MINDBODY is a cloud-based club management and appointment scheduling solution designed for the needs of small to midsize businesses. The product is primarily used by gyms, fitness and personal training centers, salons, spas and massage centers, wellness centers, dance schools and yoga studios.

MINDBODY offers features such as scheduling with wait list management, appointment booking through Facebook, automated scheduling of email and texts and online bookings. Memberships can be managed through MINDBODY as well.

MINDBODY also features a toolset for marketing management. With MINDBODY, notifications and alerts can be set up for customers, targeted marketing campaigns can be launched and marketing reports can be generated and assessed.

MINDBODY also offers staff management features, which include check-in and check-out management, role-based permissions, payroll management and calendar integration.

MINDBODY offers custom API access that enables third-party developers to integrate their platforms with the solution. The product offers a marketplace for applications that can be integrated with MINDBODY, such as Spafinder Wellness 365, Xero, Perkville, RelateLOOP, Zcubator and WaiverKing.

This thing has a ton of stuff, but it is not just to help you keep track of inventory, you can schedule classes, automatic emails and texts, even direct texts with customers or SMS ( same thing right? )

Cons

Again the one thing I always do not like is a monthly cost. This however.. is that rare occasion when I would pay more than what the monthly cost is. It would be that valuable to any business small or growing, 1 store or 10 to ?

Fancy but not worth it.

This has a lot of bells and whistles. Fancy for sure; would be great for a club. However, if you are truly a small business think long and hard before committing to mindbody. The price for taking recurring gym memberships QUADRUPLED in the four years I used them. When I decided it was not sustainable, it cost me hundreds of dollars to get the stored credit card info out of their server. When I got it it was only half of the information. When I called to ask about the missing people, and about the data itself I was told that when I agree to have that set of reports run I also agree to cut all ties with mindbody including access to their support. So think long and hard because while it is pretty and fancy and does lots of cool stuff, it’s pretty ugly on the other side.

Pros

Lots of features and reports. It was relatively easy to set up, and while the app is unimpressive the desktop was great.

Cons

Constant substantial price hikes.
Lack of customer service.
Could not get the same answers to questions, sometimes even from the same person.

Extremely disappointed about having to change software after being with MINDBODY for nearly 10 years but just couldn’t afford the whopping 71% price increase in my monthly subscription fee. Even more disappointed with the hard line attitude of ‘if you don’t like it then you’re free to leave’. Don’t know what’s happened to the company ethos but it’s a shame there is no longer any interest in taking care of the ‘little people’ who were part of the rise to success journey for so long. Highly recommend this product IF you can afford it.

Pros

Fantastic product which just works. Really well designed and highly intuitive. Good technical support.

Cons

Now ridiculously expensive so no longer affordable for small businesses (even after nearly 10 years of loyalty).

My software worked the first week my business was open. It stopped working and they were zero help trying to fix my problem. Its been 4 days and I still haven't been helped with my issue. Constantly waiting on hold and being told they are working on the issue.

If I wasn't help hostage by my auto pay contracts that run through their software, I would have left a long time ago. You can do much better for much less money.

Pros

Easy to use. That is literally all that is good about this company. I have no idea how they stay in business. They do not care about the businesses they service

Cons

Expensive, credit card processing is super expensive, customer service is the worst I have every dealt with, sales ream is condescending and as soon a the sale is done, you can never get help again.

It looks nice.... but that's about it. You don't have to look too hard to find similar software that isn't riddled with bugs. I'm moving on after years of frustration, save yourself the agony and skip this system.

Cons

They don't listen to clients at all. For years clients have requested the ability to embed tracking code from google/facebook/etc., fixing the issues associated with linked accounts that the app breaks, and many more bug fixes and simple data export abilities. Nothing ever gets done. They just keep putting on flashy conferences and slick marketing plans, then massively increasing the cost of the program well beyond its value.

