## Reviews summary

### Secondary ratings

- Ease of use: 4.0/5
- Customer support: 4.7/5
- Value for money: 4.5/5
- Functionality: 4.5/5

### Rating distribution

- 5 stars: 104 reviews (61%)
- 4 stars: 57 reviews (33%)
- 3 stars: 8 reviews (5%)
- 2 stars: 1 reviews (1%)
- 1 star: 1 reviews (1%)

### Most mentioned pros

- Saves me hours every week by automating the scheduling of my tasks and responsibilities around my fixed commitments; it's smart, fully customisable and adapts to my constantly changing requirements.
- The main feature is the ability to click an "Update Schedule" button and let Skedpal do all the math behind the scenes to deliver a plan to your day.
- It took a little while to learn how it works fully and getting all my tasks and habits setup properly but it has quickly become my trusted daily task and routine manager.

### Most mentioned cons

- After 6 months of usage I still struggle with understanding how it works and how tasks will be scheduled. But still, it helps a lot in being more productive, it is just not all that nice as the advertisement tells you.
- They are trying to blame their suppliers whenever they don’t want to help you.
- I think there is room for improvement in integration with microsoft, and dark mode has been promised since I've been a paying user but there does not seem to be much movement on actually adding that feature (which I think would prevent many people from using the app).

### Amazing product and concept but still has to work out some kinks

My experience overall has been good! It took me a while to figure out how to use it but after I did, it quickly became the main tool I use to organise my time.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 3/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

I love that it tries to mostly automatically schedule everything you have on your plate, saving you time.

#### Cons

It takes a while to learn how to set things up and even after using it for a a few months I feel like I haven't quite mastered it. It's also not great at handling tasks that repeat at an exact time, rather than being flexible. I also don't like that you have to sync your tasks to a calendar to get notifications. I would rather get them directly from the app. I would also like a way to have custom colours for my different categories of tasks. I have my own palette that I always use.

#### Reasons for switching to SkedPal

Amazing Marvin had some bugs that were annoying me and I like that Skedpal automatically schedules some things for me and then I just have to move them around if it's not right.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 3/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

I love being able to keep track of my to do list in a dynamic way that connnects to time blocking (and syncs with my calendar). It saves me from being as overwhelmed by my to do list as I was pre-Skedpal.

#### Cons

For SkedPal to work at its best, I have to be able to estimate how long tasks will take - which is hard (and pretty inaccurate!). There's quite a steep learning curve to getting up and running with SkedPal and though I'm functioning well with it, there are even more advanced things I'm sure I could be leveraging that I just don't know how to do - or how to get help to find out.

#### Reasons for switching to SkedPal

I learned about time blocking/time mapping in a professional development class and I was looking for a tool that would help me do this, along with managing my to do list better

### Best way to organize your to-do's

Great! It is the only to-do app that I have used consistently over a long period of time. Due to the calendar integration and intuitive prioritisation. Since it gives both a list based overview on top of scheduling to do's in your calendar, you really feel like you have full control over your to do's. It also really helps me think about whether something is necessary in the first place. I'm always a bit hesitant to embellish too much as it sounds unrealistic, but this software that has changed the way I think about my workday more than any other app, software or even book.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 3/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

SkedPal really integrates with your calendar, and due to the ability to constantly reschedule is incredibly dyanmic. I have found it by far the best way to integrate my to do list in my day-to-day, and really saves a lot of thinking, planning and worry.

#### Cons

There are some small bugs, such as a flickering screen when switching between projects. It also does not feel so logical that you constantly have to press 'connect' and 'update schedule'. It might be nice if Skedpal could integrate even easier with your working hours as my workweek is very dynamic (updating the time maps week to week is a bit of a hassle, though doable)

#### Reasons for switching to SkedPal

I was constantly running into the conflict between appointments and to do's. SkedPal organizes to do's really well, but above all, solves this problem.

Since using SkedPal, a task does not stay in my memory from the time of writing it down. It gives me more peace of mind and overview. It also gives insight into the unrealistic amount of tasks you plan. It forces me to plan and expect more realistically. Also, knowing that the moment I fail to complete a task, it is automatically rescheduled gives peace of mind. The important thing is to make a commitment to largely complete your tasks, otherwise it will only pile up.

#### Ratings breakdown

#### Pros

The ease of entering, organising and scheduling a task

#### Cons

#### Reasons for switching to SkedPal

Because of its compatibility with OSX calendar and extensive features

SkedPal really helps me to stay on track with tasks. I use it every single work day. The User Interface could be improved though.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 3/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

I really love the auto-re-scheduling - that was actually the argument for me to buy the year-subscription. To have it as integration with my outlook calender is really helping me to actually do the tasks in the timeblocks I assigned.

