Slack Software

Slack is a web-based project collaboration and team interaction tool designed to facilitate communication across organizations. The solution caters to various industries, including media, research, technology, education, financial services, retail, transport and logistics.

Slack provides public channels for members across organizations to start conversations. Private channels enable interaction within smaller teams, and direct channels help send messages directly to colleagues.

Slack incorporates feeds from social media into the application and blends them with ongoing conversations in various channels. Files such as PDFs, images, documents and spreadsheets can be shared via drag and drop.

Slack archives messages, notifications, files (as well as the contents of files) and projects, all of which can be searched for later. Slack allows users to customize their notifications and reduce their scope. All changes are reflected in the native applications available for iOS and Android.

I like this product, as it was recommended to me by colleagues.

Pros

Excellent alternative to Skype and most useful for cultivating team communication for business.
I find Slack easy to use interface refreshingly simple to understand and use as well it is free from the influence of rampant
advertising and OS intrusion from the various platforms to include Microsoft as seen on Skype.

Cons

The product support isnt necessarily equal to other communication freeware which can make it difficult
to deal with problems as they arrive during use. Admittedly , ive largely been please with this software.

Slack is a great program to keep in touch with your peers, whether at the same location or remote. I cannot recommend Slack enough if you are looking for collaboration software.

Pros

Slack is a great and convenient way to keep in touch with users in remote locations. It allows quick communication, easy tracking, and allows for a ton of different formatting options. As a developer, I love the ability to put code snippets in and do get peer checks instantly. It is also extremely portable as there are mobile apps to go along with the desktop app so we can keep in touch anywhere.

This program will radically redefine how your company communicates. I could not recommend it more!
t is so user-friendly and integrates on mobile devices as well as on your home base computer.

Pros

I heard rumors about the ease of Slack but I was always skeptical. When our team switched to this program, the success of project management and effectiveness of communication increased. It was so simple to learn and everyone on our team responded well and jumped on board!

Pros

Easy to use, lot's of good features, very stable. The product design - channels, teams, direct messages - works very well for the workplace. Integrations are great as well.

Cons

Video calling can be buggy. Slack can generally get distracting at the office, but that's more of an issue for the office than Slack.

Great tool for office productivity!

Pros

-Channels feature is great for helping communicate around specific projects or within specific teams.
-Ability to attach documents and link items from Google Drive is so helpful
-The Reminder feature is a lifesaver!

Cons

It would be nice to have an option to add someone to a conversation or channel and only allow them to see info moving forward, depending on content you'd like to share.

Pros

Slack is super easy to use, and remniscent of old messenger apps from years ago. It's great to be able to communicate with our team on the go, while on location, or even through the app. Also great for sharing files and creating separate chat rooms/threads for unique conversations.

Cons

It would be great if this app had more API integrations for other software and systems that we use daily.

Pros

Slack has allowed me to manage my communication across my two business very efficiently. My coders love it (they recommended it to me) and I think its an awesome solution.

Cons

While Slack is very cool, there are several things that could be improved. I would love to see a great task-management system implemented into Slack. As of now there are a couple of third-party apps made just for Slack, but it doesn't feel seamless enough. I'm also currently using a free-trial version of the paid Slack version, and so far the only benefit I really notice is being able to share screens and do conference video chats. I'm not sure I'll be able to justify paying the fairly high fee for it.

Overall, I like Slack. I enjoy being able to be in different Slack groups as well!

Pros

Slack is very convenient for remote workers, like me. It's easy to use, chats can be organized by channels. This makes it very convenient for reaching all the right people, at the right time.

Cons

Slack saves a ton of messages. The most annoying factor is that after you go over a certain amount of messages, it always has a pop-up reminding you that older messages will be deleted... unless you upgrade. Not a huge deal, but if I had to nit-pick, that would be about it.

I like so much the sleek minimal and simple design of Slack. It makes the app very easy to use and give you a very good sense of professionalism. They have everything you may need to make your team connected, through their own software but with lots of integrations too.

Value for Money

Pros

Slack excels at being available through consistent and decently reliable web, mobile, and native apps. Has a much more developed integration ecosystem than its competitors and a wealth of accessible formatting features, especially for developers.

Cons

The most notable drawback is only applicable to free users, who will have a limited history that will prove to be a pain for larger teams. The best-use cases of Slack might also take some getting used to for teams used to more 1:1 chat apps.

Slack is my absolute favorite tool for freelance work. From the moment I first started using Slack, it was love at first click. Custom emojis, app integrations and a killer mobile app. Yes, yes and yes! Slack allows you to communicate within different teams from just about anywhere. You can have private messages and group messages within those teams, which means each client can have their very own channel to keep your inbox free and clear from excess emails. You can easily share any type of file for faster collaboration, and it’s a great place to share endless gifs.

AMAZING so many integrations! In fact, going through their integrations list is what brought us to a lot of our new productivity tools. I am currently trying to create a virtual office and slack has been amazing for it! From accessibility to other team members, to be able to share documents and links from other applications. In general slack has been great for us!

Effective communication within our team, especially since most of our team is working remote. It's great having the mobile/desktop version to refer back and forth to.

Pros

It's ability to create multiple conversations with multiple users, organize conversations into separate channels, 3rd party apps that are integrated into the software.

