Paycom Software


 

Paycom is a cloud-based payroll management solution that enables organizations to automate payroll processes. The platform stores all employee-related data in one place and ensures that changes are reflected in real-time across the system. The product also provides an in-person client specialist to each customer who requests help.

Paycom is able to create reports that can be imported to other accounting solutions. The expense management feature automates the expense reimbursement process and defines rules, categories and parameters for employees to monitor claims. Employees can also upload bills related to expenses by using a self-service portal available within the tool.

Paycom is able to debit payroll taxes on time, depositing them on or before due dates and handles all other payroll tax filings. Other features offered by the solution include garnishment management, online payroll processing and payroll analytics. Paycom is ACA compliant and handles all requirements related to 1094 and 1095 reporting.

We've been using Paycom with one of our spin off companies for some time now and have been happy with the performance. It took some time to hone in on one platform given the number of options out there on the market. Our current software for our parent company is good but still has certain things we don't like about it. Now our spin off company has been rocking with Paycom, we may have to make the switch across the board!

Cons

While I don't personally utilize this software on a daily basis, our office gal that does had a few areas she found difficult to transition to. Still, Paycom provided us with excellent customer support and all is going well now.

Overall, it is a good product

Pros

It is basically a one stop place for all HR and payroll processes. From one interface I can clock in/out, request timeoff, get reimbursed for milage.

Cons

Logging in to clock in or out can be cumbersome. As administrative staff, I still have to pick my department and task, even though this never changes for me.

Pros

You have a dedicated customer relations contact and that person has a team who knows your account. Payroll and HR works very well and you are covered with the ACA.

Cons

The applicant tracking system is cumbersome and takes planning to make it work. When there is turnover you aren’t always informed up front.

If you are a complex company with employees working in multiple states, I wouldn't recommend Paycom.

Pros

single data base system. Supervisor log in/access with ability to set specific parameters per user.

Cons

Time sheet rounding errors between detail and summary. ACA never worked correctly. Tax compliance within the system not at par.

Our paycom rep is extremely knowledgeable and usually quick to respond to our needs. Once you know what you are doing in paycom, it is fairly easy to navigate and the functionality is strong.

Cons

If you are a first time user, it is going to take you awhile to get comfortable with Paycom. There are a lot of features available, but not a lot are offered, meaning you have to pay big dollars to really unleash the real potential lying in Paycom.

the learning curve, the implementation, the basic configuration is very long, intense and delicate, ... definitely the access can be improved (More simple). The reports are not very representative and lacking in customization, the UI / UX experience is not the best, difficulty moving through the system.

Its a one stop shop for all your payroll, HR and time management needs and definitely worth trying.

Pros

Organized all the features to maximize utility and we can get around the application pretty easily.
Like the fact that company specific materials can be integrated into the system very nicely and doesnt take a lot of effort to do it.

Cons

Logging in with a password is sufficient. It feels like the additional SSN field doesnt really help with security.
And the checklists sometime shows pending item even if there is nothing to complete. It can get a lil annoying.

The employee self serve is easy to navigate however module not offered in other languages as promised.

Cons

Over promised and under performed. You definitely get what you pay for. I would never recommend this HRIS system to anyone. It is inexpensive but we've had several issues with Health insurance, Cobra 401(K). It's not worth the headache. The ONLY way I would recommend is if a company needs a BASIC HR system for time keeping and running basic labor reports.

Paycom's operates on a single database that's written in the same code - so the look and feel is exceptional. There are no issues with integrating the different modules and they all "speak" to each other in the same language. It's truly an all-in-one solution so you don't have to look elsewhere

Cons

Pricing is higher than other vendors, but they do not ever raise rates on current clients. Also, if you are from a niche industry and need specialized solutions - Paycom may not be for you since they do not integrate well with third party applications.

Implementation has been a nightmare!

Implementation team is young and inexperienced to the real world. The system lay out was done incorrectly and now reports generated by system is absolutely useless to the company. The answer was you can write what you want yourself. There was no communication when set up was done with how information from system is generated to allow THE CUSTOMER the choice of layout. Now have to do manual reporting to government agencies that did not have to do prior. I feel like we have dealt with a used car salesman. Watch your invoice - we have had some major billing issues, and after 3 payroll runs the bill is still incorrect and I have been waiting for days for an explanation of the delay in correction.

Pros

Ease/order of entry. Employee Side Sample Paystub nice feature. Package is pleasing to the eye. Proceed with caution!

Cons

Lack of system ability to generate and distribute payroll reports automatically. All the hidden costs that are not included in original quote. Slow response to issues. Recommended Push Reporting to automate reporting. Failed to mention push reporting does not allow bi-weekly reporting - the payroll here is BI-WEEKLY! Can only generate reports daily, weekly or monthly.

report writing is good. Fairly easy online interface. They are very nice before implementation and express confidence before things get going. I think the employees are good, but the management systems at Paycom do not allow the people to really take care of the customers.

Cons

Sold us things which do not work
For us, the system did not work well. We pay commissions but in Paycom the sales numbers count as hours. So we had inaccurate hours for empployees
Major problems with ACA data not updating as it should.
They did not take accountability for setting up the W2s correctly.