#### Cons

It's not really intuitive. There are so many options and you have to click every single one to find what is possible with it. Tasks can be created in various places, and they do not get listed in one single list. The priority setting sometimes is off, scheduling tasks that have a lower priority than others.

#### Reasons for choosing SkedPal

Because of the price :) Motion has a great User Interface but is way to expensive in my opinion. SkedPal is not as intuitive, but cheaper.

### Automates your to-do's

Great! They are very responsive and personal to any issues that come up.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 3/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

I love that SkedPal integrates with multiple calendars and other tools. It is so easy to add tasks, events, re-prioritize and easily re-plan what is next. It also helps me see whether I can get my planned work done in a certain time frame or reprioritize.

#### Cons

It can take a bit to figure out! I feel like I am still learning the ins and outs of different features and occasionally I will want to do something that the platform does not do. That being said, the number of features and functionalities are incredible. I consider myself a fairly tech-savvy person and I love trying out new tools. I recommend this to others, but I know the complexity of the system would be overwhelming for certain colleagues - so it may not be for everyone!

#### Reasons for switching to SkedPal

I wanted my to-do's to appear as time blocks on my calendar. I tried manually time blocking my time but it was a lot of effort and time. Skedpal automates all this and lets me focusing on "doing" instead of deciding when I will be doing it.

### SkedPal: Takes care of scheduling your tasks so you can remain focused

SkedPal helps me stay on track and have a better understanding of what my schedule is. It allows me to have a clear view of how much work is on my plate when I discuss new projects with my manager, and more readily discuss timelines. It also lets me get my tasks and the work of scheduling them out of my head, so I can focus on what I'm doing instead of being distracted by that sort of administrative task.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

Hands down my favorite feature is the intelligent time-blocking! I enter tasks with start and/or due dates, and give SkedPal access to see my calendar, as well as time maps for scheduling certain types or categories of work. SkedPal puts together a schedule for me and generates a calendar. Poof! I know what to do and when to do it. AND it tells me if I'm over-booking myself, or if I skip a task, it will reschedule it for me.

#### Cons

I'm a fan of multiple levels of sub-tasks, which isn't currently supported (though I believe there are future plans to better support sub-tasks). There are plenty of ways to work around this, but it isn't ideal. Also, right now SkedPal is primarily intended to help with the immediate needs and does not schedule more than 21 days out, which means I still need to keep more extended high level schedules elsewhere to manage long term project planning.

#### Reasons for switching to SkedPal

Todoist is a decent task manager, but was not helpful with managing the overall scheduling of my tasks.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

The (semi) automatic (re)scheduling of tasks is great

#### Cons

I'd like to be able to sync tasks with outlook-task and google-tasks, evernote, confluence etc. So adding tasks to the inbox via other systems basically, and then to have them scheduled in agenda via SP. Furthermore, (bug) sometimes two plans are added to a tasks, when one was needed.

#### Reasons for switching to SkedPal

RTM didn't innovate, adn didn't schedule. Didn't know it before SP, but after trial I was hooked.

I'm a very busy business owner / CEO / software developer / father. I struggled with task management for years to the point that the number of open tasks overwhelmed and blocked me mentally. I wanted to try time blocking and stumbled across SkedPal. I was actually very reluctant to try the app, as I didn't believe their concept could ever work. But I gave it a shot, and I was "converted" instantly! SkedPal has literally changed my life overnight. Now I can just throw all my tasks at it and feed it with my general preferences. SkedPal does all the rest. It is better than a personal assistant! I feel like I have more time than ever before. After years of struggling, I finally found my peace of mind!

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

- Super fast task entry with natural language parsing - GTD methodology included with focus view - Automatic re-scheduling of tasks after distractions or unexpected detours - Super flexible recurrence patterns - Problematic tasks are highlighted, no task can be left behind - Time maps enable perfect prioritization of tasks throughout the day according to personal preferences

#### Cons

There's really nothing negative about SkedPal. There are occasional connection drops after opening the laptop from standby. A quick app restart does the trick.

#### Reasons for choosing SkedPal

The automatic (re-)scheduling and prioritisation according to personal preference beats all other apps by miles.

