Microsoft SQL Server BI Software

Microsoft SQL Server Business Intelligence (BI) Edition is a database management and BI software solution designed for companies of all sizes. The system offers relational database management, which allows users to access enterprise data using structured query language. The solution allows users to perform complex analysis on the database. The product also features a BI Semantic model that allows users to extract and analyze data from heterogeneous sources.

Microsoft SQL Server features “in-memory analytics,” which allows users to perform queries and analytics while the data is in the RAM, thereby improving the speed of access. The software has scalable and corporate reporting features that help management to make decisions that are more informed. Organizations can improve the data quality by using the organizational knowledge and third-party reference data providers to profile, clean, and match the data.

The IT department can manage data through a BI Semantic Model, which provides a consistent view across multiple data sources.

Includes a much more powerful and user freindly analytics capabilities than other sql products, but still has the integration superiority of sql server

Ease-of-use

Functionality

Product Quality

Customer Support

Value for Money

Pros

The analytics and modeling tools have a very user friendly user interface that allows much less advanced users to create useful reports in an SQL product. SQL BI also includes the powerful query and transformation capabilities common in all sql server editions and necessary for robust BI and analytics including Integration Service for ETL and Report Service for querying and sharing models. These user friendly analytics tools and powerful data prep and data expression tools are integrated relatively seamlessly, and combine to from a product that combines SQLs DB/Query power and systematic product integration with user friendly (but still powerful) data and analytics tools.

Cons

Even this version of sql with some relatively user friendly tools has a pretty steep learning curve and intense resource requirements. In fact, in some ways the nice GUI for tabular modeling is misleading because it seems similar to Excel at first look, but can be deeply discouraging to users when they find out they are nothing alike. Also, no matter how user friendly and integrated the analysis service tools are, you can't avoid writing sql and searching for obscure table names as always.

A very stable environment with clustering, replication, and everything you would expect from an enterprise level product.

You can build your own custom modules that will integrate directly into the server.
Recent versions allow for installation on Linux.
There are user groups.

Some of the Microsoft nomenclature around TSQL can be annoying, such as square brackets.

MS SQL Server Perfect Database Management Solution

I would definitely recommend that you read the Windows administration book before you start exploring SQL server.

Pros

SQL server is a great database management product. This is a very fast and stable and at the same time cross-platform solution running on both Linux and Windows operating systems, the security of which is implemented at the highest level. It is also gratifying that SQL server works equally well on both physical and virtual servers, both on the ground and in the cloud. Since this product is produced by Microsoft, it integrates well with other products of this company, such as Power BI. This app can provide you with high availability and a wide selection of options available of your choice, though everything will depend on the edition. And most importantly, many features can be tested completely free using Developer Edition.

Cons

Although SQL server is easy to manage through the graphical user interface, but to understand how it works, to fix some problems you need to read a thick book, and even more than one and read ton of documentation. Does not have good monitoring tools out of the box. For some companies will not be a cheap solution.

We are using Sql server in our organisation to create new databases and maintaining the existing one. Data access is so simple and secure. If there is any sensitive data then we use to encrypt the table columns data. Overall its a great application.

Pros

Sql server is a powerfull data storage tool and widely used in our organisation. Its enrich with numerous inbuilt features. In sql server backup and restoration task is much easy. Its preety much secure and reliable tool. In sql server there are several security roles to authorize the user, so we use to supply the privilege according to need. Its reporting services are greatly helpfull for us to analyse the data. I can easily monitor the performance / health of the database. Dtabase tuning advisor extremely good in case of performance improvement task as this reveals proper detail of missing items like Index, primary key, stats etc. Easy to review the execution plan of a stored procedure. Data movement from one server to another server is much easy. I can trace the sql statements nicely with the use of trace component.

Cons

Microsoft Sql server setup takes a bit more time but once done then all good.

Pros

The undoubted advantages of this application can include its versatility and reliability, as well as the ability to expand disk space as needed. Excellent notification system allows you to instantly notify all users about the slightest changes.

Cons

Too multiplatform base, to obsession. Otherwise, I did not find any significant disadvantages in the operation of the application. The product has been compared with the base FoxPro.
