Learn It and Use It
Pros
I can not state more clearly that Mindbody is the leader in what they do. They have their faults because of the way it was designed originally but they are working on those every day but no system on the market is better. I have a feeling that a couple years from now, they be much larger than what they even are now.
Cons
the old design structure of the base platform could use some updates, which they are aware of
Reasons for Choosing Mindbody
it is a clear leader in the field

I like it but..
Mindbody sets a high bar for business software. But unfortunately their quality of customer services does not match the high premium you pay. There are definitely softwares out there that will suit exactly what you are looking for with a support team that is willing to help you in every way at a fraction of the cost.
Pros
Mindbody is like driving a fully loaded Mercedes Benz. Looks pretty. Has all the features. Very custom and detailed.
Cons
Con: way too expensive. customer service plummeted. Not accommodating. Does not matter if you are a long term customer I feel like I am just a number and they could care less if they lose you as a customer or not.
Reasons for Choosing Mindbody
Because Mindbody at the time was an all inclusives software with all the features I was looking for and the price was amazing when I first signed up in 2015.
Reasons for Switching to Mindbody
I outgrew schedulicity and needed more features that they weren't offering at the time.

Not as good as they think they are
I have been using Mind Body for 5 yrs. I am a single practitioner Registered massage therapy clinic. I am very computer savvy. I have used several practice management software and have contributed to UI development of two of them. At the time of sign up I had completed an exhaustive search on Clinic management apps. The two that came out on top for me were Mind/Body and another one. I went with MB because their salesman misrepresented their tech's ability to export my data. In the end, they couldn't do it. He also signed me up at the wrong price for my situation and it cost me extra $ for months. I decided to continue with MB without my previous client database. The back end of the software is extremely complicated and took quite a while to get things to work right. They seem to feel they are the best solution out there, they clearly haven't looked closely at the other providers and how my clients could interact with the software which is overly complicated, I have numerous clients who won't work with MB and call or text. (there will always be some who won't use it no matter the design) They are committed to using Flash (outdated) if you want to use an iPhone or iPad you have to use their apps instead of the site being HTML5 or cross platform compatible. It also doesn't work well with Safari. The CRM is poorly designed and their premium Soap notes are a joke in comparison to what the competition like Booker, Jane app, Soap Vault. and many more offer. Their Auto emails don't handle embedded HTML correctly and are completely broken at the moment and fill my email with content not linked to. You can't collate, print or export client notes or soap notes. I have to copy and paste my notes into word to create a medical-legal report.
Pros
Great 24hr customer service support. Wide range of features. Conventions, classes, and online training on how to use their product and market your practice better Reasonably easy to run your practice once you are set up. Good consumer awareness of the apps so you can be found through their network of providers. A good set of reports to understand and analyze your business.
Cons
Over priced. If a corporation can have an Igo they are conceited and not fully aware of their competition and how they are being bettered by other companies that didn't have to spend millions of dollars last year to deliver what they are offering. Raised my rates 60% in two price increases over the last 6 month period. The initial salesman made false promises. Overly complicated user interface both for potential clients and for service providers. No automatic booking assistance that keeps dead spaces to a minimum. Poor Contact Relation management compared to much less expensive software. Pushed expensive 3rd party upgrades for components that should have been included in the price. They don't have a well-developed place to create treatment notes, can't print, collate or export the notes you do create. Not PIPA compliant (Standards of patient privacy) Can't bill or track insurance billing and payments. Takes forever to fix something broken in their software. Promised features and then took 2-3 years to deliver features.

Great for automation for business, also a good tool for user
With a few hiccups from the user side (booking classes) and the up-sells I wouldn't jump to use this again in the future. Of course, with Covid we have no classes any longer but should we begin holding I may stick to the simpler Eventbrite booking platform. Mindbody just dominated the industry here in Los Angeles and although they have a good system, I don't think it's worth the costs unless you are a very large studio that sells out every class.
Pros
I have used Mindbody from both sides of the fence, one as a user as well as a business owner. What I liked most as a user is that it's simple to use and allows the user to get a gambit of various class offerings without having to go to various different websites or apps. If you're looking for a yoga class at a certain time, a certain location- it gets you there and lets you book it right from the app.
Cons
This is strictly from the business side, it's a little clunky to use and again this is from the business side- the costs did increase over time with the add-ons. This can be very problematic because the up-sells didn't necessary equate to more guests to the mediation studio we were working through.