#### Cons

I found Skedpal at a time when my client base was growing quickly and I desperately needed a more efficient alternative to a Trello board. Skedpal fulfilled needs I didn’t even know I had- like calendar syncing - and has made me so much more efficient at work.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

What I like most about Skedpal is that it takes care of the schedule juggling for me and helps me stay realistic about my workload and stay on track on a day to day basis. As a freelancer, I juggle multiple client projects with different deadlines. Before I discovered Skedpal, I would spend a ton of time managing my schedule and sorting out priorities. Now, it’s a much smoother and less stressful process. It’s such a comfort knowing I have a “co-pilot” in Skedpal, ensuring I don’t miss anything important and helping me keep a clear head.

#### Cons

Sometimes when I’m entering several project tasks in a row the text I enter disappears and that’s frustrating!

#### Reasons for switching to SkedPal

Trello is great for single projects. But I have nearly 30 different clients and unique projects for each one. Trello made it hard to get the overview I needed when I had so much to track.

#### Ratings breakdown

#### Pros

Automatic task scheduling is amazing. With the volume of tasks and projects I manage and prepare, it’s not always easy to keep a to-do list with priority. I like that I can create an outline of projects and then set dependencies so one has to be done first before another.

#### Cons

There are just so many features that it can be overwhelming to learn. It’s not a “dislike” about the software, but I’ve been using it for 2 months and while I have a system going, I feel like it may not be the most efficient way to use the software.

#### Reasons for switching to SkedPal

Ability to set different work schedules for different weeks, the SkedPal calendar doesn’t write directly to my google or outlook calendars, and I like that it is kept separate so I can separate work and life

SkedPal has revolutionized my ability to make commitments with confidence and avoid overloading myself. It allows me to live with integrity. Everything I do goes there. It is a critical tool in my arsenal.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

It has detailed task modeling and can deal with complicated projects and repetition. Natural language entry makes creating tasks quick. Time blocking lets me know when I will do something. It allows me to communicate with stakeholders. "I will work on your problem from 1-3 on Monday and will let you know more then." Automatic replanning deals with changes in priorities and changes in requirements.

#### Cons

Fully utilizing the software's power requires some time investment. I spent a few hours on the initial introduction, but it took over a week of use before I felt comfortable. Additionally, I'd like a smooth integration with my onsite Jira. It only takes an extra minute or two per task, but for the issues that my company tracks in Jira, it would be nice not to keep them in sync manually. Such integration is probably an impossible ask, however. Our company is stingy with Jira permissions.

#### Pros

I was able to get up to speed with SkedPal's basic features for my use case (organizing project timeblocks around meetings) quickly. It was not challenging to get my outlook calendar integrated with the app. I like how the ap functions intuitively for me- a list which can be color coded, tagged, and prioritized then moved into blocks of time that shift as you complete tasks. I've been using the app for ~5 months and have still not learned how to use the app to its full potential (I think with a little digging it would be really helpful for time sheets) and occasionally find myself not using the app because my priorities have changed quickly and I didn't change them in the app. Overall its a great tool that does take some time to get used to and take full advantage of.

#### Cons

I think there is room for improvement in integration with microsoft, and dark mode has been promised since I've been a paying user but there does not seem to be much movement on actually adding that feature (which I think would prevent many people from using the app). I also don't find the "help bot" in the corner of the app very helpful.

SkedPal makes detailed level task planning feasible, it's that simple. I have not found another tool that can claim this, and really back it up. Everything else I've used over the years has not really solved the problem of actually scheduling for your whole life. It's a game changer. I do a lot of Project Management in my life, and I've even thought about recommending the tool to folks on the teams that I manage. these are the folks who get those 1-2 week tasks assigned to them. OK, the task is assigned, now how do they schedule it into their lives? That is the part that usually doesn't go well.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Having a tool that ACTUALLY helps you schedule, re-schedule, and better plan your tasks will change your life. I don't know of any other tools that do this for you to the extent that SkedPal does. It is not just a pretty "Task Manager" (like OmniFocus, etc.), it helps you take all of your million-billion tasks in your work and personal life and schedule them (based on task duration, deadlines, different Time Allocations, etc.) around the rest of your "appointments," even telling you what it cannot schedule them, and giving options to "triage" the situation.

#### Cons

In the Prior version (SkedPal2) there were a lot of minor bugs and some moderate ones, as well, but the concept was well worth it, and I was still a daily user. In SkedPal3, which I am helping to Beta Test now, the concept is really implemented well, and I don't foresee the same "bugginess." SP3 also adds quite a enhancements to the concepts, as well.

With other planners/auto-schedulers, I've always felt like, there's no way I can convey everything this app would need to know about my tasks and how I like to use my time to delegate scheduling and have it make smart decisions about what I should work on next. This app can actually do it.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

The combination of nuanced time availability maps, time-budgeted task types, and customizable priorities facilitates extremely intelligent task auto-scheduling. These properties can be assigned directly or inherited from assigned "smart" tags or from parent tasks, meaning new tasks can be quickly auto-assigned all the properties and settings they need to be handled properly. The devs are fast to respond to issues and feedback and engage with users on their Slack channel.

