Pros

Power BI has taken our company's data reporting to an entirely new level. Before we had to sift through lots of data to get the metrics we wanted but now there are so many tools to get easy to digest visuals.

Cons

There is a bit of a learning curve with the software and you need to make sure your data is pretty clean beforehand but other than that this is an excellent software choice!

Pros

My institution recently adopted Power Bi to provide a powerful connection between current systems, and to allow for more easy visualizations of key data. This has revolutionized much of our work, creating more tangible paths for data-informed decision making. Power Bi has resulted in significant time savings and pulled together key data for stakeholders into one system rather than the multiple systems we used before.

Cons

Our IT team did need to perform a number of procedures on the back end to sync Power Bi up with our other systems, but other than this our daily front-end user experience is wonderful.

Pros

I believe Power BI is the future of modeling and analysis. Microsoft BI allows you to go above and beyond Microsoft Excel by publishing you models online. Microsoft BI is also powerful, dynamic and has many options.

Cons

While Microsoft BI is a powerful analytics tool, there is a learning curve to getting started and it is not as feature rich yet as it is still in its infancy.

An amazing tool for analyzing data, a bit too complex, a bit too much

Ease-of-use

Functionality

Product Quality

Customer Support

Pros

It has all the power you may expect from a BI tool and a Microsoft product, the ability to create and analyze data cubes is second to none. User interface is sort of familiar as it follows the Microsoft way. Author version is free so you can play with it.

Cons

It's a complex tool to use and will rapidly go beyond your regular Excel-user. I would recommend to exhaust options in Excel (a tool that most of your staff would know by now) and even to step into Power Pivots or so (which is just an add-on to Excel but will allow you to mine huge data sources). By the way, remember that you will need someone knowledgeable on Data handling within your organization.

One of the best BI tools around at a very competitive price point, filled with features and integration with MS products.

Pros

Way easier user experience in generating reports (the "power" adjective makes total sense). Integrelation with Excel, Cortana. Machine learning and analytics, like that of Google, makes generating reports a no-brainer. Simply type what you want in plain English or ask Cortana.

Cons

Not sure if there is an option for a non-cloud version. This is non-open source. Microsoft may potentially view your data, but MS or other search engine has this anyway through Windows 10.

In my first hour, I was in love. In the next 20 hours watching training videos and starting over, I became increasingly frustrated (though I think this product may be aimed for a different user). Eventually I decided to go back to Excel/PPT combo so I could have control back, but Power BI clearly has a lot to offer for the right user.

Pros

I had full-on butterflies in my stomach when I first started created charts in Power BI. It was like the developers saw data the same way I did - all the tiny adjustments I would waste time making in Excel/PPT were already in place. This is a huge time-saver, both because the charts already looked good, and also because there's not much room for changing -nuance- in the charts ... and frankly it kept me from obsessing over every pixel. They look good, and this is how they look. Clean, pastel colors instead of those awful defaults in Excel ... the ability to display "4,004.02" as "4k" is HUGE and made me swoon.

Cons

The learning curve, for a technical average like myself, was tough. Power BI is clean and accessible, but I spent hours trying to understand how to use it at its most basic level. For example, I am an Excel Power User to be sure, but the act of editing my data properly eluded me. For someone more versed with SQL etc. I suspect it would be more apt.

Excellent product for data visulization from small business up to enterprise level

Ease-of-use

Functionality

Customer Support

Value for Money

Pros

The amount of different types of data that can be integrated and analyzed makes this an extremely powerful tool. Businesses from small to large can integrate essentially any data stored digitally for cross reference, analysis, and visualization. Our organization has realized new avenues of business analytics with the options available in Power BI. Dashboards have allowed a more free flow of processed information and has reduced the need for some in-person exchange of the same information (meetings, status calls, etc.). C-suite engagement with Power BI dashboards have provided new strategic opportunities by allowing executives to focus more and spend less time

Cons

Power BI has a decided learning curve and can be daunting for new users. There are, in many cases, lots of ways to do the same thing and learning the most efficient use of the interface and the tools at your disposal can take some time.

My overall experience has been awesome. I am now able to make dashboards and crunch data to filter it to what I need very quickly and easily.

Pros

Power BI is an awesome upgrade to the traditional slow and difficult to navigate excel. You get to do a lot of things in Power BI which otherwise would be extremely tedious and time-consuming to do in excel. It has reduced my data crunching times by atleast 5 times. Thumbs up to it!!

Cons

I think the help section could be made a bit better so that one can basically navigate through it to find most answers rather than try searching for answers online.

As a starting point for our BI practice it worked just fine. Now, after 2 years we are beginning to have issues due to not available features. So far we are able to implement workarounds in the source databases before Power BI consumes data. We know eventually this has to change.

Pros

I was able to create out daily operation KPI dashboards using Power BI in a very few days only using a very cheap Udemy course as training.
For internal usage it can be a very affordable solution when compared to mostly every other enterprise BI solution in the market.
Some of Office 365 services are already integrated to provide datasources to Power BI in a very simple way.

Cons

Microsoft's documentation for Power BI wasn't useful at all.
It works in a completely opposite way to how Excel woks, I expected that my experience using Excel would be helpful, but it wasn't at all.
It lacks a lot of features for data processing and transformation that are expected on any BI solution, like the ability to to column vs rows transposition.
There's no integration between Power BI desktop and web.

I used it for two weeks, and get very nice graphics, some interesting conclusions. But after some time, it just look to me as common sense decisions and stopped to use.

Pros

It is amazing to have an quite economical business intelligence tool like this. I did some simple analysis and got really valuable insight of my business that helped to make actionable decisions, even without being an expert in the field, and just taking a 10 usd six hours course. I liked that I could directly connect with info from a remote server (mysql databases) and make queries there.

Cons

I must say that if you are not a professional user, probably the learning curve it is to high. Even when after a week you can start having interesting results. Wish every step could be easier (make graphics, import remote data, etc). If you want to get tools that do that automatically, there is a market place to buy them, or some developers that do them. But the one I wanted costed about 800 dollars.
