Workfront isn't bad, and has noticeably improved over the past year. It does require a lot of configuration however.
The timesheet is easy to use to track against specific tasks. Also, it's not terribly difficult to set up a front-facing screen to allow customers/internal users to submit issues to different groups. I like that it allows users to communicate within the platform and accepts pretty large attachments.
Some of the tools don't work as expected, such as improving MS Project files. I also wish it allowed you to have more power to customize your time sheets, letting you remove projects once they’re finished or reorder them based on priority or frequency of use. It can take a while to browse through the full time sheet to find the appropriate task.

Very configurable and encompasses Truly the best of two worlds: Traditional PM structure, accompanied with lighter object oriented workflow.

If you have the budget to spend, Workfront offers some pretty cool integration options. We especially fell in love with the ability to route visual approvals through various queues.
Workfront was my first choice for a recent business process management push after an extensive RFP and discovery process. We eventually went in a different direction (a combo CRM / BPM solution called Pega Systems), but Workfront was truly impressive for a mid-size marketing/communications team management solution.
All in all, Workfront ended up being a bit too pricey for our particular needs. Our team was very excited about the functionality options, but we weren't sure we could sustain the cost/benefit long term.

I love that the interface is not over-designed. It's simple and gives me everything I need to see in one place.

I think the functionality is excellent but find that when you're having a hard time using something, functionality is rendered a moot point. This could be fixed with future updates, but as it stands I don't think I would comfortably recommend onboarding teams with it.
When it comes to managing projects, Workfront (formerly ProofHQ) has what you need. Versioning, history, direct comments, and comparison views are really helpful, especially for creative projects.
Built on Adobe's Flash platform, I find it runs incredibly poorly with modern browsers. Not easy to use at all times and especially not for everyone in a team. Though it might work great for some, chances are everyone's got different machines with different levels of power and functionality.

The support is unparalleled. Our technical, sales, Customer care team was awesome. I would say I had to use them too much, but they were great every time. Can't commend them enough for the efforts to help us. I'd say a large piece of why we stayed with WF was because of their support team.
It's almost like having so many options within the tool became counter-productive. If it maintained a more unique personality, and did more consulting to help clients adjust their processes to the tool, somewhat, I think there would have been more of a win for us. Our processes were fairly simple and we got all caught up in the bells and whistles of the tool. It could very well be that the tool wasn't right for us; I didn't have any say in the decision-making process.
The Ease of building reports; Getting the data out of the tool is really easy. The ability to format reports the way you want to see the data is very useful too. The UI is very easy to navigate, and easy on the eyes - not so busy and crowded on any one page, which I appreciate.
Way too complex, too many moving parts, too many hard-coded definitions for tasks, groups, teams, roles, etc. The backend of WF is exhausting. I, more or less, had 2 admins that had to manage the tool for the company. I don't take off TOO much for this, as the company was very lazy in using the tool. However, part of that laziness was because of the complexity of doing simple tasks within the tool.

Unlimited customization and personalization of every feature – including custom fields for reports, and projects. Able to streamline all work and communication between departments onto one platform, as well as eliminates unnecessary emails. You can update colleagues about a task or project on the platform instead of via a face to face meeting, phone call, or email. The Workfront team guides you to build out the program and is available if you need advice about the best way to structure the program for your needs. I also love that the program is cloud based and available on a mobile app - so it's accessible virtually anywhere! You can also use the program to collaborate with people outside of your company - e.g. share documents for 3rd party review or update a client on their project progress.
You need to purchase a minimum # of licenses in order to use the software so this can be expensive. Since the program is so customizable, expect the build out of the program to take a lot of time as you need to insert all of the information into the program.

Creating and managing request queues is excellent, customizable, and great for tracking progress. Personal task tracking is also effective, with the ability to pull reports of task progress/completion for analysis.
It can be challenging to set up and manage request queues without extensive training. This isn't a major issue but it does limit who can "own" a project/request queue.

Workfront is second to none, keeping the relevant communications for the project in one place to help you eliminate inefficient emails, lost notes or tedious reports.
Workfront provided me with an alternative approach by allowing team members to check their workloads, so they have a realistic view of the completion dates that can be obtained. The licensing options also provide transparency to interested parties, external consultants and members involved in the project who are not part of the team.