Cons

I understand the cost associated with the paid versions, but I don't see the entire value of what we're paying for the paid version versus the free version. We have a small company of 5 people and use contractors. We could invite these contractors into our slack for a period of time but then remove them when needed. We use online video, but we could do that through Google hangouts easily. We can still search for past messages. The only thing that is convenient is inviting single channel users, but I feel like this doesn't We've been given credit for inviting new users, but I'm not sure if we'll continue with the paid version if there isn't enough value behind what we're paying.

more interaction with students, classroom connectedness & real application of things we learn

Pros

I was looking for a group messaging system that kept phone #s and emails private, and found what I needed in Slack. We are solving several business problems, but most (if not all) are related to how a team works together.

The biggest impact in the business in my opinion is that with Slack we created a single communication channel and a single source of truth for data. Even-though we use multiple applications within a project, they are all integrated and synced with the specific communication channel in Slack, so everyone in a team know what¿s going on with the project and what updates they have on other products they might be using, for example a Trello board or a google doc.

That single unified line of communication helps people to be organized, they are more productive in their day-to-day stuff and we know for sure they are stress-free <at least for communication related problems ;) >

Pros

Slack is so easy to use. You don't have to teach anyone anything. You just throw people in it and they'll start using it right away. It is so natural for everyone because the core is just a chat application and we've all been using chat apps for decades.

Then, on top of that, you'll find a ton of features and integrations that makes this product truly the best tool for teamwork success. It aligns everyone together and it is the hub for all interactions within a team.

I use it to share files and to collaborate. It has reduced the number of emails drastically.

Pros

Its much more than a messenger. There is so much about slack that I like. File sharing is very simple, Link previews for shared links are nice, Screen Hero and Hangouts integration are phenomenal tools when working with partners offsite or overseas. If your organization utilizes Slack, telecommuting becomes even more doable. I like the fact that I can have multiple slack teams, and then control the channels I would like to follow. The gif integrations are also entertaining in their own way. The paid version retains all of your conversations and files. The search tool has also come in handy to find old conversations or shared links.

Cons

Its confusing at times to switch the chat spaces. There are very minimal things that I do not like about the application. If I had to name some, I do not like the fact that the app does not allow having multiple video calls and a lot many times have problems with connectivity over a slack call

I am using slack to collaborate with my teammates on group projects. It is like WhatsApp but better with the ability to chase large files and create multiple channels and get all your work done in one place.

Pros

Slack is a very simple communication program and yet, it has everything we need: possibility of private messages, possibility of creating groups (public or private) and the menu is very well designed, allowing us to customize if we want to see every single channel, or if we just want to see starred channels. In that sense, it is really well built.

Cons

The initial setup process is a bit confusing when looking for my team member on slack and slack also has this workspace name other than user name while signing in which is slightly confusing.

Has an intuitive layout/user interface ; which makes it easy to learn the basic functionalities of this tool. I primarily use it as the go-to tool to communicate with my colleagues at work and manage projects. Prevents me from having to walk from department to department trying to get work done : I simply send them a chat on Slack and it appears on their screen.
I also like that it gives its users ability to create as many public and private chat groups as possible ; which has been very useful at work ; we 've even used this for meetings in time past.

Cons

I wish Slacks notification system will be more concise. I am never aware of any new message until I am on Slacks webpage. That can be a distraction of work ,having to constantly check my slack page every other quarter of an hour.

Slack allows me to keep up with many different work teams in one place, making it easier to get things done. With the phone app, I can keep up with my teams at work, even when I'm away from the office: I'll only be notified of topics/words/channels I've set up in my profile to be notified of on my phone, but can participate in any channels and conversations I'm a part of if I choose.

Pros

Slack is very easy to use, and makes it easier to communicate with multiple people and teams throughout the workplace. Once you have the keyboard shortcuts down, you can quickly jump from channel to channel to get the information you need and reach out to those you need to share information with. When you're away from a computer, the phone app is perfect for catching up on the go. Slack also makes work fun, with customizable options (emojis, gifs, highlight words) to make it work for you and to really get your message across.

Cons

When there is a service disruption, it often lasts a long time, and the status page doesn't always seem to be updated with what is happening.

Communication across teams and companies. Communication with customers and partners. Collaboration with each and file sharing as well.

Pros

The Slack API and integrations are the best part about the product. It's incredibly easy to integrate into your existing processes and worklows, from sharing Google Docs to answering Intercom messages or getting notifications of new leads.

Cons

Slack's whole positioning is around displacing email, but it doesn't necessarily replace email or the take away the problems of email. Messages still get missed, etc.

The greatest benefit I have obtained with this tool is the good communication I have achieved with the work team and the flow in solving problems.

Pros

What I like most about slack is that besides allowing communication with the work team, it is possible to share code and files, so when you are working remotely or with freelance it is a support to understand well what is being discussed , in case it is something very specific.

Pros

- It's really easy to integrate with.
- It has one of the best approaches to team chatting (already found on other competition too), with channels for different topics, individual chats.
- It has some good integrations that are really easy to install (giphy, rightgif, etc.)
- It works very well cross plataform

Cons

Even If I understand that it is their business model, having only 10k messages of free logs is a big bummer, specially for big teams / organizations.