#### Cons

The app is already feature rich but I wouldn't say feature-complete, and is still maturing.

#### Reasons for choosing SkedPal

This is the only app that gives the results that I want—intelligently time-blocked work schedule on autopilot.

I liked it for about a year, and then for some reason I fell out of the habit. Managing the schedule-map (daytime, night time, etc) could be improved as I have trouble with time map overlaps. If the app wasn't so expensive I would probably use it more.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 3/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

I appreciate the auto-scheduling of repeat tasks. As I have ADHD and Working-Memory problems, I will often forget things that I am supposed to do every day or once a week. Skedpal acted as my refreshing to-do list.

#### Cons

I wish it could plan beyond two months at a time, as some events will happen in my future that I want to be ready for, especially for larger projects. This is also an expensive program for a single person to use. It could be a bit more UI friendly for people with ADHD, it's easy for us to fall in the trap of spending more time planning/scheduling and being distracted by the program itself than doing the tasks.

### Adds speed and finds me extra time I didn't realize I had

Some tasks that were scheduled weeks out were automatically brought forward to my current day calendar when my schedule freed up. And got completed! Now that's adding speed to my schedule. Why wait when you can do it today what you're originally scheduled to do tomorrow or weeks or months out. Unless it's a boring or unimportant task. Then you have free time to yourself.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5

#### Pros

You only have 24 hours in a day. When you're seeking high levels of productivity from yourself, you need an Assistant who manages your schedule so that you're focused on the tasks and interactions you need to complete. But when you're an executive whose priorities change dynamically with competing priorities, then you need an Assistant who can rearrange your calendar to fit in the tasks, calls and meetings that are most critical. A human Assistant is not efficient anymore to manage your calendar, for the interaction frequency and time required to coordinate. Most calendaring tools are basic and do not accommodate prioritization. I tried Skedpal and it was immediately clear to me that it's an invaluable tool. I've been using it for few months now and very impressed with it's ability to save me time and always keep my calendar up to date with what's most important to me. It integrated easily with Gmail and other calendars. I'd recommend Skedpal for anyone who seeks maximum personal productivity. I've not seen another tool that can match what Skedpal can do.

#### Cons

I did not see anything I do not like in the tool, but one thing I'll point out -- in the beginning, you do need to get to know the tool + configure so you get the most out of it. So spend an hour or so setting up the tool to suit your preferences and it will reward you daily. Skedpal does make this process easier with some of their onboarding videos.

#### Reasons for switching to SkedPal

Automation and dynamic prioritization of both tasks and calendar so I'm always in control of my time

Overall, I’m very happy with the product and looking forward to what the next update holds. The value of scheduling everything and especially not having to personally reschedule stuff if something comes up but just trust the AI to do it, is invaluable. I just got quite sick for the last week and wasn’t able to get anything done so rather than having to spends hours rescheduling all my studying and writing my papers for the next couple of weeks, it only took me about 15 min to reschedule it all.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

Obviously the auto scheduling is majorly important. With all my law school classes, preparing to take the Bar, and other personal responsibilities I’ve always been overwhelmed about knowing when I’ll actually have the time to do it so this has been very beneficial for me.

#### Cons

There are a few hiccups here and there (no plan your day on Mac, unable to access repeating settings on iPad or iPhone, etc.) but there aren’t any major drawbacks that I’ve encountered. I would maybe like it extended to 4-6 weeks of scheduling so I can better see how longer term projects are playing out.

#### Reasons for switching to SkedPal

Scheduling ability!

### A new class of software

#### Pros

It is a phenomenal marriage of GTD (getting things done) and Time Blocking (Cal Newport). Once you settle your system of adding tasks and (in my use case) integrating with Asana...the app starts intelligently putting work on your calendar. As you complete work or priorities change the app continues to update your schedule and blocks time to do the work. If you are realistic in your time estimates and diligent in capturing all your work...it significantly reduces the time required to answer "what should I do next" and increases productivity massively.

#### Cons

The integrations. The Asana integration while quite useful, needs a feature upgrade. The Zapier integration does not offer many trigger options or actions. The complexity of getting things in the right order. It takes a while to get the balance of priorities, schedules, due-dates, etc so that tasks are getting placed in your calendar in a way that you expect them to. It is eventually doable to get into ta rhythm, however the investment is not trivial. Given the utility of the software, the pain is worth it...however...definite area for improvement.
