Slack is a cloud-based project collaboration and team interaction tool designed to facilitate communication across organizations. The solution caters to various industries, including media, research, technology, education, financial services, retail, transport and logistics.

Slack provides public channels for members across organizations to start conversations. Private channels enable interaction within smaller teams, and direct channels help send messages directly to colleagues.

Slack incorporates feeds from social media into the application and blends them with ongoing conversations in various channels. Files such as PDFs, images, documents and spreadsheets can be shared via drag and drop.

Slack archives messages, notifications, files (as well as the contents of files) and projects, all of which can be searched for later. Slack allows users to customize their notifications and reduce their scope. All changes are reflected in the native applications available for iOS and Android.

Supported Operating System(s):
Web browser (OS agnostic)

We like it and use it daily.

    Pros

If you're a IRC fan, you'll feel right at home. Advanced features are available at the cost of a super sleek interface (see below), but even so, they're not hard to figure out

    Cons

User interface is not as clean as some instant messaging software out there, such as Google Hangouts.

A medium for the quick messages.

    Pros

Coming from corporate america to a startup, I didn't realize the energy and time that goes with email. Slack saves us time and cognitive energy my making communication easier throughout the whole business. No more email addresses "person.last name you cant spell@...." It's great.

    Cons

It doesn't integrate well with gmail- I find myself sending repeat slack and email messages to some groups of people.

I use Slack to stay in communication with my coworkers who live all over the world, and I love it! It's wonderful having everything in one spot, as well as the ability to create multiple channels by topic. The phone app makes it super convenient, too! I highly recommend Slack!

Slack is one of the best communication tools created in a long while. I love that you can have multiple workspaces with different teams. I have a collaboration team with a handful of marketers from all over the world on a workspace! It is great to help manage teams too.

    Cons

I don't like that it fills up so quickly with space.

The New Standard in Team Communication

    N/A

Slack has become the new standard for me when communicating with small teams. It can integrate with other services via webhooks and API integrations which makes Slack an effective communication tool.

    Pros

I love the ability to integrate Zapier into Slack for team notifications when a certain action or event happens (like when we capture a new lead, etc.)

    Cons

I think Slack is great for small teams, but when you have hundreds of users, communication can start getting a bit chaotic without proper account organization and user permissions.

Overall, Slack has been great for our business! Many of our team members work remotely so this is much easier than having to email back and forth constantly.

    Pros

You are easily able to communicate with your team members no matter where they are located. There is also integration available for Google docs, Google Drive, and the other parts of the Google Suite.

    Cons

Learning the layout and shortcuts can take a bit more time compared to the competitors.

Overwhelming at first, but a great application for managing team communication and collaboration.

    Pros

Slack unifies all communication of a team that is working on a project. It allows for messages to be shared, organized and filed. The ability to set custom notifications for pretty much anything can be quite helpful. Also, they have done a great job at designing the application to integrate with many other tools and software.

    Cons

The biggest con and concern for me was the price of the software. Depneding on the amount of users and the plan selected Slack can be quite expensive. However, the plathora of meatures help make of for this one downfall.

I'm happy to use this hybrid application

    Ease-of-use
    Functionality
    Quality
    Support
    Value for Money
    Pros

I'll explain in detail why I called the application hybrid in the title of the review. The fact is that Slack organically combines several functions useful for the office worker. That, I simultaneously use an online chat to communicate with colleagues, I exchange files and use the application as an email client. Such synergy leads to the fact that I save a lot of time, long ago systematized and simplified the work with projects. Extra bonus is an excellent debugged application, which is installed on a mobile device, and data is synchronized instantly.

    Cons

When sending messages, I do not have enough options for their beautiful formatting. But this is not a big problem, in everything else I'm happy with the application.
