BIGTIME is an online time and billing software designed to serve professional service firms like accounting, engineering, government contracting, legal and IT services. The integrated solution offers features like time & expense tracking, WIP management, task & workflow management, invoicing, billing and more.

BIGTIME time tracking feature captures every time spent on projects or out of office activities through mobile timesheet app. Employees can submit expenses through the online portal or directly from their mobile sets and attach scanned receipts as expense proof. Once finalized, the solution automatically generates a digital expense report and submits into the system for approval.

BIGTIME also offers comprehensive project management features to helps managers monitor project status, defines tasks and activities, assign tasks and more. The built-in billing & invoicing tool helps businesses streamline their accounting operations with automated expense calculations, multiple billing rates and receipt management features. Once you are running it is OK. Our previous bookkeeper had several customized reports that worked well. Good for ease of timesheet.

Cons

I own a small engineering firm. We hired a new bookkeeper and she had questions and needed a bit of training. Nothing out of the ordinary.

To get to a human is impossible (please fill out a work ticket with your issue and we will respond to you when we get to it). To talk to a human is impossible. As owner I have called 4 times requesting support. We have repeatedly ask to PAY for support and how this is done-- the email response was Yes. No pricing and no next step.

Spoke to service manager who said she would address immediately and that was a week ago with crickets ever since. DO NOT expect any level of human support. Expect support will have to be extracted at an extreme cost of time and effort.

Pros

Easy to use, I love that it makes tracking and exporting sales to Quickbook so so easy. The support staff are very helpful all the time to solve any issues that you can have . I love the ability to watch webinar and speak directly with customer service any time I have a issue .

Cons

You have to manually sync with Quickbook online but it is not a big deal for me so I am pretty happy with this software .

Overall, I am very pleased with the features offered by BigTime Premier. Their support staff is completely helpful and has efficiently helped us solve most issues. The overall system has the ability to be customized to our company's unique needs, including many features that other time keeping software seemed to lack (such as overriding custom billing rates per person per project depending on their role). Their robust reporting system also offers very valuable data, though it can take some time for users to acclimate themselves to how the reporting function operates. BigTime Premier continues to evolve and roll out new features, many of which have been very useful to our operations.

Flexible billing rate system (granular system allows custom rates for specific employees, projects, tasks, or other criteria); Reporting allows for various custom report configurations; Clean interface that is easy for time-entry users

Cons

Reporting is not the most intuitive, especially with different report types offering only certain fields; Permission groups are sometimes dependent on other permissions, occasionally allowing users access to items they should not see in order to be able to access some other features (ie: for users to alter custom bill rates on projects, they also have the ability to alter project information that should only be edited by admins)

I really love having the ability to watch webinars and speak directly with customer service any time I have a question.

Pros

BigTime is the easiest method we have found for timekeeping. It is of utmost importance that we accurately track our hours worked per project so we can accurately bill our clients. We also create and send our invoices through BigTime which we can then link to Quickbooks Online. It is seamless and beyond easy!

Cons

I wish I didn't have to manually sync with Quickbooks Online. I often forget and it would be nice if BigTime synced maybe every so often on its own.

We have a very complex payroll system and Big Time has been able to accommodate our needs. They've also assisted me in setting up specific reports that we use.

Pros

Big Time not only has an exceptionally easy interface for our employees - but their support team is also fantastic and super responsive when/if questions arise.

None that I can think of. Whenever we have an issue arise, support team is quick to assist.

When I subscribed, I made a specific request to be able to start sending out invoices. I am a very small business, that grew quickly, and was very behind in my billing. When the first tutorial began, I asked the presenter if would be able to submit an invoice at the end of the tutorial. They were not aware that was my critical need and proceeded with the tutorial for setting up the background information for the product. I would have to take another tutorial before I could submit an invoice. After the first tutorial, I want back to my old system of invoices....a little clumsy, but effective...I was really disappointed that the tutorial was a canned script, and my request to get an invoice produced on the first tutorial was not provided. I realized Big Time was not flexible in this way. I realized I am too small to have a staff person assigned to managing the software, so I want back to doing the excel spreadsheet.

Pros

Seems ok...the sales people were good....I wish I had the time to learn the system. but I was not able to get an invoice out.

Cons

did not get good initial responce for support. They are probobly good for a medium to large company.

I like it overall. I think a Chrome extension/Firefox plugin for the timer would be awesome. I currently use Toggl for tracking my time time throughout the day because of that, I then use BT for the actual timesheet.

Pros

I think that the usability of the timesheets is very high, as well as the ability of administrators to go back and adjust entries.

Cons

I think that there are some areas that could be developed a little more, mainly My Company > Project List > Project. I think a standalone section for accessing a project could be helpful, rather than needing to stay on the list. However, I also see a lot of cases where the list is helpful. Maybe a popup window or a separate section that gives the user a larger view of the Project they are working on.

Pros

It is so easy to use, I learned it in a day. Our "onboarder," is prompt to respond and has the ability to answer each and every question. It's a very personable group. The UI is clean and simple, and you can customize almost anything.

Cons

Can't do some more granular stuff we need, like weekly (rather than monthly) resource allocations, and there are some necessary workarounds, but it still is going to save us so much time.

I've been using BigTime for about 6+ months at the office I'm currently working in. It's been mostly easy to use, and keeps track of our time really well! I particularly like that we can update our budgets on there.

Pros

Updating budgets easily; Being able to track hours for yourself as well as other employees.

Cons

We were having difficulty inputting some of the previous invoices into the system to reflect the true amount. However, customer service ended up figuring it out for us.

