### Most mentioned pros

- The seamless integration with version control systems, such as GitHub and GitLab, significantly automates the localization workflow.
- the strong combination of automation via integrations, powerful contextual translation tools (In-Context Editor, screenshots), and increasingly sophisticated AI capabilities...
- One could write a small book or documentation page with a few sections with everything good about Crowdin, so I would simply advice anybody who hasn't tried it before to simply go ahead and sign up! If you feel like translating is something you're interested in, then go ahead and contribute to a project you find interesting.

### Most mentioned cons

- I would love to have an option to make smaller segments out of a big chunk of text, as sometimes the text is so long, that I cannot see my translation (not mentioning the TM match) if I don't scroll the whole screen, which is really annoying.
- Loading time in larger project is very slow, particularly when viewing more than one language at a time.
- The way to add or edit term base entries has become slower and more complicated than before.

### Highly Recommend Crowdin for Translation Work

I highly recommend Crowdin for translation work. I have already recommended it to friends who are using it for their projects. Of all the translation tools I have used, it is my favorite.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Crowdin is a fantastic platform that has made the translation process incredibly smooth. It's super easy to use, even for beginners, with a user-friendly interface that anyone can navigate. The website loads quickly, which is a huge plus when managing large projects. The machine translation feature provides helpful context based on work you have already done. Plus, the glossary feature ensures consistency across all translations, maintaining our high-quality standards.

#### Cons

The overall project management on Crowdin could use some improvement. The dashboard process, in particular, needs refining. It would be great to have more intuitive and easy-to-understand dashboards that clearly show the amount of work completed over time. This enhancement would make tracking progress much more efficient and user-friendly.

#### Reasons for switching to Crowdin

The organisation I was volunteering for made the switch, but I think they made the right choice.

### Crowdin, probably the best localisation platform

Very good. I even had the opportunity to speak to the support team sometimes, and they were very friendly and easy to talk to.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

There are several things I love about Crowdin. For one, over the 8+ years I've been using the platform, I've always found it's amazing how easy it is to collaborate with other translators across multiple projects via the discussions tab on each string. Whenever there's something going on, I receive an e-mail about it, and I can focus on getting things resolved. Fast and easy. I come from a software developer's perspective, and I have used Crowdin to create and manage projects (thanks to Crowdin's amazing policy of free projects for open-source initiatives). In this position, you're often faced with the challenge of introducing your user base and collaborators to the platform where they will be handling translations, and I can assure you that Crowdin has been by far the easiest and most intuitive space for regular users, who may not have any background whatsoever in localisation, to contribute their grain of sand towards translating a project. Pretty much every language on earth is supported, and if the language you want isn't there, the Crowdin team can evaluate whether it'd be feasible to add it to the main platform. Also speaking from the perspective of a project owner rather than a translator, integrating Crowdin with my projects using their Git widgets functionality has been an absolute relief. All the effort we had to put into maintaining translations via static files and complicated systems is gone, and we can focus on building software whilst our user base translates it! One could write a small book or documentation page with a few sections with everything good about Crowdin, so I would simply advice anybody who hasn't tried it before to simply go ahead and sign up! If you feel like translating is something you're interested in, then go ahead and contribute to a project you find interesting. I for one started using Crowdin because of Minecraft and haven't stopped since! Overall I think Crowdin has made many good decisions in time, and they continue to strive as probably the #1 localisation platform.

#### Cons

There are two specific things I dislike about Crowdin: 1. The overall restyling of the platform that was implemented some years ago. Icons and text borders started to become roundish; things were de-centred for no apparent reason... just, why? You could have kept it perfect! 2. The removal of national flags. To me as a translator and proofreader, this change has made the experience of finding a language incredibly painful. Now imagine how it looks for new contributors who see the project page for the first time and see a bunch of grey flags with random letters all over them... this really discourages people who may have otherwise stayed, having clicked on their own country's flag to take a peek...

