### About AnyLogic

AnyLogic is simulation modeling software which enables companies to gain insights and optimize complex systems across a wide range of industries like manufacturing, healthcare, transportation, and more.

The key feature of AnyLogic is it's multi-method simulation modeling. It allows you to create models using a combination of discrete event, agent-based, and system dynamics methods within a single model. This provides flexibility to simulate systems and processes of any complexity. The different methods can be visualised using various languages like process flowcharts, state charts, and stock-flow diagrams.

Additionally, AnyLogic contains industry-specific libraries tailored to the needs of various sectors. These include libraries for generic business processes, bulk and liquid transfer, rail transportation, pedestrian flows, road traffic, manufacturing, and warehouse operations. The libraries provide pre-built model elements specific to each industry.

AnyLogic enables creating 2D and 3D animations and dashboards to visualize the simulation models. Models can be brought to life through interactive graphical objects, custom images, and navigation features. Stakeholders can easily...

understand the simulations through these visuals. AnyLogic also offers capabilities to run, collaborate on, and share models through its cloud platform.

Helpful Tutorials And Resources

Getting started is easier with AnyLogic's wide range of tutorials, guides, and sample cases. New users benefit from accessible documentation, online examples, and step-by-step training materials that help build skills and confidence in using the software.

Customizable Simulation Capabilities

AnyLogic lets you build detailed, realistic simulations for a wide range of scenarios, from supply chains to healthcare. Its drag-and-drop interface, Java integration, and rich libraries make it possible to model complex systems and analyze processes with flexibility and depth.

Versatile Modeling Options

You can create models using multiple paradigms, including agent-based, discrete event, and system dynamics. The platform supports hybrid modeling, offers extensive libraries, and allows users to personalize models for diverse applications, making it suitable for beginners and experts alike.

Slow Performance And Lag

Users often experience slowdowns, lag, and unresponsive behavior, especially with large models or on older computers. The software can be heavy on system resources, leading to delays in simulation runs and general usage.

Outdated And Complex Interface

The user interface feels old and can be difficult to navigate, especially for beginners. Menus are cluttered, graphical elements are dull, and the overall experience is not very user-friendly, making the learning curve steeper for new users.

Anylogic review

4

Overall, my experience with AnyLogic has been very positive. It’s an incredibly versatile tool that lets you model complex systems using agent-based, discrete event, and system dynamics methods—all in one environment. The ability to customize models with Java is a major strength, though it does come with a learning curve. Once you get past that, the level of control and flexibility is unmatched. The visual outputs are excellent for communicating results, and the cloud integration is a nice bonus for sharing models. It’s not perfect—there are UI quirks and the price is steep—but it’s a powerful platform that’s well worth the effort if you need serious simulation capabilities.

Pros:

AnyLogic is incredibly versatile—being able to combine agent-based, discrete event, and system dynamics in one platform is a huge plus. The Java integration gives you full control and flexibility, and the built-in libraries save a ton of time. It's a powerful tool for complex, real-world simulations.

Cons:

While AnyLogic is a powerful simulation tool, it’s not the easiest to learn—especially if you don’t have a programming background. Many advanced features require Java coding

Pros:

The incredible flexibility! With AnyLogic's multi simulation paradigm framework a user can implement system dynamics, process-centric modeling (Discrete event) as well as agent-based modeling techniques all in one model AnyLogic is unbelievably flexible and with Java as a backend, there is nothing you can not do. AnyLogic is also at the forefront of new development in the simulation space. Always reinventing their product and offering and leading the simulation world into new technologies like cloud based simulations .

Cons:

Like anything worth doing it requires some effort to master the basics of the software. But with excellent technical support and great examples and training amterial this can be overcome quite easily.

Vendor Response

Hi Daniel, thanks for your review! You're right—advanced AnyLogic models may need Java, but you can also build simple models using the graphical interface. To dive deeper, we suggest the “AnyLogic in Three Days” textbook, Rail Library guide, and Hump Yard tutorial—all available in the Help and Resources sections on anylogic.com. You can also explore ready-made models on AnyLogic Cloud. For coding, the "Learn Java for AnyLogic!" blog post is a great place to start.

Pros:

It is easy to use and has tutorials which help you learn the basic processes and follow through the work and allow one to enjoy modeling and simulations.

Cons:

I believe that it would be best to have a manual/document that explains the parts in anylogic. For example: the palette parts and all their icons and what they do and when is it relevant to use them. Only that. With an example per part.

Vendor Response

We appreciate your feedback! All the information about AnyLogic’s palette parts, icons, and their functions is available directly in the AnyLogic Help portal. For example, you can find explanations for every palette and its icons here: https://anylogic.help/anylogic/ui/anylogic-palettes.html. You can also access this help anytime by clicking AnyLogic > Help > AnyLogic Help in the menu, or by pressing F1 while using AnyLogic. The help includes detailed descriptions and examples for each element. Let us know if you need further guidance!

I don’t like how outdated it is. It feels like it was made to run on window 7 and hasn’t been updated. It lags horribly when I have any other tab open. It needs some serious modernization for quality and to also improve the looks of it.
