- Customer support: 3.0/5
- Value for money: 3.7/5
- Functionality: 3.8/5

### Rating distribution

- 5 stars: 48 reviews (46%)
- 4 stars: 27 reviews (26%)
- 3 stars: 10 reviews (10%)
- 2 stars: 2 reviews (2%)
- 1 star: 17 reviews (16%)

### Most mentioned pros

- Great advertising platform for driving local success, with strong creative solutions including video
- Nextdoor is a social media tool that allows you to connect with local neighbors and people around you.
- I'm working to improve e-bike safety in our communities, and a lot of locals have posted about their experiences with teens on e-bikes.

### Most mentioned cons

- The moderators are out of control in Western Massachusetts. If you are a liberal, then you will love this app because you will be part of the mob and be protected and supported by the moderators. If you you are independent or conservative then I highly recommend not using this app unless you want to constantly fight for almost every post or comment to stay up in the feed and be attacked by the mob.
- My biggest concern is those who use and abuse the platform, which is no different than any other type of social media platform.
- It remains to be seen if I'll receive it. Since I work in e-bike safety and promoting the three legal classes of e-bikes, I may have been targeted by a shady dealer in our region.

Perfect software to connect with people in your neighborhood. You can ask for a recommendation for a plumber, ask if anyone else heard the loud noise or why traffic is backed up on a certain road. You can advise your neighborhood that someone is going around stealing packages or just thank your neighbors for helping out. It’s a great software that’s neighborhood specific so that people aren’t on it from the next city over and that helps greatly in passing information or getting local advice.

#### Cons

No specific cons for this software. You have to have a moderator, which you need on any public forum.

#### Pros

In this world of back porches and social media, it's not as easy to connect with our neighbors. Nextdoor helps us do this. It's a fun way to catch up on what's going on in the neighborhood, swap items, help find lost pets, and encourage others.

#### Cons

When using Nextdoor on mobile, it's a little too easy to heart (like) a post accidentally. I have found myself doing this a few too many times for posts or comments I wasn't too keen on but was simply reading. I think, too, the developers might consider adding more categories to the site to make posting a bit more streamlined—maybe Events, Lost Pets, etc. Also, some folks such as myself are concerned with safety, so maybe Nextdoor could do a few more things to educate users on how to stay safe on such a platform that is full of strangers.

I have been used this app for several months. And my experience is really too good. It makes my life easier to communicate with my neighbors. . It assists at the time of corona lockdown. Literally, it’s too much helpful.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

While I started to use this app, I didn’t think this was useful. But this app is more useful than my expectation. It helps me to keep communication and develop relationship with my neighbors. It contributes to combine us in a center. Festive celebration, get together, small business, party arrangement etc. are being easier and frequent than previous in our local area. New comer can easily introduce with us in our locality through this app.

#### Cons

Features should be increased. Unfortunately, people misuse this good tool. Adultery or extramarital relation is increased in locality for this big network facility.

I feel like it is another way to get to know your neighbors because we don't always have time to get to know them.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

What I really enjoy about Nextdoor is that everything that is posted there can have the potential of having an impact in your life. This is because the people who are posting there are your neighbors! It is social media from your neighborhood! For example, if you loose your dog you can post it there really quickly and your neighbors can start to keep an eye out for your dog. I have seen this happen and the dog is always found. Also, you will only see posts from your direct neighbors, so you don't get bombarded with posts from neighborhoods that you don't live in. I really enjoy it.

#### Cons

I don't like when a lot of businesses do posts, and when you pay to post, it can be any business that might not be in the neighborhood. If it was local businesses posting or a side hustle of a neighbor that would be pretty cool. Don't let big companies take over Nextdoor.

I joined to keep in touch with neighbours, but this site has tended to be taken over for advertising purposes. If you ask neighbours for recommendations of companies, you get very few neighbours replying. Instead you get the companies themselves responding, which isn't any help as you could get this information from Google etc. I agree with other comments that finding your way around the site isn't easy or obvious. Basically, this is a badly designed and run site.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 2/5
- Customer support: 1/5
- Functionality: 2/5

#### Pros

Used correctly, it can be useful tool for people to keep in touch, to post missing animals, recommend companies or warn others of bad experiences they have had, etc.

#### Cons

Admin allocates the neighbourhood you are assigned to. In my case they allocated to me the next door area. If I try to change it to the correct area, a message pops up, saying you can't change your neighbourhood! If you post a negative review about a company and the company asks it to be taken down, Admin will do so, even if they readily agree it doesn't break any of their rules and you offer to provide proof of your experience with the company. Finally, if you make any negative comment to a neighbour about rules such as this, your account is suspended! All of this makes me very suspicious as to who is actually running the site and what/who they are running it for.

