## Reviews summary

- Overall rating: 4.9/5

### Secondary ratings

- Customer support: 4.9/5
- Value for money: 4.8/5
- Functionality: 4.7/5

### Rating distribution

- 5 stars: 186 reviews (91%)
- 4 stars: 19 reviews (9%)
- 3 stars: 0 reviews (0%)
- 2 stars: 0 reviews (0%)
- 1 star: 0 reviews (0%)

### Most mentioned pros

- I was analyzing transcripts from 50 hour-long interviews and it had the power and capacity for me to code my data without weird delays or tech issues and the tools were exactly what I needed.
- It helps me a lot for me to highlight and categorize my interview transcripts with several interviewees.
- I had never used a research software before I used Delve, and I really appreciated how user friendly, practical, and effective it was at helping me to organize my qualitative data so I could analyze and write my dissertation more efficiently.

### Most mentioned cons

- I would have liked to be able to perform these steps within Delve but the program did not appear to allow the additional levels of coding this would have required.
- Not much bad to say here, but the exporting the final analysis in Excel wasn't done in the best way, and also including more export formats maybe could be nicer.
- The only thing I would say I find as a con is that you cannot continue accessing your previous research if you discontinue your subscription.

It was exactly what I needed for the budget and timeline I had. I am grateful for the thoughtfulness that you all have clearly put into teaching and user-friendliness.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

The videos that accompany the program guide you through its use step by step. That was amazing! The price was amazing as well. Struggling students don't have 100s of dollars to dedicate to programs. This one was so affordable.

#### Cons

It was pretty bland. I wish I could have color-coded some things to help with data fatigue. The price makes up for this, but it was the one thing I wish were different.

I used Delve during my graduate studies in vocal pedagogy. I was able to import transcripts from my interviews as well as relevant articles. This helped me to connect points across the literature and my own research to be able to write coherent research projects. I also appreciated that they offer a student discount. I will definitely continue to use Delve in future research.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

My favorite part about Delve was the ability to pull the codes around and create an outline for my research projects. My brain works pretty visually, and so seeing the outline come together in real time based on the data was extremely helpful. I also like that I could add notes to each code to help clarify what should be included.

#### Cons

I wish that I could nest more than three layers in the codes. I often had more clarifying points that I wanted to add, and I had to come up with creative ways to be able to represent more detailed points.

#### Reasons for switching to Delve

NVivio was difficult to use and had an unintuitive user interface for qualitative data.

### My experience of Delve as a novice researcher - simple, elegant, friendly and effective.

This was my first experience with a qualitative data analysis program and my experience was extremely positive. I received a very quick, helpful and friendly response to all my questions and requests for help. I would highly recommend Delve to other students and researchers.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

I liked that Delve was simple and elegant to use and not overly expensive. I enjoyed the elegance of the graphics and the simple and intuitive layout of the program. I was able to quickly understand the underlying structure and logic and was able to use it effectively after a short period of experimenting.

#### Cons

The one improvement I would suggest is the capacity to have more levels of coding. I used a particular qualitiative methodology that required the transcripts to be divided into smaller sections ( "meaning units") as a first step and then paraphrased or "transformed". I would have liked to be able to perform these steps within Delve but the program did not appear to allow the additional levels of coding this would have required.

Overall, I have loved using Delve! Great customer service, helpful resources, and the tool itself was intuitive and easy to learn.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Delve was very intuitive and easy to use. I liked how many resources the Delve team made freely available via their blog and YouTube channels. These resources were incredible helpful, and a very great way for a new qualitative researcher to learn. I also appreciate the low cost and ability to use Delve when I need it, and pause my subscription when I don't need it.

#### Cons

I truly can't think of anything about this product that I dislike. There are data visualization features I'd love to see in the future as they continue to develop, but I think this product fit my needs perfectly.

#### Reasons for switching to Delve

Delve seemed a bit more organized. I did like that I could transcribe interviews within Quirkos and they had a word cloud feature, but I felt more comfortable with the quality of product with Delve and also loved all of their other articles and YouTube videos so much that it was worth it to switch.

I appreciate that Delve is easy to use and visually pleasing to the eye, which is important when one is buried in data. The nesting feature allows for fluidity as the codes are rearranged several times throughout the analytic process, allowing me to dissect, manipulate, and rebuild data.

