### Rating distribution

- 4 stars: 135 reviews (15%)
- 3 stars: 6 reviews (1%)
- 2 stars: 2 reviews (0%)
- 1 star: 1 reviews (0%)

### Most mentioned pros

- The platform makes compensation modeling clear and flexible, which helps our sales team understand exactly how their payouts are calculated.
- The ability to use Excel like syntax made the transition easier for our team, as we didn't need to learn a proprietary coding language to build out the comp plans.
- Overall positive - streamlines communication of variable comp to large sales teams, good capability on integrations and estimate my payout feature is a hit.

### Most mentioned cons

- One of the more frustrating parts of CaptivateIQ is that initial configuration and model building can feel overly complex, especially for teams without dedicated ops resources. Once everything is in place it works well, but getting there can require more time, support, and trial-and-error than expected.
- The fact that the website is not integrated with workday so we need to job on both platforms to check payslip and proposed commission pay information.
- Drop downs for filter options themselves take way too long to load or search for the appropriate value.

### Sales Rep review of CaptivateIQ

- Overall rating: 5/5

Captivate was EASY to integrate and simple to utilize ongoing. I'm an individual contributor user and it fits my needs perfectly.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Captivate makes it easy to quickly review the high level commissions reports, and also makes it easy to respond to discrepancies/errors with my finance team. As an end user who was formerly using an Excel spreadsheet "solution", Captivate is world's beyond.

#### Cons

Nothing comes to mind. Again, this is world's beyond our previous capability, and I'm thrilled with the functionality.

#### Reasons for switching to CaptivateIQ

Because using excel to track commissions is like beating sticks and rocks together.

### Excel-like syntax makes complex commission plans manageable

- Overall rating: 5/5

Overall, CaptivateIQ has saved us days of manual work every month. Moving away from manual spreadsheets has eliminated 90% of our human errors regarding payouts. While the implementation took a few months to fully function, the time saved on dispute resolution and the trust built with the sales team has been well worth the investment.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

The flexibility of the logic builder is the standout feature. We have complex commission structures with multiple accelerators and SPIFFs, and CaptivateIQ handles them much better than our previous spreadsheet-based system. The ability to use Excel like syntax made the transition easier for our team, as we didn't need to learn a proprietary coding language to build out the comp plans.

#### Cons

The learning curve for the initial setup is steeper than expected. While the logic is flexible, troubleshooting calculation errors can be time-consuming because it isn't always obvious where a formula breaks. That being said, the support team has always responded quickly and efficiently.

#### Reasons for choosing CaptivateIQ

We chose CaptivateIQ because of its logic builder. Unlike Xactly, which can require specialized coding knowledge or consultants to update, CaptivateIQ uses a syntax very similar to Excel.

#### Reasons for switching to CaptivateIQ

Manual calculations became unsustainable as our sales team scaled. We were running into version control issues, broken formulas, and a lack of proper audit trails.

### Not a very useful product and a serious step backwards in many ways.

- Overall rating: 1/5

Not a very useful product and a serious step backwards in many ways. I kept being asked to provide feedback and my thoughts were not to do it because I don't have much positive to say after 6 months of dealing with it.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 1/5
- Value for money: 1/5
- Customer support: 1/5
- Functionality: 1/5

#### Pros

It allows for single sign on option to access which is convenient. The details provided are correct, but to a fault it makes deciphering the information from a single account extremely difficult and manually calculating outside of the program.

#### Cons

The display of data is not very user friendly. You can't just scroll through information, it requires stepping through one page at a time and the amount of data on a page is limited and it can't be modified. Exporting to a spreadsheet is a cumbersome way to make something accessible. The pages query a database in real time even when the data only gets refreshed on a daily basis which slows down looking for anything and seems like it is stuck in 2000 for usability. Often the system simply times out when running a query so it provides zero information. I don't have a choice in paying for this service, but if I did, I would be immediately looking for an alternative or for the service to reimburse me for the pain that this system causes. When selecting some dashboards, there is no way to default to only look at the current year which requires manually filtering (every single time) to only look at the current year. The ability to modify the filters and save them is severely lacking.