Highly recommend this platform! As a start-up we're using technology optimized across our digital stack and extremely pleased with the results Paycom gives me as an employee

Pros

-easy to navigate (HUGE plus) - if you've struggled with other benefits tools (used Kronos in the past) the UI is very easy to navigate, everything is placed in a very organized and neat layout
-mobile app offered - pretty efficient and have used it when needing to work remote/request a sick day

Cons

-no real complaints - it does what I need and I've been very satisfied. security was a bit tedious when setting up, but I'd be concerned if it were too easy

It was great. We got it near the end of my employment with a credit union but I was able to access it from my cell phone which is super handy!

Pros

It's very user friendly and easy on the eyes. I didn't have any issues with submissions or requesting time off.

Cons

The only thing I didn't like at the time was that when I was submitting requests for time off, I couldn't see if it was available or not.

Paycom is like a one stop shop for your HR needs. It makes it easy to manage your work schedule/paycheck deductions/benefits/trainings as an employee and as a manager. I have used this numerous times to check to see when I am next working if unsure. With the ease of a few clicks I am able to adjust my paycheck deductions when necessary without having the hassle of paperwork or going to an HR office. I am able to clearly see which training I need to complete, and get a little notification for anything I have left to get done. I really enjoy being able to have all of these documents online in one place online, rather than having to access multiple sites, or have a physical pile of paperwork.

Cons

I don't really have cons for this software. It took me about a half hour to become completely accustomed to using the site.

I'd recommend Paycom for any company that's moving over 50 employees or over 100 employees and you need everything in one place - Timesheets and HR and Payroll are all in one place with Paycom.

Pros

It's cut and dried HR, logging in and observing pay periods or setting up schedules is easy. It's nice to have Timesheets, Time off Requests, and Payroll in one place as opposed to having these scattered across other small software (Harvest, Tsheets). The mobile app is nice.

Cons

It could be a bit clunky to navigate at times, and it doesn't work as hard as Gusto or Zenefits to be 'pretty' or 'fun', but it gets the job done at scale. It's a bit easier to look at after the update this year.

Paycom has been one of the easiest implementation processes that I have had in my career in HR. Not only was their team super helpful and knowledgeable about the product, they made Envoy feel important as a client. Coming from a larger payroll vendor previously, we always felt like a small fish in a large pond when it came to the level of service we received. Paycom is a complete 180 from that. Their service is great no matter the ask.

Cons

I have not found anything that I truly dislike about Paycom. Products can always improve and I don't doubt that they are always trying to make their product better.

At the time, I liked the software because it was the first online employee management I had used. I think my favorite part was being able to view my available paid time off and sick time while also being able to request time off. (although this is pretty standard for all software like Paycom.)

Cons

Everything must have been 'designed' by developers and not designers. Everything felt pixelated and not aligned. The whole software was barely threshold and I was hoping for improvements over time but didn't see many.

I like that it is cloud based and it has training classes built into the website.

Cons

I feel like there is a big overhaul needed to make browsing the website more user friendly. It would be advantageous for the company to hire a UI expert to steam line things. I also wish there was a better way to place alerts on the software when people login.

We had a lawyer recommend we run away as fast as possible, as this company has caused us to fall out of compliance repeatedly and worse than that, they refuse to correct their systems or acknowledge what is wrong with their product/service. We were also advised by the labor board to file an official complaint describing the fraudulent advice Paycom offered us to correct their errors in reporting.

Pros

The color scheme is green and that's my favorite color so I don't mind looking at it all day. We had one or two helpful specialists, but that's it. There is really nothing else I can commend Paycom for doing well. It's been a nightmare.

Overcharging for services; 2. including vague line items on our billing and taking a week+ to explain what the charge is for; 3. reneging on promises made when they were enrolling us; 4. sending a salesperson who grossly over promised what Paycom could do from the get go; 5. having no idea what labor laws apply to us in CA; 6. charging more than ADP while doing 10% of the work they did for us; 7. having broken functions that take two numbers in their system and multiply them incorrectly which led to our employees having excess accrual or being cheated out of their accrued time off; 8. providing incomplete reports and pay stubs with missing fields; 9. charging us for their "work" that is not done correctly; 10. being unavailable after 4:50pm pacific; 11. sending out paychecks that are unsealed and stuffed upside-down; 12. reassigning us to different team members with zero continuity in service; 13. requesting to see where a service was promised in our contract every single time we ask them to do their jobs; 14. refusing to have anyone on their side actually sign our contract; 15. contradicting one another by telling us whatever excuse they can think of in the moment as if we don't keep notes of prior conversations

Pleased overall with the Paycom Experience they continue to make improvements to make regular workflow as easy as possible.

Pros

We have been using this software for several years now and have no complaints. The recent improvements have really improved PTO approval process.

Cons

The thing I like least about the program is that you have to have two logins as an employer and then an employee. Another addition to the 1000 usernames and passwords I have to put in a day.

Overall I am very happy with Paycom. We have tried 3 other payroll services and this one is the most user friendly and I have not had any issues with the system going down or certain features not work like I have with other software.

Pros

This software is very user friendly. It has a nice work flow to help me on board new hires, create and approve their schedules and time cards. I love the task center, it allows me to send notifications to our employees to read our policy manuals, go through training guides, and I can monitor their progress.

Cons

The only complaint I have with this software, is that our employees report to us that they have a lot of difficulty initially setting up their personal logins. After the initial setup though, we have not experienced any other issues.
