Workfront (formerly AtTask) is a cloud-based project management solution that helps teams to prioritize, route, manage and report on their work. It is suitable for businesses of any size and industry including IT, architecture and accounting.

Users can access a library of standard reports or customize them to meet an organization’s needs. Workfront offers tools to help visualize the work lifecycle so users can maintain project schedules and budgets. Users can drag and drop tasks to assign them to team members, shift assignments and organize workflows through the visual interface.

Communication tools allow employees, account managers and executives to collaborate, assign work, track deadlines, check status updates, deliver work and manage reviews and approvals. Resource management tools allow managers to assign tasks, track performance and allocate resources. Methodologies such as Agile, Waterfall and others can be implemented with Workfront, and the platform is designed to scale along with company growth.

Overall, the pros of having a SaaS that provides me a task "to-do" list every day outweighs the time spent up front making sure projects are set up and assigned out correctly. Visibility into an entire team's work load is a major plus as well.

Pros

Very useful for managing tasks once projects are all set up. I generally have at least 100+ different tasks that I'm working on at any given time, so being able to sort and organize by the day they are due and have that view is a lifesaver. The calculated allocation is also useful to see if it is even possible to accomplish everything in a given work week.

Cons

If you have a project to set up that doesn't follow a template, you will spend A LOT of time getting your tasks, milestones, etc. all set up and assigning the work out. It can also be cumbersome to modify task due dates if they change.

This software has all the traditional functions of a project management software. You can customize the project dashboard and make Gantt chart interactive. I like the fact that this is cloud-based and you don't have to worry about the maintenance. And it allows the employees from different functional areas to collaborate and communicate easily to get the project done.

Cons

There is no templates for workflow and you will have to create your own templates. I guess that is the price you have to pay in order to get the software highly customizable. And also it takes time to train the employees and to implement the new software.

Workfront isn't bad, and has noticeably improved over the past year. It does require a lot of configuration however.

Pros

The timesheet is easy to use to track against specific tasks. Also, it's not terribly difficult to set up a front-facing screen to allow customers/internal users to submit issues to different groups. I like that it allows users to communicate within the platform and accepts pretty large attachments.

Cons

Some of the tools don't work as expected, such as improving MS Project files. I also wish it allowed you to have more power to customize your time sheets, letting you remove projects once they’re finished or reorder them based on priority or frequency of use. It can take a while to browse through the full time sheet to find the appropriate task.

Workfront is easy to customize to meet our needs and easy to navigate too. I am notified when tasks are assigned to me and I am also able to drop comments on each task,ensuring everyone stays on the same page and other team members can easily continue tasks I have not completed ,in my absence.
I like how I am able to integrate Workfront with Outlook and this has made it possible for me to receive updates on projects ,tasks and team comments in real time via my email.

Cons

Has a steep learning curve and for new users who have little or no experience with similar project management tool ,they are bound to spend months before fully understanding all functionalities of this tool.

Data! It provides the ability to capture so much data and then visualize it via report that it changed our organizational culture from rear facing to forward facing. We now make decisions that can impact future outcomes opposed to reviewing what happened last quarter, which we have no control over now.

Pros

It is a really cool tool. There are many features and so much functionality available. The best thing is the ability to collaborate within the system. Using static project management tools like
project can cause issue with static information or mulitple versions of a plan floating about, but with a tool like this one, you have real-time project data. You also have the ability to capture custom data and the best feature is the ability to report on this data real-time.

Cons

There are a lot of features, functionality and configuration in this software. It provides solutions to so many problems and provides value, but you MUST have super users and sys admins to help maintain support and user adoption. This is not something that is easily onboarded in a day or two. It will take careful and thoughtful planning to configure, onboard, train and then support.

We were able to customize Workfront to fit into the immediate needs of the different departments in my organization.Making it easy for everyone to collaborate with anyone in the organization ; across teams and different departments.
Thus making the workflow process of every department easily trackable and transparent. The process of allocating resources for project and managing these resources is much easier because with Workload everyone is almost like a Project manager , only they don't bear the title officially.

Cons

Team members have complained about sometime encountering errors when trying to comment on tasks.Also currently ,there is no means via which we are able to visualize our workflow on Workfront.

