Viewpoint Team is a cloud-based project management platform. The solution can be used as a standalone platform or integrated with Viewpoint’s ERP solutions. Team connects the back office with field operations and the extended project team and synchronizes data and workflows to support back-office processes and reporting.

Viewpoint Team offers project teams secure and collaborative workflows to plan projects. Project risk can be captured, monitored and mitigated by assigning, tracking and resolving issues. The solution offers secure cloud-based document management, and users can view and mark up documents and drawings.

Operations dashboards provide managers with visualized, filterable action items and project reports. Crews and subcontractors can log all their activities and automatically generate daily reports.

My experience with Viewpoint TEAM

Our company is able to consolidate all parts of project management into TEAM's platform, and all financials within Vista, their increasing ability to communicate is allowing key information to be viewed in TEAM from the field. We continue to find more ways to fully utilize all facets of TEAM. Most recently we found an efficient way to store and distribute company standard document by creating a new project in TEAM with only the documents tab available and then adding all employees as contacts. As TEAM continues to improve we are able to stream-line more and more tasks to be done through the software.

Pros

TEAM's constant improvement to expand and improve its software is a great feature as the construction field is constantly improving and changing as well. TEAM's user friendly platform allows me as an APM to easily add new users that are able to navigate all facets of the project. It is easy to add drawings, documents, and submittals. Newly added distribution groups and the ability to share files from the documents tab is a huge improvement as i am now able to upload and distribute information to the entire project team right from TEAM. Also being able to now assign submittals to a group fixes issues of multiple people in a company needing to upload submittals. The ability to customize projects and add and change certain fields between Vista and TEAM allows further customization if needed. I believe there are further improvements that can be made within the submittals tab, but with the ability to submit ideas and they be implemented i hope that it will continue to improve.

Cons

The ability to send an email directly from TEAM to one or all contacts on the project would allow project managers to notify directly notify the project team from one platform and encourage greater use of the software among sub-contractors on the project.
There is no way to view the notifications sent to a specific person. It is common that a team member will say i am not receiving any notifications or one specifically. The ability to view a log of notifications sent would give users confidence their team is being notified and allow disputes to be settled regarding notifications.
The submittal tab is lacking some features that would allow greater utilization of the software.
- Often there are multiple approvers on a submittal, the ability to customize the workflow would be a great addition
- When viewing the submittal log you can not see the response of a submittal without opening. Project Managers want to be able to scroll through the log and know if a submittal was ; approved, make corrections noted, or that a re-submittal for record is needed.
- When a submittal is uploaded and returned the files are all in one list it is not always clear which files are the submitted and which are the returned. When a user hovers over the attachment icon the files are all grouped together as well. A separate column for the submitted file and returned file would be ideal to improve the file management and allow easy file identification.

Wasn't fast enough for me

Pros

I feel like this product was straightforward. It wasn't too difficult to follow the path of where and what you should be doing.

Cons

The product I was using was on a VPN so it was beyond slow. I didn't get all the functionality out of it I should have.

Great Product!

Pros

Submittal and RFI modules make it very easy to upload and track the information.

Cons

I do not have the ability to select multiple people from contacts to send out a mass email. I also do not have the ability to notify individuals on a project when an urgent document (such as an addendum) is uploaded or changed.

Not quite there yet

Not great for project management documentation/site supervision. Its difficult to use and train those who are not familiar with computers to use. If you don't know the right tricks it just doesn't work.

Pros

Viewpoint for Projects has good layout and organizing functions. A lot of options available for security of various files and documentation processes.

Cons

It is very cumbersome, difficult to up load and view files. No thumbnail options for viewing pictures make it difficult to preview photos before selecting them to add comments to etc. The internet link is always slow, creating issues with their desktop app and opening and saving files. Also not compatible with AutoCAD or current design software. Not practical for construction documentation management.

Good only if you have another software that can help with time track/reporting for field employees

Pros

easy of printing checks, enrolling employees and pushing it into payroll or Hr module easily.Ease of use and integration between modules and with other applications. We use several other products that we import from and export to.

Cons

current reports leave out a lot of necessary data, crystal reports not customized.Lack of strong financial statement writer. Currently using FRx . . . we know that we need to move, but haven't found anything that is as flexible. We cannot get good cost analyst report on equipment use.

Large learning curve.

Pros

Very precise and good financially. Drill down reports are extremely beneficial. It is super helpful to tract costs and collaborates well with heavy bid.

Cons

Not user friendly at all and needs what seems to be a good amount of work in order to create good, clean, and professional looking documents for businesses.

Accounting Is EASIER

Pros

It's very efficient to use. It streamlines the business process.

Cons

It's difficult to learn. It's not like Quickbooks, where you're sort of guided through steps.
If you don't know exactly what outcome you're looking for, it's very easy to get confused.

Pros

Great features, supports collaboration, ideal for construction industries. I would definitely use it in my projects.

Cons

Lots of option available in the competitive software market. Without brand marketing, I am not sure if this product would stand out.