#### Ratings breakdown

#### Pros

Delve is very user-friendly when coding. Additionally, the tutorial videos provide just the right amount of information to explain various research methods in a clear and concise way. Delve was my "go-to" tool as I completed my dissertation.

#### Cons

It might be nice to have additional options for outputs, such as analysis reports or graphs/tables, to be printed from the coding.

#### Reasons for switching to Delve

I had never used a research software before I used Delve, and I really appreciated how user friendly, practical, and effective it was at helping me to organize my qualitative data so I could analyze and write my dissertation more efficiently. The instructional video I watched by the [sensitive content hidden] of Delve was super helpful and convinced me to use this program over other options. Overall, Delve was exactly what I needed to complete my research project, and I highly recommend it to anyone who's looking for a data analysis software that can help them to arrange the information they collected in their research so they can write more proficiently.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 1/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

I used Delve software to support my thematic analysis for my masters thesis. I’ve never had to use a software for my qualitative analysis - so it’s interesting and yet challenging to use an entirely new software as a first timer. Its user-friendly interface made coding and refining themes straightforward, while the export options (to Word, Excel, and PDF) allowed me to integrate outputs directly into the dissertation. It also allowed me to import my transcripts directly as words instead of typing them out which would have discouraged me from using it. Delve also offers collaborative features for sharing projects with peers or supervisors, which, although not required in this study and I didn’t use it, could benefit larger team-based research. I selected Delve over more complex packages because it provided the core functionality I required in a simpler and more accessible format. Also, because my supervisor advised me against using such. Lastly, the emails from customer Support helped me learn some tips about using the software which I might not have figured out myself, such as merging codes under a theme.

#### Cons

I can’t fault anything about Delve. I only feel it is quite on the high end price-wise. And this might discourage price sensitive students (which they are usually are) from using it.

Excellent; I reviewed a number of CAQDAS platforms - NVivo, Quirkos, Dedoose, MaxQDA - each has their strengths mostly reflected by what type of data you with which you are working, but Delve seemed the most straightforward and intuitive. Customer service was outstanding.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

Delve provides an easy interface with straightforward and intuitive operations for uploading a formatted transcript, creating codes/subcodes, and assigning snippets to codes. There is an optional AI engine, an ability to export files including a code book and the coding document. You can collaborate on files with someone who is also a registered user. It has an excellent price point for a student with a valid .edu email address; first two weeks free, $18/month after or $200 for the year - typically $600/yr for an individual investigator. There are a number of very useful tutorials that made navigating the platform easy even for a Luddite like me; more importantly, it allows one to focus on the coding rather than how to present the work.

#### Cons

The online platform provides a rich visual experience; the exported files lack the visual appeal of the online experience.

Delve was the perfect tool that I found at exactly the right time. It would have taken me much longer to finish my dissertation without Delve! Everyone conducting qualitative analysis should use it. I am a professor, and I recently gave a presentation to a group of professors that regularly do qualitative research, and they all agreed that Delve looks like a great platform that will help them in the future!

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5

#### Pros

Delve was a Godsend when I needed it most! I was working on my Doctor of Business Administration in Finance, and part of my requirements was that I had to conduct some qualitative analysis in addition to some quantitative analysis for my dissertation. Delve was extremely helpful in helping me learn to quickly and efficiently conduct qualitative analysis of my transcripts using their platform. I could not recommend this anymore than I already am!

#### Cons

You can only do up to three levels of coding on the qualitative data. I remember wanting to do more than three levels, but I couldn't and maybe that is by design.

Saved a huge amount of time when working with a large data set. My project involved identifying key themes in consultation feedback. The feedback range in scope and breadth from big picture to granular issues. Delve allowed me to quickly identify, code and group the themes in my data, enabling me to provide a summary of the feedback in an accessible way.

#### Ratings breakdown

#### Pros

Delve was easy to set up and get started right away. 14 day free trial was generous, as is maintaining retention of your data when you cancel/pause your subscription. I actually completed my project within this trial period, but was so appreciative of the value it delivered to the project I paid for 1 month anyway. Delve made categorising/coding qualitative data easy and allowed for easy identification of key themes in the data.

#### Cons

I would have liked to be able to select multiple elements of text and coded them simultaneously. This may be related to how my text was formatted when I imported it into Delve, but each paragraph mark was treated as creating a new 'snippet' of text and so I couldn't select multiple paragraphs at one time and code them to the same theme.
