Great software that I would recommend to any company or individual who has multiple shipping plans.

Pros

I am one of several user of this product in my company. It provides easy integration with our Amazon store, and even has an app for my phone so I can see when orders come in and plan for shipping.

Cons

It's not always intuitive on the desktop application. I'm a relatively new user and still have to learn all of the ins and outs.

After trying just about everything else out there, Shipstation is as close to a perfect solution as you'll find. It helped me save over an hour each day, time that I was then able to spend on actually growing my business. It was a stretch to think of anything I didn't like - which speaks volumes about the software.

Pros

Integration with most major platforms and channels - it communicates back and forth between your Shopify, Amazon, eBay, etc. accounts to mark orders shipped and email the customer.
Discounted shipping labels - The subscription pays for itself with how inexpensive the labels are.
Automated tracking emails - create your own template and look the part of other major e-commerce stores.

Cons

Can get a little confusing when dealing with international shipments but their support team is definitely top notch and can help you sort out the issues quickly.

There's no doubt that ShipStation is built well and has the necessary features to please companies of all sizes. We've found very few problems in our 2-3 years of utilizing the platform and it's the best solution we've found to this point. We would recommend the system to any company looking to expertly manage its shipping operations.

Pros

Our publishing company utilizes ShipStation to handle inventory and shipping management. The system is extremely comprehensive, offering a robust feature set covering orders, shipments, products, customers, and reports. It's easy to set up multiple stores for different aspects of the business in order to keep the silos separate, and alerts draw your eye to the areas that need attention. ShipStation can also be seamlessly integrated with various e-commerce platforms so that orders are ported directly over and into the shipment queue. Once shipped, we enjoy the tracking features that allow our team to check shipment status whenever customers have inquiries. Additionally, there's an insight section that shows how many customers interacted with a their personal tracking pages, how many shipment notifications have gone out in a given time period, and general sales trends.

Cons

The interface isn't the prettiest, but it gets the job done and doesn't suffer from glitches. Occasionally, we have a little bit of trouble locating a specific option because the system has so many features. Perhaps the organization or visibility of some areas could be improved.

Customer Support

Pros

ShipStation is a great option for shipping large quantities of products. The customer support is usually helpful and tries to get you an answer as quickly as possible. The real selling point of ShipStation for me personally, is the integrations and discount during bulk shipping (especially around the holidays).

Cons

ShipStation is only as reliable as the mail. If any other website is down, like USPS for example, ShipStation also tends to have an error.

ShipStation is a great software for anyone who ships products...especially those who sell through multiple sales channels. It integrates with basically all of the online marketplaces and website platforms as well as software such as Sellbrite that help manage inventory and listings on those channels. The automation rules are awesome for routing orders where they need to go without having to hire someone to process paperwork, and automatically populating info onto shipping labels is great.

they support regular usps mail which is useful. splitting orders is possible (but a complete pain to do via their convuluted interface).

Cons

terrible customer support. they do not take ownership of any problem (even when you demonstrate the issue to them via screenshare/screen recording/screenshot), and staggeringly maintain "I can't see any issue here". When they do finally acknowledge an issue (for example incorrectly displaying weights of packages which causes shipping costs to be wrong, and then packages to be rejected by carriers - this actually happened to us) - it disappears into an escalated support team that do not communicate, provide any sort of timeline, and are great at one thing - ignoring you.

As I already mentioned, I love ShipStation. It's really one of my favorite pieces of SaaS. Their customer support is also great. They answer their live chats and emails quickly and always have a solution. Rare, especially for the price of admission.

Pros

The interface in ShipStation V2 is fantastic. As the department manager, I can easily assign orders to my CSR's and use tags to designate anything I want. We use different tags/colors for suppliers, whether we are shipping ourselves or dropshipping, or marking things as HOT! Using the tags to filter, makes it easy to find and sort orders and see what needs to be worked on.

We also use the custom fields for notating PO #'s, which supplier we dropshipped from, and sometimes other important notes.

