Workable is a standalone applicant tracking system that helps users find and hire the right people. The program replaces email and spreadsheets with a simple way of advertising jobs, receiving applications, filtering them, setting up interviews and making great hires.

Workable is a Web-based system with an intuitive design so users do not need a consultant or hours on the phone to get started. They can get up and running within 15 minutes, and nothing needs to be installed. Since the hiring begins by spreading the word about the position, the program provides advanced job listing tools that publish one submission across a host of the most popular job boards from a single screen.

Once applications start rolling in, Workable allows users to keep track of possible hires and important data. With no data entry required, the system automatically compiles applicants' resumes and social media accounts and presents them in complete applicant profiles, including pictures to help users remember applicants in every stage of the hiring process. Email notifications are also sent whenever users receive new applicants, so users can see where each potential hire falls within the pipeline. From there, the process for browsing, screening and interviewing applicants is streamlined within one cohesive program.

Lots of information when they change features or update.
Easy to view and move candidates around.
Email updates daily so you are able to see who has applied and for what roles without the need to log on.

Cons

The emails can often end up in the junk folder - this may be because of our domain and not workable.
During a launch of a new item and the webinar attached to the launch sometimes they are premium products but you are a not premium user, it can take while to find this out. Can be frustrating.

Excellent product all-round, I have used several ATS in my life, but never has one been so user-friendly and functional as Workable. I don't need to instruct new users when I add them, it's so simple.

Cons

There is a big focus on them releasing new features which is great, but these are big-win features that will attract more customers, also great, but it's not very often that there are features that improve the existing product and benefit existing clients.

I would strongly recommend it is easy to share infromation about the progress with Managers and the Dashboard gives a really quick and useful overview of what is it going on.

Pros

It is exactly what you need for recruitment! I have tried many of them and this is the one I find more useful.
Really easy to set up and integrate with Indeed Assessments, also good analytics feature where you can see which pages have been more effective, etc.

Cons

The cherry on the top would be for this to integrate with our other HR programs, such as Gusto and Zenefits.

Workable is extremely easy to use. The features built in are very self explanatory and the job boards are top notch.

Cons

Everything seems to be coming at a price now. Workable started off as one of the most truly affordable ATS systems. They have not always been the first ATS to the table when introducing new functionality, but they seem to do a good job with it. However, they have been taking away portions of the product that were initially available, which comes off as greedy. Customer service is incredibly inflexible at times, which is quite frustrating for a company that has been with them for so long.

This is the perfect ATS and highly recommended as a great jumping off point into the world of recruiting and hiring software.

Pros

If you don't have any system in place to review and track applicants, Workable is a great program to get started. There's practically no learning curve and even the most computer illiterate people in my office have been able to pick up the program right away. It has a great design and user interface.

Cons

Workable is a great first step into recruiting and hiring software, but for a business looking for more advanced features and uses, I would not recommend Workable. It's not very customizable and can be limited in its scope.

Used this system while consulting a company on hiring. The software was fairly intuitive, but was not really my preference. Lineup seemed correct for the pricing and the team was friendly enough.

Cons

It's a great tool for the hiring process of companies who have to fill-in multiple positions and want to attract a large pool to be able to get the best candidates for the positions open. You can post jobs on multiple job boards easily which includes some of the big job boards as well. It's an effortless way to manage candidate database for each job. With the resume parsing and background screening, it helps choose prospects without the tedious activity of going through the resumes one by one as it filters out resumes according to your parameters. Easily track prospects and schedule interviews.

Cons

There are some setbacks when compared with pricier and bigger ATS. However, for the price, it covers the basics well.

Big fan. These folks got their product right. Highly recommend, especially for small teams with limited time to devote to the recruiting process. Totally streamlines everything!

Pros

I've been involved in hiring for over a decade and have never found as great a tool as Workable! You can do just about everything through its interface: search, view resumes and screening questions, outreach, set appointments that sync with my calendar, compare candidates, share candidates, rate and comment on candidates (great for teams), easily follow candidates through their path to hiring, buy advertising with all the major job portals. This is everything I need to make hiring a snap!

Cons

I really only have 2 comments regarding ways to improve:
1) When printing resumes, allow them to maintain their original formatting submitted by the candidate
2) Integrate a feature like Assistant.to for scheduling so that I can give candidates several different time slots to choose from that automatically sync to my calendar

It's a good company and a good platform that is easy to use. If you are looking for a more cost effective option and are okay with losing some of the features you would get with a bigger ATS, Workable is a good choice. They do focus on rolling out new features and I am excited to see what happens next with them.