MindBody allows my company to be seen throughout the city of Austin by customers that want to schedule an appointment for the services we offer at out medical spa. Within a couple of clicks they are able to know about us and schedule with us and even integrates with their calendar so that no appointment is missed. This is a valuable tool that brings our spa many new clients!

Cons

I have not found anything yet that we do not like about this program. Sometimes it seems to run slow but I'm not exactly sure if this is on our end or their end. We are very happy with the enhancements that MindBody continues to make.

A dragged out process with mixed opinions on ways to solve issues

The product was misrepresented when sold to me and after 12 months of trying to solve the reoccuring issues was told the only option was to cancel the data and start again. Not very helpful when you are trying to try payments and make sure outstanding payments are settled.

Pros

If you want something for drop in classes this would work but anything that links together. Technical support team friendly and helpful but conflicting opinions on solutions for issues.

Cons

Over complex systems for grouping together classes with mixed opinions and support. Too much manual input to get a result still 12 months after getting the software I was still having to rectify issues that couldn't be solved.

This system is rapidly going down hill and many are switching over to other more reasonable, lighter, and efficient systems. We're currently in the process of switching over to a much more user-friendly system for our guests.

All in one. I have to type a certain amount of characters in this space but there's really nothing super great about this system that can't be found elsewhere for a fraction of the price.

What happened to this company??

Pros

I know the product fairly well. While a little less intuitive than they pretend to be, the software is pretty decent when you get the hang of it. DO NOT expect lightning speed, cheap payment processing or an abundance of features though.

Cons

They increased their rates by over 100% while totally stripping functionality. To make matters worse, they refuse to offer trial period of premium services so we know what we are getting before we bite the bullet. We are talking a huge difference in price - nearly 300% to get same features I had just 2 months ago.

Cons

A few reports are a little bit more difficult to use and need to be exported to excel, so reporting is 1 area I would like to see some options to automate a payroll report.

One of our franchise partners has ditched MindBody and has chosen to do everything by hand instead of paying their large USD fees

Pros

I inherited this system when purchasing the company but the owner warned me that Mindbody is a poor system that was chosen only because the previous software company went out of business. I've stuck with them for just over a year and some of their customer service reps are great individually but for example I cannot even login as an admin to one of my own studios because I did not purchase a premium membership model

Cons

This system requires 3 to 5 clicks that for others would use 1. We sell memberships yet when we attempt to get a membership report there are no "members". Only premium memberships can generate reports that give business based decision making functions. They have jacked the prices significantly (?? to reflect the large numbers of people leaving their business for other providers). The system crashes every once in a while but crashes have lasted a day at a time and this puts us in a terrible position in terms of running our business locations. MindBody reminds me of a platform that is built by engineers without any gym owners or trainers on the design team.

The workability of their platform has been touch and go from the get go. Outages a couple times a year. I would be in the middle of a business day and suddenly my client formulas and schedules for the day would become unavailable. It takes a lot of work to switch platforms, clients get confused, web integration is time consuming and costly, switching companies was the last thing I wanted to do so I put up with a lot. Now that it is costing me more then double I have no choice but to shop around and cancel. I wish I had never put my faith in them....

Pros

You are banking on it being too hard for businesses to migrate their data...guess what? It's not.

Pros

Once you work out which bits are actually functional and enhance the the profitability of your small business, it's okay. It takes a lot of customising to get the packages to suit how you run your own business. MBS assumes that all gyms run the same.

Cons

MBS have just announced that the most basic of gym functions (arrivals checkins) will be deleted from the basic software offering - thereby forcing users to upgrade to a package . This is just manipulating your market and users. I have started looking for an alternative. I can't afford this.

Popular so you can pick up a new client from time to time. You can run a special to pick up browsing clients.