MindBody for Small Gym
Scheduling calendar is simple, intuitive and the drag & drop feature is priceless! MindBody is a One Stop Shop for a small, service oriented business and it can easily be expanded as the company grows.
Pros
Easy to use, very intuitive. Set up took almost no time at all. MindBody allows me to schedule Personal Training Sessions and Group Training Sessions, deal with Point of Sale transactions and even track inventory. The software is flexible enough to handle multiple users and expand when needed. The software will also take into account independent contractors. Most functions are very user friendly and mistakes are easy to correct.
Cons
I use MindBody to process my merchant services and processing transactions over a weekend, especially a holiday weekend, can result in a longer than expected delay before the bank receives the funds. It can take time to put together information for sales tax, most of my business, 95%, is service related. All transactions are recorded, it's just a matter of remembering which questions to ask to get the correct answer.
Reasons for Switching to Mindbody
RhinoFit didn't have the flexibility I needed and wasn't as intuitive

No Longer Suitable for Music Teacher; Expensive for Small Businesses
I have used MindBody for nearly 15 years, both as an administrator and staff/user, and I used to work in software. I used to love them and, early on, I would frequently recommend them to colleagues - the deployment phase was exceptional. However, they are not the company them once were - nor is their software as attractive, simple to use, or innovative as it used to be. The user-interface is very tired-looking, they are focused on up-selling to bigger clients who can afford and ignoring the smaller clients of which I am one. (Their costs are £100-450pcm basic, plus an additional £199 pcm for an almost essential mobile app, which puts it well out of range for a small business. Probably, importantly, the functionality is also possibly geared around larger yoga, hair-salons, gyms, etc. I am a music teacher. I think it's time I looked at a more tailored music teaching option.
Pros
Excellent support at deployment stage; good customer service response times; very friendly staff; used to be market leaders; possibly good functionality but only available at premiums packages
Cons
Old-fashioned user-interface (very web v.1); very expensive; limited functionality compared to competition (good functionality only available at premiums packages); current business model seems to be selling 'tailored' mobile apps at £199 pcm, which we all know is off-the-shelf code painted a different colour and without enough modifiable options to justify the expense). No longer market leaders; unaware of competition; mixed staff knowledge (their recent expansion means too many employees have severely limited knowledge, and I frequently get passed around 'experts' or stuck re-explaining my issues).
Reasons for Choosing Mindbody
I chose MindBody 10 years ago when there weren't many better alternatives or industry-specific alternatives. There now are considerable options for music teaching software so I fear I must bid MindBody goodbye...

Way too expensive for what you get. Currently the online booking App displays doesn't work
Not great. I have reached out to support twice in the past month regarding the issue with the App showing all the wrong appointment times and patients being unable to book. As this is the primary function of the software (and 5 times more expensive than my last software) I told them I need to get out of my contract so I can get a product that works, and they so far refuse, Even though they admit the App is broken. Their response is they can just remove my business from the App. (I pay for this, I want the features.) It also often takes Support several days to respond to support requests, which is very frustrating when you're having a issue. This Software is definitely not worth the $260 a month. I was paying $50 for Acuity and it was a better product, and I will be switching back as soon as I can get out of this contract.
Pros
It has a lot of features if you are able to figure out the quirks of the software. The Mindbody App can be really nice, (but right now mine is broken and is limiting the ability for patients to schedule.)
Cons
First off, there is no trial period or Demo that allows you to play with the software and soft launch for you to test to make sure it works for your application, and they force a 12 month subscription. A lot of things they told me the software could do, that it does not in fact do. I learned the hard way that this system is geared much more towards classes and not services. A lot of features I was told to work are things like the waiting list feature, but that is only for classes. (it was a huge reason why I picked the software.) The software can be really clunky and is way too finicky. I have used 4 or 5 different booking platforms in the past and this by far is the least user friendly. The services widgets that go on the website are nowhere near as modern looking as the class widgets, the widget on my website looks like it came straight out of Windows 95, which on a nice designed website looks terrible. The biggest issue, that has apparently been going on for more than a month is that the Iphone App apparently has a bug that has caused my office's availability to show completely wrong times to book. When I log in under the patient app it shows times available for booking that I am not even in the office for. When a patient goes to book one of those times a error pops up. I had several patients reach out to me for a matter of weeks telling me they were having issues booking which I thought was user error but Mindbody confirmed it is on their end.
Reasons for Switching to Mindbody
I thought I was moving to a better system, I was wrong.

MindBody is almost all the software you need for a gym or studio
Overall, MindBody is great and I don't think I've even used half of the features after several years of regular use. There is a way to do anything, and tech always provides good help.
Pros
There is a wide variety of ways that you can structure contracts and payments. The feature that allows you to attach PDF documents to each client helps towards operating in a more paperless manner.
Cons
Refunds and returns are a bit confusing. The product could also be improved with a better attendance system. They should improve the attendance feature. The sign in app apparently doesn't work and we have used a different sign in software.
Reasons for Switching to Mindbody
MindBody offers more features for Gym memberships including the ability to set up recurring memberships via ACH bank automatic withdrawal.

