# ShipStation User Reviews

## Reviews summary

- Overall rating: 4.6/5
- Total reviews: 961

### Secondary ratings

- Ease of use: 4.5/5
- Customer support: 4.3/5
- Value for money: 4.5/5
- Functionality: 4.5/5

### Rating distribution

- 5 stars: 703 reviews (73%)
- 4 stars: 181 reviews (19%)
- 3 stars: 27 reviews (3%)
- 2 stars: 21 reviews (2%)
- 1 star: 29 reviews (3%)

### Most mentioned pros

- Its automation rules save a huge amount of time by reducing repetitive tasks, and the platform integrates smoothly with many major marketplaces and carriers.
- It eliminates the manual labor of jumping between different marketplaces, allowing us to manage every shipment from a single, unified dashboard.
- ShipStation combines all the necessary shipping and tracking tools needed under one roof. While being a fairly cost-effective solution for warehouse teams, it is pretty robust.

### Most mentioned cons

- ShipStation's ChannelEngine integration incorrectly reads tax-inclusive line item values from ChannelEngine's order payload and then adds tax again at the order level, causing every order to appear double-taxed.
- I ran into repeated issues with packing slip formatting changing or breaking, label purchasing problems caused by small account/funding mismatches, added payment processing fees on labels, and support that often felt slow or unhelpful.
- For a small business, shipping software has to be dependable. If it creates extra friction during fulfillment, that defeats the purpose.

We have a warehouse, we have ecommerce sites, we have a remote warehouse. Because of the ability to integrate all aspects of our business for fulfilment we need ship station. (How did we do it before?)

#### Ratings breakdown

#### Pros

Ease of ability to integrate multiple sales channels (Amazon, Shopify and esty) for both doing FBM as well as self fulfilled from our warehouse.

Overall, ShipStation has been a reliable and effective solution for streamlining the entire shipping workflow. Once you get comfortable with the interface, it significantly reduces manual work and keeps fulfillment running smoothly. Even with a few usability challenges, it remains a strong platform that supports business growth and operational efficiency.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

ShipStation offers a powerful set of tools that make managing orders, printing labels, and handling multi‑channel shipping far more efficient. Its automation rules save a huge amount of time by reducing repetitive tasks, and the platform integrates smoothly with many major marketplaces and carriers. The dashboard is organized in a way that helps you stay on top of fulfillment without feeling overwhelmed.

#### Cons

Despite its strengths, ShipStation can feel complicated when you’re first learning the system, especially if you manage multiple stores or carriers. Some features are buried behind menus, and certain advanced tools require extra setup that isn’t always intuitive. Pricing can also become a concern for smaller businesses as their shipping volume grows.

My overall experience was a positive one. I would definitely recommend this product to others. I can only imagine that some big entity is going to try to merge platforms to increase efficiency of their product. I used it with PayPal and honestly miss the interface. It was a great product.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 3/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

Ship station is easy to use. I was able to easily setup my account. I could track packages efficiently. The discounts on shipping were excellent. I never had any issues. When I made a mistake in ordering, it was easy to make adjustments. I never had to reach out to customer support which was nice. Everything seemed secure and easy!

#### Cons

I did not have any complaints with ship station. Once I understood the interface, it seemed very easy to navigate. Updating the address was not the easiest to do but once you understand, it is not bad. I would have liked some preset address options or better copy and paste options

ShipStation has been largely positive, especially when it comes to its seamless integration with ecommerce platforms. WooCommerce, in particular, connects effortlessly, making it easy to pull orders, manage shipments, and keep everything in sync without extra work on my end. That reliability has made day‑to‑day fulfillment much more efficient. The main drawback has been the responsiveness of support. When everything is running smoothly, ShipStation is a huge time‑saver, but during moments when you need quick assistance—especially on tight project deadlines—waiting for support can be frustrating.

#### Ratings breakdown

It's seamless integration with ecommerce platforms, one in particular I use frequently is WooCommerce.

#### Cons

We've used Shipstation to purchase and print labels from both the API and web portal. Both the API and web portal are quite good, with the web portal being best in class.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 3/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Shipstation has by far the best UX/UI of any of the shipping softwares we've used (Shippo, Easypost, Pirate Ship). It also has far more frontend features. If you're primarily using the web portal for shipping management, this is your best bet. You'll get things done much faster than with alternative options.

#### Cons

The biggest downside of Shipstations is their carrier rates. USPS rates are quite bad as they force you to provision your own USPS account. Other platforms allow you to use their rates for USPS, which gets you much better discounts (unless you ship 50,000+ pieces a month on your own account, you won't match the discounts on Shippo or similar).

