FareHarbor is a cloud-based tour and activity booking solution that enables tour operators to manage their day-to-day business operations. It offers online booking management and payment portals, and it integrates with user websites. It is designed to work on desktop and mobile devices.

Customers can view tours and events, create bookings and submit payments using FareHarbor. The user dashboard provides a calendar, booking details and booking management tools through a single interface. In the calendar, tour operators can view customer payment details for individual activities and pending dues. Bookings can be filtered by activity type, which allows users to see which activities and tours are being booked most often.

Solid booking software

Good they are very helpful, great customer service and willing to take input and grow.

Pros

Customer service. They are very helpful in helping develope the back end for your tour websites. Big pro that competition does not have is flexibility in deal with handling booking needs with time conflicts.

Cons

There are some flexionilty issues especially when dealing with gift card options, private bookings and othe custom needs that other booking sites have. Such as allowing a certain tour to only be booked with if customer has a code for private parties. And or allowing blackout dates for discounted gift cards.

Good Product - Poor Quality Control

Good product. The product could be even better with more effective business training and the implementation of a formal quality control process.

Pros

It allows businesses to setup and online reservation system making it easier for customers to book a tour.

Cons

As the product continues to evolve and grow it has become harder to use--particularly for small businesses with limited staff resources. Quality control is a major concern for this product. When we first integrated the system with our website it became clear that the company did not perform any quality checks to ensure everything was setup correctly. This is a major concern as there are a myriad of ways that mistakes can be made. Mistakes cause problems for us and for our customers. Most recently, an integration error with an affiliate resulted in a trip cancellation and loss of significant revenue. When problems like this happen, the burden is on us as the business owner--not Fareharbor. This product would be a much greater benefit and quality if more effort was spent on business training and quality control.

Dislike Charging Our Customers

I tested out Fare Harbor for a customer booking system for about a week. We were pestered to give this a try and in our small community we knew 2 or 3 companies who were using them. I was turned off by the look and feel of the ap and how it interfaced with our website. Mostly, the biggest issue was charging our clients a service fee on top of our own fees. It just didn't sit right with us. We've been happily using a different booking software that looks much better, in my opinion. I know one company (our competition) have moved away from them in the last 3 months too. I'm just not a fan.

Pros

The program has flexible options and a great deal of customization in the backend for the settings.

Cons

Their telemarketing can be obnoxious trying to get you to join.

The outward facing program is ugly and hard to navigate for users.

Passing along the fees to the client in an event driven setting helps YOU with the fees but the customers greatly dislike it and it can gain you bad reviews down the road.

Great! We switched from another solution and are very pleased.

Pros

The ease of use for both the user and the admin.

Cons

The bank account setup requires two deposits. This has been cumbersome for us since we do not do online banking as an organization.

Best customer experience I've ever had

Increased conversion rates, fully built website free of charge, no up front fees.

Pros

Not only is the software aesthetically appealing and easy to use, it's also got the most helpful customer service staff I've ever encountered. I email at 12pm on a Saturday, I get a callback from my rep an hour later.

Cons

While the price is right for the size of my business now, the 6% fee will surely become more of a pinch as my business matures.

Also, the customer service is so good sometimes that their urge is to keep you from tinkering...and just do the job for you. It's a nice gesture, but sometimes I want to break things in order to learn a bit more about them.

Fareharbor has been a great tool for managing bookings efficiently.

Helps keep bookings for the Escape House I manage organized and simple. The email notifications also help keep me updated on when games are booked so I know when I need to go in to run a game.

Pros

I love that Fareharbor has a simple interface that lets me see bookings a week at a time. It's easy to see which days have bookings, what time the booking is at, and what type of booking it is. I like that Fareharbor also includes options For taking great payments, issuing refunds, offering discounts, etc. I also absolutely love that there is an option for me to receive an email whenever a booking is made. Overall, I've found Fareharbor to be very effective for my company's needs.

Cons

It can be a little challenging to find what each button does and what steps you need to take to find the information you're looking for. However, my company has not used this software for an extended period of time as yet, so I suspect these problems will be cleared up with extended use that helps me become more familiar with the software.

Game changer for my SUP rental business

Pros

Fareharbor makes it easy to run my sidegig stand up paddle board business with minimal effort. I can manage bookings, plan sessions, communicate with customers all from my phone. One of the great elements is the phone app and the website version are almost identical - so many apps are just a shell of the features online.

Cons

honestly I cant really think of any negative aspects of this program. Its truly been a gamechanger from the previous software we were using for booking.

Cant say enough positive things

Pros

Absolutely love Fareharbor.

