Great features, low cost, but VERY challenging communication

We are grateful to have a solution that's affordable for our customers. If our shipping costs us less, we can charge less. It's that simple. But there is a significant cultural problem around communication and ensuring great outcomes for us and our customers. It often takes days - not hours - to get the attention of someone who will respond to systemic problems that impact many of our customers all at once. And that's with having a dedicated Growth Manager. In some ways, that job title tells you a lot. As a company we need a Relationship Manager on our side to help us problem solve, not a Growth Manager. To their credit, focusing on Growth over Relationship lead to their acquisition by Shopify. But our company is dedicated to our customers first and foremost. I hope this is something that the Shopify culture can infuse to Deliverr over the next few years, as we admire Shopify's commitment to team and customers even when facing the pressures of being a public company.

PROS

They have an ambitious plan to provide affordable and efficient DTC fulfillment that can compete with Amazon. Overall we are satisfied with the speed and cost, despite concerns about their commitment to quality experiences for our customers.

CONS

They've deployed a lot of tools too quickly that aren't always at a level that provide quality experiences to customers. When their tools break or there are gaps in their systems, it's INCREDIBLY hard to get someone to properly address the systemic problems. This is more of a topdown cultural problem rather than something specific about the individuals on the outward-facing help team.

Reason for choosing Deliverr

Price and speed, and frankly we weren't sure that the communication at large competitors would be that much better. We DID initially work with Quartermaster Logistics - a smaller fulfillment partner - and would suggest to businesses starting out that they get their feet wet with a smaller company with personal attention like QML.

Deliverr offers Cross Venue Shipping Possibilites

This service fills a niche. It allows you to use one company and sell on multiple venues. It does that well. They do have long term storage fees which may have you give back what you made is you send them slow moving products. If you are selling with a high turnover rate items which are of a decent size, this company might work well for you. If you have a poor turnover rate, it may not be a good fit.

PROS

It was easy enough to set up and offers a variety of different ways to set the software up. They offer integrations with a large assortment venues (Walmart, Amazon, eBay, Shopify etc) and they offer integrations with different third party management systems. You can integrate directly with your venue or through your management system. They have deals with the different venues whereby you can get better pricing and faster shipping to the customer which will in theory get you more sales. The system should also post your tracking to your 3rd party or to the venue. You pack and ship the items directly to them much like FBA with them offering a choice to ship direct to warehouse or to one warehouse which then distributes your skus across the country.

CONS

Its possible that one of their good features causes one of their downfalls. They do not consistently report your tracking back to the venue. It may be becasue of my particular integration set up, but I am not buying it, sometimes they report and sometimes they don't (it seems to be centered around a particular DHL service and Walmart. Another thing to know is that if you build to order or do bundles they are not going to pick up those bundles as things you can set up and ship to them unless you create another built SKU. There are two different aspects to this service. #1 The "Software" and #2 the actual performance of their ability to ship things to your customers. I am not happy with them on either count. I do feel that Amazon does a much better job (Note when last I used them which was YEARS ago). Right now (just before Thanksgiving) their on time shipment for me is only 92.7% and their on time delivery is 86.7%. I have never sent them a lot of inventory and I sell small items. This could be a large part of the problem. They have also lost quite a bit of inventory, which honestly I have not filed for reimbursement for becasue it requires record keeping on your part and I dont have the time vs what I would get back for it. They have lost inbounds as well as inventory lost at warehouses and lost shipments to customers.

Reasons for switching to Deliverr

I had left FBA years before for the usual Amazon reasons. A Deliverr rep kept calling me and I eventually tried it.