The interface is so easy on the eyes and the filtering are so good that we use ShipStation instead of ChannelAdvisor to handle our orders.

Another great feature is ShipStation Connect, which allows us to print to anyone's printer, even if they are not on the same network. Fantastic feature, especially, if not everyone has a Zebra printer at their station.

Cons

I wish we could interface with our website. Right now, we're using it with the marketplaces, but our website is on its own, which is unfortunate, because we lose all of that monitoring functionality.

The other con is V3. We tried it. It's very much not ready for prime time. It was buggy. The interface was not as good and the user experience was lacking. What we could do in V2 with a few keystrokes and the Tab key, took several more clicks. We're hoping they fix that up, before forcing the "upgrade."

One problem is that it fails to notify the original store that the order has been shipped unless I manually ask it to make the order as complete. (Otherwise, it sits in my list of orders "awaiting shipment". Sometimes they disappear from the list, then reappear a day or two later. When I manually mark the order as "Complete", it then double counts the shipment. I have a plan that allows 50 shipments per month. So when I reached 25 shipments, it double counted them as 50 shipments and would not allow any further shipments without upgrading to the 500 shipment per month plan (which I don't need and can't afford). There is basically no telephone support from Shipstation and email support is absurdly slow and unhelpful, with each response taking a few days. This is a time-sensitive business so this is really a problem. I asked them for phone support - finally heard back with an offer for phone support 3 days from now during a time when I am not available. So basically I can count on waiting a few more days for the next useless support email.

Pros

I liked the fact that this software synced with online sales through places like Amazon and initially seemed to work pretty well.

Cons

A few months ago, Shipstation released a new version and I have had many problems with it. It simply does not work as advertised. Things that were seamless before no longer work. The fact that they have not fixed these issues after a few months is very frustrating. I would not recommend them any longer for shipping.

Absolutely amazing. It is so easy to use that I was able to easily integrate it across three warehouses plus our corporate headquarters. I had 20 different ecommerce sites across several platforms including Woocommerce, Magento 1, Shopify, Prestashop, Open Cart, Ebay and Amazon Merchant fulfilled. Setting up rules to automate our business was so simple. I can automatically have orders go to the correct warehouses based on rules by skus. We were easily able to customize marketing material for each store on invoices and shipping labels. Love you shipstation.

Pros

Besides everything? The thing I loved the MOST would be how fantastically easily it was to get up and running and integrated with every platform. I looked like a real genius. But it wasn't me, it was the simplicity of the system. Its that easy.

Cons

They had an inventory management portion of the software that I didn't quite understand how to utilize it.

One of the best systems today to manage orders and shipments. A must have for almost any ecommerce business.

Pros

Integrates with almost every marketplace channel. Very fast and reliable system. Allows many functions to manage orders (not just shipping), such as managing returns, leaving feedback, generating sales reports, and inventory management. Support has also been top notch.

Cons

Wish inventory management system was more intuitive and was able to support bundled products/skus.

Pros

First I must say there once was a version of Shipstation that was so bad that I had to flush it. They came back last year with a fresher version: more comprehensive and better features. They now seamlessly integrate with Canada Post and have a clearer user interface which makes it easier to use, but still... It is designed to work and integrate with Shopify.

Cons

It is not my favorite Billing and Shipping app. I still find they need to progress on the user interface and ease of navigation to offer a more appealing user interface. Although improved you still wonder who designed the app. But that goes for a plethora of apps on the market! But for Canadian companies it remains a serious competition to Order Cup.

Although designed to work with Shopify I am finding more and more that all the billing and shipping features I need are already well integrated in SHOPIFY itself for the 79$USD/ month
At this point it depends on the shipment volume of your company and your personal preferences. I find that fully integrated apps are now slowly taking over (the salesforce and the likes...) because of the full integration of the CRM (customer relationship management). Wonder who is going to win the billing and shipping app battle...
