Brightwheel is great but could still be more amazing...
I love how easy it is to use and how simple it makes managing the classroom(s). Having everything connected to the same app is great and limits the amount of time I need to spend running payroll and billing.
CONSI dislike that parents are not able to add their own approved pick ups. At this point all approved pickups need to be added by an administrator and have to have their own separate account. For a lot of families that are just adding people as an emergency or for very infrequent it doesn’t make sense. I also would appreciate not having to deal with it on my end and instead allowing the parents to add someone connected to their account but still with a separate check in code. I also would love a way to upload or create student files for all required licensing documents to move away from using so much paper and having those important files also stored with everything else in the system making it even easier to keep track of everyone and set families up when they start

brightwheel Software Review
One important and impactful feature of brightwheel is the parent portal, which allows parents to access real-time information about their child's daycare or school experience, including daily reports, photos and videos of their child's activities, and communication with teachers and staff. This feature helps to keep parents informed and involved in their child's education, and also allows for easy communication between parents and caregivers. Additionally, it helps to keep all the information in one place and easily accessible, which can help to improve overall organizational performance.
CONSSome cons of Brightwheel may include: its cost, its dependency on internet connection and device compatibility, limited functionalities for certain types of institutions or programs, and some users may find the interface not intuitive.

Good but would like to see 2 other features for ease
It really is a wonderful tool to have for communication with parents. It makes sending pictures really easy. I love knowing that our parents can easily receive pictures of their child throughout the day. As a parent myself, I love receiving pictures of my son!
PROSI love the ability to post multiple pictures at the same time. All the options are easy to find and labeled really well (ie. nap, food, potty, etc.).
CONSFirst, I really don't like how difficult it is to edit a note, photo, or custom message if we spot an error after sending it. We have used another platform before that you could easily click on which students had the note that was sent out and you could edit it one time instead of having to go through each child. For example, to edit a "note" that was sent we would have to edit it 19 times to fix it. That's a lot! If you could update this I would really, REALLY love Brightwheel. Secondly, can we please have a "Sent" message page separate from just the one page that groups the sent and received all in one. I am missing incoming messages because they're getting lost in a bunch of other messages. And one more thing about messages. This would help out SO much! Can there be an option to mark a message as "Unread"? Sometimes my morning assistant will check a message but forget to tell me and unfortunately I won't see the notification that a message came in. But if it could be known that if anyone reads a message before the lead teacher they can easily indicate it as Unread and then no one will miss it.

Highly Recommend
I have had a very positive experience with Brightwheel and I can say the same for my families.
PROSI love the ease of check in and check outs for students. The billing feature is a huge time saver. The ability to electronically enroll families is a huge time saver as well.
CONSThere aren't any con's as of now. However, I wish there was a way to turn on an "Out of Office" notice on the messaging app when parents send messages while school is closed.
Reasons for switching to brightwheel
The platform of Procare was not user friendly in my opinion. The platform did not have the ease of use as Brightwheel offers.

Love all the new features
I love that I have so much less paperwork and the parents can digitally check the kiddos in and they make payments through the app as well, no more sending out reminders about payments, it does it all for me!
PROSThe most impactful feature is the parent check in/out, it is extremely helpful during busy morning drop offs and in the afternoons for pickups. I just discovered the new menu feature… game changer. So much better than creating a spreadsheet from scratch!
CONSThe billing feature has some hiccups, but only with the limitations, but then again maybe I’m just not as knowledgeable as I should be on using those features. I really can’t say much about cons! I love the app!!

The best app for Parents!
My experience has been great! Everything I need is all in one place. My daycare providers upload photos of my kid and all their daily information so I know exactly what they ate and what they have done while they were at daycare all day.
PROSI love how easy Brightwheel makes tracking my baby while they are at daycare. I see every diaper change, nap time, and bottle. It also allows me to communicate with his daycare provider through messenger and allows me to pay online each week. The app has made our entire daycare experience better!
CONSI don't have any cons about this program. As long as the providers use it like they should and upload the information, then the app is great as a parent!

Essential Tool!
Brightwheel has been a time saver and we love all the perks it has.
PROSIt is so important to maintain daily communication with the parents. Parents love when we update with pictures and videos. It has become an essential tool in our school.
CONSSome of the parents have a hard time signing their child in or out. The app looks different on different phones and some of the parents state that they can't see their code making it difficult for attendance.

My take on Brightwheel
Brightwheel has helped tremendously for our communications with families. Billing has become so much easier too. We could not survive without Brightwheel. During the pandemic, they did a wonderful job with trainings and webinars as everyone in childcare was under immense amounts of stress.
PROSThe most used and helpful parts of this software are attendance, billing, communication and time cards for staff.
CONSThe lesson plans - hard to figure out. The forms and documents are hard to figure out too - not enough webinars on these areas. Calendar needs improvement too - you should be able to connect your own Google calendar to the Brightwheel classrooms.

