### Most mentioned pros

- We engaged with TestGorilla hoping for a full trial of both personality and technical assessments as an alternative to Predictive Index. Although their UI looked great and responses were fast, we never received trial access to the complete suite.
- i love the ability to share info with other physicians and not have to worry about taking it to them
- We were able to screen several programmer applicants and it revealed those who had the potential to be great developers vs. those which were lacklustre.

### Most mentioned cons

- I was charged for an annual subscription I will never use. When I contacted customer support to politely explain my mistake, I was attended to by anonymous representatives who did not follow up on my case and did nothing to help me.
- After contacting them within 1-2 hours to say that we didn’t wish to use the product, we requested a refund for the subscription fee.
- Better than expected, but the lack of a short term month to month subscription is a problem for us.

#### Pros

TestGorilla has a vide variety of tests and based on scientifical approach combined with strong practical expertise of TG team. TG reduces your time for screening and preliminary interviewing of employees. Once the test passed you can go to screening of portfolio [technical staff] or references list [management] not using time for more interviews of more you actually need to judge the choice to hire.

#### Cons

Some tests, especially for soft skills have a lot of questions - it splits focus and some can be not clear answered. Technical - needed Prospective June level for rising stars to be choosen cause some programming level tests are hard to pass, it makes reliability but does not help to employer to save costs. There is lack of integration with platforms for remote hire of contractors: UpWork, Glassdoor, Toptal. I wish TestGorilla will cooperate with large institution it make it more popular.

#### Reasons for choosing TestGorilla

Very professional and open minded team of TestGorilla. Platform is really stable and is more creative space less testing virtual place. TG has vide variety of tasks and domains.

Pricing was very similar to Testlify, however, I liked much better TG´s branding and feel.

### Limited Trial Access Despite Quick Sales Rep feedback

We engaged with TestGorilla hoping for a full trial of both personality and technical assessments as an alternative to Predictive Index. Although their UI looked great and responses were fast, we never received trial access to the complete suite. That limited visibility into core features left us feeling undervalued and unable to properly evaluate the product.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 3/5
- Functionality: 3/5

#### Pros

TestGorilla has a modern, intuitive interface that’s easy to navigate. Their pricing is competitive, and their support team was quick to respond to emails.

#### Cons

The free trial is very limited—we never got full access to the personality or technical assessments we needed. The core tools felt too basic, and despite frequent emails, the sales rep couldn’t unlock the features we requested.

#### Reasons for choosing TestGorilla

It was a trial. We were testing user experience, collaboration tools, gathered feedback from managers and HRs.

#### Reasons for switching to TestGorilla

We’d recently tightened our HR tools budget and needed a more cost-effective solution than what we were paying with Predictive Index. TestGorilla’s lower per-user and pay-as-you-go pricing initially looked like a better fit for our lean hiring budget—so we decided to switch to keep costs in line without a long-term commitment.

#### Vendor response

Hi Manshuk, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and for giving TestGorilla a try. We're glad to hear that you found our interface intuitive and appreciated the responsiveness of our support team. That said, we're truly sorry to hear that your trial experience didn’t meet your expectations. We understand how important it is to fully explore key features like personality and technical assessments, especially when evaluating alternatives. Your feedback highlights a gap in how we support trial users, and we take that seriously. We'd appreciate it if you could provide us with more information so that we can investigate further. Thanks again for your honest input. – The TestGorilla Team

### Good but subscription model is ver misleading

Dissapointing. We should have used other tools. Or we should have designed our test in house. We are a start up with less than 20 people.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 2/5
- Customer support: 3/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

The tool worked, the tests are good and features are well developed. Easy to use. Good cheating detection. Good process, good performance of the app.

#### Cons

As a team of <20 people, We're shocked when we completed 1 hire and asked for cancellation. The subscription model was misleading — we thought it was monthly, but only afterward learned it was a locked 12-month contract. We finished our hire and emailed support almost 20 times begging for cancellation or a fair solution, but were only offered a rigid 3-month pause. Now we’re stuck paying for a service we don’t use. For a platform calling itself startup-friendly, this feels deeply misaligned. Clearer communication and flexible options are badly needed.

#### Reasons for choosing TestGorilla

Because someone we trusted used testgorilla for job application

#### Reasons for switching to TestGorilla

We want to try new tool and someone suggested to try TestGorilla

#### Pros

Functionality that they offer is quite available and needed, and it seems like they have everything I need.

