Pros:

The Fareharbor software has freed me to get back to doing what makes my company great and puts the entire back office functions at my finger tips: booking, assigning roles, servicing my clients, and ensuring my reporting is clear and easy to follow has gone from consuming most of my time to becoming a second thought. I have an entire staff in my pocket and the support and training from FareHarbor are always there when I have a question.

Cons:

I would like to be able to send more automatic mails than currently possible. That's it.

Works for basic needs, but has gaps

Overall we are booking field trips, tours, and other events. There are multiple users and multiple locations that we are all trying to book within. In the event we are all paying very close attention to what is going on everywhere, we can manage with no problems, however, if we are very busy or someone is very stressed to get something on Fareharbor in a hurry, it is possible to double book something without Fareharbor having any warning.

Pros:

Features that I like most include that a hold can be placed on dates and times by utilizing Private Headlines. New bookings for contacts are very convenient as well as rebooking and cancellations. Plenty of places for notes and the ability to run reports for those various reports. Love all the freedom to program what you want when creating an event, especially when it comes to what information you want to collect from the registrant.

Cons:

The load times are extremely slow. In addition, the program will allow overlapping event reservations utilizing the same resources without telling the user. This can allow double booking of the same location, despite what resources are marked when setting up the event. This is a major problem. There is also the inability to delete several bookings for the contact during the same Order. This is annoying and time consuming when the order has 10+ bookings.

Previous software did not allow us to sale tickets on-line and Fareharbor did.

FareHarbor Has Finger On Pulse of My Business & Like Having One's Own Private Team!

I grew up with eTix, moved along with ZERVE (whom I adored) and then came into FareHarbor once ZERVE bit the dust. FareHarbor had some kinks at first but then took the torch and ran with it like a leader well in touch with things. I like that FareHarbor gets that although there's a template or universal aspect to tour businesses, that there are also some like my own that are constantly changing, evolving and pushing the envelope and do more than stay conventional. It means the world that their team is open to my evolution and are willing to work to create new dimensions to their own system to help me fulfill my vision! That's massive and money in the bank!

Pros:

Sounds cliche, but it's very organic and "thinks" like someone in the tour industry. It's almost scary! It's like the software knows what I'm thinking at times, stays ahead of me but then other times, it's like I'm teaching it new things. Very collaborative feeling.

Cons:

I doubt if anything is dummy proof but this is as close as it can get. I do hope that in the future, they will find a way for me to add some alternative things to the checkout for the customer. I have a product that is related to the traveler experience and would love to have it as a check out option right before they buy the tour tickets or complete the transaction because I feel its like a final sale's plug reminder that they might either jump on board with or be interested enough to go back and review the product's description and be influenced to purchase it last second. Currently its an item for sale but its too separated from where I think it needs to be personally.

Easy To Use Booking System With Great Customer Support

Because it costs the company nothing and their customer service is top-notch I have nothing but great experiences with FareHarbor and the customers do not seem to mind the added fee for online booking as the booking numbers have gone up since implementing FareHarbor!

Pros:

The team at FareHarbor made the transition to their product super easy. They listened to our requirements and configured the product to accommodate everything required. Both the frontend and backend of the product is easy to navigate and use for both customers and administrators. It integrated with the website with no problems.

Cons:

Their fee is pretty steep in my opinion. It's charged to the customer booking, but I don't like the amount of the fee no matter who it is passed on to!

No cost to the company since the fee is added to the customer booking total.

Exorbitant fees we couldn't pass on with a clear conscience.

After a somewhat rocky trial experience things did work and the system was obviously comprehensively featured. We decided that the 6% booking fee was way to much though and would've meant our average customer paying £9 in fees. Added that Fareharbor would make £10,000/year or more providing their booking system to us - didn't seem like a realistic price.

The team was very helpful for integration, and it was a full package of reporting, booking software, and payment provider. The customer front-facing booking experience was clean and flowed nicely.

Cons:

Customization had to be done by FareHarbor, or at least was very opaque to the user. At the time we used it, everything felt very hacked together and clunky for what we were trying to with the tool. We were trying to use staff and lane assignment as both being required to take a booking, but the solution made the dashboard look almost unusably cluttered.

We were looking for something that felt a little more tailored and less expensive. We ended up switching back.

Fareharbor is nearly flawless with integrations to concierges and third party resellers. Customer support is top notch and fast.

Cons:

It looks like it was built in 1994 and the cost is expensive but it does exactly what we need it to do.

Cons:

The one thing I really did not like about FareHarbor was the high fees. I believe it was due to where I was located.

Fareharbor is headed in the wrong direction

The platform and customer service used to be a industry leader and game changer, and now has become a burden.

Cons:

Very disappointed. Was baited into letting Fareharbor build us a new and free website 5 years ago, I asked my account manager (who has meanwhile left the company) and made sure copyrights are and owership, and they promised everything would be owned by us with no strings attached. Fareharbor now won't show us any written contract that we signed or were lured in with. Starting October 31 2024, FareHarbor sends an email with new policy changes for website hosting. No warning we are told the website is theirs now and Fareharbor disputes anything they promised, and claim ownership of the website, litterally forcing you to pay above market rate ($5,000) hosting fees for or leave without a website and lose even more. You can't keep and manage your "own" website unless you pay $5,000. It's outraging to say the least and a complete bait & switch tactic executed without warning and enough time to reasonably avoid financial damage. It literally feels they stole the rights to our website and all our owned content and pictures, that we had for 15 years. Our site will be offline unless we pay $5,000, every year and only give us 2 months to build a new website with someone else or be offline. Fareharbor, it is common sense that you don't treat a company that made you a furtune that way, and presenting your most loyal clients with a new reality after the fact with no reasonable alternative. What a break of trust. We trust Fareharbor with thousands of transactions and financial data information to turn around and do this to us. Thats not being a good partner and I can not recommend Fareharbor any more. I have referred many new start ups and existing companies to sign up with Fareharbor. Again, I don't recommend at this point to sign up with Fareharbor any more, unless Fareharbor admits their mistake and change direction immediately. Fortunately and unfortunately for FareHarbor "ACTIONS SPEAK LOAUDER THAN WORDS". The platform and customer service used to be a industry leader and game changer, and now has become a burden. Thier processes has become very ineffecient, e.g. the highly important booking calendar builds are being ridled with cumbersome new forms to fill out, or making repetive steps for each individual item that Fareharbor used to be able to just make a dublicate in the past. Making changes to affiliate rates has do be done and set up new every time for each affiliates, making redundant form entries that take hours. The process to make changes and future builds has become ever more complicated and less customized, with Fareharbor puting the time burden on us the clients. What used to be handled in one conversation/phone call with your account manager now takes hours to jump through several forms and steps. It can take weeks and months before a calendar goes live nowadays and then often is a poorely executed and synced product in terms of resources, capacities, dates/time, and availability. It is ver frustrating that after 5 years we spend more time troubleshooting for months to find errors and mistakes made by the build team. What used to be a same or next day finished task such as to build (dublicate a booking calendar) can take months, and many follow up calls for the request to not be dropped. It is the time we don't have and the burden we were promised Fareharbor was going to take away from us that has been more and more put back on us now over the years. Account managers are doing what they can, I can't complain about \[sensitive content hidden\], he is working hard and he is great. However, he is being left high and dry by Fareharbor's poor top down decisions as well. Fareharbor, you don't plug the goose that laid your eggs. Be aware that there are better platforms out there now!