Good for Parents
Very good - I recommend all daycares to use this tool with their parents
PROSWe've been using Brightwheel for our 5 years now at several daycares. It helps us keep track of our son, including check-in/out and daily activities. It lists activity in chronological order with newest first and it helps us make sure the daycare is taking care of the children. I like that it can include photos and videos uploaded by the teachers.
CONSSometimes I wish I could send photos and videos to the teachers as well! I'd also like to be able to message some teachers directly instead of having it shared with the administration.

LOVE Brightwheel!
LOVE this app! Our teachers use this all day and I use it throughout the day as well. Families love being able to talk to the classroom teachers and stay up-to-date with what their child is doing each day.
PROSBeing able to message parents, send pictures, send updates and stay in contact with the families is the best part of the app. We love it as a school and the parents love it even more!
CONSThere can be some confusion when checking students in and out and using name-to-face but once you know the difference it becomes easy to use.
Reason for choosing brightwheel
Ease of use, cost, and all of the additional features. Love that it is a live app that parents can see everything.
Reasons for switching to brightwheel

Brightwheel has saved us so much time!
We were early adopters and have been using Brightwheel since 2015. Initially we just used the billing feature but as the new features rolled out we've integrated all of them. Using Brightwheel cuts admin time down to a minimum and allows teachers to share the day with parents so they can see their kids learning and growing. Billing is seamless. Brightwheel support has been amazing, especially through Covid19. Their webinars are helpful and to the point.
PROSI love Brightwheel! We've been using BW since 2015 and have saved so much time having billing, attendance and time cards at our fingertips.
CONSTracking children's immunizations is not as fluid as it could be. Too much data entry. It would be better if parents could do the data entry and admin could check against paper records for accuracy.

We love Brightwheel
We have had great luck with BW.
PROSWe love the ease of communication with parents.
CONSInputting new students' information can be redundant as you must add the same people twice for emergency contacts and approved pick-up. Also, parents complain about not being able to post pictures in their child's BW feed to show staff.
Reason for choosing brightwheel
The customer service end and the continued changes that BW was making. Alos loved that it was started through Shark Tank.

Perspective from a Teacher who is also a Parent using Brightwheel
Overall, I like the app. It is helpful during the day and once you get the hang of it, really easy to navigate and update, although it can be a bit time consuming. When I have emailed customer service they have emailed me back in a polite and timely manner, which is always a plus. This is my third school year using the app, and have yet to hear a negative comment from any of my student's families. All have had rave reviews, shared it with family members, and are constantly thanking me for sharing things with them throughout the day.
PROSAs a teacher, I like the convenience of being able to get in contact with the parents of my students quickly and effectively. I am able to keep track of attendance and absences easily, it also helps with parents who need to monitor their child's eating. As a parent, I like receiving updates about my child, especially pictures. When it is kept up by my child's teacher, it is a great app because I can see what is going on during his day even though I am not with him.
CONSOne of my biggest frustrations is that I have to COMPLETELY log out and log back in when switching from my teacher account and my parent account, at the same school. My son goes to the school that I work at but is in a different class. It would be so much easier if there was a way to toggle back and forth between the two. My other major concern is, though we have the app on our school chromebooks and it's great, I cannot upload pictures from the computer to the app to share them with parents. So, instead of keeping the app on my cellphone logged in to my child's account, I have to log out and then in to my teacher account to be able to share pictures of my students with their families. It is really frustrating. The parents of the children in my class are constantly giving me positive feedback about the app and love getting the pictures and videos, but it is difficult for me since I want to share the pictures with them but I can't do it all from the chromebook unless I try using the poor-quality webcam. It would be much more of a positive experience for me if I was able to use a classroom camera, upload the pictures to a computer, then be able to upload the pictures to the app for the families. I am sure that for someone who has a designated work cellphone or maybe even a tablet with a decent camera, this would not even be an issue, but for someone who has to use a personal cellphone to take and upload pictures to the app, is a bit of a downfall.

Great Product! Easy to use for staff and parents.
Our general experience has been incredible. The product does the majority of what we really want and we can accomplish a work around for things that may one day be executed through client criticism. In particular we have NEVER had a keep out of programming or briefly inaccessible under any circumstance. We have approached our product always. That was not the situation for the product we were utilizing beforehand.
PROSThe onboarding was simple and the expert was amicable and proficient. Client support was not difficult to contact with questions and reactions were proficient and clear for fast use. Broad web-based help is accessible readily available if necessary. Continuous participation and ongoing correspondence with guardians through the application are outstanding. Pictures are posted with inscriptions alongside one touch classes for fast future reference. Timecards are effortlessly produced for finance purposes while additionally furnishing constant proportion numbers with a dash of a button. Private or gathering informing is simple and assists with educator/chief/parent logging so everybody in question approaches what is being imparted.
CONSBrightwheel battles with after care charging/invoicing that our middle could profit from. The participation base charging for that needs choices with one touch switches to oblige various situations. The Room Device Mode additionally needs a switch for kids allocated to that study hall as a "homeroom" in their profile, rather than having the option to see all youngsters in the middle that are doled out to a room as an auxiliary room. Following room moves are basic to line up with state commands yet having a spotless clear line of sight of participation is likewise significant.