#### Cons

It seems like they have everything I need, but they only offer contracts that are quite pricey. If you're hiring your first employee, and you actually don't need this service for a year, customer support is quite disappointed too. It takes them so long to answer, and they just don't get you. One more thing: when I spoke to their salesperson during the demo call, he didn't even know about all options they offer. For example, in my case, he didn't know that they offer some special terms to VC-based startups.

#### Ratings breakdown

#### Pros

The availability of tests and ability to personalize tests as needed for our organization. It is nice to monitor tests from dashboard.

#### Cons

That you had to commit to an annual agreement, could not delete only archive applicants that you gave tests to (if using TEST applicants - still had to see them on dashboard).

#### Vendor response

Hi Beth, Thanks for your feedback. We're glad the test variety and customization worked well for your team. We understand the concerns about the annual commitment and will share that feedback with the team. We also appreciate your note on candidate experience. ### A good testing platform with hidden pricing strategy that increases your cost 3X

Good with testing Bad with pricing

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 2/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 3/5

#### Pros

Good set of questions. Though not used would like to develop set of questions for new subject areas.

#### Cons

1. My biggest problem is to pay $150 every two months due to invalidating a assessment. As informed by your support: "The time limit on assessments is to protect the reliability and integrity of the tests, as having them available for extended periods of time increases the risk of candidates finding ways to practice the tests, or sharing the answers with each other, or posting the questions on the internet. These situations would not only force us to take those questions off our platform but also decrease the validity and reliability of the results of your candidates." This logic does not make sense since one can and will clone an assessment every two months to create a new one to continue the tests and pay $150 per clone. By cloning the assessment uses exactly the same questions. How does that take care of the reasoning above? 2. Even worse is every time you want correct a typo you have to pay $150 since the only way you can do by cloning a test rather than editing one. 3. The problem is the buyer has no idea about these additional cost when they are buying the service. The service fee is shown as $300 but actually it is $300 + 5 x $150 = $1050 which is more than 3 times the advertised price.

#### Vendor response

Hi Sky! Thanks for your feedback. Just to let you know, when you clone an assessment the question sets in each test refresh and a totally new set of questions, from the dedicated question bank for that test, appears in the test! That way we can help you to minimize the chance of a candidate finding the questions online and cheating their way to a job at your company :) We know that the cost of a mis-hire like this can be $20,000++, so in reality we believe that a charge of $150 per additional assessment to minimize the chances of this occurring, is worth it...please reach out to us at help@testgorilla.com to clarify any other queries you might have

It’s good, like it, looking forward to to stepping up a level

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 2/5

#### Pros

Easy to use & fairly intuitive, modern software

#### Cons

It’s not very pleasing to look at as a candidate- that could be redesigned. Would be great if it were more gamified, have more pictures and not be so word heavy across most of the different assessments. The test where candidates pick their top 10 personal attributes/ behaviours/ competencies/ strengths & it’s meandered against what the client has pre selected that they’re looking for could be more sophisticated… we’ve had client feedback that they want us to measure competencies like this test, but that this is too basic/ more prone to people guessing what they think the client will want from them & putting that in rather than the truth… that’s possible in any test, yes, but other tests are better at having measures against that.

#### Reasons for choosing TestGorilla

I can’t remember which we tested now, there were a lot, but TG was the most modern- others were super out dated in their set up and delivery, and candidate experience

#### Reasons for switching to TestGorilla

Way too expensive for how often we use it

#### Vendor response

Hi Vanessa! Thanks a lot for taking the time to leave us this detailed feedback. Great suggestion re the gamification of the candidate experience, and I have passed this one to the Product team. Re the Culture add/Motivation test - this is also interesting feedback and I will pass it to the Test Development team. #### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5

- Customer support: 1/5
- Functionality: 1/5

#### Pros

The user interface is nice and professional. It's easy to administer

#### Cons

They claim to offer a "free trial where you can test anything". This is misleading - they make it appear you must upgrade your plan (minimum of $300) in order to try the tests. It is not clear you can test premium features without upgrading. I upgraded so I could try a couple of the tests (Laravel, PHP). I sent the tests to myself and realized they are terrible tests and don't provide any useful screening. So, I tried to use the "custom test" feature but it appeared I needed to upgrade again ($3600) in order to try it. After complaining and requesting a refund, they asked I do a 15-minute call with their CSM to discuss. I agreed with the stipulation that I expected a refund in exchange for my time on the call. After the CSM spent 25 minutes explaining how it was my fault, I got nothing for a refund and wasted a lot of time providing free feedback to them. In the end, it was a terrible experience, we spent $300 and got 0 value from their platform, they refused to issue a refund, and I wasted a bunch of time providing them feedback and writing this review. Lastly, they told me they cannot turn off the auto-billing on my account, only I can do that. However, they deactivated my account so I can't login. I guess we'll see if they auto-bill me for next year's subscription.