Pros

Very easy to use system, and the interfaces are intuitive for admins, users, and applicants. Each job goes out to 12 free job boards and candidates find it very easy to apply. Also allows candidates to apply with LinkedIn. Tracking of candidates through each job process is very easy with the "Bins" that peoples can flow through. Email templates, interview templates help keep the process simple and effective. Workable allows for each integration with HRIS, screening tools, and other interfaces.

Cons

Not much customization available depending on the price point you are willing to pay. More of an out-of-box software and does not allow the flexibility you would see with some other bigger ATS's. Some features you

Clean Design / Terrible Company

I started a trial to find out how Workable could benefit our business and needless to say, I was unable to complete the Trial because I was asked to provide a Utility Bill or "Other business documentation" that includes my business address.

Upon providing Paychex Invoices and Employment Tax Forms (sent directly from the state) that they ("Workable") will not be able to approve my job postings based on their guidelines and that this was their final decision.

It seemed like Workable would have been a great choice if you can get past the verification process. Below is the email I was sent.

"
Hello Joey,

We have passed this business documentation to our technical team for review. They have come back to us and based on the information provided, they will not be able to approve your postings again based on their guidelines. This is their final decision in regards to the jobs on the account, unfortunately.

In our experience, it is unlikely there are any changes that will bring it within our guidelines for publication. In this case, it would be best to try posting on the job boards directly.

I am sorry I can't be more helpful in this case.

The overall look and feel of the interface is clean and easy to navigate. The pricing seems to be on the fair side.

Cons

Regardless of being a paying customer, you receive terrible customer service. The company cannot be relied on if you run into any troubles with their system, actually reaching someone capable of assisting you is near impossible.

The Workable ATS has the possibility to customize the hiring process for each vacant position and this will make it more flexible than any other ATS without this feature. Also, we can assign each hiring project to different members of the recruiter team. Various reports based on mostly important hiring KPIs would be another advantage. Workable also have a chrome extension named "People Search" which is so useful in sourcing candidates from the web.

Cons

"People Search" capability has some problems in gathering updated data from different sources. Moreover, the application form designer has some issues in put some fields mandatory.

Functionality of the product is superb. Many of our hiring managers find it really easy to use. Often times, they don't even need a training on how to use the product.

My favorite feature is the ability to email candidates directly from the software. It's a great way to keep yourself organized especially when you are emailing a dozen candidates. It also allows other hiring managers to see your emails that way they are aware of your progress with the candidate.

Cons

One thing I do not like about Workable is the fact that the hiring stages cannot be customized for each individual role. For example, if one role requires a phone interview and another does not, I cannot remove this phone interview stages for the role that does not require it. The hiring stages are "one size fits all."

They've been generally responsive to feedback and our implementation specialist was great in keeping up with us and answering questions as we ramped up and learned the program.

Pros

Easy to learn, uncluttered, easy to navigate. We have the pro plan so are able to customize it to fit our needs (separate recruiting pipelines, access levels, custom questions etc) which has been really useful for us. No tiered pricing for users like a lot of other ATS, so for a small company it's nice to have every user in there.

Cons

We've had issues with glitches - things not uploading correctly, Gmail conversations don't always sync or populate CC addresses, duplicate candidates, etc
Limiting visibility of reviews has proven difficult.
Don't love the thumbs up/thumbs down feedback system - sometimes we need more flexibility than that.

Overall our experience with workable has been great no issues that have never been resolved. An easy to use software.

Pros

I like how easy it is to use this software, it is extremely easy to teach new users most of the features that they would need to use. Another thing I love about the software is if you ever have a question most of them can be answered by looking in the help section. I use the chat feature a lot when I am having issues and the response is always fast and efficient.

Cons

I wish there was a way to kick back the voluntary EEO forms to our email when individuals fill them out instead of just a report that can be run.

I am happy with it. The things I don't like I send as feedback to the team and they quickly respond. I see minor improvements happening, and that gives me a sense that our voices are being heard.

Pros

It's straight to the point for what I need. I am not a professional recruiter, I am a manager who helps in the recruiting. Workable has a simple interface that makes it easy to understand how the platform works since the first use.

Cons

I still feel very anxious before commenting (internally) on a thread, or sending an email to the candidate. The CTAs are so close that I always fear I may make a mistake by sending an internal comment to a candidate.

