Affordable & Simple Point of Sale

Our little shop manages retail sales as well as services thru this POS. It's perfect.

PROS

The product is very easy to use. Our team are not overly highly computer savvy and we are able to use it pretty much flawlessly. It's made a big difference in our operations.

CONS

I would like there to be a report to run for seeing all our accounts receivable.

Compatible software

It is a stable and reliable Point of Sale solution that we have been using for many years. Actually since the days of DOS. We have grown as a business and we are happy that Retail Plus has evolved as well.

PROS

We use Retail Plus exclusively for 7 Point of Sale stations. There are many features built into Retail Plus, such as product kits, product size matrix, customer bonus points, etc. The database structure allows us to easily integrate with our own inventory management software and our online store.

CONS

As our business evolves there will always be additional features that we would like to see in the software. Right now, we would like to have the option of setting purchase quantity limits for some products that are in short supply. Also we would like to be able to offer customers the option of receiving "green friendly" email receipts instead of printed receipts.

Compatibility with our own inventory software and very reasonable price.

Problematic

Had problems and the only support was it must be my computer. Even though its brand new. Just restore from recent back up. Yesterdays backup is no good either because its been corupt for a week. Even tho says backup succesful

PROS

It was a Local Island Company . It was easy to install.

CONS

Program Crashes all the time. Searching Items it crashes. It may work ok with a couple hundred items. I have about 3000 items and it cant deal with it.

Hello Mark, 3000 items would still be considered a fairly small inventory. Chronic problems often indicate a computer contains malware. Please run the virus scanner and remove the web browser from your point-of-sale, and avoid

Variety store - review

PROS

The software is easy to use, and easy to teach to new staff. Shortcuts with the F keys make completing transactions much quicker. If I had a touch screen monitor, it would be even better.

CONS

I don't like how this software is meant to be used with a touch screen monitor. When using the fastkeys, we must use a computer mouse, which is more time consuming. My biggest negative with this software is the inability to properly manage inventory levels when offering a "2 for" deal. For instance, we sell Monster energy at 2 for $5. I have to create my own barcode for the deal, which means the inventory for each flavour of beverage is not deducted when completing the sale. It would also be nice to have an option to change inventory numbers to a group of products all at once as opposed to individually. When you have 1000's of skews in my type of store, makes inventory management time consuming.

Best POS for the price I could fine.

I like Retail Plus enough to use it for the last 10+ years and will be using it for another 10+ years if all goes well.

PROS

We have been using Retail Plus for the last 10+ years starting with version 2.5. The best features for us are the inventory and ordering systems and of course we can not forget about the sales screen. Installed all version myself on 4 pc's, 1 main and 3 workers.

CONS

The biggest problem we have with the software is the way the program "creates a purchase order", I always pick the Supplier I want to order from but the software likes to pick the supplier with the cheapest cost, so i am constantly changing the supplier for that part back to the supplier I want to order from.

I choose Retail Plus Point Of Sale after looking at more then a dozen other products, because at the time it was the least expensive solution with the most to offer.

Great Software for all size businesses

The experience has been great and all new staff seem to catch on very quickly. This is why I've been buying the license for many years.

PROS

I found this software to be extremely user friendly. Anything you may want can be found by just looking at the drop down lists. All the different reports are great.

CONS

No real cons that I'm aware of. My staff have had the occasional freeze up but that could be related to something else.

Ease of use, reporting that was important to me and the price seemed excellent value for the money. Also, I appreciated the great help I was given when first purchased. Actually, anytime I've had an issue it has been resolved in a timely manner.

Small Business POS/Inventory management

We have used Retail Plus for over 8 years and have been very satisfied. Support has been quickly and effectively provided on the few problems we have experienced.

PROS

Ease of use, speed of system and a very good cost savings.

CONS

My only complaint is about returns. The system defaults to backing out the cost of goods on any return regardless of whether it is returned to inventory. This will give a false cogs value if it is not possible to recover the original cost.

The easy day-to-day usage together with the excellent inventory input and control features makes for a straight-forward and dependable product. With so many other variables in retail sales, it is a joy to have a worry-free POS system!

PROS

Retail Plus addresses the key needs of a small retail shop. Straight-forward and easy to install; clear and concise in application; great inventory control features.

CONS

Have no negative issues with Retail Plus.

A small business owner's take on Retail Plus

I'm sure that there is much greater use for this program that we are not taking advantage of. There are some minor usage issues but not really anything that would cause me to swith to another system at this time.

PROS

It is very easy for staff to use and quite intuitive

CONS

Some years after having purchased our program we were surprised by being served with an annual fee.

Thank you for being a long-time user, The annual support and licensing fee was implemented with a new version of the software back in 2012. The big recession caused a big industry shake-out and we had little choice but to charge more but it's still the best deal around.

PROS

It's easy to use for sales and overall bookkeeping -monthly sales etc...

CONS

When the inventory is changed, the pricing gets screwed up; either everything is rounded to the nearest dollar or the decimal places are 10 digits long. I've had sales come out of the wrong place in the inventory; sold X, inventory says I sold Y. I have contacted you about both problems in the past and received no help.

Day in the Life of a Retail Scuba Shop!

Excellent! Only had a couple issues in all these years and were quickly resolved with phone support!

Ease of use, reliable. Easy to categorize inventory for Departments. Tracking of Customer purchases!

CONS

For Our type of Business, Scheduling of Training / Classes and Calendar functions would be amazing!

Hello Matt, Thanks for your comments. Retail Plus does basic invoicing but is mostly focused on counter sales and web commerce. If your business has a lot of on-account customers you may wish to use something purpose-built like Quickbooks.

Great, easy to use product.

I have enjoyed using Retail Plus, I appreciate that I get the developer when I contact support, and that he is always knowledgeable and easy to work with. I am looking forward to the challenge of linking my e-commerce website in the near future.

Easy point of sale that help me with my tax reports and daily monthly and yearly sales

Easy to use and could expand it way beyond what I use it for. Not flashy or heavy so it functions nicely on older computers

CONS

License renewal can be burdensome but not at the fault of the vendor I just need to slow down and read. Every year when I renew I mess it up but support is awesome and they fix what I cant

It has been very helpful to my business.

PROS

It is the mosy reasonably priced software available for small businesses.

CONS

Discounts are not displayed individually. If you make a mistake, it is awkward to delete that mistake.

Inexpensive and easy to use

We had a different software that needed to be fixed and upgraded a lot, a lot more expensive and complicated, since we switched several years ago all these issues are a thing of the past

Cost, usefulness and easiness to teach the new employees, normally in a couple of hours

Removed the time clock, the screen is kind of small, it could be larger

Retail Plus is Great!

PROS

Inventory management and POS features makes software a must for our business and has been very reliable for us for the last 15 years of use. Also easy to use and to maintain.

CONS

I think the only con about this software is the yearly subscription fee. But I guess it helps improve the product.

Easy to use POS software

I am not too tech savvy. Retail Plus Point of Sale was easy to set up. I called customer service when I had questions and the response was quick and helped me resolve my issues. Easy to train new staff and has all the features needed for a small business.

Quality POS

We really like it.

PROS

Ease of use for all staff. It keeps inventory under control.

CONS

Some bugs that we still don’t have fixes for. Still can’t reprint a receipt for our customers.
