BrightPay is an on-premise payroll solution built for small businesses in Ireland and the United Kingdom. Features include flexible payment schedules, customisable additions and deductions and automated HMRC payments, among others.

The BrightPay user interface makes payroll simple by giving visual priority to common payroll tasks, such as finalizing and exporting payslips, and showing or hiding various features depending on their relevancy to the user. The platform also scales so users can run unlimited payments, additions and deductions for an unlimited number of employees. BrightPay’s flexibility also allows users to run multiple payment schedules at the same time.

Full support for qualifying pension schemes from the National Employment Savings Trust (NEST), NOW:Pensions, The People’s Pension and Scottish Widows is available in BrightPay. Once pension schemes are set up, employees can automatically enroll. Users can also process opt-out requests and issue contribution refunds.

BrightPay is compatible with any Windows computer and full HMRC recognition ensures calculations are completely accurate.

This software has many aspects likes covers payroll including other expenses and benefits. It’s a nice and modern user platform, simple and easy to use. It’s also excellent value for money.

Cons

Suggesting if it’s possible to attached any othe documents to the employees for able to easily search their COE and other letters needed.

General Overview of my experience with BrightPay

Lovely interface, very easy to navigate, much better than any other system I've used. It's great value for money too.

Cons

With the exception of one of the rep who helped me with migration, the customer service is appalling. I have only had to contact BrightPay support a few times as the problems have been minimal, but I dread the time when I need to because the conversations are always difficult and the staff are often downright rude. Today I asked if there was a way of updating a certain field across all employees and was told that it needs to be done individually. As I have over 1,000 staff I questioned this and asked if there was a better way since it will be very time consuming. I was told "if there was a better way I would have suggested it". So rude. I find it's better to communicate by email where possible although this can also be challenging depending on who responds.

Literally I cannot see any drawbacks - this is amazing software which makes run accounts/ payroll /CIS so easy.

I've tried a lot of payroll software and bright pay has the easiest software to navigate its a user friendly and covers almost all of the payroll concerns

Cons

what I wish brightpay must have is the capacity to trace back or correct some input of records foe example some alteration may have done but it is hard to trace back the records.

This payroll software has made it so easy for myself and co-workers to report our time clocks. If someone forgets to clock in it is easy to fix on either end and we’ve never had a bad experience with their customer support.

Cons

I have no cons at all! If we have ever had a problem, which is rare, their customer support team answers and helps us work through it.

This software is very user friendly and doesn't require much effort to learn how to use the different functions. The price is very affordable and works well for our small business.

Cons

I wish they have better customer support. And also it is not very compatible with Mac machines. But this is not an major issue for us since we have windows too.

Excellent package always room for process improvement.

Pros

Bright and clear screen to see steps required, Bright and easy to use, Bright and quick snapshot backup, easy to understand payslips, and general journals.

Cons

Wiggly worm on allocation of time spent on jobs. Difficult to get it to do what you want, and keep the others you have entered in place. I suggest boxes to type in % of time on job, or hours on job.

I have never been so impressed before by a POS system, especially the thought put into employee care as well as making it easier for employers to organize their workforce’s savings, pensions, benefits etc.
Very HR friendly.

Cons

My only issue was that I am a US business and I believe this is meant more for UK businesses. It was very compatible with windows and not so much for macs.

Pros

Easy to use and to understand interface provides feature rich control for our worker payroll accounts.
Additions and deductions for multiple departments are an extremely useful feature as well.
Where the windows for software use in OS are concerned we love the automatic resizing feature which makes our job much easier.

Cons

The list of negatives for Brightpay is admittedly low , however we must mention that given the time zone difference and some accented language
that customer service interactions can be a bit difficult but not unbearable.
Also, a new software download is required each new tax season.

Very good value for money, not complicated at all.

Pros

Very easy to use, much easier than Sage payroll. Had the free version before and even the support then was second to none. You write an email and in less than a day they get back to you whether you’re a paying customer or using the software for free.
You see straight away when you have to submit to HMRC which is for me the most important part as I don’t want to pay a fine. CIS is very easy to do. I’m in my third tear with BrightPay and never had a fault in the software whereas with sage it happens frequently.

Cons

There is nothing I don’t like, the least I would say that you have to download a new version with every tax year and not just an update.

I've used this software over two years and while parts of it are clunky, I love the annual updates and ways they continually change the platform to make it user friendly. It really feels like they listen to customer suggestions and make changes. Our employees love the self-serve model whereby they can access all their pay information on their own without going to HR.

Cons

User customization could use some upgrades. I'd like to be able to change the formatting and most-used columns and set up my dashboard more to my liking. This doesn't mean the software is not usable, it's just a bit clunky and means I do not work as quickly as I'd like.

Cons

The only issue we have come across as the delay between scheduling and payout for staff. We feel that this time could be quicker in processing.

Cons

Can customize and design different features, apps, taps, fields and forms. Providing a customizable platform, this can be mutated whenever the need arises. Responsive website can detect and respond to device need as required, which means flexibility of mobile platforms is available and will provide ease to mobile operators.

Cons

Customers can be allowed to view tickets related to their sites, and view the status of resolution of their tickets. This will discourage the customers to directly contact their area managers and wasting their time. Customers can provide feedback and acknowledgment of their tickets.

Great software and functionality. Very feature rich as well as being easy to use. Good value for money and the support is efficient and thorough, both telephone customer service and support bank of self-help tools.

Pros

The auto-enrolment functionality is a dream, making light of the entire process from identifying staging dates, right through to generating enrolment letters for staff.
The user interface is simple yet detailed and easy to navigate and customise.

Cons

I have been caught out a few times by alterations to the pay of an employee in one month/pay period which do not automatically revert to the stated basic pay the following month. It would be better if it did automatically revert or the system prompted you to choose how many periods/months should reflect that change.