HUGE rate increases! I signed up 2 yrs ago, spent weeks setting my account up. Upgraded a year later to hire contractors & grow the business. W/in that year I get notice that my monthly fee will increase by 67%. Was told by cust svc "I was welcome to leave and use another service". Flaws I've complained about that were never fixed: Appointment making can be a challenge, esp if you try to sign in via Facebook. The app won't allow a business to require a CC# to make an appt (so if they no show you have no recourse). Check out has 2 options: retail & checkout. Very complex, esp if you have a Spa Finder card. Extremely hard to teach people who are new to the system.

I did like the scheduling benefits and the idea of being able to streamline everything through one platform. I like the layout of the opening screen as far as client communication goes.

Choose a different studio management option before you get so far into MindBody that switching isn't a viable option. When support responds, they're pretty helpful. But more often than not, support requests are ignored altogether.

Pros

It functions, mostly, in spite of bugs, quirks, and complications.

Cons

More often than not, requests for support go ignored. When they are answered, support is usually pretty good. But it's useless if requests go ignored. Sudden price increases with simultaneous removal of features through "pricing tier adjustments." No sense of accountability to client base on the part of MindBody.

It did help with taking payments and scheduling but it is not as effective as some of the other apps out there.

Cons

The sales people are annoying. I would get e-mails and private messages from their sales people telling me how great it is and how everyone is on it. I finally tried it and it did not match the hype. They charged for every feature and the platform itself was clunky. They try to use this across multiple businesses instead of sticking to one and being good at it. I no longer return e-mails or private messages from their sales teams.

After setting up an account and schedules, in the end we wound up going with another company. But if you have classes at just bricks and mortar locations, this software could make sense.

Pros

Ease of setting up profiles for different teachers and schedules all on one platform.

Cons

I found it to be limiting and only really tailored to a bricks and mortar service business, versus a mobile company, which is what we are. I also found the cost to be very high, especially since you are charged per month regardless of how many classes or bookings you receive.

Mindbody is great for scheduling classes. It is very complicated to use though. I like the payroll report. we don't use most of the functions as we are a small studio who don't do a hard sales push on our community.

Cons

Mindbody doubled the cost of the product overnight which is plain unethical and now it is extremely expensive for small independent studios. They sent an email saying they were doing it, but did not offer a alternative subscription. They have since, but removed quite a lot of functionality. The service is helpful and friendly, when you can actually access it. However, you will wait literally hours to get hold of a person on chat or phone to help you with any issues. I am considering changing platforms because I think the company is unethical doing what they did, and no one has half a day to waste waiting to be served. The other thing I do not like about MB is that you have to partner with EZIdebit in Australia for transactions. They too are very expensive.

Pros

A very complete scheduling tool that even offers a POS system directly out of its box. This in itself makes it very slick compared to competitive software.

Cons

The cost of operation of this particular software is absurdly high. If it was slightly lower, I’d suggest using it.

Software that can be used for multiple companies. Makes communication among coworkers a breeze, especially with keeping logs on clients. Really liked the calendar/scheduling feature on the personal training version.

Cons

The software was a little difficult to figure out at first, but once I got it down things were really easy from there on out.

I hear it has all kinds of really great features, and people I work with try to get me to use it.

Cons

I could never figure it out! Maybe it takes a bit more patience, but I added and deleted this app several times.

They make my business look very professional and customers like the ease of use.

Pros

Mindbody has all the features you’ll ever need to run your business. I liked the auto billing feature to run autopsy’s seemlessly. The scheduling set up was a breeze and easy to make changes on the fly. They are always updating to improve and their client support is top notch.

Cons

I didn’t like they kept raising the price then i would call and they would lower it but not all the way.

Tech support is very kind, but there are a lot of features you will be paying for, which you don't use. You might be better going with a software that gives you exactly what you need, less the fluff.

Pros

Mindbody software is the most widely used and integrated software. If api access and external integrations are a big thing for you, then Mindbody is a great option. They work easily with most fitness affiliates.

Cons

It is too expensive for what you get and items can be hard to find on the screen. I found it tough to train new employees how to use the service.
