Hippo CMMS is a web-based maintenance management system with CMMS features that suit a variety of industry needs, from manufacturing and healthcare to hospitality and education.

Hippo CMMS offers a graphical view of maintenance operations via Hippo Advanced Dash. Organizations can customize their account, import floor plans and drawings, and visually manage their assets and equipment. Hippo Standard Dash offers clients a data-driven list to view maintenance information while the Hippo Calendar Dash allows for optimized workflow and resource planning.

Hippo offers work order management and preventive maintenance tools for effective work order tracking and submitting. The asset and equipment management tool houses all corresponding information, including ID tags and documents, in one centralized system. The Hippo mobile app allows technicians to update and close out work orders on the go while Hippo Reports uses custom filters to generate relevant data.

This program has been very easy for our tenants to use. They learned very quickly and it has allowed us to easily receive work orders. However, the lack of a mobile app is a big deal. There should be a mobile app so that maintenance can easily work on the orders. Hopefully, this is something that we will see in the future.

Pros

As someone who runs an apartment complex, it’s important to be able to receive work requests as soon as possible. This allows tenants to submit a work order and see the progress of the request. It was easy to teach my employees to use, and just as easy to show tenants how to submit their work order. We also like having it web-based, even though it supports almost every computer operating system.

Cons

The only con that we could find was the lack of a mobile app. This is a rather important con. Having a mobile app would allow our maintenance workers to see work orders as they are put in, meaning they could seamlessly go from one issue to the next. As of now, they have to come back to the office once they are finished and then go back out. A mobile app would save time.

Hippo allows tenants to submit their maintenance request/needs for their spaces. I have used it in a commercial type of building so we have tenants that can request light changes, plumbing help, etc. Once they submit the request we can then dispatch a maintenance person to the job and once they have completed it they will update the system and the tenant will get the notification and can check progress from there anyway.

Cons

Because tenants can see the progress updates, if there is a delay in getting their problem addressed because there are no maintenance people available then they can see it and might call to ask what's going on. I like to send them a message myself and let them know that it is being worked on.

I think the price is very good for the system and if you want to keep you life simple with out much confusion then this is the best program for a small business or a beginning business.

Pros

This was a very easy to use and simple product, it was able to provide all of the qualities of a program that I was looking for in a beginning scale. It was easy to learn to use and encompassed most of the what our company was looking for in a program like this.

Cons

There were some restrictions in the sense of what we needed. We have over 50 properties and over 200 tenants and there were some functions that did not separate the properties as needed.

The best thing about Hippo is that is partnered with and architechural firm and will with coordinate them to create an asset management map of your facility.

Cons

There are limited options though. Color coding priority of management is not available, nor is their a list of immediate concerns.

User interface is easy, plus having this being a web based program really frees up server space. Support staff is knowledgeable and quick to respond.

Cons

Web based program is also its biggest fault, as you have no control over outages. There are VERY few, but they do occur. Don't let this scare you off, this CMMS is powerful and basic.

easy to create a work request and have it process through the system. Data entry is very easy to use and the templates are in an excel format

Cons

Nothing as of yet, the functions are what I expected during the sales evolution. Training should be readily available to focus on different platforms, location template and scheduled maintenance templates

When your in the know Hippo is the way to go

Over all getting started with Hippo has had its bumps in the road, learning the system, as with any new process. The people I have worked with have been great and very responsive. The answers for your questions are there, in the software, settings, and in the how to's, as well as the help you receive from the personnel. As of this review we have had the system for around 4 months, still knowing, we have more to learn. But our system is up and running and people are using the system, which has been a great help, in capturing requests, that use to be mentioned in conversations, and forgotten about. Along with being able to track equipment and request histories. We can already see the benefit in going to this system.

Pros

Once you have All your data input into the system, it is a great way to manage service requests. For the general user, to input a request, teaching the information only takes minutes. Reoccurring work orders, can be setup from templates you can customize to your facilities. Searching the status of work requests, can be done by the clicking of a few boxes. The people I have worked with through the on boarding process have been great. Very quick to answer questions. And eager to get you setup and customized for your situation.

Cons

Starting from scratch there is a lot of data input, but to be fair that would be the case using any CMMS software. Learning the terminology of the system, takes a little getting use to. There is no app, as of 10/17, so for mobile it is a web page. The mobile and desktop views are different, and take a little getting use to.

We wanted a work order system at a reasonable price and found this software does the job well. Just wish we could have an application where everything can take place there as opposed to checking emails then logging in via a browser. Also instead of emails I would prefer a text message letting me know to check the site.

Pros

Value, the easy tenant/requester interface, inventory tracking, work order system. Tenants have said they liked it so far.

Cons

No phone or tablet app, notifications sent via email. I don't like that everything needs to be done through the browser, makes it more cumbersome.

I really like the work order system. It is an excellent system for tracking and running reports. We are still in the infancy stage, so we still have a lot of information to implement. I can not say enough good things about tech support. They are extremely knowledgable and very quick to respond. They are very patient when training and really want to see us succeed. I could not be happier about the support they have provided.

I like that I am able to schedule all of my PM;s ahead of time with a variety of different options, and I am able to have all my demand work orders organized.

Cons

I don't like that Work Category is used throughout each facility. We have 5 facilities and if you click on work category for a demand work order its a giant mess since the categories go across all plants even though some categories are not needed at a specific plant. I also don't like how you can't type in a part number or breakdown the search for a part on work order is just work category. I would wish they at least added more categories like part type or location drop boxes to find parts if we won't be able to type in the part number or name at all to find it on the work order screen.

