About Lightning MD

Lightning MD is a secure, cloud-based medical billing software. The software is easy to learn and requires minimal training. In most cases, the user can set up a practice and be using the software within one hour. Lightning MD also offers a custom superbill set up for your specialty without using templates. This makes the billing process fast and intuitive. The software also identifies claims that are not likely to get paid and sorts them into a work list. As a result, problem claims are easily found so that they can be fixed and then submitted correctly. Game Changer

Before switching to Lightning MD we were billing with 4-5 different platforms and tracking on a spreadsheet the ability to wrap everything into one system has been awesome

Pros

For a small business such as ours most billing software packages are our of our price range. Lighting MD is very affordable and user friendly and really has allowed us to streamline our revenue cycle.

Cons

Because it takes several months to go through a full revenue cycle we have found ourselves with lots of questions that really could't have been foreseen on our initial training call. While their customer service is fantastic we'd love a video library to refer.

A Vast Improvement From Other Vendors--and getting better every week

The very best. Responsive, willing and able to add the features that we need quickly.

Pros

The calendar feature and ease of scheduling are a major plus and the software is intuitive. Our office staff looked at it once and needed no further instruction! We have not been using it for very long but so far our patients have figured it out on the fly. In addition the connectivity is vastly better than our other attempt at telehealth with Doxy.me.

Cons

We need some notification that the patient is actually logged on and ready to go (i.e. in the waiting room) so that we don't log on and wait with an open camera and open mic, but the developer will have this feature up and running any day now. Patients also have no idea when I am logged in and waiting.

Reasons for Switching to Lightning MD

Connectivity was awful. Picture froze, sound cut out, visits would not load, video was grainy. They had a great waiting room feature and I appreciated being able to essentially type an instruction onto the screen during the visit so the patient could remember it. But there were just too many problems.

Easy to use

I have had no significant issue while using Lightning MD.

Pros

I like that the software is relatively easy to use. All items are easy to read.

Cons

I do not like that some items when clicked open up another completely different window.

Software keeps improving which is a plus

The staff is phenomenal. They are constantly doing updates and improving the software. They listen to all your suggestions and what you need to have.

Pros

I love the statement feature. You are able to see how many statements you have sent out to a patient. Creating claims is an easy process along with sending them out it is a one step process and you can tag them to a worklist if you need to The patient dashboard is very easy to read and you can access different area's, claims, alerts, history.

Cons

Still getting used to reading the ledger, it gets a little confusing. Multiple tabs opening up on the browser when you go to certain areas and you have to remember where you started. Not having a separate screen to review and approve claims before submission

Review about Ligthing MD

Overall I experience time saving in data entry as it reviews address, insurance..etc for me in no time and makes me confident that claim will not be denied for such bad address or no insurance coverage. Saving time is saving money.

Pros

1.I like the most that I can create a superbill without entering patient info first so instead of going to patient entering all the data then go to billing and entering the claim, I take only one option and do all in one. 2. I like it also a lot when I enter the claim I don't have to enter each procedure and dx in a repetitive way, which means I don't have to enter 2nd and 3rd procedure. Lightning MD enables me to enter all CPTs codes together one time which is big time consuming.

Cons

When I enter any data it saves it for me which is really not big deal but I like personally to save everything myself after review. I would rather to delete or edit what I did before I hit save but again it is me:)

Great Software for the Money

The Lightning MD team is great, they are quick to answer questions and help us as we were learning the software.

Pros

Lightning MD is easy to use. Support is readily available through the help section videos and the team will contact you back and walk you through anything you need. Love the cost, for all the options and quality.

Cons

We havn't found any cons yet. The software has been easy to use once we got going.

Great fit
