I've used several (far more expensive) TMSs in the past decade, and AcendTMS is the best by far. I did demos of a lot of different software and this one checked all the boxes. Support is very quick to reply and they are very open to changes or feature ideas. #### Cons Because the software has to cater to a large range and size of trucklines and brokers, sometimes that creates extra steps. Two examples, when uploaded a BOL within a load, you have to select the customer or it won't send with the Invoice. Other would be the customer email addresses show up when sending a carrier confirmation. They are unchecked and marked with a RED ! to say don't click this. But I would prefer they weren't there at all. #### Reasons for choosing AscendTMS Price, cloud based, intuitive feel, and friendliness of staff. #### Reasons for switching to AscendTMS Dispatch Mate by infosite was not option so I select one of there other products above. We had the local version that we paid for. They raised the support cost to be higher than the monthly charge for cloud TMS programs. At the end of the day Ascend has incredible features, and at value that allows you to scale from day 1 with 5-10 loads per day through year 10 doing nearly 10000 loads annually. They are updating features quarterly that add more value to the suite without making implementation a massive capital undertaking on day 1. Highly customizable environment that allows the user to build format that works for them. The ascend team does a great job assisting in any data uploading that is necessary to avoid costly data entry man hours. They have partnered with some great companies to add even more features that make my company able to post loads to more load boards and process loads more quickly, and . We are able to work more efficiently and cost-effectively. #### Cons While it is easy to learn, there were parts of the software that I did not know much about - mainly the accounting. I learned how to do much of it on the fly. Watching the videos helped and the support from Ascend TMS has been great. I would like to see a "user's group" set up so people who use the software can share tips, how to's, etc. #### Reasons for switching to AscendTMS Tailwind was too difficult to start out with. I did not have much knowledge about using any TMS when I started out but Tailwind was just too confusing. Drivers can upload docs straight into system so billing isn't spending hours scanning documents. There are so many things that I like about this system that I would need a much larger space to write it all out. #### Cons I am a planner. I need to have a daily/weekly calendar feature that your loads are automatically added to as they are put into the pending stage. Ascend is a one stop shop for all your TMS needs. From tracking loads to billing out loads everything works great in an easy to use manner. #### Cons The one thing working in this industry is getting carriers to adopt new technology. I find that sending tendered loads via email for some of my more seasoned carriers is a pain. The text with a link feature is great and easy for my guys to use. Also, perhaps adding a feature where the BOL can be signed via phone. Ascend is quick for onboarding new carriers; I just input their USDOT/MC# and Ascend autofills the majority of the carriers info. Since the software integrates with other offerings, I ended up signing up with Triumph Business Capital for factoring (because they were integrated) and Triumph has been great. #### Ratings breakdown - Ease of use: 3/5 - Value for money: 3/5 - Customer support: 4/5 - Functionality: 4/5 #### Pros Ascend tries to be many things, with a host of integrations from DAT load board to Triumph Business Capital for factoring. There is a lot going on and for the most part, the software does its job. The address auto-populate feature is very helpful when entering new addresses. That is sort of where the positives stop for me. #### Cons There are simply too many steps to go through to enter and dispatch a single load. Instead of having everything on one screen to be entered quickly, you have to fill out one screen, click to go to the next screen, click to go to the next screen, all for one load. It simply took me too much time. I ended up switching over to Trucking Office (I am a smaller operation) and the difference in time spent dispatching was very noticeable. All in all, it was not bad software, just did not work out for me. There are also minor glitches with the formatting of the website interface that bugged me, like text running outside of a box, just little aesthetic touches that were distracting. #### Vendor response HI Daniel, it looks like you just had a BASIC subscription to AscendTMS and so you didn't get "all the goodies" you needed. If you want all the bells and whistles in AscendTMS you need to upgrade to the PREMIUM subscription for just $49. Once you get a PREMIUM subscription - you will see that ALL of your needs will be met, from driver payroll and full accounting to IFTA reports and load tracking etc. Thanks for the review.
