CAKE is a cloud-based point of sale (POS) solution for restaurants. Primary features include payment acceptance, guest and waitlist manager, online ordering, gift cards and tableside ordering.

It allows users to track real-time sales at different locations, wages, hours and overtime. The reporting module allows owners and managers to drill down into sales reports to find sales by week, day or hour. Payroll reporting helps users calculate wages and overtime and sales can even be compared to labor costs each hour.

Peak hours tracking and customer tracking are also available on-demand in real time. It offers an offline mode that allows users to manage restaurants and accept payments when internet connection is down. It offers integration with PayPal, Xero, Orca, 7Shifts, Quickbooks and Avero.

It supports Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems. It can also be accessed by smartphones and tables. Support is offered via email and over the phone.

    I feel that the ease of use is the best part of this software. I also love the ability to add on the fly. All of the reports are amazing too.

    Cons

    Chip reader is not functioning. Also a way to book spots online and pay online would be nice.

    Cake has made starting my small restaurant of 1 employee, my husband and myself easy to maintain. We do not have to worry about reading handwriting, lost tickets, and so many other things that can go wrong with human errors. The main reason I chose the Cake system is because of the built in online ordering system. I do not have to pay a 3rd party for this feature, it has been flawless and a very important part of our business. The record keeping and report system saves so much time, the system sends reports to my accountant daily and monthly I just set it up and forget it. Time sheets, sales tax reports, so much more I could write a book. Overall the Cake system has been wonderful for us we just hit our one year make of opening this restaurant and we keep growing.

    Pros

    The POS register is easy to use my husband is not in the 21st century when is comes to technology, he is the only person that runs the register and inputs orders.

    Cons

    Nothing I can think of right now, there are a couple little features I would like but they are more for convenience for my restaurant.

    The kitchen printer relieved stress for our cooks. It was easy to keep a tab.

    Cons

    It took 3 years before we could block certain catagories from printing on our end of day closing receipt. We would have saved a ton in paper costs over these last 3 years if we could have chosen sooner what we wanted to print out.

    Poor Customer Support and Upgrades

    Very poor in general. They say they are all about customer service and this could not be further from the truth especially with upper levels of management. The engineering and customer service communications is horrible. I do think the software is good for the money, but, they are very slow in doing any upgrades if they do them at all. Dont bother putting in upgrade requests as they fall on deaf ears and if you inquire about them, they will have no response or answer.

    Pros

    Easy to use for the most part. Screens easy to read.

    Cons

    Check Splitting is very difficult and involves many steps. Daily Management Reports are not user friendly.
    Senior Management Customer Support is horrible. They call them "Customer Success Managers" which is clearly the wrong title. They are horrible at communicating among all customer support. Guest checks are very difficult to read along with credit card slips for the customers. Fonts are very small. Cash drawers are cheap. They do not offer any loyalty programs through their system and only punch card type of discounts. Very old technology.

    The Cake POS system is showing me in detail the sales of each item in an easy format. I am very impressed on having this as an owner.

    There is more applications I can use and my time is limited for implementing them. I would like to have online support to go through these applications.

    Cake POS has been the easiest POS system that I have ever dealt with. It is incredibly user-friendly, and the formatting is very simple! It takes less than a minute to make a menu change, or to adjust a timesheet. Not to mention, the reporting system they have is incredibly detailed and meticulous. It is every General Manager's dream! I would highly recommend Cake to anyone who is opening a restaurant or thinking about changing their system!

    It is hard to even find one thing to complain about when it comes to Cake! It's amazing!

    I love that we can change menus on the fly and have it be a seamless transition from our office to the restaurant.

    Pros

    I like the ability to see total sales on everything and being able to customize my reports based on just about anything I want.

    Cons

    I would like to be able to see reports beyond 100 days. Being able to compare current performance to previous years is vital for me as a business owner. Not having that option limits the usability for myself.

    I love how easy it is to use and understand. I can edit the menu without any instructions it is so intuitive. I also love the online platform.

    The reports aren't very customizable, you get what they make. If I could export more customizable reports that would make my life a lot easier

    Our service has been improving because we are being more attentive to guests since the system cuts down on time spent cashing guests out and time in kitchen. We expect the sales to increase because everything is getting priced correctly.

    Pros

    This software is so user friendly! Staff can retain all information when trained, easy step by step instructions!

    Cons

    There is not an easy option for a single item to be split between two checks. Often times we have customers wanting to split an appetizer between 2 or 3 checks, no easy way to do so without throwing off inventory or discounts etc.

    The chief benefit for us was the reduced time in training new employees. Previously, employees had to learn a "short hand" to take orders or make orders, it took quite some time and some never fully became fluent. Interaction with the customer has become more clear, less mistaken orders, etc. Overall, we are happy with this product and would purchase again.

    Pros

    The menu is easy to edit, training new employees takes much less time than our previous system, no major problems.

    Cons

    A complete menu change or even price change can be very time consuming. The customer interface can be difficult for some clients to use. If they press the screen and it doesn't register, they'll press harder to no avail. The customer screen seems to like a light touch best.

    I like the reporting and the ease of tracking of all transactions. I am able to make menu changes from the comfort of home if neccesary. Adding new menu items is very easy. Running credit cards is very fast, much faster than the standard EMV processors. There is no server that needs to be rebooted almost daily. We have just started using the system for about 2 months and are still being amazed at the ease of use.

    Cons

    Some of the permissions needed to do certain things allows them to do other things that arent neccesary. But these are important to other establishments that are much larger than ours. We used our old system for 14 years and you need to understand that things are going to be different and not like your old and once you embrace it you will love it. All the cons we had are not concerns any longer.
