Dropbox Software

Dropbox is a cloud-based file sharing software system that caters to individuals and businesses of all sizes. This solution allows users to share files and send file requests to people even if they don’t have a Dropbox account. Multiple users can leave comments on files and can collaborate with Microsoft Office.

The solution can recover deleted files and maintains version histories in case users want to recover old file versions. It also keeps track of all actions performed on specific files.

Advanced sharing enables only selected users to see important files, and files can be remotely wiped if sensitive data gets compromised. Dropbox can also back up all photos as they are added.

Dropbox also provides an admin panel to control files centrally. User licenses, content and access permissions can be transferred from one user to the other.

All-Around Favorite for File Collaboration

Ease-of-use

Value for Money

I really love the offline sync that was added in 2017/2018. If you haven't used it since then, give it a run!

Pros

Dropbox makes life super-simple for collaboration both inside an organization and with outside customers and vendors. We have been slowly converting teams to using Dropbox Corporate instead of a local shared drive due to the high level of security and portability of the data. It's ideal for today's distributed workforce!

Cons

I don't love that you're not able to be a bit more selective at how you're sharing information. Sure, you can share at a folder level with others, but you have to be sure users understand that EVERYTHING in that sub-folder will also be shared! Could be a potential user training/security concern.

I don't know what I would do without Dropbox. I share files on it and my friends share theirs with me. It is a must have for any college student!

Sometimes it works slow due to the large files needed to be transferred, but this is only a minor problem.

Pros

We use Dropbox to chronicle and disseminate all information for our non-profit's Board of Directors. Dropbox is fairly easy to use on all platforms (even easier if you get the App!), so it's been a great tool for our team to use to update and distribute documents monthly.

Cons

With the free version, you a limited in the amount of storage space you're allotted on "the cloud"; that said, to upgrade to more storage is easy and fairly reasonable, price-wise. We're still on the free version and are getting exactly what we need from Dropbox.

Value for Money

I used the paid version for several years before switching to Google Drive. I still use the free version for my MS Access database work as it does not give rise to record lock conflicts when the attached database is still in use.

Pros

Clever synchronisation. There are very few problem files but Dropbox lets you know exactly which file is causing the problem.
Will happily manage MS Access with attached databases

Cons

There is not a lot that I do not like about Dropbox.
Little bit expensive if you don't need lots of storage.
The photos and camera uploads seems a bit under-developed give that this a significant area of use with a smart phone.

We use Dropbox with several clients not in our area, but since we are a medical based service company HIPAA is a big concern. We have had to use another cloud storage provider to get our HIPAA sensitive information back and forth between our providers, but we still use Dropbox occasionally for non HPI documents.

Pros

Dropbox has worked great for my company when we need documents from one of our clients that are not in our area. It's easy to install and use.

Cons

Our only problem with Dropbox is that it's not HIPAA compliant. You can password protect, but that's not enough for HIPAA.

Love this program-- it's the backbone of our company.

Pros

Ability to see files from anywhere on any device in real time. Easy to upload to DB from iphone and computers. Great interface with windows-- feels just like using Windows explorer.

Cons

I have noticed that some files will mysteriously disappear. Doesn't happen often, but it does seem to happen. We've had to go through DB on occasion to help resolve. Always good to keep a back-up.

Customer Support

Overall, it's great! Just not as fluid to use consistently as we need.

Pros

It's an accessible place to store tons of documents for our team. The organization and ease of use is great, and the name recognition, desktop icons, and mobile app are a plus.

Cons

This app is incredibly hard to use out in the field. Some of our property managers use Anroids and some iPhones, but neither are able to edit certain key documents to keep them updated when they need to. Personally, I have never had an issue with this product and think it is great. But because of the issues my team is encountering, we are looking into other data storage options that are mobile-optimized.

Dropbox made me more productive at work by saving me time. Prior to my using Dropbox at the workplace ,I always had to move files from one device to another ,before sharing with a colleague or editing them.
Also ,my use of Dropbox has prevented me from having to spend money on hard disks to save files, since with Dropbox : I simply save my files in the cloud.

Pros

The standout feature on Dropbox is how every of my activity on Dropbox is synchronized across all devices connected to my Dropbox account in real time.

Cons

I am unable to play videos or any media content on Dropbox ,because it has no support for media playback.

Absolute stress-reliever that ensures you'll never lose your docs again and always have access anywhere with wifi/4g.

Pros

I love that I don't have to drag my clunky work laptop around because I know all of my docs are in the cloud. As a rule of them I keep my dropbox folder shortcut on my desktop so that everything I work on is immediately dragged and saved in there. If I'm out of office and don't have my computer, no worries! I just log in with my credentials on a different machine and pull what I need. The business aspect of dropbox makes this even better because it's easier to collaboratively share necessary docs with your team.

Cons

Not much. Do wish they want as deep as the google sweet with allowing you work on on docs directly in collaboration with coworkers but it looks like they're working to get up to speed on this. I just think Google does a better job only if collaboration on single docs is a priority to you.
