Slack Software

Slack is a cloud-based project collaboration and team interaction tool designed to facilitate communication across organizations. The solution caters to various industries, including media, research, technology, education, financial services, retail, transport and logistics.

Slack provides public channels for members across organizations to start conversations. Private channels enable interaction within smaller teams, and direct channels help send messages directly to colleagues.

Slack incorporates feeds from social media into the application and blends them with ongoing conversations in various channels. Files such as PDFs, images, documents and spreadsheets can be shared via drag and drop.

Slack archives messages, notifications, files (as well as the contents of files) and projects, all of which can be searched for later. Slack allows users to customize their notifications and reduce their scope. All changes are reflected in the native applications available for iOS and Android.

Pros

Slack is easy to use. It's easy to install. To get conversations started, you just have to pick the name of the person you need to talk to and start typing.

Cons

The only drawback to Slack is the fact that you can't have all of your direct message people listed. So, as you talk to more people, the least recent one falls off this list. I have 11 on my list, but I easily talk to 12 to 15 in a day so I'm always having to go add someone and if someone else falls off then I have to add them again too.

Easiest way to communicate between coworkers located in different offices in the same city.

Value for Money

Pros

The employees at my company work at various client offices around the city of Chicago, but need to collaborate on our work quite often. Slack eliminated the need to send nearly any email between members of our office. All we need to do is use our Slack application to see who is online, and can get the responses we need extremely quickly. It is helpful to see when someone is typing a response, rather being completely in the dark as to when you will be receiving an answer when using email.

I also enjoy the fact that you can create various channels for different types of conversations. Aside from work, we have chat rooms to discuss music, entertainment, sports, and many other interests our diverse group of coworkers has.

Cons

Often times I will appear offline on Slack even though I am using my computer. I am not sure if you need to be actively using the application to show up online, or if it can just be running in the background. As I am a relatively new user, I likely just need to look around in the settings to see if there is something that can be done to fix this issue.

Very good messenger for productive work of your team.

Pros

Great messenger to work with. For testing purposes, you can use the free plan before you decide to purchase a subscription to this product. Well-implemented search system, you can search in this channel and through other channels, plus the search system can add the necessary messages to your favorites. It is pleasant to be able to create multiple channels for different purposes, for example, to communicate with different divisions of the company and to include the necessary users, with one user being able to participate in several channels. There is also the possibility to use bots to automate the work, for example to train the staff of this product or even to implement the creation of tickets based on incoming notifications in your ticket system. Another note is the illumination of the code, integration with various applications such as Github, Dropbox, Datadog.

Cons

You need to spend a considerable amount of time to customize this product for yourself and not all the functions are quite clear.
Doesn't like the way of quotes realization, it would be better to use stile like in Skype.

Pros

This is a great collab tool especially for a software development organisation. I love how you can share snippets of your code so it's readable from your team mate. Channels are a great way to collab with clients or external team members.

Cons

It works great but I have to knitpick, I wish the external channels are in the free version. Even if it's limited. Would really benefit a small\startup company.

The Best Communication Tool Hands Down

Ease-of-use

Functionality

Product Quality

Customer Support

Value for Money

Pros

I've used numerous communication tools in the workspace, but Slack is by far the most versatile, user-friendly, and effective tool. Customer support is bar none, there are a ton of applications you can plug in, and the mobile, web, and desktop apps are seamless and feel native to whatever device you use.

Cons

I don't have any cons about the product other than it can get expensive as you scale the product up to meet the needs of your team. It's a very affordable tool for smaller teams, but I see some larger companies reverting back to email and texting because of the cost-savings.

Pros

The Real-time messaging is extremely convenient and reliable. The emojis are really cool too. The direct messaging feature is really cool too.

Cons

People lose track of who they are supposed respond to next. I get skipped in the queue and have to repost my issue. I'd like a bell or something to let me know when I have been responded to. Sometime we have to wait for a very long time to get a response. I'd like to be able to delete my post sometimes.

Pros

I was resistant to Slack, as another channel to communicate through. My workplace started implementing it, and I finally tried it. I really love how it clearly shows if colleagues are on slack, and it's a quick way to keep short messages out of email and contact people quickly. I run a lot of meetings and I often slack links prior to the meeting for easy access. I also like how it stores conversations for future reference.