#### Vendor response

Hi Andy, thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback..even though it's unfortunate that you didn't feel that TG was the right fit for your needs. We pride ourselves in being a customer focussed company, and we're sorry you didn't enjoy your experience. However, we do feel that it's clear from our website and from the in-platform info that it's possible to test all the premium features and tests for free on internal users, including the Laravel and PHP test and the custom test feature. Please know that you are welcome back to TestGorilla at any time, and we wish you the best of luck with your hiring process!

### Easy to use applicant testing platform

Using test Gorilla has cut down on a lot of the administrative burden of assessing candidates. It's great for high volume hiring queues and receiving prompt, consistent feedback on test scores. A few of our candidates have experienced issues with completing tests (e.g., unclear instructions, aggressive time constraints), but overall the applicant experience (and my experience as administrator) have been positive.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

I like that the platform is straightforward and easy to use. There aren't a lot of unnecessary bells and whistles to get in the way. Setting up assessments and inviting applicants is very quick and easy. The layout makes it easy to compare candidates about each other.

#### Cons

I don't like that you aren't able to view the tests without assigning them to yourself and manually taking them. This makes scoring somewhat opaque, and it is hard to judge if the tests are 100% aligned to the knowledge/skills you are looking to test for. I understand the rationale behind locking down the tests, but I feel that the rewards of showing employers the tests they are assigning would outweigh the risks.

#### Vendor response

Hi Graham! We wanted to stop by and let you know we've rolled out a ton of new features since your review, including a brand-new one this month that allows customers to preview assessments before inviting candidates. We do recommend taking a look.

#### Ratings breakdown

#### Pros

I like the ease with which you can either invite candidates to a assessment and also send them reminders for the assessment. Saves time and effort. I also like how you can change the status of a candidate to "Interviewed", "Candidate withdrew application", "Rejected" etc. Also the Anit-Cheating monitoring is super useful.

#### Cons

I would only say it is a bit expensive. There is nothing else I can think of in terms of improvement to the product. Maybe an option to also save candidate contact numbers and Linkedin URLs so that the dashboard can be used to directly to make calls etc.

#### Vendor response

Hi Aarzoo! Thanks a lot for your feedback. And thank you for your suggestions. I'll be sure to pass those along to our product team, who are always looking for ways to improve our customer offering :) Thanks for being part of the TG community

#### Pros

Easy to use and manage the candidate pipelines. Once the test is setup, it's very easy to send it to the candidates, track, and evaluate.

#### Cons

It's difficult to setup the test that's applicable to a developers' day-to-day. I receive complaints from some candidates that the interface is difficult to use, some OS compatibility issues and code editor doesn't always work as expected.

Very good - gives us more confidence in our new hires - new hires we have brought on are performing very well.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 3/5
- Functionality: 3/5

#### Pros

Ease of downloading to excel and PDF files.

#### Cons

Testing levels are subjective - Intermediate level people end up doing senior level coding reviews for example. Testing levels should mimic the market. for example Python Coding challenges should have the titles of "Junior" "Intermediate" or "Senior". Also - please add more testing for machine learning and AI applications - this is the future and it's already here:)

#### Reasons for choosing TestGorilla

Ease of use, speed of deployment - easy downloads for record keeping and sharing.

### Good Product - Easy to use

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Very easy to use this product, allowing me to set up appropriate technical assessments for key positions. Helped reduce the amount of time spent doing one-on-one interviews with numerous candidates, helped us narrow down the candidates we really wanted to spend time with in order to make a better informed decision regarding hiring.

#### Cons

No real cons, other than a couple of candidates did not receive invitation emails. There is no way for us to know whether these statements were true and we did end up spending time chasing candidates that had not responded. Would be good to have an option for candidates to accept or reject participation in assessment so that we did not have to chase unnecessarily if candidate had decided to opt-out.
