- 3 stars: 129 reviews (7%)
- 2 stars: 28 reviews (2%)

### Most mentioned pros

- The Power of One architecture ensures data is always accurate across payroll, time tracking, and employee records, which significantly boosts organizational efficiency. While it is a robust system with a vast array of features, its stability and seamless automation make it an excellent long term solution for managing a global workforce.
- During my time as an ERC Sr. Associate at Amazon, it helped streamline employee data management, payroll support, attendance tracking, and case management.
- The system makes it easy for employees and managers to complete everyday tasks—like requesting time off, updating personal information, or accessing pay details—without needing extensive training.

### Most mentioned cons

- I couldn't get HR to get the paper I needed for DWS filled out for insurance purposes and it was a big hassle being sent from HR to insurance them back to HR then to insurance until I finally was forced to quit my job so I could get my state insurance back for the medications I need monthly to be covered.
- Additionally, while the platform is powerful, the internal search function can be finicky if you don't know the exact terminology, and creating advanced custom reports can be difficult for non technical users.
- What I liked least about Workday HCM is that, despite its modern design, some features can feel overly complex and unintuitive—especially when navigating deeper workflows or generating more advanced reports.

Overall, my experience with Workday HCM was positive. As a hospitality manager, I used it throughout the employee lifecycle—from hiring and onboarding to managing hours and payroll and eventually offboarding staff. It provided a centralized place to manage employees and made many of the administrative responsibilities of managing a large hospitality team much easier. It does take some time to learn, but once you understand the system, it is a very comprehensive HR platform.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

I used Workday HCM as a hospitality manager and relied on it for a large portion of our employee management. It was especially useful for hiring and onboarding new staff, managing employee information, tracking hours, and handling payroll-related processes. Having so many HR functions in one system made it easier to manage employees throughout their entire employment lifecycle. Once you get familiar with the platform, it’s a powerful tool for keeping everything organized and accessible.

#### Cons

The biggest challenge with Workday is that it can feel overwhelming. There are a lot of features and different workflows, and some tasks require several steps that aren’t always intuitive at first. As a manager, I found there was definitely a learning curve, particularly when dealing with less frequent tasks or navigating beyond the functions I used regularly.

It works fine for the basics (getting paid and taking leave), but it isn't "delightful" to use. It feels very corporate and rigid. I can get my work done, though.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

It puts everything in one place. I like that I can check my payslip, update my direct deposit, and request time off all in the same app. The mobile app is very decent for quick tasks.

#### Cons

The user interface feels "clunky" and requires too many clicks to get anywhere. Simple tasks, like finding my tax documents or navigating the Learning module, often feel buried under multiple sub-menus. The recruiting interface for internal applications is also very rigid

#### Reasons for switching to Workday HCM

We required more granular reporting and deeper audit trails than BambooHR could provide. Workday allows us to configure complex business processes and security policies that are essential for our compliance needs (SOX) as a public/growing company.

The overall experience is dependable and straightforward. Regular users can quickly find what they need, whether that is checking pay details, updating tax documents, or submitting time off. Transactions process quickly and payroll accuracy is consistent, which builds trust in the system. For administrators, the automation and reporting tools reduce manual work and provide better visibility across the workforce. When properly configured, it can grow from a solid HR platform into a broader operational system that supports both people and financial data in one unified environment.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

What stands out most is how everything is centralized in one place. Core HR tasks like payroll, time off requests, benefits, tax forms, and career information are all accessible without jumping between different systems. The interface is clean and easy to navigate, so routine actions take very little effort. Real time reporting and analytics make it easier for leaders to make informed decisions, and the built in workflows and role based permissions help keep processes consistent and compliant. It also connects well with other business tools, and with additional configuration it can expand beyond HR into a full ERP and financial platform. Overall, it removes a lot of friction from day to day work.

#### Cons

Some of the more advanced functionality is not fully available out of the box and requires upgrades or extra configuration to unlock its full potential. For larger or more complex organizations, the initial setup and customization can take time and careful planning before the system feels fully optimized.

Overall it’s a powerful HR system that solved a lot of our manual problems payroll accuracy improved and reporting became more consistent. But it’s not plug‑and‑play setup and changes take effort and sometimes outside help. Day‑to‑day it works well, but expect a learning period and some patience with the UI and performance.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

Workday is great at keeping all HR stuff in one place payroll, benefits, time tracking, org charts everything syncs so less manual work. Reporting is powerful once you learn it, and security feels strong which is important for employee data. The mobile app is handy for quick approvals and time entries. For large teams it really helps standardize processes.

#### Cons

It’s kinda slow and clunky sometimes, especially for new users. The learning curve is steep and training takes time. Custom reports and configurations need specialist knowledge or consultants, which adds cost. Some features feel overcomplicated for small teams and there are occasional bugs after updates that need support to fix. Value for money can be questionable if you don’t use all modules.

Overall, my experience with Workday HCM has been positive. It’s a powerful system that does a lot well, but it takes time to learn and set up properly. Once everything is configured and users are trained, it runs smoothly and supports a wide range of HR needs. I’d recommend it for mid-sized to large organizations that need strong reporting, structure, and scalability.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 4/5

- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

What I like most about Workday HCM is having everything in one place. Core HR, payroll, reporting, and talent data are all centralized, which makes day-to-day work much easier once you’re familiar with the system. The reporting tools are especially helpful and give good visibility into real-time data without needing to pull information from multiple systems. Workflows are consistent, and the platform feels very stable, especially for larger or more complex organizations.

#### Cons

Workday definitely has a learning curve. For new users, it can feel overwhelming at first, and some tasks that seem simple can take time to figure out. Making configuration changes usually requires someone with deeper system knowledge, which can slow things down. Support and implementation can also be expensive, so it’s not always the best fit for smaller teams.

Workday HCM is intuitive and forward-thinking. When well-built and backed by a strong HRIS team, it transforms organizational efficiency and empowers strategic HR operations.

#### Cons

Workday HCM can feel clunky when poorly built, and its technical limitations—while logical—often frustrate HRIS teams due to end-user misunderstandings
