Pros/Cons
Pros
- Various engineering tools for any kind company are offered by ANSYS. It has a great training/help documents with hyperlinks which you can reach easily what you what.
- We can calculate various parameters like stress, safety margin,total deformation and also helps in finding out how good mesh is.
- Being able to integrate existing SolidWorks files seamlessly was a great feature that saved the team a lot of time creating new models.
Cons
- Setting up the boundary conditions takes a lot of planning. This software is over kill for the types of simulations I was doing.
- It crushes during simulations after which you will have to restart all of your work.
- Maybe the cost; I was not a part of that decision but it's hard to give the same functionality to others on the team when licenses cost what they do.
Pros
- I can model parts and do an assembly in the same work space and that is a very nice and effective way of doing stuff. This is a very good software fore beginners to work with.
- Customer service is fantastic and very prompt. They do a very good job of making sure that you are integrating to exactly your needs.
- Fusion 360 is a very good tool to get 3d models done, the interface is easy to understand and straight forward, and you get great value for what the software costs.
Cons
- Coding itself is bad and people with coding background including myself thinks that this one software is built upon 2 different programming languages that contradict each other.
- Sometimes it slows down or chrashes when working on heavy files or gives login problems once in a while.
- Fusion is a little confusing and needs earlier experience on any 3d modelling or cad software in order to use this.
