Symantec Endpoint Protection for Small Business Software

Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition is a cybersecurity defense suite specifically designed for needs of the small business.

Core features include antivirus, antispyware and a firewall to protect laptops, desktops and file servers from online threats and hackers. The solution also analyzes downloaded files and applications for potential threats, which prevent employees from triggering attacks.

Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition has a central control panel and can be managed on-premise or through the cloud via an online portal. A single administrator has the capability to set policies for devices and users and can receive security alerts via SMS or email. Updates are delivered automatically via the Web to employees’ computers which helps in keeping the security of systems up-to-date.

Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition charges users depending on the number of licenses and that includes support via phone and email.

Pros

Symantec provides great manageable rule for firewall, application control and device control. In my opinion, symantec is the best AV on the market.

Cons

It is difficult to find big cons of this product, because the system in the last version works great and is very functional. Maybe just integration with AV for iOS and Android

When Symantec's protection software is installed on my computer, I can have peace of mind knowing that my system will be protected against practically all threats out there.

Cons

My biggest gripe with symantec programs is that they seem to slow down my computer more than other protection programs. For me, this is worth the peace of mind knowing my computer is protected.

Pros

This antivirus application is easy to use, it has countless of features and options, and it is easily manageable.

Cons

My only complaint if the fact that I believe they removed the option to do a virus scan of a particular file by right clicking on the file and selecting scan for viruses option, I am not sure if this was removed by Symantec but I no longer have the option.

Pros

The software is great at stopping anything bad into your computer systems. We always felt secure with their software...probably the most secure we have every felt. If security is your top priority, we would highly recommend Symantec.

Cons

Our systems ran slower with Symantec that with other software. To make matters worse, we have a touchy software that accesses a database that seems to really act up when there is a drain on system resources. Sadly, with more of a drain on resources than other software, it also caused more problems with our other software functioning properly.

Good quality software; definitely the lesser of many evils out there.

Pros

First and foremost, they are an American company, always a plus. Surprisingly for antivirus software that is hard to find. From the companies I've worked at that have used various protection software's, Symantec was one of the few with not too many issues. I often saw with Kasperksy that it would lock out certain things for the IT department and it was a hassle to fix. Symantec also does not seem to destroy your processor speed like many others. The company systems I am on now just got changed over to McAfee and half your day is spent waiting on the anti-virus to allow your various programs to run.

Cons

Older versions were difficult to manage and the GUI's were not as friendly. This has changed significantly though, for the better. Management for full systems is still on the slow side, hopefully changes will come for this as well.

Most virus programs are in-your-face with warnings and anything else they can find to occupy screen space. Thankfully that's not the case. You can scan when you want and what you want, and I'm assuming it's always keeping things in check in the background.

Secured our servers and desktops effectively and efficiently. Centralized security management of our devices.

Pros

We have used Endpoint Protection for many years with minimal issues. We moved to the hosted version last year which has made deployment and management even easier and eliminated the need for a dedicated server.

Cons

System resource usage tends to be excessive, particularly at system startup and initial login. User control from the desktop is fairly minimal which can make troubleshooting an issue on the rare occasion it's necessary.

Pros

I like that the software has a small footprint and runs quietly. I don't like when antivirus software talks to me or bugs me every five minutes with popups. Endpoint Security runs silently in the background, sends notifications when they're needed, and doesn't otherwise bother me. I might even forget it was there.
The interface is very minimal, not overloading you with lots of big buttons to click on.

Cons

I don't have much in the way of complaints right now, but I will say that while I like the simple interface, I do find that sometimes I would like to have a little more control from the user side, or at least the option to view it while sitting at a users desk.

Pros

The software is easy to install, configure and use. It has blocked 100% of the intrusion attempts into our network and has stopped all viruses in their tracks!

I really don't have any negative comments about this software other than it would be nice to have more detailed information on intrusion attempts such as the IP address the intrusion is coming from.

Cons

This was a great AV in the early 2000s. Since the merging with Norton, it just doesn't seem to have the same quality. AV can be a resource hog and prevent other normal programs from working, that should have no issues. I usually discourage clients from Symantec, if possible.

The benefit i get from using Symantec is the peace of mind knowing my personal data is secure at all times, customer support is always ready to help whenever needed; Moreover, Symantec even scans any application that i download from the web, and makes it sure that is it safe before executing the install, that is a huge plus for me.

Pros

Symantec does a great job in terms of blocking viruses, malware, spyware, ads, and it is fast. I use it daily on my PC and as well as at my workplace. The security updates download automatically and daily in the background without bugging the user, I can scan a particular file or directory, i can schedule a scan anytime of my preference, also if a new updates has been installed and if it requires me to reboot my pc, i can choose a later time to perform that task Symantec is great in terms of security, i have a peace of mind when i use Symantec knowing i am safe when browsing the web. Next feature, is the quick customer support, Symantec customers reps are always available at any given time.

Cons

One of the downside of using Symantec is that it takes up a lot of system memory since the applications is always running in background. My RAM space on my PC is 8GB, when Symantec is running in the background it takes up-to 35-45 percent of my RAM, which then i do not have much left of to work with.
