Humanity (formerly ShiftPlanning) Software


 

ShiftPlanning is a web-based workforce management and employee scheduling solution. It offers a centralized platform for managers to communicate with their employees, as well as manage scheduling, documentation and payroll.

ShiftPlanning is composed of four modules: scheduling, time clock, payroll and human resources. The scheduling features of the tool allow users to automatically create conflict-free schedules, as well as copy or import schedules from third-party applications.

ShiftPlanning's time clock module allows managers to track and control employee check-ins and check-outs. The payroll module allows for payroll processing based on employee timesheets, which can be pulled out in real-time and exported for further analysis.

This solution also keeps track of human resources (HR) documentation, training and vacation days for employees.

The cloud-based software offers a robust API framework and integrates well with third-party calendar management applications and major social media platforms.

ShiftPlanning caters to clients across various segments such as Uber, Cisco, eBay, Evernote and Wasabi Group.

I would recommend this to anybody keep up the good work!

Pros

That the steps are so simple to overcome when there's a problem. Whenever i needed to fix or correct a shift or extend job info, the steps and process was very easy.

Cons

I have no dislikes about the product. There are very few issues and when they occur, it almost feels like they resolve fast.

Pros

Easy to keep track of employees shifts. Can list hundreds of different projects and hundreds of employees with many variables on how you can view this information. Keeps you really well organized.

Cons

Sometimes the settings can be confusing as there are a lot of different variations of settings. Also having multiple logins, the settings are confusing.

Shiftplanning is great for shift organization and personnel tracking. Our employees use it on a day to day basis.

Cons

Lack of interface customization. Other than that, there is isn't much else to complain about. Overall solid product.

I like the ease of use of Shiftplanning - - it's easy to set-up an employee and to add them to a schedule.

Cons

Not all of the "functions" are where I would expect them to be, but once I learned my way around the website, it's easy to use.

I like that it sends reminder emails to me 24 hours, 1 hour, and 5 minutes before a shift starts. I also like that it reminds me to clock out if I forget.

Cons

I do not like how long it takes for the program to find my location. Because it's technology, sometimes it messes up.

The interface for this software is great. It's extremely easy to use. They can confirm staff identities using facial and fingerprint recognition. They have rule based scheduling and unlimited locations. The software is extremely easy to use and very robust.

Cons

This is a great software but it does come at a cost. They are one of the more expensive platforms in the market.

The ability to navigate and adjust changes on the fly through the mobile platform. The alert set up for employees.

Cons

Anytime there is an update to the system, I find errors on my current layout. The need for a time clock punch system that doesn't require individual sign in to the system.

I love the tabs at the top of the page -- makes it easy to navigate between dashboard, schedule, time clock, etc.

Cons

Occasional glitches with the software -- time clock issues, logging in or logging out, making sure you're under the correct name.

They are all unprofessional, told them to delete my account and to cancel billing, they confirmed and replied that my account will not be billed again. But when I checked my card statement they were still charging me after that. Don't trust this company.

Overall good software - needs some improvements. See cons list below for actual feedback on the software

Cons

Don't like that it "times out" after a certain period. Don't like that you can't make your own pattern for staffing repeating shifts. Would like to be able to swap shifts and modify the shift hours that are swapping to. Would like to track history on staff picking up shifts. For example would be nice if a staff request a shift it says that in the notes or history somewhere so they can't say "I never picked that shift up"

The visual design of ShiftPlanning and its filters do a LOT to help us staff 3 floors of distinctly different functions, all of which have different staffing needs. It also gives us a huge advantage in working ahead on the schedule and tools for averting scheduling 'crises'.

Pros

Visually, we can see who is where. We are never short a staff member in our areas of essential service due to oversight. The filters make it easy to ensure we have the right people in the right roles.
Training modules have made it helpful to ensure everyone is on the same page for certain crucial information.
Most of all, our large roster of on-call staff are easily able to pick up shifts and populate our schedule gaps in real time. Availability tools make it easy for them to be more transparent, and add a level of accountability which has been helpful for management.

Cons

Some of the default settings have been difficult to figure out or work around. If I open up a shift for, say, 3 on-call staffers to fill, but then need to change the hours on one, it can end up changing all three. What started as a convenient short cut becomes a messy fix. That said, customer service and live chat go a long way in fixing sticky problems quickly.