#### Reasons for choosing ShipStation

We use both Shippo and Shipstation. Any USPS parcels go Shippo because the rates are so much better

ShipStation makes online order fulfillment easy. It imports all of your order and customer information into the software from most online selling platforms. It pulls the shipping information so all you have to do is confirm and ship. It is easy to customize your settings such as packing slips and messages to buyers. I love how it sends the tracking number back to the appropriate platform so that I don’t have to do that manually. The shipping prices are low and all shipping options are available. I highly recommend using this for order fulfillment.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

I like how all shipping services are available and easy to apply. Everything is easy to understand and operate. The software communicates with most selling platforms and keeps updated inventory.

#### Cons

I would like the pricing to be based on volume not number of platforms.

#### Reasons for choosing ShipStation

There were more shipping options.

#### Reasons for switching to ShipStation

I needed software that would integrate with my online sells platforms.

### Can't get it to work to even start and live chat support is really bad

My overall experience? Very stressful and upsetting dealing with unqualified support staff who wasted my time and got me nowhere. This, to me, says a lot about the company. What happens after our store goes live and something breaks? Will it be down a week because support is non-existent? Or can I trust a company to build a quality product when they won't invest in quality help? I hope they and others like them are listening. This is not just ShipStation. Companies need to realize the importance of good support. It can make them or break them. I'm off now to find a company with good, well-trained support that has a good command of the English language. Do they still exist?

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 2/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 1/5
- Functionality: 1/5

#### Pros

The ai chat bot was great. Very well trained. I was excited, but could only go so far before I needed a human. Then things went to hell. Never could get it working to know how well it works.

#### Cons

There are many problems and the labels were misleading so it was impossible to know what the real problem was. Is it a bug? Is it misconfiguration? Is it just something I don't understand because the explanations on the page weren't clear? I couldn't say and live chat was not helpful at all. He couldn't understand the simplest questions so after 2 hours of trying to get the app connected to our store, and Loom video after Loom video I made to make it easy for him to comprehend, I had to give up trying. Even though his vocabulary was large, it's pretty clear, because of his lack of comprehension, that English was not his first language. But if he knew his job, the language shouldn't have even been a problem. If the shipping app doesn't connect to your ecommerce store, and I showed him pictures to make it crystal clear (it said no shipping options), he should have been trained enough to know what to do to fix it. He didn't even understand the question.

#### Reasons for switching to ShipStation

Bugs with Easyship and a week later they still didn't even attempt to address them.

If we can work out the Kinks with Ship From Locations we will be able to easily ship to multiple supported carriers without additional development time for unique integrations from each company into our Custom Order Entry Software.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 3/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

Initially Importing Orders with little setup time using the XML integration helped us import orders using our custom Order Entry Program in a two-day time frame. It is also easy to add in supported carriers providing you have the required information. Automatic Notifications and returns support is a great added feature.

#### Cons

The missing value for B2B customers is missing support for Blind Shipping, in our case, we only update the company name in the ship at this time which we are unable to do in ShipSttion, the recommended workaround was to re-enter 2500+ resellers in each location as a unique Ship From Location. (We have 3) Alternatively we can tax our shipping employee with entering them with each new shipment. Otherwise, I think the lack of bulk importing these Ship From Locations makes things a little worse off. I am hopeful that more features will be released with B2B and Dropship customers in mind.

#### Reasons for choosing ShipStation

I have heard good things about Shipstation. it would just seem that it is more geared towards smaller B2C stores at this time.

#### Reasons for switching to ShipStation

To prevent additional work required for each carrier to be integrated into our custom system.

### Shipstation is great software for the price, but it has its limitations

Shipstation is great, but as you scale out your business you will most likely need to move to a more robust WMS. For many start up companies that do not have a lot of inventory or a high volume of SKU's, Shipstation will provide a powerful tool that can help speed up fulfillment and release many of the frustration of shipping product while not costing you huge amounts of money.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 3/5

#### Pros

Shipstation is great for companies that are looking for a label printing solution for there shopping carts. Shipstation is able to handle high volumes of orders and allows for labels to be pre-printed, which can greatly increase the fulfillment time. There are pretty good filtering options that can lead to more efficiencies when printing that can save time with your fulfillment team. Shipstation integrates with many different platforms fairly seamlessly, which allows for more diversity in the ever growing number of platforms that are out there. They are also constantly adding new platforms that can integrated with. I think the fact that this software is user friendly and efficient in its design makes this software a worthwhile investment for those that need a better shipping solution.

