Overall my experience with Zoho Books was good. I mainly used it to manage and track company expenses, and the automatic bank connection saved me a lot of time. Being able to see transactions in AED and have expenses automatically pulled from the Wio company account made managing the finances much more convenient. For a small business I found it useful for keeping everything organized in one place.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

I used Zoho Books when I was running my company Caseify and it made managing our expenses much easier. I could keep track of all my business expenses in AED in one place. The bank connection with Wio was especially useful because it automatically tracked expenses from the company bank account so I didn't have to enter every transaction manually. It made it much easier to keep an eye on where the company money was being spent.

#### Cons

It can take a little time to understand all the features when you first start using it. Some of the options can feel a bit overwhelming if you only need basic bookkeeping.

Overall it helps me manage my finances and keep the track of my costs. Also, UI needs to be updated a bit including the dashboard.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 3/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

Zoho Books is honestly a fantastic tool if you’re running a small business or want to keep it for tracking personal expenses and want to put your accounting on autopilot without spending a fortune. It handles the daily grind like sending out invoices and matching up bank statements incredibly well. Plus, if you already use other Zoho apps like their CRM, everything connects perfectly right out of the box. They even have a free plan. I use it for making sure I am paying bills, getting the money I gave people.

#### Cons

Zoho puts strict caps on how many invoices and bills you can log each year, meaning you might be forced to upgrade to a pricier plan even if you don't need the extra features. It also doesn't play as nicely with outside apps compared to giants like QuickBooks.

#### Reasons for switching to Zoho Books

For getting a free version of keeping my expenses under control.

#### Ratings breakdown

#### Pros

Zoho is a great app for small businesses and it can grow with you. I use it most to track expenses and to create costumer quotes.

#### Cons

At the moment there isn't something I dislike. One function I wish it had would be to tailor it to all kinds of businesses, like construction.

#### Reasons for choosing Zoho Books

I decided to go with Zoho instead of Acculynx due to price.

#### Reasons for switching to Zoho Books

We switched due to Zoho being very affordable. We stayed for it's functionality and invoice management capacity.

It's a complete solution. I also have automated billing I utilize with Zoho Billing and it integrates perfectly. The automated bills get charged and it records the results and if it's paid automatically in Zoho Books.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 3/5

#### Pros

Integration with so many other different apps Zoho has in addition to the 3rd party apps. I particularly use the Zoho Billing app they have to bill customers automatically each month and the results are auto-recorded in Zoho Books. I had to do that manually before with other software.

#### Cons

There were slow to integrate with well known vendors for payroll like Gusto likely because they were coming out with their own implementation of payroll, which is now available for all 50 USA states.

#### Reasons for switching to Zoho Books

Intuit quit innovating for the desktop versions of Quickbooks.

#### Vendor response

A good piece of software that does what you need it to, but perhaps more suited to small - medium businesses rather than sole traders as quite complex. No real issues, but I did decide to choose an alternative software as it suited my sole trader needs more for a good price.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

It was really useful to be able to link my bank account to the software so that I didn't need to import all of my ingoing/outgoing transactions manually. It also gives a good overview of your profits/expenses/gross profit.

#### Cons

It was a bit more complicated to navigate than Quickbooks and automating recurring invoices felt a bit fiddly and over-complicated. Another small problem is that it doesn't import your bank transactions until the day after the transaction has taken place, despite refreshing the feed. I like to log my income/expenses the moment the transaction goes through to keep on top of my books.

#### Reasons for choosing Zoho Books

I thought that Quickbooks was over-priced. However I did then switch back to Quickbooks in the end.

#### Vendor response

Hi Luke - Thanks for your detailed review. We are working on certain product enhancements that will address some of your feedback. We hope you give us another try in the future.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 2/5
- Value for money: 2/5
- Customer support: 1/5
- Functionality: 2/5

#### Pros

The tagging of transactions to different projects Meant mainly for medium and large companies with separate accounts dept

#### Cons

Not able to handle credit card merchant statements, with the government rules. for e.g. for transactions less than 2000 the MDR is not charged GST. There is no way to handle that other than doing manual entry for each transaction. For a retail business with 1000 transactions a day, doing this is really bad. Zoho support has no solution for this.

#### Reasons for choosing Zoho Books

I thought Zoho would be flexible and efficient. It is did not turn out that way. Wish I had taken Tally

#### Reasons for switching to Zoho Books

They went out of business in India. They left no choice.

