Parsley makes my life SO much easier!

This software has helped me single-handedly write recipes, menus, and purchase orders for a prepared meal delivery service operation from the startup stage. It's enabled me to put great detail into my recipes and it's given some much-needed structure and efficiency to the entire process.

Pros

The interface is very user-friendly, which is a big thing for me. Also, there are a lot of ways to customize each recipe entry to tailor it to exactly what I need, which is huge because there can be so much variance when it comes to writing, testing, and preparing different types of seasonal recipes. The menu and purchasing sections are an absolute life-saver! It takes about 1/4 of the time it used to take, which is huge when you work long hours especially. Another major plus is the fact that the service is fantastic. Too often these days, companies don't want to listen to their customers' feedback and products just don't get better. In the time that I've been using Parsley, I've received prompt responses in communication and they've even implemented some of my suggestions. There are regular updates as well as regular communication regarding new features, upcoming changes, and things of that sort. Overall a great product for anyone in the foodservice industry to stay organized and efficient.

Outstanding Food Software!

Parsley software has enabled me to run my small scale food production business so much more effectively and efficiently. I find the software intuitive and user friendly.

Pros

I love using Parsley! I can now keep track of all our recipes, monitor our food costs, create weekly purchase orders and update nutritional labels. Best of all the customer support is outstanding. Any questions I've had are answered quickly by a follow up phone call or email.

Cons

I wish Parsley had the option of scaling by batches, not just servings.

Cuts down on admin/office time tremendously

I own a office lunch catering business that features three rotating menus every week, in addition to the rest of our catalogue. Parsley makes it really easy to plan, purchase, and produce all of our menus, eliminating hours and hours of admin. What else is great, being the chef and the owner, is that when I need to do ad hoc recipes, its very easy to estimate how to make a hotel pan of something, enter that recipe into parsley, and then check your work by scaling up to a 100 person batch (whoa, that's way too much garlic) and then down to a 6 pan (not enough mayo!). This has really let me delegate things I don't have a written recipe for, or am making up as I go, without having to personally make it myself.

Pros

It's very fast and easy to enter recipes, and if you need to add or edit ingredients you can do so without leaving the recipe, which is different then most other programs. It's also very easy to estimate recipes, and check your own work by scaling them up and down. The fact that so many common inventory items come pre-loaded into the system is a huge value add, and really lets you hit the ground running the first day entering in menus and recipes. We have over 600 inventory items, and it took a few hours one afternoon to add everything that was missing, using the import function.

Cons

It's still pretty new, so some parts are missing and still in development, but I am really impressed with how many features have been added since I started using it 3 months ago. It would be nice if it integrated with more programs, but I imagine it will in due time.

Reasons for switching to Parsley

Caterease has an extremely dated interface (multiple windows that need to be opened, saved, closed, etc). It is like using windows 98. Parsley has a much more modern interface (a nav bar along the top and side, with a large work area)

This program has been wonderful!! Saves money, creates lists, and manages our food spending.

Pros

Recipe measurement configurations, prep lists, 'event' forecasting, and nutritional information listing. This program really helps our company stay on task, and allows us to 'run lean' per se. Minimize our prepping and reduce our wastes. On top of all this, the support staff has been amazing with her customer service. We have spoken many times when I have had questions or did not understand something. She will screen share with me and walk me through everything, until I have full understanding.

Cons

Sometimes there are hiccups here and there. However, the support team continue to fix any issues as they arise. They respond quickly to an issue and get it fixed on the same day. At times I wish we could upload our CRM data directly into Parsley; instead of manually entering things. But that is okay. They have recently allowed downloading of select pieces from the program. This tells me they are continuing to make this program user friendly with other programs.

So Happy to have found Parsley!

Pros

I have had the pleasure of working with Parsley for the past six months in my profession as a contract catering kitchen lead. I have found it to be a very robust and flexible platform for a variety of tasks, most notably recipe-scaling and prep list creation. I am continually amazed at how much it has reduced waste and improved my prep efficiency. I highly recommend this software for any chef, caterer and restaurant owner who is interested in a tool that has the potential to dramatically impact cost effectiveness. I know that I'm hooked!

Cons

Clearly, you must be prepared to invest the time to initially enter recipes, ingredients and vendors. However, once that investment has been made, recipe modifications, price updates and other adjustments are easily accommodated.

Parsley has optimized our business

Pros

Parsley is the epitome of ease and functionality. From Ordering and Receiving, to Cost Analysis and Scaling recipes, everything makes sense without fluff. I've seen some competitors offer a seemingly "prettier" product, but the function of Parsley is 10 out of 10, and it's still very nice looking

Cons

I wouldn't call it a con, but I would like to see if an app comes out so that we can become even more fluid in the process. It works great on mobile now, but an app might make it more optimized.

Parsley: Fantastic for Emerging CPG Brands

We manufacture nutritional snack bars and constantly use Parsley to develop new formulations. We check how the Nutritional Information Panel changes as we alter recipes, revise and iterate. Once we have the final formula, we save it and use Parsley for production runs.

Pros

It's simple (actually idiot-proof) and flexible. That's a rare combination.

Cons

I really can't think of anything. It's great.
