePoint site for management review. Can this be done via the API?

This provides my team with a central data point for all our projects.

Pros

Love the ease of use and the quick, automated date calculations. The ability to put in vacations and holidays based on project needs is nice!

Cons

The reporting options could be a little more user friendly with better output for project reporting to upper management and persons not in the project team. Also, it would be nice if holidays would populate previous projects or if we could advise what projects should have the holidays included.

Being able to create reports with % complete.

Pros

The reporting features.
Being able to show Planned Start/Finish Dates, as well as Actual Start-Finish dates. (I would like to be able to "lock" the planned start-finish dates though, so team members can't adjust their own task planned dates)

Cons

The lag from low internet in when projects have a lot of tasks.
Only one person can update (in the project sheet) at a time.
The updating feature from "My Work" just lists the task as completed with the planned dates instead of actual date being updated.
The notification system not giving me an option to be notified whenever ANYTHING changes - I want to know right away when a task is completed by team members if I'm not assigned to the task.

A single product for planning our projects which are viewable to our teams.

Resource planning allow us to integrate our planning across teams to give us end to end plans whereas plans were only done for the individual teams.

Simple product to use making it easy for everyone to see what is happening and when.

Visibility of work as able to give ready only access to stakeholders across the business .

Pros

It is easy to use set up, use and share plans making working with the teams more cohesive. I also like the flexibility of being able to add custom fields. Teams are beginning to use the diaries to allow them to see what they should be working on and when.

Cons

It is difficult to see what everyone working on when you have multiple projects. There is not a single overview of the projects and task breakdown.

The plans don't take into consideration any holidays or leave so it is easy allocate tasks when people are not available.

It is fairly easy to use are the reports you can make are good and it definitely helps with managing of projects. The support team are very responsive and are goods at figuring out the problems and communicating solutions.

Cons

There are still quite a few glitches in it that don't allow you to get the full potential out of the software. Also there are some things like inputting and assigning resources against tasks that are long and very manual processes that then have many exceptions to the rule. There are also a couple of reports that do not give the required outcomes.

Detailed project planning and studio capacity management

Pros

You can manage a project timeline, allocate people to tasks and this builds up a studio schedule which you can use to check if people's time are well utilised. The reporting tool also makes it possible to forecast into the future to see what capacity the studio is running at. It is great that it is cloud based. You can set the working days of a person and the number of hours each person works, which helps accurately plan capacity. Linking of tasks is also a helpful feature to easily update project timings.

Cons

There are a couple of features I'd like to see incorporated, such as a different colour in the workload view for potential projects, and on the calendar RSS feed the project name needs to be included as well as the task name, otherwise all your tasks can come across with the same name (i.e. design, design, design,).

I would also like to see the styling improved when you save a project plans to PDF - as they are currently very difficult to read in this format and it makes it hard to share them with clients.

Able to keep up with many project, does not affect if they are short or long projects, love the dashboards as well.

Cons

it does not allow real time interaction with the team members in a timeline. If you are making changes and then someone else is, everything might be lost. (has happened to me before, even today!). Also reports could be more dynamic.... and APIs as well, not allow to get custom fields unless it is a closed project.

Easy to use, intuitive, nice interface

Pros

While at I did not go past the free trial (due to not needing it at this time, nothing against the software itself), I must complement the level of customer service I received. While there didn't seem to be a way to cancel the free trial from the platform interface itself even going to your account and it can be difficult to reach someone by phone, the service team was extremely helpful in getting my bill sorted out and money refunded that was charged for 12-months of the service. The software itself is very intuitive and easy to use. It has a lot of options and is a nice alternative to MS project. I would recommend this software for small businesses or small teams within larger organizations.

Cons

Having to set weekends as working days prior to building a Gantt chart and no way to go back and do it later. It's a practical default for most businesses, but not so much for academic projects or anyone that plans to utilize weekends for project tasks.

In general terms, this platform is useful and provides good coverage on daily basis activities and needs for project managers and PMO.

Pros

1. Based on Cloud Service
2. Promote collaboration and communication

Cons

1. Integration with MS Project is limited and simple (no lead or lag time, no columns with formula).
2. Customized Columns are limited (i. e. A simple List is not possible to set up)

Advice to Others

I think you should listen to your customers. Every time Support Team takes a consultation is a chance to learn about how and where the platform falls short with our needs.
It's not possible (in my opinion) to experience a new version and discover basic requirements absent in the platform.
Short Advice
1. Release a new version more often (every 4 months).
2. Take ALL responses from Support Team with content (Dev. Team). There you will find powerful improvements and more importantly, that we do need!
3. Establish a way to communicate with Support Team besides email, I mean, we're in XXI century (social networks, chats, the internet calls).
4. Support Team should be able to take control (previous authorization by customer) of client session in order to improve (a lot) support service.