Good user interface. Easy to understand the layout and works well for understanding the various splits of commissions and types.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

It continues to introduce new features, customer support is very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful

#### Cons

Data & process need to set up properly in advance to enable dashboard to display information in a certain way

#### Reasons for choosing CaptivateIQ

We are existing clients, it's easier to renew and work with familiar system since we didn't have enough time to onboard a new system. Also CaptivateIQ had enabled new features that will help with our reporting needs.

### Slow and Clunky

Less than favorable. See notes above. I expected a far superior experience to what I have experienced thus far.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 2/5
- Value for money: 3/5
- Customer support: 3/5
- Functionality: 3/5

#### Pros

Data presented and potential functionality. Ability to send to an Excel sheet. It works, sometimes..

#### Cons

Default landing pages not customizable and not preferrable. Loading time is way too slow and often times it will time out or give an error that the data can't be displayed. Unsat. Dashboard navigation is clunky and slow to load or switch between other dashboards. Drop downs for filter options themselves take way too long to load or search for the appropriate value. Search values are too particular and/or don't always give a result for a value I see right on the screen.

#### Reasons for switching to CaptivateIQ

MRS (don't know if that is the correct product name, but what we called it) was old and had too many years and layers of exceptions programed into it that it was a mess and not always working.

Their solution was good, better than I realized. I made the switch to SPIFF because the pitch was really good and they claimed the solution was even more flexible but in reality I can’t get the tool to do what CaptivateIQ could. My company buys businesses as its growth strategy and in that environment flexibility is key. CaptivateIQ was able to pull data from Excel, Salesforce and several integrations we used. The downside is the support around their solutions is not great. They have a managed services program, but I found they outsource their support resulting in sub-par results. Ultimately, it’s an easy solution to use. Powerful tool. Hire an expert to manage it and your company can scale its sales operations. I might go back someday

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 3/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

Very customizable, easy to use and flexible integrations

#### Cons

Custom Reporting was difficult, but reporting for standard objects like payroll and payouts was easy to create and use

#### Reasons for choosing CaptivateIQ

Price and flexibility. Easy to use and ability to manage plans and plan agreements rapidly

My overall experience with CaptivateIQ has been very positive. The platform makes it much easier to manage commissions by automating calculations that would otherwise take significant manual effort. The user interface is intuitive, and once you get familiar with the layout, it becomes very simple to navigate through plans, statements, and payout details. I especially appreciate the transparency CaptivateIQ provides — I can clearly see how each commission amount is calculated, track adjustments, and compare month-over-month performance without needing to request data from finance. Notifications and reminders also help keep payout timelines consistent. Overall, CaptivateIQ has improved accuracy, reduced manual work, and created a fair and visible commission process for everyone involved.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

What I liked most about CaptivateIQ is the level of transparency and clarity it brings to the commission process. Being able to see the exact breakdown of how each payout was calculated — including deals, quotas, accelerators, adjustments, and attainment progress — removes uncertainty and eliminates the need to chase finance for updates. The platform also provides real-time visibility, which helps with planning and motivation throughout the month. Notifications and monthly summaries are very helpful, and the interface makes it easy to compare payouts across periods. Overall, CaptivateIQ empowers sales teams with confidence, accuracy, and control over their commission information.

#### Cons

Although CaptivateIQ is a strong platform, there are a few areas that could be improved. The learning curve can be fairly steep in the beginning, especially when trying to understand how plans are structured and how each calculation rule impacts payouts. Sometimes the interface feels a bit complex, and it can take time to locate specific details or historical adjustments. In addition, when commission plans change mid-year, updates aren’t always reflected immediately, which can create temporary confusion. Reports and dashboards could also be more customizable. Overall, while the system works well, simplifying usability and speeding up data updates would make the experience significantly better.

#### Ratings breakdown