You can create personalized reports. The application has a high level of flexibility, wherein you can adjust settings based on your requirements. No much bugs are encountered while running the application. You don’t require to too much of training to use the application. Cloud-based storage, so you can instantly gain access to your projects from all the devices. The searchability feature helps you search for one particular file without much time consumption. You can customize the views feature. The application is user-friendly.

Cons

The dates and calendar integrations need improvement. The Customer service is not responsive. The application seems outdated in features and the interface as compared to the recent applications. Too much of flexibility tends to confuse users.

When a whole team is using this tool it allows for seamless progress without having to send mundane and repetitive emails throughout the day. You can track progress, assign tasks to people, upload documents, fill out necessary custom forms and then generate reports from said forms and tasks. It's easily customize able so you can manage and alter templates; also you can mess around in Sandbox which will allow you to try and "break the system" without harming of the already completed work. There are a lot of tools that I've yet to discover in WorkFront, but the live updates that are published company-wide is a great indirect communication tool.

Cons

WorkFront can be very slow to update and laggy. Once a template exceeds the 400 task mark, the overall program will start to slow. Also, when altering dates the program can be very slow to update and sometimes I'll need to "Recalculate Timeline" just to see if my edit had saved. I've also heard that it is quite pricey for my company (even though I don't pay for it personally), Smartsheets I've heard is cheaper.

It helps us save time when it comes to resource allocation and time management. The reporting features helps upper-management better understand what we are doing and how much time it takes to do it. I love how they are constantly pushing updates that help improve the tool based on user feedback.

Pros

I have been a Workfront user for a few years now and am a big proponent of this project management tool for several reasons.
1) I find it very intuitive for users to use
2) It is easily customized based on the needs of your users
3) The reporting feature is worth the price of admission itself
4) Their support team is quick to respond and the self-help area is robust so you can find an answer to any question you may come across
5) Workfront offers a comprehensive training tool that covers several types and levels of training for users at all levels including frequent live trainings
6) The Community area is a great place to share ideas and ask for help from other users
7) They are constantly making updates and improvements to the tool
8) The Workfront Proof viewer is a great feature for those who want to markup and share creative within a project.

We looked at several solutions and I'd say that Workfront was by far the best option for our internal creative agency.

Cons

Setting up can be time consuming if you don't already have a process in place. Do your homework and dedicate the time to do it right before launch or else user adoption can be difficult. Plan on user adoption to be your biggest hurdle as people are uncomfortable with change. Make the Workfront trainings mandatory before use.

Was able to customize the product to utilize it as a help desk ticket submission. I liked that I was able to add my own custom fields and run reports on those fields that I created.

Pros

Can be customized to suit your business needs. Can build custom reports to pull project information. Lot's of filters available. We tweaked it in order to create a help desk ticketing system. It was useful because we were really able to specify the tickets according to our needs. We were even able to transfer a paper request form to create new accounts into Workfront.

Cons

Too expensive for project management software. We often found users being frustrated at the interface when attempting to manage their projects. I personally didn't use it for the project aspect of it, but users often did not like tracking their projects through Workfront.

Cons

Any team usually has a manager/many managers and several employees doing different aspects of a given task. When scope creep or cancellations necessitate changes or abandonment of a timeline, it takes a lot of offline communication to make sure that reality matches with the altered reports generated by WorkFront.

I like the ability to get a quick view of what's on time vs. what's late. There are a lot of different views/calendars that you can customize to get to dashboards that you can use as default views when signing in.

Cons

Workfront takes a while to learn and master, but most of that is due to the fact that there are a lot of useful functionalities that other project management softwares don't have. In the long run, the time investment at the beginning to learn everything is worth it.

Workfront needs a ground-up UI and paradigm rethink. It's incredibly powerful, but the complication that comes with that power is unnecessary.

Cons

Simple things take forever and usually require lots of clicks. It is not intuitive to use or set up. A native non electron Mac app for such a complex tool would be really useful.

Time sheet management and project management.

Pros

It's great for managing projects and everyone's timesheet. It also provides real-time updates on how far along projects are.

Cons

It's pretty complicated. It can be daunting to jump in and get started on the right project. They have training available but it's long and a big time commitment.
