BigTime Software


BigTime is an online time and billing solution designed to serve professional service firms like accounting, engineering, government contracting, legal and IT services. The integrated solution offers features like time and expense tracking, WIP management, task & workflow management, invoicing, billing and more.

BigTime time tracking captures all time spent on projects or out of office activities through a mobile timesheet app. Employees can submit expenses through the online portal or directly from their mobile devices and attach scanned receipts. Once finalized, the solution automatically generates a digital expense report and submits it to the system for approval.

BigTime also offers comprehensive project management features that help managers monitor project status, define tasks and activities, assign tasks and more. The built-in billing & invoicing tool helps businesses manage their accounting operations with automated expense calculations, multiple billing rates and receipt management features. Businesses can leverage pre-built reporting templates or create new templates to address their compliance and audit reporting requirements.

Users can access the solution on their Android and iOS devices using the BigTime mobile apps. The solution can integrate with various accounting and ticketing solutions including QuickBooks, Slack, Zapier and more.

Great time tracking/invocing product

Moving from manual to online timesheets. Very intuitive for staff to adopt. Much improved invoicing workflow and allows us to consolidate multiple sources of client data into one location.

Pros

Ease of use for end users
Flexibility to adapt to how we do business - not one size fits all
Efficient workflow for time, expenses and invoices

Cons

Still need to add some new functionality (i.e. ability to split expenses across projects).
Lack of a single document as a users guide. Knowledge base is good as well as online videos, but would like a separate admin and user guide to provide to staff.

A company that actually wants your business and cares

I spent a full year looking for a better timekeeping software that did both timekeeping and expenses in one platform with a sprinkle of DCAA compliance on top. And surprisingly not very many companies A:) have those capabilities or B:) care enough to actually respond to requests for information or demos. Then I was introduced to Big Time. Big Time hit the mark on capabilities but even more importantly, they showed genuine interest and spent the time to make sure that their solution was the right choice for our company via tailored demonstrations, ample trial time, and an understanding on how my particular industry and field of work use timekeeping and invoicing platforms.

Pros

Software is super customizable and can be tweaked to meet most needs and company quorks. Sync agent works well with ability to do both one way sync or two way sync if desired. Customer Service is stellar. Regular updates and improvements

Cons

The software does not have a built in PTO request option and tracker nor does it have a custom branding option however those items are on the road map for development/integration.

Functionality is great and we can customize for our needs.

Cons

It is sometimes not intuitive to use at the beginning due to it being a complex software. Would recommend creating sample template for different industries to show how some of the features are used in the real world

BigTime for Time Tracking

We recently switched our monthly invoicing process from Quickbooks Online to BigTime, mainly for the purpose of saving time with tracking projects by customer and the ease of this information flowing seamlessly in to the invoice. It didn't take long for all users to adapt to the new user-friendly system, and invoicing is so much easier to track now.

Pros

The software is very user friendly. All employees were able to get the hang of tracking their time through it in no time.

Cons

I originally didn't like that you could only send an invoice to one person at a time, but that functionality has been updated!

Data Visibility And Project Cost Management

Overall, BigTime has been easy to do business with and the software has optimize our back office. The front end time and expense reporting system allowed us to kill static Excel forms and provide our users with a clean modern interface to start the data entry process.

Pros

BigTime allowed us to optimize how we track project dollars and hours. In the past we would manually enter the data multiple times to different forms and systems - it was always out of date static information. Now, we enter the data once and have real-time access to project costs and hours. The data flows to invoices, reimbursements, and reports.

Cons

Overall, the software is solid. There are a few navigation workflows that can be improved. BigTime is aware of some click stream patterns that result in getting too deep into a project where you need to click back out to the "home" screen to restart a navigation into a project. This happens more on the administration side - the time and expense entry process is simple.

Well designed time and expense tracking software

Pros

Bigtime is extremely intuitive to use and has some nice features to make time logging less of a headache. Two examples are that it carries over projects from previous weeks, and it prompts you to add a description per time entry rather than per week of entries (like QuickTime does). It also has a decent mobile app for when you're not by a computer.

Cons

While it is nice that they offer a mobile app, it has minimal functionality. You can't see a view for the week to enter time into, so you need to re-add the manual information for each time entry like the project and task. The reporting part of the site is also a bit less intuitive than the time entry portion.
