Great free purchasing software.

PROS

For a free version of purchasing software, SpendMap has all the features we need to track and control our purchasing. We can easily run reports with a good variety of filters to look at past records on purchasing, vendors, cost centers, etc. Using SpendMap has enabled us establish company wide budgets and easily monitor how each area's budgets are progressing. This is tremendously helpful software for our moderate size operation.

CONS

The only drawback in the free version is the inability to link directly to Quickbooks Online Version. I understand that ability is available in the paid version.

Superb piece of Purchase Ordering software that gives full functionality even in Free Version

The software allowed us to get control of all the functions within our Purchase Department, saving both time and money.

PROS

Was sceptical that this Free Software would do what it said it would, but I have had to eat my words because quite honestly there are no limits imposed and to be honest, utilising this software has not only saved us time and money but has allowed us to improve the systems and controls we currently use. We have used paid for software within our Purchase Department in the past but every system we implemented was met with complaints so I did not have high hopes for this "Free" one. I was wrong however and the system is extremely popular with all the staff, so much so that we are about to go for the full "Paid for Package". The free version has all the functions and controls you would expect in a professional package and it is safe to say that if you need a Purchase Order system that this package will legitimately give you everything you need. Normally free software comes with quite poor support but with software the support has been excellent both online and via email. When I have needed assistance with a feature response has generally been within a couple of hours via email (allowing for time differences).

CONS

There is a bit of set up required before implementing fully and it may be necessary for some support if you are not very IT literate. The Setup Wizard however will get you through most of the initial installation with ease.

We used SpendMap for several years now, and it helps us a lot with our logistics.

It helps us on daily bases with our logistics. Due to SpendMap we got control of our purchases (full control over all placed orders and, even more important, what we have/have not received). It is also nice that it is easy to make reports, e.g. of what we have not received. That save us a lot of time following up our suppliers .

PROS

It works fine and has a lot of features and functions, so you can set it up as you want it - and that even includes the free version we use. Fantastic! The program has been quite stable and reliable - and the few times we needed help, we got excellent support. That is great, especially as we only used the free version so fare.

CONS

With so many features and functions, it takes a bit of time to understand and figures out how it works.

Great Purchase Order software from people who really care about their customers.

A significant reduction in manual effort to manage our Purchasing, better control over our spending, and better visibility into what's going on.

PROS

I've had the pleasure of using this software over the years in organizations ranging from 10 people to tens of thousands of employees. It's a powerful and reliable procurement tool and comes with great support. That they are bringing this experience to the SMB space with a totally free version is just the latest sign of SpendMap's industry leadership and innovative thinking. Anyone looking to automate their Purchase Orders and related processes would be well served by giving it a try.

CONS

As with most software like this, there's some up-front set up before you can start processing your Purchase Orders. Similar to an ERP/Accounting system, where you have to set up users, suppliers, items/products, etc. Nice to see that they added a Setup Wizard recently.

SpendMap long term user review

Our experience with FPP has been very positive. We started as a small company and have grown rapidly and FPP has been able to keep up with the growth. We only use a small portion of the full functionality, but what we do use is implemented very well and easy for the purchasing team to use.

PROS

1. Support... For free software, the overnight email support is outstanding. 2. Stability... It has never crashed on us in over 5 years of use. 3. Price... You cannot argue with the price. 4. Ease of use... Once setup it is very easy for end users to use. 5. Its all there... Nothing is hidden behind a paywall. The free version of the software is complete.

CONS

1. Setup... With so many options and configurations, initial setup is very complex and time consuming. 2. Updates... Our firewall blocks the update process, your millage may vary.

Can't beat it for the money!

I wanted a way to track purchases for my information and have the ability to review purchases as needed but, didn't want to have to build my own database nor perform all the programming to handle partial shipments, track cost centers, etc. I began using this Free Purchase Order software and found everything I needed already present and with support that doesn't take days to reach. I am glad I found this as it has saved me a ton of time and effort.

PROS

It's free! Also, it is exceptionally comprehensive given that it is, indeed, free. It has some features I have not even used yet and the support, also free, is stellar.

CONS

The same thing I dislike about most new software, entering all of the initial data so it would work as I would like. Not a real problem with the software. Also, there are a few things that are not immediately apparent and I had to ask support (but, I got a fast, friendly response) to use.
