CAKE is a cloud-based point of sale (POS) solution for restaurants. Primary features include payment acceptance, guest and waitlist manager, online ordering, gift cards and tableside ordering.

It allows users to track real-time sales at different locations, wages, hours and overtime. The reporting module allows owners and managers to drill down into sales reports to find sales by week, day or hour. Payroll reporting helps users calculate wages and overtime and sales can even be compared to labor costs each hour.

Peak hours tracking and customer tracking are also available on-demand in real time. It offers an offline mode that allows users to manage restaurants and accept payments when internet connection is down. It offers integration with PayPal, Xero, Orca, 7Shifts, Quickbooks and Avero.

It supports Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems. It can also be accessed by smartphones and tables. Support is offered via email and over the phone.

CAKE

Customer service has been great. very timely with call backs, good follow-up, etc. system is easy to use, easy to set up from the admin side. our staff likes it. Most of the major issues we've encountered are in the process of being improved for better functionality, per our requests and discussions with our account representative.

Pros

Ease of use. Ability to access admin features directly from the terminal ( i used to have to go to the main computer to do anything on our old system. stock counts are nice and easy to use.

Cons

a handful of tiny things that annoy me, but nothing major or worth even bringing up here.

A very smooth transition from previous POS.

Pros

The tech support is great! The software is easy to use both for the management and service staff.

Cons

It isn't as flexible as I'd like for custom historical reporting. I'd like to see the "Smart tax" features I've had on other POS systems.

Super easy to use and it did not break the bank to buy it. Plus customer service is easy to work with and get in touch with when needed.

Certain features on the employee clock in and out. I have had trouble fixing times for employees who forgot to clock out till the next day.

Lots of features are great, hopefully some big improvements down the line. Support staff has been very helpful and easy to work with.

Pros

The search feature is awesome. Never used a restaurant POS with that ability.

Cons

There are features that are common for restaurants that are not currently programmed in but the staff has been working to make those changes happen. Fingers crossed!

Excellent service and great support.

Pros

The cake POS system is rather easy to setup. It gave me more time to worry about the business instead of the setup.

Cons

Nothing as of yet. Although some of the reporting can be made more phone friendly to run.

Pros

the order menu is very easy to use and learn quickly. the drop down menus are easy to understand. the shortcuts help a lot. new users are still able to use the system while they learn the best and most efficient ways to place orders.

Cons

would be nice to have some more control from my office, but many of the issues have been addressed and added over the last 3 years. also would be nice to change how things are printed to the kitchen, especially the order of things

Gerneral review

Cake point of |Sale has been great for us. It is so much easier to program and run reports and it is all right there. I wish that Sysco items could be linked into the system so you can analyze menu items and price them out better within the system.

Maybe a little more time going through the function in the beginning if you had never used another pos system I think you may be confused with the trainers speed of instruction.

Which POS to buy

In the four years that we have been using Cake I rarely have to call to correct an issue. I can usually can correct it my self by watching the FAQ or by calling support.

Pros

This is a very affordable POS system to buy or lease. Easy to use and the support is there 24/7.

Cons

Not able to close cash by remote but have been told it's coming soon as an update.

The overall experience has been good so far. 85% of the time the customer service has been able to resolve our issues right away with few occasions when they needed more time to consult their technical team asking their engineers to review the issue to get back to us.

Pros

24/7 customer service is the best option enabling us to call and receive customer support at any time. We have contacted support line many times and the longest we have waited, so far, has bee 3 minutes. We have not used any other software in the past to compare it with, but it has been useful and reliable so far.

Cons

Though customer service is available 24 / 7 and they are courteous, the software seems to be limited and their process does not allow their engineers to add some of the required features necessary/important to the individual businesses. They require multiple business requests before they look into adding some features.

Cake Software changed my business!

overall, CAKE has been a huge asset to my business and I would switch to them again in a heartbeat

Pros

We switched from another POS system to cake and the difference is unreal. I saved enough money through processing alone in the first year to pay for the entire system.

The ease of use and customer service are top notch. Each time I have a problem come up, the CAKE operators have been more than helpful and program it specific to my needs

Cons

Somethings like combining tables and changing to togo orders are still under works