### Easy to use as a translator

Overall, I’ve had a good experience with Crowdin. It’s a solid tool with useful features, especially around AI translations and translation memory. It’s not perfect, but it works well for what we need.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 3/5
- Customer support: 3/5
- Functionality: 3/5

#### Pros

I like that Crowdin lets you use different AI translation providers like DeepL and Google. Different tools work better for different languages, so having that flexibility is really helpful. It makes it easier to get strong first drafts. The translation memory is also a big plus. It saves time and keeps wording consistent across the product, especially for repeated terms.

#### Cons

The UI is okay, but it can feel a bit convoluted at times. It’s not always obvious where things sit or which setting you need. From what I’ve heard from developers, adding and managing keys can also feel quite clunky. It’s a bit frustrating that keys have to be merged into master before they’re available, instead of being live straight away. That can slow things down.

#### Reasons for switching to Crowdin

price but cant remember as some time ago

It's safe to say Crowdin still is my favorite CAT platform. It is straightforward, OS and device agnostic, and super reliable.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Crowdin is a platform that has matured a lot over the last few years. Fast, reliable, and user-friendly, not to mention the fact that workflow and its interface are consistent regardless of what platform you are on (PC, Mac, or portable Android and Apple devices). Taking care of urgent requests on your mobile device while you are away from the office is just magic, and Crowdin is at the top of the game in this area.

#### Cons

The way to add or edit term base entries has become slower and more complicated than before. It used to be faster and more streamlined.

### Crowdin is one of the best platforms for Game Localization

I'm reviewing Crowdin's website, on Chrome, both on the PC and on mobile, since I never used the app. Crowdin is a very useful tool for software localization and team projects. I've started using it in 2020 and it has been a really great experience. The platform offers many options for volunteer translation and localization, which can be an interesting way to get into this market and acquire the know-how. Also, in the project I've been helping the most, I've found a very specialized team of translators that have helped me by teaching the nuances of Game Localization, an opportunity, I believe, very few people have. Overall, Crowdin's features make crowdsourcing feel rewarding. As such, I believe it is one of the best platforms for Game Localization

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Crowdin is very intuitive. I had never used a CAT tool before, and I learned how to use it very fast; I liked Crowdin so much that I became a bit too attached to it. Those who want to translate can use it for free. For project managers, there are many paid options. I can't describe further, as I have never created or managed a project. The design is clear and simple, and the editor has 4 view options for different purposes. All the project's text is divided into strings, and in each string you can see all the translations suggested and approved so far (from the language you selected, from Translation Memory and Machine Translation, and also from other languages), and the comments made from other people from all the languages. Beyond that, you can always check the glossary (that you can also feed), and search for a specific term in the source language to see how it was translated into the target language. The editor has more features, such as integration with other softwares (e.g. CAT tools); however, I can't say much about them as I have not used them. The main features of the editor make it a reliable tool for any project; especially in the case of technical translations, there is little need to use an internet search engine, as you can feed the software with any information you like - such as pictures, very useful for clarifying context. Of course, searching for info from another source is important, however Crowdin has alternatives that accelerate that process. Another important feature is the approval system: managers can choose some members as proofreaders, and these members will be responsible for approving translations. Ideally, only approved translations - i.e., those judged the best by the proofreaders - will actually make part of the localized software. In the project I help the most, there is a team of paid proofreaders that also translate, and they go through all of the suggestions to choose the best one. This is crucial, as the project is public and many translators are volunteers with little to no experience in localization and/or fluency in the source language. In the project, you can also check for tasks from the managers; the statistics about contributions; a log of everything done by every member; and a public forum for discussions. The website is very safe, as I have not been hacked any time, nor any of the colleagues I know. No project I am a member of has been attacked somehow by hackers and/or griffers. Crowdin has an in-built system of attributing money to tasks (based on characters, words, strings etc. translated and approved). I can't describe it, as I have always worked as a volunteer translator.

