DonorPerfect is a fundraising solution suitable for all nonprofits. It helps users manage donations, contacts, receipting, reporting, email and fundraising initiatives from a single system.

Dashboard analytics and reporting provide insight into what drives donations, and organizations can send personalized email communications through Constant Contact to donors and supporters. Cons

Sometimes the updates or changes made to the system negatively affect the way I currently utilize the system. There is no way to opt out of these upgrades. Also, the dash board is a great resource but takes to long to load.

Have had a lot of problems getting this up and running... lots of them. The data transfer was only supposed to take a few days... two months later we finally get it done by them.

Pros

It is mostly functional as a database. The promos make it look easy and they seem eager to help, when they know what they are talking about.

Cons

Lots of quirks, not really user friendly and a steep learning curve for all of the quirks. The support staff know the basics, but if you have a real problem, then it can take weeks to find someone who knows how to fix it.

I like the fact that I can track "in kind" donors and have the ability to acknowledge their gifts. That's important to us!

Pros

We are a small nonprofit and ready to make the leap from Excel spreadsheets to a CRM. I have spent weeks reviewing 5 different systems and have selected Donor Perfect for its value, functionality and fit for our organization. I didn't spend this much time comparing and contrasting features when I bought my home!

Cons

I wish it was a little less expensive, but there does appear to be value for the cost of the software.

It is a great way to keep track of donors, create mailing lists, and track donations. I also love that you can customize it to track exactly what you would like.

Cons

Using the filters to create mailings lists can be very confusing. You have to be very precise and use many filters or else you won't get what you want. I wish there was a more user friendly way to create mailing lists.

Your Accounting Department will Hate You

It looks pretty and they have sales people. The sales people will come out and sell the development people on this, and then they will have some person come out and charge you a whole bunch to convert your system. At that point, they will delete all your years and years of prospecting data points. If you have patrons (ie ticket buyers), each of them will now cost you in the database. It is a terrible terrible system. The single worst in terms of cost to benefit ratio. It's a lemon.

Cons

The system creates a "mexican standoff" when integrating with software solutions partners, such as Agile Ticketing solutions. Nobody will take responsiblity for the fact that they did not think about how the system is supposed to integrate for the mission-critical accounting function. They will not call the accountants into the room, and they never created a manual. They say it is supposed to integrate. It does not. The first option on their phone tree is "if you have reconciliation issues." Duh. That's an emergency because after rolling out their product, they didn't think about reconciliation functions.

I highly recommend DonorPerfect Online as a mission-critical application we could not operate without. It's a great value for what we get.

Pros

DonorPerfect Online is a robust, scalable, flexible, and very stable application, and continues to be improved over time. It does everything we need and quite a bit more. It allows us to rapidly deploy customized donation portals. Up time is nearly 100%. Support personnel are prompt, courteous, and knowledgeable.

Cons

As with any web-based product (versus a native app), certain functions are a bit more limited, such as being unable to sort report columns by clicking on them. Not a huge deal, just a few minor annoyances as with any product.

We used this system in conjunction with our donor software. We used the fundraising software for our first major gala last year. It was simple to set up, people who were buying tickets didn't have any issues and I like the new text donation option.

Cons

Unless you pay for customer service help you only get online chat and sometimes it is not always easy to type your issues.

Ease of navigation. Can merge accounts easily. Really enjoy the daily notifications of who's monthly payment processed and if there was a failed payment. I also really enjoy the app.

Cons

I like to leave note from my interactions with donors and it can be a little cumbersome to get to. It can also be confusing where to leave the notes, considering you have multiple areas. So for someone who is newer to this product, finding them can be difficult.

I also have to do a lot of work when someone's cc has been declined. I've heard that they do not receive a notification about it, so I need to look into that feature and see if there is something I've not set up, or if DP doesn't send an email to the donor.