After much research, I stumbled onto Hippo CMMS and decided it had all the features we needed at our organization at the right cost to meet our budget. Moving forward a year later, this software is now a crucial key to our success. The database is well organized and easy to configure to your establishment's needs and Hippo has a friendly customer support team that is extremely helpful when you run into any questions or concerns with a rapid response time. They are also releasing updates frequently increasing the functionality of software with each release. Our facility maintenance team have increased their efficiency and management staff are pleased that their requests no longer feel forgotten about or unimportant. I am looking forward to this next year and future years with Hippo and highly recommend this product to any business that is seeking a way to become more organized, efficient, and insightful.

We are just getting started with HIPPO CMMS. We are in the process of going live. So far, we are pleased with the system. We are a small manufacturing plant and are migrating from a manual, calendar based system with a limited number of users. It appears that this will fill our needs once we get up to speed on using it and fully roll it out. It provides a capability that we were sorely lacking in this area.

Pros

It has automated a number of manual steps and will save time on the administration end of issuing and retrieving work orders. It has a capability that we look forward to taking advantage of as we fully build and utilize the features of the software.

Something simple they didn't have to add in is the moving hippo loading screen. For some reason that makes me happy. It is really easy to use this software and I love how many people you can have using it at the same time. We use this for a college and it makes it so much easier for everyone to go through this than other programs that have been used.

Hippo CMMS does a great job at tracking everything one would need for maintenance on any facility. From when things are due for maintenance to what is needed for the maintenance due, Hippo allows you to log it all.

Cons

Navigation is a bit confusing at first. Trying to locate where everything is, from equipment to location, can be tricky until you're used to Hippo's layout.

I like that you can limit the access a user has. This is our main form of communicating any issues that may arise within the facility and with so many users a work order can easily get closed or rejected so it's nice to limit what they have access to. The software is pretty self explanatory.

Cons

I would really like to be able to edit/revise a completed work order. Sometimes a document or amount gets revised after-the-fact and it would be nice to not have to open/associate a new work order.

Overall Hippo FM has been good. Should your update cause us to make such drastic changes next time we will be going out to bid. Not happy with what took place and why would a company with large data bases not make it easy for there customer???? This was not the case when i tried to explain the issue i was told to just change my web browser!!! we have upwards of 200 computers that had to be changed.

easy to use. Other then that it seems almost the same as before.

had to change the entire company's web browser. I was not told that this was the case and we were totally unprepared it took our it dept over two weeks to get to everyone's computer.

I took over a position to maintain an 80 Acre campus that had NO inventory of any tools, equipment, current condition assessment, or any historical data of current Work order requests. I also had no way of creating work order requests or tracking them.

HIPPO has allowed us the opportunity to maintain a working inventory and tracking system for many different items such as equipment, vehicles, Stock items and tools that staff carry, Consumables as well as standard equipment for day to day operating needs. It has helped us tremendously.

Can't beat the price and service for the Return. We are very appreciative.

Pros

This software was easy to implement and set up. It was also easy to get my staff trained on it.
It is comprehensive for all our needs and the HIPPO organization gave us a lot of support and assistance.

Cons

We have many buildings that we do work on, and many different individuals that have access to inputting Work Order requests. Figuring out how to set the system up for that was a bit of a challenge at first, but it was overcome.

Adding labor hrs. to work orders is useful if you want to get metrics on labor costs, time used for each tech and total labor hrs. If this is something that you don't want to record, you can simply enter 0 in the field or not assign to a resource.

We are currently using HIPPO for our maintenance and building team. Our IT department is going to jump on board also and start using the asset part of Hippo. Very pleased with all aspects of HIPPO!

Pros

It is a great deal for the cost and it really does exactly what I need it to. Reports and queries are really easy to generate.

Pros

It is easy to use. Set up can be a bit dicey if you don't know what you are doing. This is essentially a database program, so it is good to have someone with experience help with set up to get the hierarchies done properly

Cons

It is SAAS, so it can be a bit "laggy". The function's don't always cooperate and I close the program frequently for reboot

Overall it has been good experience. I love the system. Its easy to use, for the most part. It has a lot of features. I just get frustrated with the errors and "hiccups" When the hiccup occurs and you loose all your comments/notations for a long detailed description of the issue and fix... that is when I'm not a huge fan of the system. Overall It works very well.

Pros

Its pretty easy to use and intuitive. A plethora of features we have not even explored for use at this time. Easy and automated reporting is great.

Cons

All the hiccups and errors. A lot of minor issues that can be very frustrating and make using the system kind of a pain at times.

Hippo has been a great addition to helping our team keep on top of preventative maintenance, history on equipment, and better tracking system for demands in our facility.

Pros

Ease of use for resources performing work. Keeps history on equipment.

Cons

Not able to extract everything needed from reports that we might need. Using the Extract file comes out in an Excel sheet, but would be nice to see like how the reports are produced. We perform a monthly report for how many demands/PM's were sent in for a specific month, how many of them were completed, hours associated with it as well as previous moths completed in that specific month. I need to flip flop between "Work Order Search" and "Reports" to be able to find all the information we need.
Would like to be able to add more then one photo to "Equipment"'
Would like to be able to find a work order by key words., not just ID number.

when needing light bulbs changed, it only takes a quick email then we do not need to worry about following up on when someone will be out to change them. Communication is easy with this program.