I like the "all in one place" feeling and comments section. This was a new product to me and I found it usable, easy to learn and intuitive enough.

What I didn't like is delays in email notifications to my email when a new candidate or comments arrive. Somehow after I receive an email that a new candidate has applied, I go to the system and find out that this happened 6-8-12 hours before...

You can create a job listing with the specs you need and even include a quiz/test for the applicants. This helps a lot in sorting out people that don't fit the role at all. The process of stages is also very easy to use and allows collaboration of different people that contribute in evaluation processes.

Cons

There are some options and menus that you might get overwhelmed or even miss a few applicants. My recommendation is to get to know the platform and check your listings and your applicants (these are considered as 2 different things as I've seen a few times).

Like any job posting, this can be hit or miss if you are using the lowest priced version. It has been helpful in finding quality candidates

Pros

I love that the postings are automatically plugged into multiple sites. The interface is convenient in that you can see where it's being looked at and sign up for a more thorough posting through Workable at different sites if needed. The data collection and posting gathered from the site (resume, letters, etc.) is helpful and well organized.

Cons

Costs can add up when posting online. You have the Workable fee and the additional fees for other sites can be pricey. I do wish there was a discount of some sort.

Pros

This software has allowed us to connect with multiple employees around the world. The tool allows you to keep control from the beginning of the application process up to the hiring stage, the connectivity with other apps is seamless. We've synced our hiring process with BambooHR and we are happy about it.

Cons

If a potential employee gets rejected once we have to delete the info before they can re-apply, this is a hassle as we can't store previous information or feedback from their first application.

Whatever advertisement you post, gets automatically posted in free job sites and you get more reach and this feature is available in both free and paid versions. The application is very cost effective. A clean and intuitive interface is provided. It is one of simplest applicant tracking system. The pipeline feature is very much customizable. You are provided with a people search google chrome extension which reduces time consumption. There is this on and off mode, as payment is concerned, you need to only pay for the time you use the application. The applicants can also apply via linked in. the application provides a lot of integrations including HRIS and other screening tools. The available email and interview templates help in simplifying the process and reduces the time lag. The interfaces are easy to use for both the users as well as the applicants. Very responsive customer service and support system.

Cons

The Application is a little pricey for small firms even though the features are well suited for startups.

Having the process of recruitment from advertising to hiring so organized and easy was a life changer to a company like mine that has a big employee turnover once we work with Fixed Term contract and projects that are always changing.

Pros

This is the best solution I have ever seen to organize the OVERLOAD of CVs and job applications. It makes the process easier, from job posting to the pipeline of gathering the CVs and profiles all in one place, to send it to hiring screening team to interview and hired. Besides this it helps you with quite usefull tool like mass rejection, templates of leters that is intelligent and fill the gaps with the candidate information.

Cons

It's a bit scary and tricky at the begning, but it's quite intuitive and user friendly. I can't think in a super CON, probably only the fact of me not being that senior in using it I can afirm that takes a bit to get used to it.

Quick hiring process, time saving, useful insights and tools, flexible, enhancing communication with full visibility of applicants. Better than alternatives since the job posting from different well-know websites. As a free of service, I was completely satisfied with the result that Workable contributed to my team.

Pros

First of all, for the startups who have really limited budget, Workable has a free plan, exactly what a startup needs. You can punlish up to 5 positions which is adequate for a small size company.

Secondly, the integrarion with indeed.com and glassdoor is boosting the number of applicants and increase your visibility even if you are a small company has no budget for promoting jobs.

As last, the employee acquisition funnel that they created is really helpful and communicating with your team member about different applicants helps and saves time a lot.

Cons

Even if I really like this tool there are some points that O did bot find user friensly in terms of interface and experience.

The acquisition funnel should be easy and obvious in terms of interface. While passing between different profiles, sometimes you feel lost.

Searching different profiles, you do not easily understand in what stage of specific person. Also, qualifying, rejecting options are sometimes leading to wromg actions due to the layout of buttons and interactions.

Pros

Workable allows us to keep track of all of our job postings and all of the candidates who applies for a position at the company. We have them do assessments, upload their resume, submit links and much more. You can take your candidates through different steps like reviewing CV and phone screening. It has a nice clean and simple format.

Cons

They can improve on the visuals of the software, make it a bit more easy on the eyes or maybe allowing us to personalize the background a bit.
