ShipStation is a multi-carrier, multi-channel shipping solution designed to facilitate the shipping and fulfillment process for online retailers. The solution is cloud-based and key features include label creation, order management, customer information management and discounted shipping rates.

ShipStation automatically retrieves and consolidates order information from over 40 sales channels, applies a preconfigured set of shipping preferences to each order based on specifications, processes and prints customized shipping labels and packing slips and automatically updates each store with shipping status and tracking information.

Management of all customer communication is automated and provides consolidated reporting for immediate viewing. Other functions include prefilled international customs forms, the ability to combine and split orders, user auditing and permissions management. ShipStation also offers integration with Fulfillment by Amazon.

Pros

Ship station shipping software can easily integrate with popular eCommerce channels. Integration with our home grown order management system was not challenging and work very well. Our systems really complemented each other.

Cons

Ship station couldn’t do the customized level of rules example: If FedEx beats Ups on ground rates Ups upgrades them to 3rd or 2nd day depending on the location free of charge.

they have made the product very affordable for many companies who would like to do online sales and have too many freight features enabled.

Cons

You need to watch what content is being shipped as most of the dealers do not adhere to the rules and which is actually a good practice. system does not track this.

the best thing about this is it is easy to set up and implement. It provides lot of easy tracking information.

Cons

It would be perfect to be able to say what products are in each box. Being able to print off packing lists for each box with exactly what's inside would be extremely helpful!

This software is easy to use and I love the fact that I can generate tons of shipping labels ( FedEx, UPS, USPS and others ) In bulk. The ease of use of the program is phenomenal. I can also upload orders and styles via CSV in a special format which is awesome!

Cons

The only real issue I have is customer service. It is kind of hard to get in contact with someone when you actually need some live help on issues and questions.

Cons

For some reason, the BAR CODE for the End of the Day Shipments does NOT scan at the USPS offices. I have had to PRINT it out.

There's no doubt that ShipStation is built well and has the necessary features to please companies of all sizes. We've found very few problems in our 2-3 years of utilizing the platform and it's the best solution we've found to this point. We would recommend the system to any company looking to expertly manage its shipping operations.

Pros

Our publishing company utilizes ShipStation to handle inventory and shipping management. The system is extremely comprehensive, offering a robust feature set covering orders, shipments, products, customers, and reports. It's easy to set up multiple stores for different aspects of the business in order to keep the silos separate, and alerts draw your eye to the areas that need attention. ShipStation can also be seamlessly integrated with various e-commerce platforms so that orders are ported directly over and into the shipment queue. Once shipped, we enjoy the tracking features that allow our team to check shipment status whenever customers have inquiries. Additionally, there's an insight section that shows how many customers interacted with a their personal tracking pages, how many shipment notifications have gone out in a given time period, and general sales trends.

Cons

The interface isn't the prettiest, but it gets the job done and doesn't suffer from glitches. Occasionally, we have a little bit of trouble locating a specific option because the system has so many features. Perhaps the organization or visibility of some areas could be improved.

Cons

Sometimes I feel like there is too many steps for a certain task. Also, printing from the Zebra requires an extra step - that could be a user error though.

ShipStation is a great option for shipping large quantities of products. The customer support is usually helpful and tries to get you an answer as quickly as possible. The real selling point of ShipStation for me personally, is the integrations and discount during bulk shipping (especially around the holidays).

Cons

ShipStation is only as reliable as the mail. If any other website is down, like USPS for example, ShipStation also tends to have an error.

Cons

no phone customer service. sometimes an easy solution will take a while to get answered just because they do not have customer service on phone and sometimes not even on chat.

Pros

ShipStation is a great software for anyone who ships products...especially those who sell through multiple sales channels. It integrates with basically all of the online marketplaces and website platforms as well as software such as Sellbrite that help manage inventory and listings on those channels. The automation rules are awesome for routing orders where they need to go without having to hire someone to process paperwork, and automatically populating info onto shipping labels is great.

SS is a user friendly shipping software,but it takes forever to get a response from customer service

ShipStation saves my time to print my shipping labels, but the plan price is a little bit too high since I am high volume shipper. I found out Circle.us couple weeks ago on Google and have been using it for a while. It's interface is not very easy to use BUT they offer deep discounted shipping labels. I no longer using my own Fedex and UPS accounts anymore. I save approximately 40% shipping cost by using Circle.us.

Pros

It saves my time to print labels for my amazon and eBay stores. I plan to open my Newegg store and shipstation has that.

Cons

Customer service responses slowly.
Price is high if you are a high volume shipper.
International shipping is not easy to use .

If you're looking to speed up your shipping service then this is an excellent choice. Prices are reasonable and there are so many integrations it is more than likely that you'll be able to use it with your marketplace. After you set up automated rules and product information, all it really takes is several minutes to get all the labels you need to be printed. Integration with order fulfillment/warehouse management software also allows you to print labels after picking and packing so you can avoid shipping canceled orders.

-Support for multiple SKU aliases on a single product
-Support for nearly all shipping channels.

-Automated rules

Cons

While ShipStation does have many functions, there are a lot that still need to be improved upon.
You cannot "delete" products, merely deactivate them.
There is a limit to how much you can customize labels.

