BigTime is an online time and billing solution designed to serve professional service firms like accounting, engineering, government contracting, legal and IT services. The integrated solution offers features like time and expense tracking, WIP management, task & workflow management, invoicing, billing and more.

BigTime time tracking captures all time spent on projects or out of office activities through a mobile timesheet app. Employees can submit expenses through the online portal or directly from their mobile devices and attach scanned receipts. Once finalized, the solution automatically generates a digital expense report and submits it to the system for approval.

BigTime also offers comprehensive project management features that help managers monitor project status, define tasks and activities, assign tasks and more. The built-in billing & invoicing tool helps businesses manage their accounting operations with automated expense calculations, multiple billing rates and receipt management features. Businesses can leverage pre-built reporting templates or create new templates to address their compliance and audit reporting requirements.

Users can access the solution on their Android and iOS devices using the BigTime mobile apps. The solution can integrate with various accounting and ticketing solutions including QuickBooks, Slack, Zapier and more.

Bookeeper/Office Manager

My overall experience with BigTime is "Super Amazing", I just spoke to support team with BigTime Support this morning and they were so helpful! All the staffers are so friendly and understanding even when I keep asking the same questions over and over again because I just can not seem to grasp it! At times support has had to share a screen with me because I am not explain or using the correct terminology and yet they still have a great sense of support and understanding.

Pros

There are so many great things about BigTime but my favorite is the support and reports you can create.

Cons

The least favorite thing I feel BigTime has is the cell phone app. The employees tell me that the hours under timesheets do not appear correctly.

The Timekeeper that works

We have been a user of BigTime for around 8 years. That should speak for itself.

Pros

BigTime is really easy to teach your employees. It has a lot of functionality for different types of phasing and billing. The website is accessible with an internet connection. It integrates well with Quickbooks

Cons

It has drop-down lists. They can get lengthy without better sub dividing of some sort. New Entries into the system don't always sort correctly.

Bait and switch pricing

Pros

Would have worked and integrated with Intuit. Looked like it was going to cost less than its competitors but it will not.

Cons

Pricing was opaque and misleading, sales people were pushy. Got inconsistent answers about the cost from the sales people, who emailed and called us.

Save Time on Logging Time

It is pretty painless weekly experience.

Pros

It has a great UI, is intuitive and quick, is semi-customizable (met most needs without requiring any, though), and does what it was built to do very well.

Cons

Logging time, by design, is a monotonous part of every consulting job. It is tedious administrative "extra" work that needs to be done after the 'real' work is completed. So by design I do not enjoy logging time on a weekly basis. That being said, that is not a fault of the product, which accomplishes time keeping and time tracking very well. It is just the "cost of doing business".

Customer Service is top-notch

Very easy to use, and on top of that, the customer service reps are always very helpful and available. You don't have to wait a day or two to hear back from them.

Pros

The software is very easy to use. The user-interface is very streamlined. Information flows well to QBs.

Cons

Some features from old BigTime software are still unavailable, but it is not a huge dealbreaker

Big Time Review

I really love Bigtime because of the customer support. Without that this would be extremely challenging. I hope there will be more development to make the program more fluid for various types of projects.

Pros

Simple interface, fairly user friendly, and customer support!

Cons

The behind the scene formulas are not always intuitive - negatives mean positives and vice versa. There isn't a ton of flexibility with customizing the workflow as it relates to the process in our studio. For instance, we had to set up our tasks as labor codes and each timesheet entry that has a different labor code needs a new line. There is often a lot of back and forth to understand workarounds. Also trying to understand how to display something the way we want to see it is challenging and without the support we would have been lost.

Time Keeping/Project Management

This all is one software works perfect for our small office. Staff learned to use the software in one training and they've had no problems. BigTime is definitely a timesaver for our office.

Pros

Having an easy to use software for both timekeeping and project management is a huge timesaver. Being able to review/approve timesheets, as well as keep track of task completion proved to be exactly what the project managers needed.

Cons

Need the ability to customize invoices more than allowed.

Expense/Time Tracking Made Easy

Pros

That it sync with our Quickbooks account, makes tracking time and expenses easy and accessible to our employees who work in the field, and the support team is always prompt and helpful.

Cons

The mobile app can be glitching. I recommend to our staff to enter time and expenses on the app, but to review and submit them through the desktop version.

BigTime Review - Landscape Architecture Firm

I have been using BigTime for almost four months. It is my first time using this system for billing and invoicing. I wish that the knowledge base included more detailed & in depth information, & that the webinars were different & went more in depth as well.

Pros

For the most part, the features are easy to use. The invoicing system self populates so it's nice being able to have a complete invoice with only a few easy steps.

Cons

Invoices should be able to updated fully after created.

Support Staff is Great

It's a love/hate relationship but when I start getting anxious Support is right there and quick to respond to assist.

Pros

Very easy to use as an employee to add time and see individual reports.

Cons

Submit button isn't on the time sheet so you have to leave the page to submit your time sheet.

Big Time is the solution to consultant invoicing!

We've saved SO much time, and we can pump out invoices so quickly now at the end of the month!

Pros

Super easy to log time and expenses both on the desktop, and on the go.

Cons

It doesn't really work well with Canadian tax rates, so we had to break into the back end and do some reverse engineering to code with our taxes.

BigTime invoicing allows your company to tailor the rates per client. it is a faster and easier product for entering time and billing the clients.

Cons

I like the ease of use for this product. It is easy to create individual billing guideline for each client. I did not have any issues using this product.