Despite its flaws, this is a unique app that you should still download if you value safety, connection, and unity because there’s nothing quite like it. The app not only serves as a communication tool for neighborhood watch programs but is also a place to post babysitting recommendations, local cleaning services, free giveaways, yard sales, and neighborhood events. I love this app for how it brings a community together, encouraging teamwork, sharing tips, and looking out for each other. It's a fantastic way to interact with your neighbors or introduce yourself when you're new. It truly fosters a sense of community and belonging, which our world greatly needs.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 3/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

I have a child, so living in a safe neighborhood is extremely important to me. I want to stay informed about any suspicious activities. I also believe in building connections with neighbors, as you or they may need assistance from each other from time to time. I am a strong believer in neighborhood watches, which require open and transparent communication to function properly. Lastly, I love a good yard sale! I'm always looking for the next bargain!

#### Cons

The software looks and feels a bit outdated. They need to make some improvements to make it more visually appealing. Updating the formatting would not only enhance its reliability but also prevent it from feeling like it might crash at any moment.

I am an active user, I receive daily emails with the latest posts, however, I am not a fan. I feel that most of the time the information posted is not really relevant to my neighborhood.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5

#### Pros

This is a very easy-to-use platform. It consists of writing your concerns, problems, or suggestions about things happening around your neighborhood. You can ask also for feedbacks about these concerns and open a discussion about a topic that affects the same community.

#### Cons

Sometimes people write about things that only concern them. It can be very distracting sometimes since there can be times where what is written is just a comment that has nothing to do with the community. For example: "Post pictures of your pets"

It's fine when looking for community businesses and receive/give help to neighbors. It's a good idea, but VERY poorly executed.

#### Cons

Moderators are community members meaning the majority are likely controlling posts and deciding which posts and comments to remove. Guidelines are subjective and their immediate response is to ban members for a month for each violation. Not turning off comments, deleting posts, or even letting members know why. It's really just a biased social media site at this point. No change has been made to address or change the situation.

Nextdoor is a great tool for those who are interested in their neighborhood. Great for finding a local boy to hire for yard work, or learn about garage sales. Apart from these things, I'll stick with Facebook or Instagram as most of my interests are not bound to my neighborhood. Regarding businesses, I think it's a very good app to get awareness out if your audience is bound.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 3/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

Nextdoor brings social networking to the neighborhood. I love how this software not only allows me to connect with my neighbors, but is a great advertising tool. Especially for small businesses in the area, it's a great way to get the word out to people in the area. This tool makes it easy to connect to a specific target audience geographically.

#### Cons

Of all the social networking tools, I find Nextdoor to be the most complicated. It does seem like it's trying to keep up with the other social networking tools and offer lots of options for people, groups, advertising, individual sales, notifications, etc. While trying to make the most of everything, it can feel like a very complicated app.

Overall my experience has been mediocre, I can see a lot of potential with the use of the site but it does have it's shortcomings with the pay per zip code feature that limits the amount of clients per zip code. I also have not seen any traction on the zip codes we're currently paying for so it's hard to say if it's worth continuing it.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 3/5
- Value for money: 3/5
- Customer support: 3/5
- Functionality: 3/5

#### Pros

Overall the product has a lot of potential for local marketing and networking. I can see that it could be useful for potential name recognition and to get your business noticed for people who may have just moved to the area and are using this app to get referrals for local services and businesses.

#### Cons

The site isn't the most user friendly if you're not familiar with the system. I am pretty new to using the site so I have found it a little tricky to navigate and figure out how to create advertisements or posts for our business to try and get our name out there more. I also don't love how you have to wait for certain zip codes to be available to market in those areas. Given that we are in the smallest state in the country it is very important to get our name out there in all of the zip codes surrounding our offices so we're a little limited on doing so when a zip codes isn't available.

Calling someone or the HOA a [SENSITIVE CONTENT] who should mind their business is not disrespectful. Lots of people are called [SENSITIVE CONTENT] on Facebook and no one gets their account disabled on Facebook. Telling someone who doesn't provide proof I'm wrong to provide proof isn't wrong either. Oh, and last and not least calling out [SENSITIVE CONTENT] mental health (or being anti [SENSITIVE CONTENT] ) isn't wrong considering that there's people that call out [SENSITIVE CONTENT] mental health and anti [SENSITIVE CONTENT] on Nextdoor all the time.

It is very easy to start a conversation with people in your neighborhood about local issues. We have found the best deals on trash service, cable and internet through this app. It really is helpful to me.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 2/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

I enjoy the "welcome" function. When someone new joins the neighborhood (and introduces themselves) it is simple to "welcome" them instead of writing out a comment. I feel like that makes people feel welcome without overwhelming them.

#### Cons

It is very difficult to find a post by searching keywords. And I would prefer to be able to block certain neighborhoods from my news feed, but I cannot do that. The emails that I get are not consistent or up-to-date.
