This is an issue trackings tool.thi software helps to manage issue in an efficient manner. It allows you to create sprints, issues add estimations assign issue and start working on them. We can also use Jira to track the project documentation. You can create various types of issues like improvements, bugs, epic, story, tasks, sub tasks etc. We can add comments as per the changing requirements on the issue and add worklog to track the total time required to complete the issue. We can use the Jira workflow to manage the issue in each phase of the software development life cycle.

Pros

Easy to use.
It is fimilar across the boundries.
We can integrate the third party tools like hipchat.

Cons

It is slightly costly to use for the small scale project. There is no proper impormation about each module in the software for example help tips.

Pros

It helps me complete my everyday tasks, enabling a great team environment and to keep track of our tasks. It will help you get track of your monthly or even yearly work and when it comes to produce your annual report all information will be there for you to use it.

Cons

When you start using it, you will not want to go back to more traditional methods such as using a white board with paper. Sometimes you need to implement some small features to create integrations with your company software and the API even tough it's huge, it misses in some flexibility here and there.

It is a great tool for dev teams and it facilitates the communication between marketers and developers. We report problems, bugs, and necessities. They respond to our needs in a constant and structured manner by periodically releasing new improvements.

Pros

Jira facilitates the management of software and application development activities.

It is easy to report issues, bugs or other tasks adding them into the application backlog. Each report can be sort according to its priority and can be easily added to a specific sprint together with other tasks. Reports may be assigned to specific users and have specific status to be updated during the development work.

Each variations is notified by emails to make teamwork really effective.

According to the reports collected into Jira, dev teams may properly organize their work to release constantly and effective new features. Every sprint and version can be analyzed to control the development progresses.

Jira offers the possibility to manage multiple tasks under one single project.

There are specific sections, views, and filters which help you find the info and reports you need. You can check and compare the performances among different users.

Cons

You can’t assign a task to multiple users, only subtasks. It is not so easy to find information regarding mentions and comments related to single users except checking your emails.

Cons

The usability and the learning curve for JIRA is a big downer for me and my team. Although it is going under a redesign process, I feel that they should be thinking through the UX of the platform once again.

I was a technical support professional that would link Salesforce records to Jira tickets. It was clear to see data on the bug view, however going past that view to try and search stories/epics felt overwhelming.

Pros

* Easy to push data from SFDC into Jira

Cons

* The UI is extremely outdated, you can tell the software released in 2002
* It is very difficult to find how to do anything in there

Currently, my organization is moving from waterfall model to Agile model (hybrid), JIRA has helped a lot to standardize the reporting of granular project details to be reported as a consolidated approach as to how the sprints within a project are moving forward.

JIRA has given the transparent view of how the projects/sprints for a product is moving forward and managing the interdependencies within a project.

Pros

- Manage multiple projects under one project in JIRA and works well for a complete program
- Email notification when any changes made in JIRA makes collaboration efficient
- JIRA board (Scrum Board) in JIRA and defining specific project JQL to filter the issues in JIRA makes it more user friendly for scrum masters who are managing multiple scrum teams in a program
- Automated dashboard creation and ability to create different charts makes it very easy for showing management rpeorting on different scrum teams progress in a sprint
- Sprint and version reports (out of the box) which provides burn down charts and which issues are lying in one state for more than a specific period of time helps scrum team to move forward and resolves impending issues
- Ability to link issues for dependency and flexibility to define SDLC life cycle for an issue on a board makes it very handy on any type of project

Cons

- No single view is available to see clearly how dependencies are moving forward
- There are times when single issue has to be given to multiple people like in pair programming one way is to create sub task but that is not an approach that was liked by scrum teams
- There macros / gadgets that comes with the JIRA product are very minimum they should add more gadgest for reporting purpose.
- Yes, there are different third party gadgets but sometimes those are not JIRA / atlassian recognized and for enterprise application and corporates using JIRA does not go ahead to deploy those third part gadgets on the server model.

I use JIRA for work and find that it has some sting points but does require more training and time to pick up things. It also requires a lot more configuration than other project management software out there, so if you're looking to start, you'll definitely want to spend the time and money on some training for it.

Pros

- Templates for different styles of project management
- Sprint planning is easy
- Easy to see what is happening in a project's sprint
- Easy to maintain a backlog
- Easy to report bugs and create new issues

Cons

- More complex than other project management solutions

- Too much configuration

I'm creating projects, measuring performance, tracking billable hours, closely following project execution, and controlling deviations from the planned project.
Mostly, I'm able to track my hours and the hours of my team.

Pros

It allows you to create projects, account for billable and non-billable hours, see who did what and when. Jira allows project managers to create projects, their backlogs, and Kanban boards. You can move tasks through all phases of a project, from Backlog to Done, set as Ongoing, duplicate them, attach files to them.

You can see tasks in retrospective to check how the work was actually performed and find deviations, among other features.

Cons

As with any tool that is useful and complete, it is complex. It takes time and dedication to learn all that has to be learned about Jira. I do project management of a limited complexity and have had to do the full walk around of the tool to be able to feel comfortable using it. I have been using it for over 6 months now and I feel fully confident that I can find everything I need to find.

One thing that could definitely be improved is that task cards do not allow to create checklists, which I find to be very useful. On the other hand, each card has a content field that allows you to create lists (numbered or bulleted), as you would do in Word. This is my workaround solution to checklists.

JIRA has a ton of integration features, giving you the ability to have things like GitHub tied directly into your projects and allowing you to track issue progress from a singular tool.

Cons

We initially hosted JIRA on our own servers, but the Rails stack that it was built upon was burdensome to maintain. When we went to the hosted option, we thought the responsiveness of the software left a little to be desired.

It makes the management of software development process very easy. It has got features to meet the requirements of any kind of project weather it is based on agile model or some other software development life cycle model. Cons

It can be difficult to use for a newbie software developer, but after sometime you will find it very easy.
