A tool that adapts to your needs
Thanks to Tuleap we have managed numerous IT projects in Agile and Waterfall for very large companies. We also used Tuleap for incident management or evolution requests. We also linked it to PowerBI in order to have automated project management reports.
PROSTuleap is very easy to use and can be implemented very quickly thanks to the Cloud version of the product (MyTuleap). It allows you to create a workflow corresponding exactly to your needs. It also provides a large number of APIs to automate a large number of actions and to link it with other products including reporting products as PowerBI. Tuleap includes a large number of features in order to manage projects: wiki, package management, files and documents management, agile dashboard... but it can also be used for other purposes: ticket management, test management, cooking recipe management...
CONSTuleap could be even better with a better and an easier integration with IDE like Visual Studio or JetBrains. It would be interesting to have plugins to directly integrate Tuleap with the main IDEs on the market.
Reason for choosing Tuleap
With Tuleap, we have a tool that adapts to our workflows. If we had used other tools, we would have had to adapt our workflows to these tools.

Best ALM tool for PM
I am using Tuleap for project tracking (bugs, actions, MoM), customer actions, team objective for HW development. The support team is quick and helpful, and we are getting improvement every months. I am also administering the platform for 200 users, with very little effort
PROSThe tracking capability of the tool is awsome, very easy to use and customize to the need for project management or application development. It fits for SW dev as well as HW dev or just day 2 day activities tracking. The customization of the view enable different views of the same data to fit all the needs (developpers, PM, management)
CONSA few plugins were a bit old fashioned but they tend to disappear over time...
Reason for choosing Tuleap
Tuleap is as much HW as SW oriented, while Jira is really targeting Sw. Decentralised project administration is a big plus by reducing support need. Cost model scales better

Works well for small teams
It's a very handy tool if you don't have much of a budget. Overall works well for a team of 20- 30 people.
PROSCategorizations of the tasks and stories make it easy to filter what tasks were done under what user story. I really like their report feature where you can filter as deep as you want, as to who did what and when and how much time was consumed.
CONSThere isn't much option of limiting usage of teammates if you are managing the team and want to give restricted access of just creating the tasks because they still have access of deleting or editing a user story.

PROSThe ability to define patterns for Agile project (Scrum, Kanban) with the possibility for each team to custom the project. The test module is very easy to use
CONScross Links between different projects could be improved
Reason for choosing Tuleap
It's an open source so you have possibilities to test the product without support. It's a large ALM solution with a wiki, test module, Git, ...

Easy to configure, easy to us, makes team efficient
A very good project management. Originally designed for software projects (it's an ALM), it's possible to use it to manage all kind of project, including marketing or content production.
PROSEasy to install on a lot of hosting thanks to PHP/Mysql technology. UI/UX is great for end user, a very good web app Configuration is very easy for admins and project managers. (particularly, compared to the very complicated Jira)
CONSNothing special At the beginning of this software, it was complicated to list projects or to move a ticket open in the wrong project to the right one. And all modules were not always well integrated in the UI. But this is quite better now.
Reason for choosing Tuleap
Because it's open source and easy to configure and to maintain.
Reasons for switching to Tuleap
In Jira this is very complicated to configure new projects, and new forms. Sometimes you change something and it applies everywhere, and you struggle to identify what you did wrong. In Tuleap, configure a new project is very easy. I don't loose time on that anmore. Also, the different ways to use Agile methods are very simple to configure, per project.

A very good open-source alternative to expensive, proprietary software
Integrations and traceability features are great, and enable a complete and smooth toolchain setup. We used Tuleap as a pivotal, central tool to manage the whole lifecycle through issues.
PROSIts openness at all levels: the numerous integrations with other tools, the governance model of the product, the fact it's completely open-source.
CONSSome parts of the UI look old, although the latest devs tend to solve that. Still very usable though.
Reason for choosing Tuleap
Business and governance model, all integration features, ease of use.

Tuleap high customization potential
Part of the IT division, our team has deployed Tuleap for our employees in order to help them manage their day to day work since some years. The Tuleap high customization potential makes its usage fitting several set of uses cases. Each team is able to configure the needed services according to their process and their development flow set in place(integration with gerrit, jenkins, bugzilla), and this is done without further interaction with the site administrators. Tuleap is today our company standard for software projects and agility support.
CONSAs an area of development, Tuleap solution should be fully exploitable/ready to be deployed on top of orchestration tools to ensure the high availability (kubernetes like) since it is the future. The work done on this sens need to be completed to make Tuleap fitting large scale enterprises leveraging new technologies (docker, cloud, ...)