#### Cons

There's very little stuff I dislike about Crowdin. The lack of a more accessible log of translations makes it hard to trace translations that have been deleted or lost for some reason. The current log also doesn't allow you to use words to search for translations. From what I've used, the in-build private messaging system is a bit buggy and laggy, and I prefer using other messenger softwares. It could be certainly improved. There could be features for avoiding flooding in the editor. Sometimes, (unexperienced) users will flood strings with very poor translations that visually pollute the editor, or send a series of useless comments as problems to be solved, and then the proofreaders will have to repeatedly solve the problems and delete the suggestions, or just have to ignore them.

Overall, my experience with Crowdin has been excellent. The platform balances functionality and accessibility very well: the learning curve is short, the user interface is clean and responsive, and the file management system makes collaboration seamless. Although I have noticed occasional performance issues with larger projects, they don’t affect the overall reliability of the tool. Crowdin has improved both the quality and efficiency of my translation workflow.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5

#### Pros

What I liked most about Crowdin is how smooth the learning curve was. Even as a new user, I quickly understood how to manage projects thanks to the intuitive user interface. The text and file management tools are very efficient, making it easy to handle large translation projects, and I also appreciate the collaborative features that help maintain consistency across the team.

#### Cons

What I liked least is that sometimes, when dealing with very large projects, the platform experiences minor bugs and issues, such as slower loading times. In addition, while the setup for certain integrations is powerful, it can feel a bit complex for first-time users

Overall, my experience with Crowdin has been very positive. It’s a powerful and reliable platform for localization projects, especially for teams working on multilingual products. Once you get used to the workflow, it significantly improves productivity and collaboration between translators, developers, and project managers.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5

#### Pros

Crowdin makes localization and translation management very efficient. I really like the intuitive interface, real-time collaboration features, and how easy it is to manage multiple languages in one place. Integrations with other tools and version control systems are also very helpful and save a lot of time.

#### Cons

Some advanced features take time to fully understand, especially for new users. The pricing can also feel a bit high for small teams or individual users, and the interface may feel slightly overwhelming at first due to the number of options available.

My overall experience has been highly productive. Crowdin effectively bridges the gap between developers and translators, transforming localization from a manual bottleneck into a streamlined, continuous process. It is a robust, scalable platform that saves time and improves translation quality.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5

#### Pros

Crowdin provides excellent collaboration tools and an intuitive interface for translation teams. The seamless integration with version control systems, such as GitHub and GitLab, significantly automates the localization workflow. Additionally, the Translation Memory and centralized glossary features are highly reliable and ensure consistency across large-scale projects.

#### Cons

Configuring complex workflows and mastering the more advanced automation features can present a steep learning curve for new administrators. Navigating very large project structures can also feel slightly cluttered at times.

#### Pros

Crowdin is an easy-to-use localization platform with a simple interface and a gentle learning curve. It’s easy to move between segments. I used it for a South Asian language localization, and the suggested translations during the process were fairly accurate and helpful.

#### Cons

The platform has limits when handling Bengali punctuation. It does not recognize that the Bengali full stop (।) is different from the English period (.). Also, placing HTML tags within Bengali sentences is difficult because Bengali sentence structure is different from English.

#### Cons

It takes time to find the location of the translations in the side menus, especially in the different languages. Sometimes switching between projects and files makes it difficult for the user, and even I, as an experienced user, sometimes get confused until I find what I'm looking for. Crowdin is a high quality product with many good and helpful features. We used it in a former project as crowd translation tool for our app and it worked very well. At the moment our main project only has very basic requirements and we don't need many features anymore.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

1. It's easy to invite colleagues, customers and professional translaters to translate content. 2. Using the crowdin cli tool to upload and update translations in our code base. 3. Create branches which reflect code branches.

#### Cons

Over the years and the additional features crowdin got more and more expensive although we have a very basic workflow: 1 private translator, just translation of every string in 1-2 languages, upload and download per cli tool. Currently we are thinking about not using Crowdin anymore - although we like Crowdin very much.