The team is incredible, their customer support is like nothing I've ever experienced. They are there for you 24/7. They help integrate the dashboard which saves a huge amount of time and headache. They give you the ability to add affiliates and partner with other companies which make online reservations so much easier.

Cons

The mobile app definitely needs some improvement. I find it easier to use the website over the mobile app.

Good Software & Support, but Industry Worst Credit Card Processing

Good customer support and friendly staff. They can even give advice on increasing your conversion rate on your website. They have an SEO audit as well.

Pros

I was really happy with the actual software as well as the support team. It's clear they are good at what they do, but I don't trust them with my money.

Cons

They told me 1-2 processing on depositing credit card income, but the fastest for is 5 days all the way up to 10!

We needed a tweek to our public booking platform and the customer representative addressed it professionally and promptly!

Pros

Our entire team (from team leaders to managers to tour-guides), is able to customize the view on their devices to suit their preferences! As an admin, we are also able to add or subtract accessibility to select access permissions based upon our companies needs, verses using pre-populated access preferences which may not suite our needs

I opted to receive email notifications for every booking. I wish the email would include not only the number of seats sold, but also the number of seats remaining

One of the best decisions I've made in the 16 years since I launched my photo tour business!

Pros

In my opinion, no other online reservation company can compete with FareHarbor's professionalism or software platform.

FareHarbor values a tour business no matter how small or large it is. Team members have specific expertise in generating tour sales online: digital marketing, Google Analytics tracking, SEO analysis, website design and so much more. Furthermore, I have a great rapport with my awesome Account Manager who is always looking out for my best interests. She is responsive to my emails and scheduling a time discuss issues that take more time.

Friendly and knowledgeable team members and advanced reservation technology are some of the many reasons why Fare Harbor's astonishing growth skyrocketed in just 5 years!

Cons

Two things that would be great with one-click instead of several steps: deleting a tour and changing a tour time.

We love the FareHarbor platform. Reservations are so nice and orderly!

Pros

We love how payments are handled in conjunction with reservations, so we don't have to manually enter any payments made. We can easily track what clients owe.

Cons

**not about the software but we don't like that we keep getting a new account manager every six months. Everybody starts the same, talking about how they are going to help track our sales, etc., then it's silence, then new account manager.. It's hard to build a relationship with a human this way, and its easy to feel like you are dealing with a faceless organization that doesn't know us.

Remarkably flexible. Does everything I need it to do. Support people look for ways to help my biz.

I wrote a review for software that I use. I don't know what Capterra really does, but I might look to see if I can find a substitute for QuickBooks accounting software here.

Pros

Cleverly flexible. Has configurable settings to do all sorts of customizing of available time slots, staffing, pricing, etc. I never run into something I wish it would do that it doesn't already do. I know there are portions I am not even using that would probably benefit me even more.

Easy to populate initially. I really don't remember much about that process because the FareHarbor people did most of it for me.

The support team calls me from time to time to check if they can help me configure my upcoming seasonal schedule or anything else. Sometimes they contact me to notify me of new features I might be interested in. They spread non-competitive information about their other customers' experiences that might benefit me with regard to managing reviews, working with affiliates, working with concierges, etc.

Integrates with Viator and Expedia and other resellers. Has never ever been unavailable.

Cons

It can't be both endlessly configurable/customizable and fast/simple at the same time. So I feel like there are a lot of clicks to get done what I need. I can't think of how to eliminate clicks though without eliminating features.

Beyond that, I am reaching for ideas. Perhaps if there were some sort of integration with our QuickBooks accounting software that would be helpful.

Because I am on it all day every day, perhaps an android app would be better than accessing it from the browser on my phone, but I am not sure how beneficial that would be.

I am unsure how they could do it, but they as a company don't have any web presence that drives visitors to their vendors. Back when Zozi was around, they had a website that steered people to their customers but that was a different business model.

I can't complain about the cost. I pay them so little that I wonder how their business model works.

But I really have to get creative to think of any shortcomings. None that are software related.

Excellent usability for our customers and a huge time saver for us as well.

Increased revenue and a significant time reduction in dealing with bookings.

Pros

The versatility it allows for my many varied events from my haunted house where I need super fast POS to a very flexible yet descriptive online booking system for my Escape Rooms and Mystery Dinner shows.

Cons

Because the software allows so much, it is a bit technical to update everything yourself (like adding specific discounts to current and future events that you want to turn off and on frequently). Luckily, every time I've needed to contact Fareharbor to ask for help, they are patient, fast and professional and either walk me through the update or take care of it themselves without making me feel badly about contacting them.
