The platform is fairly easy to navigate and, when I do have a problem, the feedback I receive is easy to apply. Gradelink continues to improve the system and does a great job communicating changes and enhancements. Anytime I reach out with a question, I receive a response in a very timely manner. In addition, the features in the Gradelink system cover all of our grade reporting needs. Cons: We have encountered many issues this year with parent notification. We use the system to send texts when there is a delay or cancellation due to weather and constantly have problems with people (staff and parents alike) not receiving the alert. Friendly customer service. 5 The support we have received has been very helpful in figuring out what we can and cannot expect from Gradelink. In the main, our team has been very happy with the professionalism Gradelink has given our school over the last 3 years. We plan to continue using it. Ratings Breakdown 4 Ease of use Previously 5 5 Value for money 5 Customer support 4 Functionality Pros: The transcript feature, communication features, and standards tracking have been exceptionally useful for our school. The main reason we looked for a SIS was for transcript records management, and Gradelink has been perfect for us. The Report Card has been more difficult to customize for our small school, but teachers have been able to find work-arounds. Cons: Ease of Use is 4 stars because some teachers have had a difficult time getting the hang of it, and some help tutorials or explanations can be difficult to find until you know what you're looking for. One feature that we have asked for several times is an app for teachers. The software is unusable on a mobile device, and there are times when a student calls with a question and the teacher is not by a computer browser to help answer that question. Reasons for choosing Gradelink Gradelink had the most usable features that would integrate with our school operation. Financial accountability was another reason we chose Gradelink; it has great pricing considerations for small schools. We were also able to take advantage of a bonus discount for the setup fee. Once learning the location of the tasks I frequent (which took all of a few hours or so of use), it is by far the best online gradebook our system has used. Ratings Breakdown 5 Ease of use 5 Customer support 5 Functionality Pros: Compared to our previous system, Gradelink is far superior. Entering grades and assignments is easy, and straight forward. In the past I have sent feedback with an issue I was having with the login procedure, and I can tell improvements have been made in that area (indicating the developers are listening). Tracking student information with not just normal information, but also with disciplinary issues makes it easier to see if a student is acting up in multiple classes or just one. Cons: There are times when Gradelink has issues with the login procedure. This was mentioned in the Pros area. The issue where having been away from Gradelink after an extended period of time (e.g. overnight, or over the weekend), it will attempt to continue to work with the current session when in reality it has been logged out. It appears the session is still active, and then ultimately updates itself indicating the session has expired (losing whatever work you have already inputted). This has greatly improved over the course of the prior and current semester. Reasons for switching to Gradelink It was too clunky for out needs, and created way too many headaches trying to do the normal tasks with needed done. When I run out of time in one quarter, it would be nice to automatically bump assignments to the next quarter without having to cut & paste them. As an administrator, I would like more flexibility in creating reports Reasons for choosing Gradelink No high-pressure sales tactics; I could access training videos and see the parent portal; on-line enrollment and communications tools eliminated the need for costly alternatives; the price was right Reasons for switching to Gradelink We used Chalkable for several years. Gradelink is user friendly, logical, and easy to use. Parents can see student achievement whenever they want, and report cards are easy to create. As an admin, adding new staff and/or students is quick and easy. Most questions can be answered via their help desk, but if you phone and leave a message, you get a response usually same day, next business day at the latest. Cons: Gradelink is great for communicating with staff, students, and parents, but it isn't always easy/practical to add people outside of those categories who still need the communication. For example, we send our school newsletter via Gradelink. But if we have school board members who don't have children in our school but still want to receive school information, it requires extra steps to get it to them, or we have to create fake accounts. Reasons for switching to Gradelink New principal was familiar with Gradelink, and Gradelink was easier to use for both staff and parents. There are other programs with more features, but the intuitive nature of the program and strength in the key functionality for classes, reporting, scheduling is excellent. The amount of things that can be centralized is great! The ability to easily notify families in multiple ways, as we needed to do for weather closures recently, was extremely helpful. Cons: Can have a little bit of a learning curve for new users if they are not committed to watching the training videos and reading the training articles. At first I was hesitant when my admin said we where moving to a new platform. However I learned it quickly and think it is better than the old platform. I can put in my lesson plans, take attendee, and log student behavior. The extend and repeat feature on lesson plans have been super helpful when creating and inputting lesson plans. Each school having its own personalized code lets makes me feel like my data is protected. Customer support is always super quick when responding to any issues that arise but is it rare I've had a problem. Cons: I least like that you cannot double click to copy and paste. It is easier than having to use the keyboard short cut. Reasons for switching to Gradelink My team felt grade link would be a better fit for us.