We have been using Bigtime for almost two years. It made submitting time sheet and track work progress very easy.

Cons

The mobile version is sometimes confusing. It does not seem to update automatically. I have been signing out and signing back in to get the timesheet update and it would be great to skip this step. The other part I find it a little confused was the projects that have been classified as "completed". There are times I still like to generate report and see our time performance about the past completed project. But so far, the only way seem to be going back to reclassify the "complete" status to generate report.

Timesheet is super easy to track because of this software! You can input decimal points, you can always go back and edit if you haven't submitted it.

Pros

This is an excellent tool for keeping a record of your workflow and time in motion. Super easy to understand and can be accessed even outside the office. Once I forgot to submit my timesheet, but I didn't have to worry since I can send it at home without installing any apps (but just fyi, there is an available app you can install, which is very awesome!)

Cons

There's one or two times that happened, there was a double entry of an activity that I didn't do. I think it was a glitch, but I think they already fixed it. So no more complains.

BigTime appears to possess the type of flexibility that our company really needs in order to track our project budgets and time. We're excited to dig in to the capabilities of the software and make our process more efficient. The customer service experience so far has been stellar, from the sales experience with Ty, who was informative and communicative but not pushy, to the onboard session with the executive, who engaged our group well and covered a lot of material in a short amount of time. The customer service experience has been a big draw as it has instilled confidence in the product, which is in itself a bit of an investment for our company not just in terms of money but also in terms of time and resources given to changing over our system.

Cons

We are just getting started with Bigtime, so it's a bit early to say at this point what doesn't work well.

Easy timesheet entry process

Pros

I like that I can log in throughout the day, see what time I've logged and make edits if needed. Team at BigTime support helped me figure out how to easily see who has logged PTO time so I can quickly push that into our payroll system.

Cons

There are some expense charges, like field truck charges, that I would like to be able to somehow link to a timesheet entry. We are trying to figure out how to make sure all field days have a field truck charge associated and I'm still trying to nail down the quickest way to do that. I am new to the software so maybe there is an easy way that I'm missing.

Time tracking, expense reports and invoicing all comes out of the same information that is entered in one place: BigTime We use QuickBooks for accounting and the BigTime information flows easily into QuickBooks at a nightly synchronization.

Pros

The ease of use and setup, management and flawless connection to QuickBooks to post information and allow us to invoice clients, print and pay expense reports and collect project information in an easy to use project database. Time tracking is a breeze and built in reports allow us to view important information with a few clicks.

Cons

That the BigTime monitor is not a service but it requires an account to be always signed in in order to run. I hope it can be converted to a service that we don't have to worry about.

Easy tracking and reporting of the time spent by the employees on each project/client/process that we have. It's a helpful tool on maximizing resources by being able to have an accurate billing report to the client.

Pros

A quick and easy to use time and billing software. I can add up our projects and straight away key in time spent on each client/process. This helps our management team track allocation per process/client that we have on a weekly basis. It helps the user easily tracks and exports data from the system as well. Another good thing is that it is customizable!

Cons

Permission groups are sometimes dependent, where it allows others to access certain features to be able to work on some other features. When one forgets to save/sync entries data are lost.

Invoices are more professionally done, time entry easier. I am able to jump right on and ask questions or print off instructions on how to do something in the system, step by step.

Cons

Today I was unable to fix a problem by myself no matter how many times I went over and over each field so had to request help which was frustrating.

It's made life easier for the guys on our admin side. We can now have our techs from all over the country submit time and expenses without chasing them down.

Pros

I think it's really easy to use and has all the features we've been looking for. Love the QB integration and how I can customize to needs that our company have.

Cons

I'd like to have the ability to export select expense from a project to a PDF. My understanding is we can only export all expenses to PDF with photos attached.

Regarding the printing of your expenses, you can always create a report to show pretty much any data that you desire, and those reports can be exported to PDF. The integration with Quickbooks makes our lives much easier. The support staff is really good too - they always get back in a timely manner. The integrated task timer is a nice feature as well.

Cons

There isn't anything I really dislike about BigTime, but there are some features I wish it had (like automatically creating tasks in new projects)

Terrific customer service for a lost newbie.

Pros

It makes keeping the attorney's time records easy and the customer service is top notch. I got thrown into doing monthly billing rather unexpectedly when our last lady left, so I had lots of newbie questions that Custome Rep helped me out with over multiple chat sessions.

Cons

Some features hard to figure out on your own. I had to use the chat feature a couple of times to get help on the system.

Cloud Time-tracking with quality support for small Professional Consulting businesses

It saves me tons of time and frustration entering several people's information into QuickBooks and then will download into invoices once it has been transferred. Put in as much info as you need in the description and it will populate.

Pros

I needed to find something specific that could work for my consulting engineering industry, interact with QuickBooks desktop, and with remote people. I am the owner, the IT, the accountant, the engineer, and I need something that can work logically and simply, not break the bank, provide good customer support when I need it (which they do, quickly). So far, it has been pretty easy to learn and set up.

Cons

I was not able to get one task set up for each person that worked for different billing rates. I had to set up a separate task for each.

Saved time, better reporting

Pros

Cloud based and integrates with Quick Books desktop. Easy for users to begin using with our much support from our back office. Many short videos with instructions on how to use. I like that the invoices are now one document with receipts included if needed to submit to clients. AT a glance you can see how profitable a job.
Lots of reporting possibilities, I am new user still learning how to use all the reporting options.

Cons

Setup was a difficult due to no real process suggestions such as step 1 - 10 ect.
I hope BT includes for future users more standardized set up process.