### Crowdin is a great value for large scale crowdsourced project

Overall our experience with Crowdin has been great, their customer service team is very friendly and helpful! Our translators enjoy using it and the only complaints I've heard have been occassional speed issues, but we're not sure if that was their own connectivity issues or Crowdin issues. My only complaint from an administrators standpoint is that it is very difficult to have any sort of feature requests addressed, so unless the request is already on their roadmap or is shared by their much larger clients, it probably won't happen.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

Crowdin is a huge cost savings compared to our previous software. We don't pay per translator access which is essential for crowdsourced translations and we only hit our string maximum after 5 years. The editor works well on a mobile device, which is key for volunteer translators to be able to contribute whenever they have time and does not exclude those who can only get online through their phones. Editor is robust and they're always adding great apps to add even more functionality. Project management is very simple as file progress/status is easy to track.

#### Cons

We would love for translators to see the status of their language for each project from their Profile view, so that they don't have to click into each project in order to see which one has work to be done. We also have needs for some of our volunteers to manage the permission of others, which was a feature when we started with Crowdin, but they removed this feature 2+ years ago and we're still waiting for new permissions to come out to help solve this problem. I would love to see more fine tuned controls for Machine Translation integration. Right now if you wanted to use different engines for each language pair you're not able to do that.

#### Reasons for switching to Crowdin

Significant cost savings, mobile-friendly

You can work concurrently. This is one of the most significant needs; undoubtedly, Crowdin is at its best. The software can be translated located at a time. It does gives the completion status and you don't need followups.

I can list many. The best part is Auto suggestions from the previous content or from other sources. You don't have to translate the repetitive words or sentences again. It will suggest the right words accordingly. And it checks grammatical mistakes even in secondary languages like Tamil from India.

#### Cons

Nothing big on the downside. The search function could have been better, and the web page is dull. Please include some interactive and vibrant colors. Navigating to a previous page could have been better/

I'm using Crowdin to translate LineageOS in Romanian. Gigantic project. Crowdin just makes it so easy to translate it. When I have something to translate, I'll get an email to get informed about it. I can see the progress on the Romanian translation, what strings I need to translate and I can save each translation very easily.

We have used Crowdin to manage translations of our software and our whitepaper. Now we're looking at translating our documentation too. We crowd sourced the translations to 30+ languages by nearly 100 translators so far. Thanks to the GitHub integration, our open-source software codebase is continuously synchronized with our Crowdin project across versions. Finally, we have leveraged the Webhok and Crowdin APIs to build a fine-grained integration with our product, which will allow us to further gamify and incentivize translations.

I am more than happy working with Crowdin. It is really easy to use, intuitive, it has a lot of features to help you work more efficiently in less time and it even includes a small place for comments between colleagues. Simply the best.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

The feature that I like the most it is the TM. It works perfectly, you can search any word or phrase and the system will check in all projects to find the match. This way you can easily have consistency among your files. You can also leave comments in any string and even tag someone when you need something to be checked. You will receive a notification on your email when getting tagged. The software will also recommend similar translations for each phrase, that makes the translator job easier and faster. And it helps to avoid translating similar phrases into different expressions.

#### Cons

The only thing I would change is the 'approved' feature. This is used when someone checks and approves certain string, but it would be great if the check mark could have different colors depending on the user that approves it. This way it could be checked by different users until the final version is ready to download.

My overall experience with Crowdin is very positive. It offers what I need most of the time, and very seldom do I feel that I need more features. The UI/UX is great, and project management is fantastic.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

Crowdin is an incredibly smooth and user friendly tool that streamlines the translation process for freelance translators.

#### Cons

Due to its user friendly nature, it might lack some of the more advanced features that more advanced CAT tools have. Also, the report feature is lacking functionality, which means it becomes rather cumbersome to get statistics for invoice creation.
