Sophos Endpoint Antivirus software

Sophos Endpoint Antivirus is a hybrid antivirus solution that provides businesses protection against malware, viruses and offers a remote management tool. The anti-malware protection is designed to identify, block or remove threats, thus protecting computers and servers from viruses, adware, spyware and other infections. It can be deployed on-premise or hosted in the cloud.

Web protection adds a layer of defense, which prevents attacks originating from infected websites, scanning for and blocking threats before they can affect devices.

Sophos Endpoint Antivirus also features device and application control which enables an administrator to set rules governing the use of removable media like USBs and mobile and wireless devices. Unauthorized applications and devices can be prevented from accessing the network that helps prevent the spread of malware and reducing the risk of data loss.

Sophos Endpoint Antivirus includes a centralized management console which enables an administrator to monitor computers on the network. Support is offered via livechat and through an online helpdesk and a knowledge base.

Supported Operating System(s):
Windows 7 , Windows Vista , Mac OS , Linux , Web browser (OS agnostic) , Windows 2000 , Windows 8 , Windows 10

    Pros

Sophos is pleasant to look at and works unnoticed on the background. It is a really unobtrusive anti-virus ,which for me is the biggest plus of the program .

    Cons

You need an IT department or someone computer savvy to properly set up the program parameters at the beginning.

I like that Sophos works unnoticed . You don't know it's there unless there is a problem ( which is quickly taken care of ) .The scans are comprehensive and quick .

    Cons

It benefits from having a centralized ,designated admin who can handle all issues and / or updates and that can be a lot of work for one person .

I like that it updates silently and without requiring any user interaction, and the cloud console is good, giving you an overview of all your devices, users, and their status.

    Cons

Many of our machines would over time start having issues with certain AV services stopping, requiring an uninstall / re-install, because the system couldn't automatically correct whatever the issue was. This was troubling as our users have no administrative ability to stop services on their machine so I am unsure what would cause behavior like this.

We chose Sophos Endpoint Protection because it had very good feedback and I can confirm this product is very good and very efficient on computers.

    Cons

The console is difficult to use for a novice administrator and often has performance problems in console.

    Pros

Sophos is an effective cyber security suite that will definitely keep your computers and data networks safe.

    Cons

The user interface is a bit clunky and could use a face lift. The program itself consumes way more processing power than I think it should when opened. It is also a bit more invasive than other more discrete competitors, e.g. popping up on the screen seemingly unprompted to show you a review of the last system scan. Our company stopped using this software after 5 months in operation.

Endpoint makes setup easy for a large user. Great management console allows you to apply settings to all users quickly. It detects threats quickly and reduces stress level for our IT department

    Cons

Some features require and additional license, ie zero day protection. To most this is a feature that should just be included even if it raises price of software. Support can take awhile to respond.

    Pros

The great thing is our users don't get interfered by working while being fully protected. I think it's nice that we can enable device control. There are a lot of external people coming in and without some overview of what they connect to our devices we would've probably gotten in trouble a lot if it wasn't for Sophos

    Cons

We've contacted the customer support a few times and I feel this isn't on par with the security the software gives. We get an exhausting list of things to try to fix the problem but when it doesn't there isn't a real followup.. We end up testing ourselves or finding the fix online.

    Pros

I like how easy it is to scan my computer. I don't have a lot of experience with antivirus software and this is makes it easy to use and is easy to understand when something is detected

    Cons

It takes a very long time for my computer to be scanned but I have always attributed it to the amount of storage on my computer. I don't have many cons to report about this software:

Every once in a while it seems like my laptop might be a rocket ship taking off, but then I realize Sophos is doing it's think and scanning my computer. It doesn't last that long though.

Good price and easy to use protection for pc and Mac

    Pros

It works with both pc and Mac computers. This flexibility was a must when we were looking to protect both platforms. Overall a good value with a simple intuitive interface.

    Cons

Overall works well. Simple interface, though this may limit user ability to modify scans or do more robust activities.

Sophos is really easy to use. It is one of the leaders in the online security for SMOs. Does offer a free version for Home users as well. Low resource consumption on the system compared with other vendors

    Cons

UI is very limited really and everything is pointing to their own sites. Might be initially confusing for some old school users.

    Great and reliable antivirus

    Pros

Network security is very important to my company, and one of the widely used and recommended antivirus programs that users need to have installed in order to remote VPN is Sophos, so that says a lot to me about the reliability of the software. So far I have had no issues and have not been infected by any viruses since using the tool. It seems to be a very robust tool and works to protect my files, downloads, browsers, and network activity. The settings are also easy to change.

    Cons

The cloud based configuration is interesting.. Maybe I'm just not used to it, but if one where to have no internet connection then you can't modify settings. But then at the same time, the cloud based settings allow one to globally modify all the clients that are on the account, so I could see that being a powerful feature.

    Cons

Being so detailed in it's searches means that it some times marks programs as viruses when they aren't that ,but better safe than sorry.