Cons

I'd like it if there were a way to see everything that was sent (links, images, etc) between people in a quick manner, without having to scroll back through the entire conversation.

You will love using Slack as it is simple and gets your team involved!!

Pros

Slack is a great way to communicate with your colleagues anywhere by sending instant messages and informing each other on what you are doing or if there is something to do. It is similar to Skype but with more visual appeal and faster. Also has the benefit of a good pricing structure too that will make your life easier. The interface is really cool and you can add members of your team from anywhere is the world. I suggest using this software do to its ease of use and ability to strengthen your teams position internally. The pricing starts as a free package but you can increase that as your business grows.

Cons

I have not found any cons with this software yet as it has really helped our team building. You can change the colours which is great but I guess if they incorporated a dialer function where you can port a number to then that would be fabulous.

Pros

Provides visibility to dispersed Teams on tasks and progress on items... also a collaborative communication tool. Free option is limited but, most likely, what you're close team will need to kick off a plan.

Cons

as all the task/to-do/project lists, those depend heavily on the commitment of the end-user. The tool can at some times be annoying and defeats the initial goal of facilitating the flow of deliverables.

Collectively It is the best conversation tool for any ongoing project, where one belongs to another department and still wants to be part of the process and he/she can put up his idea upfront. One of the best use for this tool would be to use in senior design project, where one will be totally aware of the status of the project. Not just the Education department, but also it is proven to be the successful for most of their business clients. In few words, It is Apptastic.

Pros

Piping of Data, smart search, customized department channels published and when done with typing you can upload media contents with the features of AV-Audio/Video calling facility.

Cons

Hardly anything I could say about this software, but still it can be improved to its slow version of android phone. I still doubt Is it just my phone or the app? leaves me blank.

Pros

I like the ease of communication, Slack is Skype with security. Gone are the days of rando messages asking you to view a webcam. You can add links to slack, images, and choose from a bunch of other slack integrations to get Jira updates or trello or anything. This makes it easy to get all notifications in one place.

Cons

If you have groups outside of slack that you want to communicate with, it can be difficult to get to them.

I mentioned most of the benefits in my review, but to simplify and summarize: efficient collaboration. The facilitation of feedback loops, separate channels depending on the audience for data models, and direct conversations make my job so much easier. The interface is easy and enjoyable to use. Even the emojis add personality to conversations! I love the notifications and setting your status for everyone to see. I much prefer it over Google chat.

Pros

The creation of channels, depending on the data I'm sharing, is SO much easier than creating long email chains. I can post in line images of data models and clearly communicate what everyone is looking at. The feedback loop is instant and I can update my data models accordingly and can answer clarifying questions. Additionally, if I need to continue a conversation in a 1 on 1 context, it's easy to move the conversation to direct messaging. Additionally, if I'm working with a consulting team, I can create an entirely separate Slack instance, which helps organize my conversations and collaboration.

Cons

Slack's integration with Google drive can sometimes get confusing. I wish it was easier to post docs in a channel or direct message. There is an entirely separate channel where my Google drive messages are consolidated, and it contains messages from both instances of my Slack account.

Pros

Incredibly easy to set up and use. Once everyone uses the same group address, communications are super easy. Instead of having to memorize everyone's number, it's easy to have them create an account, get access to the group you created, and start collaborating. Great for short term projects.

It's easy to use and good for team communication.User interface is very simple and easy to understand. It's time saving application to each team member .

Pros

It's a really very good software for messaging to manage a team that also help in productivity of team in work place.it has so much functionality to communicate with organization member. It support over cloud based system .It help in one to one direct messaging.

Cons

They provide limited admin privileges .I want some improvement in multiple user can call at a same time.I think slack should be easier to invite team members, which sometime is little hard to do.

improved communication especially with remote employees

Pros

syncs with gmail and google drive, also allows for private conversations as well as group chats. I also like how you can use desktop app, mobile app or browser app and they all sync.

Cons

There isnt really any cons, sometimes it is difficult to get rid of notifications on mobile, it shows that i have unread notifications even though I have read or responded to the chat through another avenue like the browser version
