ShipStation makes a tedious task quicker and even fun

ShipStation was the first shipping platform I used, and I can't wait until my orders are regular enough so I can return. It was super easy to set up and integrate with my sales platforms.

Pros

The user interface and the nifty shipment tracker page you can customize so it looks on brand.

Cons

The monthly fee. I eventually left for another shipping platform because I wasn't at the threshold where the ROI was worth it.

Terrible Customer Support

Pros

they support regular usps mail which is useful. splitting orders is possible (but a complete pain to do via their convuluted interface).

Cons

terrible customer support. they do not take ownership of any problem (even when you demonstrate the issue to them via screenshare/screen recording/screenshot), and staggeringly maintain "I can't see any issue here". When they do finally acknowledge an issue (for example incorrectly displaying weights of packages which causes shipping costs to be wrong, and then packages to be rejected by carriers - this actually happened to us) - it disappears into an escalated support team that do not communicate, provide any sort of timeline, and are great at one thing - ignoring you.

Easiest way to ship online

It's easier to fill out than any other online shipping and has the combined packaging options of all of them. I've never made a mistake using ShipStation and the price is the best on the market.

Pros

The copy and paste address feature lets you copy and paste the shipping address and the website fills in the blanks properly. No more mistaken addresses because of typos!

Cons

I love everything about it. Haven't found a con yet!

Great for Shipping Any Product!

Pros

This is a fantastic application for shipping any product. It supports both FedEx and UPS so you're in good standing if you want to transition from one distributor to another.

Cons

Support could be improved a little bit. There's not too much support on customization your packing slips.

V2 Is A Near-Perfect SaaS. V3 Is Half-Baked

As I already mentioned, I love ShipStation. It's really one of my favorite pieces of SaaS. Their customer support is also great. They answer their live chats and emails quickly and always have a solution. Rare, especially for the price of admission.

Pros

The interface in ShipStation V2 is fantastic. As the department manager, I can easily assign orders to my CSR's and use tags to designate anything I want. We use different tags/colors for suppliers, whether we are shipping ourselves or dropshipping, or marking things as HOT! Using the tags to filter, makes it easy to find and sort orders and see what needs to be worked on.

We also use the custom fields for notating PO #'s, which supplier we dropshipped from, and sometimes other important notes.

The interface is so easy on the eyes and the filtering are so good that we use ShipStation instead of ChannelAdvisor to handle our orders.

Another great feature is ShipStation Connect, which allows us to print to anyone's printer, even if they are not on the same network. Fantastic feature, especially, if not everyone has a Zebra printer at their station.

Cons

I wish we could interface with our website. Right now, we're using it with the marketplaces, but our website is on its own, which is unfortunate, because we lose all of that monitoring functionality.

The other con is V3. We tried it. It's very much not ready for prime time. It was buggy. The interface was not as good and the user experience was lacking. What we could do in V2 with a few keystrokes and the Tab key, took several more clicks. We're hoping they fix that up, before forcing the "upgrade."

Shipstation is great. Glad we use it.

Pros

Brings all of our shipments in from multiple sites and sources and seamlessly allows us to manage and create them. Pretty ideal.

Cons

Postage management uses third parties and is somewhat irritating to deal with.

Terrible customer support for buggy software

One problem is that it fails to notify the original store that the order has been shipped unless I manually ask it to make the order as complete. (Otherwise, it sits in my list of orders "awaiting shipment". Sometimes they disappear from the list, then reappear a day or two later. When I manually mark the order as "Complete", it then double counts the shipment. I have a plan that allows 50 shipments per month. So when I reached 25 shipments, it double counted them as 50 shipments and would not allow any further shipments without upgrading to the 500 shipment per month plan (which I don't need and can't afford). There is basically no telephone support from Shipstation and email support is absurdly slow and unhelpful, with each response taking a few days. This is a time-sensitive business so this is really a problem. I asked them for phone support - finally heard back with an offer for phone support 3 days from now during a time when I am not available. So basically I can count on waiting a few more days for the next useless support email.

Pros

I liked the fact that this software synced with online sales through places like Amazon and initially seemed to work pretty well.

Cons

A few months ago, Shipstation released a new version and I have had many problems with it. It simply does not work as advertised. Things that were seamless before no longer work. The fact that they have not fixed these issues after a few months is very frustrating. I would not recommend them any longer for shipping.

10/10 for organization obsessed people

We love shipstation. It perfectly fits our company needs by keeping all tasks organized and separated.

Pros

It offers so many break down categories. My favorite feature is the ability to pull up my specific tasks to complete them. This gets rid of everyone’s extra clutter.

Cons

Version 3. I refuse to reinstall it. It was filled with bugs and flaws.

ShipStation 101

It started out as a headache, but it quickly has resolved more problems than it's caused! I'm a big fan!

Pros

ShipStation makes my life so much easier. Sometimes I need to upload 400+ individually shipped addresses and ShipStation makes it so easy for me! Instead of having to manually enter all of the information, it's done for me!

Cons

There is a bit of a learning curve, but once you get used to it, it gets significantly easier!

Easy One-Stop Integration

Great software that I would recommend to any company or individual who has multiple shipping plans.

Pros

I am one of several user of this product in my company. It provides easy integration with our Amazon store, and even has an app for my phone so I can see when orders come in and plan for shipping.

Cons

It's not always intuitive on the desktop application. I'm a relatively new user and still have to learn all of the ins and outs.

Pros

Connects with all of the platforms out there. Orders come in automatically and can be quickly processed with keyboard shortcuts and integration with an inexpensive USB scale. Automation rules are powerful way to do pretty much anything in the tool.

Used lots of fulfillment apps, this one is the best so far

Pros

I've used a lot of other shipping tools out there and ShipStation definitely meets our small business needs best. Integrates with lots of eComm apps out there or can be integrated easily with a custom store. Have only had minor issues thus far. Great uptime as well.

Cons

Minor issues have included shipping accounts changing back to default when selecting different services and issues with mapping custom fields from Shopify

BEST EVER! Best money spent.

Pros

Automated Rules are amazing. My weights, sizes an shipping options automatically pull in. Being able to easily print shipping labels for Amazon, Ebay, ETSy and my website couldn't be any easier.

Cons

This tool is great. I wish they could help negotiate better rates, but they do help provide some level of discounts with carriers.

Why use anything else?

Absolutely amazing. It is so easy to use that I was able to easily integrate it across three warehouses plus our corporate headquarters. I had 20 different ecommerce sites across several platforms including Woocommerce, Magento 1, Shopify, Prestashop, Open Cart, Ebay and Amazon Merchant fulfilled. Setting up rules to automate our business was so simple. I can automatically have orders go to the correct warehouses based on rules by skus. We were easily able to customize marketing material for each store on invoices and shipping labels. Love you shipstation.

Pros

Besides everything? The thing I loved the MOST would be how fantastically easily it was to get up and running and integrated with every platform. I looked like a real genius. But it wasn't me, it was the simplicity of the system. Its that easy.

Cons

They had an inventory management portion of the software that I didn't quite understand how to utilize it.
