Powerful POS Software

Wonderful!

PROS

This is a full featured food service POS software. It will meet the needs of 95% of all restaurant operators. It was designed with functionality and stability in mind.

CONS

Some features are missing but development is continuing and software update releases happen every month.

A decent company that wants to do better, but may not be there yet.

Overall, we are generally happy with Heartland's POS side of the company (we would not recommend the HR side, but that is another story). The customer service typically responds quickly. Sometimes I wish they would come out a little more quickly, especially since it seems that their equipment only ever breaks during a busy dinner rush. However, they seem to care about our experience as a customer and even took the time to meet with us several times to go over different options we could use.

PROS

Heartland was a very low startup cost and overall had a better setup than what we had before. Their online ordering is included at no additional charge, which is huge. Overall, the customer service team has been pretty helpful and reliable, even if it sometimes takes a day or two to get a response.

CONS

What they save in low startup fees, they absolutely kill you on the back end with equipment "rental" fees. We are paying an arm and a leg for equipment where we are locked in to a 3-year contract. The equipment doesn't break down as much as it definitely used to, but still not worth the crazy expense. If I went with Heartland again, I would rather pay up front for equipment costs and save up for when it inevitably breaks down again.

Reason for choosing Heartland Restaurant

Heartland had a much cheaper startup cost since we didn't have to buy all of the equipment up front.

Reasons for switching to Heartland Restaurant

Their online ordering was included for free whereas slice charged $7/ order (split between you and the customer).

Vendor Response

PROS

The software that was offered worked well.

CONS

This software does not include enough options. A more all in one POS would be desirable.

Heartland bought Mobilebytes and we still love Mobilebytes

Overall we like and will continue to use this product. Definitely one of the best options on the market.

PROS

This system is so user-friendly and both the back and and the front end make a lot of sense for everyone that encounters them. The online ordering is some of the best in the industry and we used this feature to pivot during covid to great success.

CONS

Splitting checks sometimes doesn't work as well as it should. The subscription feels like a lot of $$ compared to previous POS systems.

Reason for choosing Heartland Restaurant

The superior online ordering platform

Reasons for switching to Heartland Restaurant

We needed a better online ordering platform
