This feature wasn't available in Todoist. SkedPal's AI-driven approach allows for more efficient time management and better adaptation to my work style. I love the way it uses priority level, task duration, and time maps to find a time slot for the most important things I have to get done. #### Cons My only real complaint is how slow and laggy it is on both with web and iOS versions. For the price, it seems like it should be much snappier, regardless of how many tasks I have. I'm sure it takes a lot of compute power to run this app, but it's not the greatest value without that speed element. I think I would even be willing to pay a little more if SkedPal got everything running quickly. Without it, the app feels a little amateur, which is sad because the functionality and features are anything but amateur. They are phenomenal. That is the only reason I am willing to put up with the lag, at least for now. Great! It is the only to-do app that I have used consistently over a long period of time. Due to the calendar integration and intuitive prioritisation. Since it gives both a list based overview on top of scheduling to do's in your calendar, you really feel like you have full control over your to do's. It also really helps me think about whether something is necessary in the first place. I'm always a bit hesitant to embellish too much as it sounds unrealistic, but this software that has changed the way I think about my workday more than any other app, software or even book. #### Ratings breakdown - Ease of use: 3/5 - Value for money: 5/5 - Functionality: 5/5 #### Pros SkedPal really integrates with your calendar, and due to the ability to constantly reschedule is incredibly dyanmic. I have found it by far the best way to integrate my to do list in my day-to-day, and really saves a lot of thinking, planning and worry. #### Cons There are some small bugs, such as a flickering screen when switching between projects. It also does not feel so logical that you constantly have to press 'connect' and 'update schedule'. It might be nice if Skedpal could integrate even easier with your working hours as my workweek is very dynamic (updating the time maps week to week is a bit of a hassle, though doable) #### Reasons for switching to SkedPal I was constantly running into the conflict between appointments and to do's. No incentive was offered I used to have my calendar and my to do list. I would waste time sorting my to do list to figure out what I needed to do at that moment in time. I then switched to putting to do items in my calendar, only to not complete some of them and then end up playing daily Tetris trying to go grab them from past days and put them into future days, it was horribly inefficient. Skedpal acts as my assistant, aware of what I need to get done when, planning my schedule out multiple weeks and allowing others to see when I am available and then planning around those meetings. A huge win for me is seeing what my bandwidth looks like so I know if I can take on new tasks or meetings so that I don't overcommit myself. #### Ratings breakdown - Ease of use: 4/5 - Value for money: 5/5 - Customer support: 5/5 - Functionality: 5/5 #### Pros Skedpal is the most feature rich task and calendar applications I have ever tried. This means that the learning curve is high, but once you get the hang of it, it's amazing how well it flows everything together. Outside of work, I am a private pilot and Skedpal feels like a really good air traffic controller that can talk to planes (all my tasks and events) coming from all directions, at different speeds, different altitudes, different priorities, and line them all up "in sequence" so they land on time, in the right order and without delay. Skedpal saves me enough time each day I would be willing to pay well over $100/month for it. #### Cons Skedpal could improve (and I know they are working on it now as they keep users well up to speed on new features through the slack channel) their mobile applications. The natural language processing for sorting tasks in the programs inbox only really work well on the web app which means when I have a few spare minutes dozens of times throughout the day, I would love to be able to sort some tasks but lack the power to do that in the mobile app. Hopefully the new updates address that, at which point, it will be such a powerhouse application! #### Reasons for switching to SkedPal Skedpal has a far superior set of tools and functions that allow you to really make it work for you. As I learned the software I kept wishing to have a certain feature, only to find it in the user manual and then implement it. With calendar/task apps this is critical because we all have our own workflows and if a tool is missing a key function it can make integrating the app into our lives difficult. It took me a while to figure out how to use it but after I did, it quickly became the main tool I use to organise my time. #### Ratings breakdown - Ease of use: 3/5 - Value for money: 4/5 - Functionality: 4/5 #### Pros I love that it tries to mostly automatically schedule everything you have on your plate, saving you time. #### Cons It takes a while to learn how to set things up and even after using it for a a few months I feel like I haven't quite mastered it. It's also not great at handling tasks that repeat at an exact time, rather than being flexible. I also don't like that you have to sync your tasks to a calendar to get notifications. I would rather get them directly from the app. I would also like a way to have custom colours for my different categories of tasks. It is so easy to add tasks, events, re-prioritize and easily re-plan what is next. It also helps me see whether I can get my planned work done in a certain time frame or reprioritize. #### Cons It can take a bit to figure out! I feel like I am still learning the ins and outs of different features and occasionally I will want to do something that the platform does not do. That being said, the number of features and functionalities are incredible. I consider myself a fairly tech-savvy person and I love trying out new tools. I recommend this to others, but I know the complexity of the system would be overwhelming for certain colleagues - so it may not be for everyone! #### Reasons for switching to SkedPal I wanted my to-do's to appear as time blocks on my calendar. I tried manually time blocking my time but it was a lot of effort and time. It allows me to have a clear view of how much work is on my plate when I discuss new projects with my manager, and more readily discuss timelines. I enter tasks with start and/or due dates, and give SkedPal access to see my calendar, as well as time maps for scheduling certain types or categories of work. SkedPal puts together a schedule for me and generates a calendar. Poof! I know what to do and when to do it. AND it tells me if I'm over-booking myself, or if I skip a task, it will reschedule it for me. #### Cons I'm a fan of multiple levels of sub-tasks, which isn't currently supported (though I believe there are future plans to better support sub-tasks). There are plenty of ways to work around this, but it isn't ideal. Furthermore, (bug) sometimes two plans are added to a tasks, when one was needed. #### Reasons for switching to SkedPal RTM didn't innovate, adn didn't schedule. I struggled with task management for years to the point that the number of open tasks overwhelmed and blocked me mentally. I wanted to try time blocking and stumbled across SkedPal. I was actually very reluctant to try the app, as I didn't believe their concept could ever work. But I gave it a shot, and I was "converted" instantly! SkedPal has literally changed my life overnight. Now I can just throw all my tasks at it and feed it with my general preferences. SkedPal does all the rest. It is better than a personal assistant! I feel like I have more time than ever before. There are occasional connection drops after opening the laptop from standby.