We have 60 part time employees that fulfill a dozen different roles. Our schedule is complex. This tool has helped simplify the schedule and the time it takes to manage it.

Pros

This tool allowed us to move to the next level in supporting and scheduling student employees. We were using another tool and it was fine, this one gave more flexibility and far better reporting. It also allowed us to delegate management of schedules to team leads.

Cons

We have run into a couple of problems over the past several months with reports. Support has been very good in identifying and fixing those reports quickly.

Ability to set available time for individuals and thus the ability to see who is available for shifts and plug them in to maintain the coverage we need. Dashboard to see how is currently on. We haven't deployed it out to the staff themselves yet but when we do I anticipate the ability to notify not making a shift and requesting someone to cover for them is going to be a plus over the current email notices being used today.

Cons

We would like to be able to see the ability to make more global changes -- such as highlighting all staff to make a global change. Secondly, ability to set overall open hours for the business.

What I like the most is how shows the sum of the hours worked per week and per day and how you can change your availability. I also like the layout overall, everything is easy to find and understand without needing to ask for clarification.

Cons

I like how I'm able to click on the date that I'm working on and have it show the amount of hours everyone is working that day. I dislike how this can only be done for the day of instead of future days.

Keeping tract when I work

Pros

How I get reminders about my next shift/when the new schedule is out. I have the ability to post my avaliable times/days.

Cons

At first glance can't see who I'm working with, I would have to find it within the app. And nor in the beginning of my training I was not emailed about the schedule on humanity, in result I was late on my first day.

Pros

The global scheduling and time keeping is great. We like having everything in one system. The ability to upload files is a great asset as well as the company dashboard for quick communication.

Cons

The mobile app has some limited features that make checking schedules of others complicated. There some occasional issues with the system going down during business hours.

It is so easy to use! Adding new employees is a breeze and uploading schedules is even easier! It can be sent right to the employees email and or cell phone so they always have access to their schedule.

Cons

I love everything about humanity. If I had to think of one thing I dislike I dislike it, it would probably be something as irrelevant as I wish it would save my log in information so I don't have to type it in everytime. This is seriously the best software!

If it worked, it would be a fantastic product. The schedule copying facility is theoretically great as well as the clocking in feature... if only it wasn't riddled with bugs.

Cons

We spent 3 months trying to set our staff up with this. We had so many bugs - affecting scheduling, pay, permissions - a total nightmare and waste of so much effort.

Easy for employees to see shifts and the reminders are huge. The reminders have definitely helped us reduce missed shifts.

Pros

Hands Down the customer service. It is fairly user-friendly but can be complicated at times when doing things that repeat. Having the customer service that is very fast and reliable regardless of the time of day makes this software very valuable.

Cons

Doing reoccurring shifts can sometimes be complicated. Also, my employees didn't like the clock-in/clock-out functionality, so we ended up having to use another software application.

I love that you can start and stop the service, as we are a seasonal business. I enjoy the easy to use features like copying a schedule, pictures of employees and being able to upload a whole list of employees at once. I love the easy reporting systems for quick reference. The customer service is great, and I love the chat feature.

Cons

The price per person is outrageous and you can find comparable products on the market for less. I would not pay that, but I am locked in at a lower rate. I wish you could disable multiple employees at once. It would be great if they would develop a flat rate monthly fee for seasonal business such as firework stands, corn mazes, Christmas tree farms etc. I know lots of people looking for something like that.

Remote timeclock feature.

Pros

We have several different time clock locations and this makes using the timeclock and scheduling feature easy for us.

Cons

No batch printing option for timesheets. Our payroll provider isn't a Humanity partner so payroll is time consuming for us. Also, we have been using this software for 8 months and are still trying to figure out which features work best for us. Having an in-person onboarding/set-up would have made a world of difference.

Prior to Humanity, our schedule was managed via email and Microsoft calendars. It was nearly impossible to appropriately approve vacation requests and get overtime shifts covered. After implementing Humanity the amount of stress that was eliminated was absolutely life changing!

Pros

I love how easy it is to use. I'm able to manage my ever changing schedule/staff with minimal effort. It's very easy to fill overtime slots and approve vacation requests ensuring my employees have a great work/life balance.

Cons

There are some limitations when it comes to customizing the interface. I'd like to be able to change the default option for requesting time off. I'd also like to be able to change some of the terminology used to better reflect what I'm using it for.