I have worked this software for over 10 years beginning with the installed version and moving to the online. It's a great software and as with any software there are small hiccups, but they constantly come out with updates and solutions to the issues.

Pros

DonorPerfect is a great software, that offers amazing reporting capabilities. The ability to export into Excel, Word or pdf and scheduling of reports and the SmartActions feature to set up automatic alerts i.e., to the director with the name and phone number of a top donor so he can call and thank them; or to schedule a report to go out to those on a daily, weekly or monthly basis is great especially if you are on vacation. They also have a great online Suggest & Vote forum where you can input ideas on new features and if selected they will become a part of the system; they listen and help provide solutions.

Cons

The formatting of the reports are a bit wonky when exported but you find a way to work through it because all the information is there.

This system is what I know and favor.

Pros

DonorPerfect is the only software I have used since venturing into the fundraising arena. We moved to the cloud version years ago and it was a great improvement over the desktop version. It is user-friendly for the most part and continues to add to its available options. My problem is finding the time to take advantage of all the options. While I have looked into other companies over the years, no other platform has made me feel that they can beat what I have with DonorPerfect.

Cons

I still hit some bumps in the road when trying to create new reports. But I think this is more from lack of available time for me than the system.

Pros

DonorPerfect was designed with the user in mind, so it is quick to learn the program. It is very easy to input information and look up what you need to know when running reports or reviewing a specific donor's history. I love how it tracks volunteer hours and activities, and lets users log detailed information about volunteers. The community forum is great for additional ideas and tips.

Cons

I wish the "Save" button were bigger! It would also be nice to have more limiting capability in users, so that certain volunteers could access certain donors or certain pieces of information about those donors.

I did a lot of research of databases before settling on this one. It was a great find in that it can manage the data well, make it accessible in reports, and the cost is very competitive. It is flexible and fits our needs well. And the support is fantastic! The training videos, the knowledge base, and the chat and phone support is all very helpful. The people I have worked with were very kind and knowledgeable. It has been a great experience all around.

Pros

This is one of the most comprehensive software programs I could find. And the price was great. I appreciate the flexibility of the program, the ability to add/hide fields, set up the form the way I want it, and I especially appreciate how easy it was to set up on-line giving. What had been overwhelming before was accomplished quickly and effectively. The training videos, knowledge base, and support made it so easy to learn new things and use the database well. The reports are easy to use and very useful.

Cons

There is not much to not like about this software. I did run into a small issue with duplicate entry from on-line giving when the use used West instead of W or vice versa. If the address is not exact, it doesn't pick it up.

Overall I think the product and the company are excellent. They are constantly going through process improvement to make Donor Perfect the best it can be so their customers can be the best they can be.

Pros

I like how comprehensive it is. I like that you can run reports on any field which allows you to look at data from many perspectives.
More than just the software, I love the donor perfect employees. They are always friendly, knowledgeable and willing to help. Since I am a slow learner.

I wish that it were slightly more user friendly and that they offered more local training options face to face.

Donor Perfect gives us everything we need as a medium sized nonprofit. We are easily able to track all gifts, and the integration with QuickBooks is a real timesaver!

It is very customizable within the records and screens. Events management needs better integration and ease of use. It is time consuming to enter gifts through the EM screen. It is also difficult to export information through EM for the event.

Pros

It is very user friendly. Making changes and running reports is pretty easy. No coding required.

Cons

Sometimes filters are a bit difficult to set up correctly without assistance. The need to export to excel to manipulate it cumbersome it would be nice to have the ability to set up the templates with a certain look we need and sorted appropriately.

As a new client, there is an adjustment period after converting and while the system is pretty user friendly, it takes time and practice to learn how to use it. The online support, however, is always quick to respond and very helpful when walking you through a process.

Cons

The biggest challenge is the reporting structure. Raiser’s Edge, our former system, had a simpler way to create and pull reports.

Coming from a scattering of Excel spreadsheets, DPO integrated all of our needs in one central location.