I don't think I have any more benefits from this versus any of the other systems we use.
I like that it will inform you daily about if anyone writes a post on any of your tickets. When I first logged in I was not aware that you could be notified of any changes to your tickets.

I like that there are visual options you can add to reports and when you are managing resources. It makes it so much easy to see things are a glance. when your busy.
I came in late to the implementation and am seeing that its overwhelming for users to see all the information and the multiple way to do or find things. Mostly for the non-project managers. I am also seeing the long click paths too time consuming for users. At 3 you've lost people. Lucky there are some setup things you can do.

Keep up to date on projects that we have going in real time. Easy to use, easy to update. Would definitely recommend.
It helps my team organize projects, into one location instead of spread out over ten-thousand emails. You can update you progress on the project, and stay informed of the rest of your team mates progress. I have used Basecamp as well, and to me Workfront is more robust.
The only thing that it is lacking in my opinion is live chat. The mobile version, although it does work well, it only shows the projects that you are on, and none of the nested projects.

I honestly don't see many benefits to this software at all.
The best thing I can say about Workfront is that it's easy to create new projects at the most basic level. Otherwise, I prefer not to use it.
There are too many steps involved in creating anything or updating projects. There is so much clutter to get through, it's hard to retrieve earlier messages. Documents often get lost because there are so many different places to house them. The search function is terrible - not helpful at all. Overall, there is just way too much going on in Workfront. It adds so many steps to my projects and there are way too many unnecessary features. It over complicates everything.

Good software but may be overkill for what you need. You'll definitely stay organized, but it's really hard to get this thing customized to your needs.
The software is pretty good and easy to use. I used this software because that's what my former employer used for the development team. Pretty easy to get around, lots of options, and good quality.
The software seems a bit overkill for anyone who isn't a software developer. I tried to use it for marketing, but their Kanban ability was lacking - may have improved. But it's like Salesforce - has a lot of bells and whistles, so do you really need it all? Go with a free option like Trello if budget is a consideration.

-Project visibility across multiple groups & departments
-Reporting/tracking on time delivery of deliverables & projects
-More insight into workload of users on different teams
-Project visibility across multiple teams - Workfront makes it easy for different groups to work on projects together & provide updates through the system, so all your project information is gathered in one place. The project details page & updates become your one source of truth when tracking why a project became late or who made decisions about certain project aspects.
-Project templates - The ability to create project templates makes opening new projects a breeze & quicker manipulation of due dates
-Resource allocation - I think that the process of bulk assigning users to project tasks is a bit clunky, but I still like the feature. It feels awkward having to leave your project, go to a different tab, and navigate through several more clicks to find where to bulk assign all of your project tasks.

I work on a team where each of us are separated individually across the united states. Workfront enables us to collectively collaborate on a common project setting individual goals. Project managers can invite users, send out updates and set goals to be marked as complete by individual users.

The nice thing about Workfront is that it is very much self-contained. All your timelines, tasks, communications, and attachments can be found in one central location.
I found that Workfront has too many parts. As a project manager, you don't always know if someone has actually seen their task. There are too many places to make comments and attach documents; do you attach a document to the projector in the task. While it is nice that everything is centralized, that central location has too many micro-environments.

I really like the detail I can store in each card. Although the UI leaves a little to be desired, I like the display of communication, important information you can add to the card, and the related issues, hours, etc. I also like how the "assign to" window only takes a small amount of room on the screen, and is collapsible. Most programs devote too much space to this information, and it is important, but doesn't need a lot of real estate.
The flow of progress and burndown charts are useful when looking at it from a sprint view. Although I haven't used it this way, I could see the tool being useful for Program Management.
The search functionality is really bad. The results are not intuitive, and it can be very difficult to find anything. We have taken to putting in all cards with a naming structure in order to make it better, and it barely makes a difference. In most cases, unless I am lucky, I have to export to Excel or CSV and search from there in order to locate the card I'm looking for and then do a more direct search back in Workfront. This issue alone would keep me from committing to Workfront long term for my project management app.

This tool is not used by all the people in the company, only the directors, but it still helps the whole team in general to complete the tasks in a timely manner.
