Infinite Campus Software

Infinite Campus is a customizable web-based school management platform built to serve districts ranging in size from 30 to 330,000 students. This software integrates SIS features, operational management tools and learning management functionality to support communications and maintain data.

Its core functionality tracks assessments, attendance, behavior, grades, assignments, schedules, health and more, while an online portal gives students and parents real-time access to information—even from iOS and Android devices. Because there is one database, duplicate data entry is eliminated.

Infinite Campus maintains high security standards that meet federal security requirements and maintains its own network of Tier 4 data centers, including two fully redundant centers at separate sites, so districts can operate without service interruption or data loss.

Monthly upgrades with the latest features and enhancements are available at no additional cost. Additional premium products—such as messenger with voice, food service and finance, human resources and payroll applications—are also available.

We used another system but it never worked with our Student Information System. The numbers of our free/reduced students never matched and we spent hours looking for the problem.

Pros

Interacts with all parts of our Student Information System. User friendly and easy to navigate. Excellent support from the company. Each student has a unique number that is used whenever they come through the line. No one can tell what pay source a student is so it reduces the stigma of being a "free" student.

Cons

Cashiers hit the wrong keys sometimes but this can happen with any system. Students complain because they forget their PIN and it slows down the line.

The product has an appealing design that isn't visually overwhelming. It is fairly easy to navigate by using the tabs.

Likes Least

It can be difficult to send a message or notification within Infinite campus.

Recommendations

Consider the function or role you need the system to play. More options doesn't always make it better, as a good foundation program Infinite Campus serves great for record management.

I like the fact that it integrates student information into the IEP. However, this seems to be the only redeeming quality.

Likes Least

There are many things with the IC Special Ed software that I dislike.
1. 60 and 90 day dates are not automatically provided. In fact this is a manual process. The previous software we uses ( SEAS ) automatically calculated these deadlines for us.
2. Each goal has to be clicked on in order to see them. SEAS provided a full view of all goals.
3. There is no means to batch print progress reports.
4. The font size is incredibly small for all areas to input.
5. SEAS allowed for integration if evaluation packet and IEP packet. IC does not allow for this.
6. Copy and paste from a google document results in type characters inappropriately appearing in IC sections.
7. The SE software appears to be an ignored application. It is a free add on and shows it.
8. Compared to SEAS this software is extremely cumbersome. It appears to be very much a PC based type application.
9. SEAS allowed for direct contact with their company. This is not the case for IC. Problems take weeks to resolve. The support for IC is poor.
10. This software is free with the District Software and it shows.

Recommendations

I would recommend that if you think the Special Education software is up to parr with their District IC software you would be wise to pilot the SE software before switching over.

The special education piece with the IEPs links to the general education information.

Likes Least

The IEP documents are very difficult to read and are not really parent friendly. The IEP documents are not easy to complete-they are very tedious requiring multiple steps on different pages to enter in 1 section.

Recommendations

Find a software that is easy to read when printed and not so time consuming when entering information.

Solid product with a large selection of modules to meet the needs of most districts. Support is responsive and knowledgeable. User group meetings well planned are especially helpful for adopters.

Likes Least

Custom development can be difficult depending on what you ask for. More can be gained by collaborating with other districts with similar needs.

Recommendations

Your decision team needs to understand all of the functionality included in your present student information system and all state/federal reporting requirements. Make sure all of the district's SIS needs are included or will be addressed during implementation.

Pros

I like the special education features and being able to access multiple points of information. Taking attendance is quick and easy.

Cons

Sometimes it can be confusing when working on certain features and it seems to change often. It seems like there are multiple steps you have to take to get into certain features of IC.

Infinite campus makes my life so much easier, both as a parent and a teacher.

Pros

I love that I am notified as a parent as soon as my children have a grade or an attendance update.

As a teacher I love that everything I need is always at my fingertips.

My person ID integrates me as both parent and teacher so it's all there.

I can use the app on my phone to check on students or my children, as well as using the desktop log-in.

Cons

It can be glitchy with Chrome, and we're a chromebook school. Additionally, it is tedious to look up information on the entire class--addresses and contact information.

Pros

I like that it keeps you completely aware of how you're doing in your classes. Also, it let's you see your schedule (planner), assignments, and attendance.

Cons

I don't like that tests, quizzes, homework, and class work have different weight values, which impacts your overall grade.

Pros

I liked how easy it was to use and transfer grade-book settings from year to year as well as the customized grade reporting. While almost every program used for grading or attendance has these features, this system was the most straightforward and intuitive I've used.

Cons

It's gotten better in terms of student/parent interface over the past few years, although I sometimes get frustrated as setting up online assignments from class to class can be tedious. Also, it seems to work better with some web browsers(IE) than others(Chrome).

Our school district started using Infinite Campus for registration, grades and paying fees/dues. It has made the whole process very easy and less time consuming. All my child's fees were paid with a click of a button prior to the registration day. Also you are able to add lunch money to his account very quickly instead of sending a check.

Pros

Quick, very easy to use, makes the registration process much easier.