This shipping system makes my life much easier. I can use the Order display as a working window for what needs made and filled. The formatting for the printed labels allows me to brand differently per sales channel. The default shipping profiles make my life a lot easier in not having to setup each shipment. I just click label and everything prints out as I need it.

Cons

There is a setup time associated with it and it did take the development team a month or two to finally integrate with one of my channels. The results are awesome, but it can take a while to fine tune the system and find all the particular settings needed to get the desired results.

It's a great value. They always have free parties and happy hours for the customers. Easy to use and great customer service.

Cons

The software glitches every now and then. We get errors that something is not printing when it actually did print. Not a big deal but just weird.

Pros

It is easy to add all of your boxes, products, and shipping account and you can even use customer accounts. ShipStation will create commercial invoices, customized packing slips and more. You can set up automations for customers who always use their own shipping account or products that always go in the same box. Customer service is good. The quote calculator is handy.

Cons

I wish it could keep track of shipping box inventory. Some of the customization options need to be selected in multiple places to work, which can be tricky but things are labeled if you look for them.

Having a place to aggregate all of your orders in one place is great. I love the automation rules that you can apply which automatically applies the correct shipping parameters per your specifications. The fact that you can enter all of your shipping information and print off packing lists along with your shipping labels is just great.

Cons

I do wish there was a little more control over the automation, since sometimes items get tagged wrong and I have to go in and manually change shipments. I also wish the labels printed a little sharper. I know that my printer can print sharper, but the labels are a bit pixelated. Not a deal breaker in any way, though.

It is easy to get something printed when connected to your store. You can compare prices.

Cons- It is just painful Painful painful. I hate it. It looks simple but when you try to figure out the email templates, automatons, etc. it's just the worst pain. It just stinks.

I've used ShipStation with Magento, Shopify and Amazon. It brings all the shipping into one location. I can create rules to automate things like sending a confirmation email to everyone but Amazon customers. Very powerful.

Cons

It won't price shop between carriers. This I believe isn't allowed by UPS if you want to use their APIs. This means you can't use FedEx, USPS and UPS and just have ShipStation pick the least expensive method to ship between carriers. Instead I've found another, more advanced shipping tool that will do that.

A simple and affordable way to buy postage and print labels for ecommerce businesses.

Pros

Shipstation is a fantastic shipping suite for our business. We use the integrations for Shopify, eBay, and Amazon. Orders are automatically imported and we are able to simple and efficiently manage shipments for UPS and USPS. Rates are automatically displayed, invalid address warning shown, and everything can be managed from a web-based UI with remotely connected printers using Shipstation Connect. We are able to use our UPS business account with the UPS integration for our set rates. Labels and Pack Slip templates are customizable and simple to set up. Our 4x6 Brother QL1000 continuous label printer works perfectly with Shipstation and Shipstation Connect, and we use standard letter paper for pack slips.

Cons

The Shipstation android app does not work with Shipstation Connect very well in terms of printers, and there are UI issues with it. On top of that, the Shipstation web-based application does not work well on small browser screens, so it is currently almost impossible and very painstaking to print labels from a phone.

I like that is is easy to use, very user friendly.
We have a couple guys who are not too technically savvy, they use shipstation with zero issues.
This syncs nicely with eCommerce platforms, like ebay, etsy, amazon, shopify, ect, and ect.
Great if you are manually inputting this type of info! Return labels process is a breeze.
Easy to search shipments. Ship station also populates data , such as how much you have charged for shipping vs how much you have spent on shipping.
Overall been a great system we use.

Cons

Um the only con that comes to mind is return shipping labels for international shipping are not available.

Love the program except when there is an issue and you are stuck with absolutely no support except through email. Then it stinks!

Cons

The only con is horrible support, it is impossible to talk to a human. It's not right to leave you hanging with a problem for hours, it just isn't right.

The integration with Amazon and Amazon seller fullfilled prime. The system also integrates well with our internal ERP posting tracking back to our system so we can send to our customer easily. We are able to use several shipping platforms in one program- no longer need to check ups worldship and fedex ship manager seperately

Cons

Takes a little longer for our us to process shipping for orders than we would if we used just solely ups worldship or just fedex ship manager. However, we only need one program to use either so overalll time does get saved

Before using ship station, I would have to individually check and compare the rates from each shipping carrier for my small business. I'd have to process orders from different sales channels separately and would have to go in and track each order through each platform to confirm shipping and delivery. Ship Station centralizes all of that, so I save time on the shipping and monitoring of my products' delivery.

Cons

It doesn't tell you your average cost to ship a specific item. This is, to date, my only issue with Ship Station.

-Access to great rates if not a volume shipper
-Great features for making sense of shipments

Cons

-Nonsensical separation of externally-generated shipments and platform-generated shipments. The distinction is important, though no point in limiting reporting functionality for one over the other as there is no fundamental difference
-Order-specific activity archive is very short(2 months) - hope to improve this in the future
-Many common-sense features need implementation or improvement upon, though support elects to create features based on votes and not to improve quality of life

Every marketplace shows up all on the same page. Ebay, our website, etsy, everything all in one area and easy to see, you can make notes for each order, set tags for specific shipping types or people.

Cons

Glitches every once in awhile and doesn't speak back to our marketplace and mark an order as shipped. Or when we have to void a shipping label, and issue a new one, it doesn't update it in our marketplace for the customer to see their new and correct tracking information.
