About DeepL Pro

DeepL Pro is a machine translation solution that utilizes neural networks to generate accurate and secure translations for multiple languages. Unlike other translations tools, DeepL Pro offers complete data security with end-to-end data encryption and will automatically delete all text after translation. DeepL Pro can also translate multiples documents with one click without altering the fonts, images, and formatting (supported formats include .pptx, .docx, and .txt.)

DeepL Pro can easily integrate into any CAT tool as well as any other third-party platform using DeepL's JSON-based REST API.

Interface with the world!

The experience is more than positive! I can use it both to better understand foreign languages and to express myself more credibly and truthfully with various partners and clients around the world.

Pros:

DeepL seems to read your mind and understand exactly the concepts you have in mind and would like to convey to people who speak a different language than you. The clever use of buttons and shortcuts allows you to open it from any text source and then paste the already translated texts directly into the source page. Its extreme configurability makes it invaluable and irreplaceable for translations that don't sound mechanical and low-level.

Cons:

It would be nice to have some additional features (however already included in paid subscriptions) such as being able to use formal or informal tones, or some custom glossary.

The best MT engine out there

Overall, DeepL Pro is a very important element of my profession. Without it, and with rates and expectations being what they are, it would be difficult to work efficiently enough, at least some of the time. Though the product is intended for general use, it really is the gold standard for translators - at least in the languages I work with - in particular due to the easy integration with various CAT tools. For all it offers, the price is more than worth it.

Pros:

DeepL not only produces great output, but it does a great job of parsing and adapting to context. As such, unlike some other tools, it actually helps translators do their jobs better - not just faster. It has improved over time, proving that the machine learning model does work for MT.

Cons:

The desktop client could be a bit more feature-rich and reliable, but it's certainly not bad - it just seems a bit 'beta'. Of course, the engine does make some mistakes, but once you use it enough, you can usually predict where they will occur. Integrating with CAT tools through the API makes these foibles easier to address.

Reasons for choosing DeepL Pro

As I wrote above, DeepL produces better results, understands context better, and is easier to integrate with CAT tools, especially for those using more than one tool (unlike, say, Memsource Translate). It is also easy to pay once per year for unlimited use, rather than count by character.

Reasons for switching to DeepL Pro

DeepL is simply better - that is, it produces better results. On top of that, it integrates much better with the CAT tools I use.

Good concept, bad tech, worse decisions

When it works, it's great and helps a lot. When it works. One would expect the team to test their updates before making them live, but they seem to think it's way too bothersome to do.

I am using DeepL Pro in order to translate a paragraph, sentence or a word. Moreover, it lists the synonyms of each term present in the translation result, allowing us to easily replace any word.

Cons:

I like this product because it gives me reliable results. I haven't found any drawbacks.

Great Software

Pros:

It is an application that connects the world and its languages and provides synonyms and multiple words that can be adjusted to the true meaning of what we are trying to express to each other.

Cons:

The only drawback that I have had so far is that it presents failures in the translation from Russian to Spanish or English, making it difficult to understand some sentences.

Because this tool offers an array of vocabulary that the previous one did not, and it is richer in grammar.

Best translator I have ever used! Poweful!

Excellent. I use it every day. I work mainly in English, but English is not my native language. Because it is so quick to translate, I use DL all the time to check if what I am writing (mostly formal emails or research reports) makes sense and is the most natural way to say it. I also use it to translate entire documents.

1.) Quality of results. 2) Shortcut keys. You can translate anything by simply pressing CTR + C twice.

Cons:

I like everything. The only problem is that sometimes it crashes and I have to reinstall the software.

The translations are far more accurate than most other translation apps, including Google Translate.

Cons:

Of course even for AI, it is difficult to get the context of some topics in various languages. There can be misunderstandings based on that.

It gets more accurate the bigger the text is. It has a great and easy-to-use online application.

Cons:

There are a few limitations for the free version that are really inconvenient, the size of the text that can be translated, and documents.

Excellent machine translation of whole books

Deepl relieved me of the need of finding speakers of languages I do not speak. In fact, I have compared Deepl translations to translations made by professional translators and I must say that I preferred the result of Deepl.

Pros:

In my work I need to read books written in languages I do not understand. Google translation most often yields unintelligible results when one wants to have a literary text translated. Deepl, on the other hand, gives a flawless translation. I found extremely useful the fact that it could translate almost perfectly the most elaborate texts. The translation needed very little corrections afterwards. It is amazing that the translation is so good. Google translation had me convinced that translation is always going to be the domain of human translators. Deepl yields perfect translations in no time, while maintaining the original format too.

Cons:

I became a subscriber the moment I tried it. One feature that could be ameliorated is the fact that one has a limited number of docx files that can be translated per month. There are some months though that I do not use it so much. It would have been nice if I could then use my unused quota. But this is really a minor comment.

Because the Google translation of european texts to my mother tongue was spectacularly inferior to that of Deepl.

An Exceptional Translation Aid with Occasional Bugs

DeepL Pro is basically my best friend at work. It’s an essential tool that helps me refine my translations and provides excellent alternatives when I’m stuck. It’s intuitive, and elevates the quality of my work every day.

Pros:

As a freelance translator, DeepL Pro is undoubtedly the best machine translator out there. The free version is impressive, and it’s incredibly easy to use. I especially love the alternatives feature—it always suggests great word options that make fine-tuning translations a breeze.

Cons:

The biggest downside of DeepL Pro is that the website or server goes down more often than I’d like, which can be frustrating. It also gets a bit buggy from time to time. As someone who relies on it daily for several hours, this can be pretty annoying—especially since I’m paying for the Pro version.