#### Cons

The issues that we have run into with this software as we have scaled to processing over 3000 shipments a day are too many holes which can cause many opportunities for errors, processing speeds, and lack of flexibility. When you are processing up to 3000 orders a day problems flesh themselves out quickly. One issue that has arisen is the inability to hold people accountable when errors occur. For example, since the labels are pre-printed there is not a simple to way to know who misshiped an order when it is sent incorrectly to a customer. On top of that, since the labels are pre-print there is no way to verify through software on the outbound that a shipment is correct. You have to trust that your team is packing order correctly, which is guaranteed to cause problems regardless. There is also the possibility that labels can be double printed or not printed at all since labels are processed and then a PDF is created to print orders. This has been costly for us an multiple occasions, which is hardly preventable no matter who you have printing. Due to the fact that Shipstation is cloud based this can cause issues with processing speeds. We have seen hang ups (especially on Mondays) that cause the whole team to be slowed down due. The other issue with cloud based system is the lack of flexibility for Shipstation to be customized to how you would like it. If changes are made they have to be made globally, which can take a while or just simply cannot happen altogether.

#### Pros

It has a fairly easy operating face that makes training simple. Easy and simple shipments rarely if ever, have issues.

#### Cons

There is nowhere to be able to input a weight of a shipping carton itself to help with calculations of when something will be too heavy to go via a certain shipping services which has led to some overcharging later down the road. There are several features that have been requested through the threads that devs neither respond to, nor seem inclined to implement. To use all the possible features, you have to switch back and forth between the old layout and new layout, and this is not a simple toggle feature.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

• I was assigned a specific person as my customer service representative, and when I called with an issue, one of the customer rep picked up the phone and answered my question on the spot; meaning, I didn't have to dial a ton of menu options or wait on hold at all to speak with a person. She is also very responsive to emails. We tend to look at websites and applications as faceless businesses, but with ShipStation I know there is someone on the other end that cares about my experience. • Integrates seamlessly with Squarespace Commerce account • Automatically marks order fulfilled when a shipping label is printed • Connects to printer easier than Stamps.com

#### Cons

• Have to load balances instead of paying for what you use as you go. I encountered this with Stamps.com as well, but it is annoying because I have to make cash flow considerations when all I need is a few extra dollars to print a label. • Cannot edit manual orders, need to delete and re-create an order if changing quantity or amount of a product. • I "chose" ShipStation because it was the only shipping option that would integrate with Squarespace. Most of my issues were encountered while trying to transition from Stamps.com to become familiar with the new platform. Though very similar, ShipStation INITIALLY felt like a clunkier, gaudier version of the same thing. Thankfully, they've recently made some positive design changes. However, there are still some quirky user interface aspects, including: — animated "help/info" bubbles (which I just figured out how to hide). — In Stamps.com, I was able to see if my thermal printer was connected (or visible to the website) before clicking "print" — which, when I click, charges the postage to my account regardless if the label actually printed. In ShipStation, I have to click "print" without knowing if the website is able to send the job to the printer. This has resulted in additional postage billed to my account because I clicked "print." I then have to wait for that amount to be refunded in my account. Though I should add, I rarely have printer connection issues with ShipStation, whereas it used to be the bane of my Stamps.com experience. — Stamps.com also made it easy to see all the USPS shipping options and rates at a glance, while viewing an order. In ShipStation, I either have to select a service, then an option from within that service or open up a separate rate calculator. This makes it harder to find the lowest shipping fee/service or fastest method for its value when modifying individual orders.

My overall experience with ShipStation has been a seamless one, with a very simple setup at the beginning of the process with a easy to follow and easy to use platform to follow up until today. I have been able to instruct some of my coworkers on how to deal with the platform and they were able to obtain a solid understanding of its functionalities within a matter of minutes, which suggests that really anyone can manage this service with just a short amount of training.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

What I like most about this software is its capability of offering shipment options from all of the major shipment carriers, those being USPS, UPS, and FedEx. I also very much like the fact that all shipments are charged at the same rate as if you would be shipping them from an on-site location, which in turn provides an incredible convenience factor. All of the shipments made from all of the carriers used are consolidated into one easy to handle screen, where the shipping labels can be generated from and then tracked online. Overall, a great platform, and I would definitely recommend it to those who ship packages on a regular basis.

#### Cons

There is not much to dislike about this software when it comes to its functionalities and ease of use and setup, when I think about it to a great extent. The only con that I can potentially think of is the pricing of the service, which I feel would could be a little lower in order to attract even more potential consumers. When comparing the costs of this service with those of their competitors, one might argue that the cost of the service could be a little more competitive. Other than that one aspect, there is not much else to report on the negative front.