Evolving set of integrated tools for collaborating on software projects
We have an internal instance of Tuleap which is widely used in the Company. We also have one for collaboration with our external Customers and Partners. Many years ago now, it allowed us to start sharing not only documentation and issues as in many extranets but it enabled source code deliveries or even co-developments as well. I am using this tool since it was called CodeX as a Xerox product so I have seen it evolving together with business needs.
PROS1) Easy to use 2) Evolutive (Agile releases, market-standard technologies...)
CONS1) Documentation management was a bit disappointing due to long legacy: features were missing (like drag and drop or mass actions) and look and feel was old-fashioned but that is the feature of the moment and it has been recently revamped. Some functionalities are still missing like mass upload/download but I know it's on its way (even maybe done while I'm writing). 2) In my particular context, I am facing some non-compatibility between newest technologies used by Tuleap and some of the old architecture components I need around it so even if I consider a plus that Tuleap is fastly evolving, it can also have limitations if you need more stability.

Using tuleap to manage various projects
The overall experience is very good. The main benefits have been: teams have the info centralized and managed, teams are closer (business and IT), tasks are being done at a faster pace and otimization is done daily.
PROSAs pros, I would like to highlight the ease of use, the centralization and organization of the info in the projects, the drag and drop's, the integration with a lot of development tools and the ease of customization, thru the use of services and webhooks, both available in Tuleap
CONSI believe that tuleap could evolve to a more project portfolio approach and, maybe, to a more abstract (not only development) projects in IT

Excellent support and documentation from the team
PROSTight integration between all components, easy deployment.

Agile for all
All our project management is on Tuleap. With the software we manage easily all project and we can include our partner for a better result.
PROSWe have a lot of project and with Tuleap it's really easy to create it, add the user stories and explain to our partner how to use it. We use a lot the burndown chart for our project. The team behind the software is very responsive, friendly and competent. We enjoy working with them!
CONSThat's really hard to find a weakness. Perhaps they could improve the user experience when we link trackers (Release/Sprint/US/Tasks) together

Using Tuleap in a software developement team
I have used Tuleap for different needs across the years, starting with simple knowledge sharing for my team, moving to support for software development (source code management, in particular) and then to full project management incl. previous ones plus agility management. I also use it to manage different activities thanks to kanbans, and it is crearly great in this remote work period.
PROSLarge range of features grouped in a single environment, allowing to create projects and use inside only those useful for the project activity: project visibility, document sharing, software development, project management, etc. Moreover new features are often added or updated in order to follow evolution of practices and methodologies
CONSSome UI features are not intuitive, such as copying/moving documents to a different position, or managing cards in a kanban. Not a major point but could be good to offer more standard UI operations. Configuring tracker reports it is also a bit difficult to do.

Very powerfull *artefacts* at the core of the platform
I have been using Codendi - Tuleap in my organization (France Telecom Orange) since 2008. At the beginning, it was for me an helpful tool among other. When the visual management of artefacts was implemented by Enelean, I became to be my favorite tool !
PROSI use daily the *artefacts* of Tuleap. For every project I'm involved in, I configure several trackers (to-do lists, releases, bugs, etc. ). I appreciate a lot the high level of customization that a project admin can perform on the artefacts. Every morning, I check the cardwalls of my active projects ! And during my working day, I update existing artefacts and I create new ones.
CONSThe availability of a Tuleap App (on Android and iOS smartphones) would be fine :-)

An all-in-one ALM solution with innovative roadmap mechanism
As service delivery organization serving many customers, Tuleap is great for those, providing everything a team needs to deliver quality products / projects.
PROSTuleap covers the entire lifecycle, which helps linking code with work items and have everything in front of your eyes. Quality is top notch: we can feel the R&D team knows what they are doing: it just works. And finally - Tuleap comes with out of the box workflows (Waterfall, Kanban, Scrum) but everything is highly customizable to fit my usage. Plus, it is frequently updated with new capabilities.
CONSTuleap is not GitHub. It's not GitLab. So, the ecosystem can be a little close (web hooks & such) for some use cases. But Tuleap has REST APIs, Web hooks, a GraphQL API and can be integrated with a huge ecosystem thanks to Stackstorm.

When quality meets open source
I really appreciate how quickly our different partners or students can ramp up on Tuleap with a minimum of support
PROSThe fact that Tuleap is open source helps us try it, test it and finally trust it. Its reach connectivity with major open source collaborative tools such as git or MediaWiki is a brilliant idea. Its customizable bug tracking system associated to a powerful dashboard and a great kanban feature make it a a first class application lifecycle management tool.