My overall experience with Zoho Books has been very positive. It has helped simplify day-to-day accounting tasks while improving financial organization and accuracy. The software is reliable, user-friendly, and suitable for businesses looking for an affordable cloud-based accounting solution. The regular updates and automation features make managing finances much more efficient, and I would recommend it to other small and medium-sized businesses.

It simplifies invoicing, expense tracking, bank reconciliation, and financial reporting in one place. The automation features save time, and the integration with other Zoho applications makes it an excellent choice for small and growing businesses.

#### Cons

Some advanced accounting and customization features require time to learn, especially for new users. Certain reports and integrations could offer more flexibility, and customer support response times may occasionally be slower during busy periods. However, these issues do not significantly affect the overall experience.

I switched to Zoho Books from FreshBooks a little over a year ago when the cost of FreshBooks became unmanageable and free options, such as Wave, did not serve my purposes. I was also looking for a cloud invoicing/expense-tracking system that was less glitchy and easier to use. Zoho Books is all of that. As a sole proprietor, the price suits my budget perfectly. Clients have told me that paying me through Zoho is much easier than paying me through FreshBooks or Wave. At tax time, it's easy to send my Profit & Loss report to my accountant. I also like that I can attach receipts to my expenses. I'm very thankful for Zoho Books and hope they continue to meet the needs of sole proprietors like me.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Zoho Books is easy for me to use and much easier for my clients to use when paying me. They've given me positive feedback about their invoicing experiences. It's also affordable, which was a huge deciding factor when I switched from another cloud invoicing program.

#### Cons

I wish I could see when a client has "viewed" my invoice. Also, I didn't realize that listing vendors on my expenses, such as Amazon, would count as "Contacts" and use up some of my slots. I'm glad I know now and I'm rectifying it.

#### Reasons for choosing Zoho Books

Although both Wave and And.co offer free versions, I found them harder to use (particularly Wave). Clients found Wave a bit glitchy and the software was not intuitive.

#### Reasons for switching to Zoho Books

FreshBooks raised their rates to outrageous levels and gave little advance notice about it. The software was glitchy and my clients were complaining about having difficulty paying. Their system went down at least once a week, which has fortunately not happened to me yet with Zoho Books. Although FreshBooks touts their live customer support, I encountered some rather cranky people there (they were probably fed up with getting calls about the humongous price increase). I'd rather interact with a helpful Zoho support person via chat than an unpleasant FreshBooks support person by phone.

It also offers great GST compliance features which are a big advantage for my business.

#### Cons

Overall Zoho Books is definitely a positive; cost-effective, has about all the features a small business might need. Cloud-based with a solid mobile app so good for being on the go. Free tier offers a low-risk entry point. Not really a seamless alternative to QB but works well for basic accounting and invoicing.

Favorite feature: automated invoicing and payment tracking. Generating invoices is easy; recurring invoices and payment integration helps with cash flow management. Mobile app is a plus, gives real-time access to financials. Free plan for businesses under $50K in revenue is good and we use it with Zoho Expense and it works seamlessly.

Currently, Zoho Books is not capable of handling volume entries. You will be blocked if you go too fast, as I do. Then you have to wait hours before you can get back in. I created several users to be able to do my work. Also, the batch import feature does not work, since it does not pick up the product code on multi-line invoices. Our pricing went up last year, but Zoho's recurring invoices didn't pick up the new pricing, and the customers were invoiced at the old price, which caused massive service problems. Because of this, we are moving to another software, and I cancelled the auto-renewal with Zoho. Our access was immediately blocked (despite paying for the remainder of the year in advance), and now nobody has access to our own accounting. Currently, there is no one available in support to assist us, so we are waiting for a callback. It's beyond frustrating. The system is terrible, and the support is even worse. I do not recommend Zoho to any company.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 1/5
- Value for money: 1/5
- Customer support: 1/5
- Functionality: 1/5

#### Pros

It looks modern and intuitive. It has a sales portal that customers can access online and view their invoices and payments. That is the feature that sold the program to us.

#### Cons

The debit and credit side is the wrong way round as it follows the Indian system. For example, in the UK a sales balance of -£100 means that the customer owes £100 pounds and has to pay. In Zoho however, it means that the customer is in credit by £100 and would potentially need a refund. Blocks you if you type and click your mouse fast. There are problems with batch invoicing, and it takes a lot of time to review invoices one by one. The system does not extract more than 100 statements at a time. You really should find another system if your sales ledger is large.

#### Reasons for choosing Zoho Books

It has a sales portal that customers can access online and view their invoices and payments. That is the feature that sold the program to us.
