The approach was very collaborative throughout and we remained on track with the initial project plan timetable. Any configuration issues were dealt with quickly and the team have full buy in and confidence in using the system on their own. Report generation Reporting has been one of the biggest benefits. Datarails pulls our data together into one consolidated source, so we no longer spend hours manually gathering and reconciling spreadsheets. Management accounts, budget-versus-actual comparisons and variance analysis (with drill down functionality) can now be produced much faster and more consistently. Once the templates were set up, they are easy to roll forward each month and can be evolved over time. The software has already delivered time savings across the team. #### Cons The initial set up has quite a high degree of complexity and nuance. The ability to track version changes and share data across multiple user groups makes the tool very valuable in scenario analysis. Compared to other SaaS companies, I have never had an onboarding experience like Datarails. The team instinctively knew where we wanted to get and efficiently got us to that goal without making the process overwhelming. I was expecting to have to learn a whole new language and buy huge training manuals from Amazon, that could not have been further from the truth. #### Cons Given the complexity of the source data and the functionality of the tool it can be difficult to troubleshoot when you first start using the tool. But again, the implementation and support teams have been right there to support and teach you how to fix those problems. We went from having enormous, clunky Excel files to having a Datarails report package that could be refreshed instantly and didn't crash the computer. The onboarding support is very strong, and they strike a great balance of getting the work done themselves while also leaving enough to my team that we were able to learn the system so we're prepared for go-live. #### Cons It seems like there is a lot of technical work required on the back end to get everything to work the way it should. This comes with the territory of being such a robust program, but if I wanted to make a new report from scratch I think I'd need to rely on their consultants or dedicate a lot more time mastering the system. I use the system everyday for reporting, along with building widgets within a number of different dashboards. Having most of our financial reports in one secure online environment has allowed for easier organisation. The widgets were easy to learn and build, and a great way of seeing quick insights to our data. These features have proved very useful when attending manager meetings as part of our month end process. #### Cons On the odd occasion I would be using a file downloaded from the web environment, but sometimes the submit feature would error. Sometimes I would need to save the file locally and upload manually through the web environment. Also the limitations of being able to manually sync data from Xero due to the token limits.