Great Interface, Difficult to Navigate, Addt'l Charges, Not Customizable
MBO functions like you'd expect a very large, very vast business to function - tons of features that you pay for but only a portion of which are usable or easy to access/understand. Super inflexible for making changes or to accommodate any customization. Customer service is nice and easy to access, a recent change to their credit. They also have their app dialed in, which was a huge win for us.
Pros
Super streamlined UX for the branded app Easy to reach customer service Great analytics dashboard for quick status updates
Cons
Charges kept going up for no apparent additional value All add-on functions come at additional cost Website integration very poor; no store option Functions/features buried in an oversaturated back-end; back-end not very intuitive Lack of customization on basic features, like booking window hour opening
Reasons for Choosing Mindbody
Was obvious choice, leader in field.

Too expensive for what it does
I was using mindbody to replace acuity for scheduling my yoga/fitness classes and coaching client. It turns out that it has a lot of glitches for the users and on the administrator side it's overly complicated. It also doesn't have some of the features that I was used to (or perhaps I couldn't find them). For the cost of using this software I expected lots of bells and whistles, but they all cost more. I am a very small business trying to grow and have gone back to my previous software, Acuity.
Pros
The app is the one thing that is great about this product. I think it's why there are so many users.
Cons
The cost is far too high for a small business such as mine. When you factor in the exchange rate as well, almost my whole profit was going to rent and scheduling software.
Reasons for Choosing Mindbody
I chose it specifically for the app to make it easier on the end user side

MindBody Software is Mostly Great
Honestly, software is software these days. But my experience with MindBody is that the team of people they have behind the scenes is absolutely phenomenal. They just put on the most amazing in person event called Bold, and I was so impressed I already bought my ticket for next year. They also do a yearly training on their software called MindBody University, and I have heard great things. I'm hoping that once I attend, I will fall in love with the software as much as I have with the people.
Pros
It has a lot of features that I need to run my business, like reports, memberships, and online booking for clients.
Cons
I do not find it intuitive, and sometimes it's glitchy and inconsistent.
Reasons for Choosing Mindbody
It came recommended from my mentor.
Reasons for Switching to Mindbody
I needed more functionality than it provided. Honestly, I also tried Booker, Full Slate, and Massage Book.

Expensive But Good for Some
Used this software for 5 years and had excellent results. When our locations downsized it was overkill for us. If you are willing to pay the money it is a lot of product.
Pros
This software is perfect for those who are marketing large quantities of products or services. Very customizable. If you learn all the functions of the product it can be very helpful. Reporting is top notch. You can almost pull any metric that you can think of. Ability to link to bar code scanner. Can link multiple locations together. Can also easily transfer inventory between locations. Very good scheduling functions that are available by person or by resource. Excellent online scheduling features.
Cons
Pretty expensive in the long run especially if you have multiple locations. You have to purchase a separate program for each location. This system can be overwhelming with all the bells and whistles. If you don't set up every product just right with reorder quantities and minimums and maximums, you cannot use several of the features. Definitely requires a very detail-oriented, intelligent person to set this up correctly.

Not keeping up with the times
It's disappointing on the whole, because I see it as a decent booking system with potential, if they kept up with the times and listened more to their users. It seems to be the biggest player in the scene still, but I feel that this is changing slowly.
Pros
It offers a robust system, that gives you the power to schedule group sessions, 1-to-1 appointments, sell retail products, manage staff hours, extensive reports all in one place.
Cons
Over the 6-7 years of using it, nothing much has changed except the increasing price. The account manager assigned to us only contacts us to sell us new things, super friendly, and mysteriously disappears after selling it. We asked for help/clarification afterwards and were ignored. The user experience is not good for our clients, we are constantly having to troubleshoot problems for them and apologising for the confusion. The look and feel is clunky compared to other systems nowadays. It feels like they don't care to hear about their business user's feedback.

Small Businesses Beware
For the first couple of years it was fine. It was easy. It took a little bit of time for my students to get use to the program, but then it became very easy. Once we had the massive price increase it was REALLY hard for my business because not only did I have to find a new platform, but MINDBODY also housed all of my packages, package counts .... it was a horrible mess for MONTHS. I would not recommend this company to any small business company OR anyone who wants or expects quality or even GOOD customer service.
Pros
The software was very easy to use, loved that I had my own ap. Made booking for my clients very easy and made the appearance of my company look and feel welcoming, inviting and legit.
Cons
I was with MindBody for over 3 years and then they restructured their company. The sent a letter out about a price increase that was "coming". When I received my letter of price increase .... it was not a PRICE INCREASE it was a gauge into a small business. It was a price increase of 300%. Not a type-o ... 300%!!!!! I called them multiple times and asked, begged them to adjust the pricing to help a small business. Their response .... "sorry its our new policy". The big issue was that I wanted to keep my existing app that was already created, already hosted and they wanted to charge me a ridiculous price to also keep my app active and online.

The Best All-In-One Practice Management Tool
Pros
I've been using Mindbody for years to run my chiropractic practice. Although it was the BIGGEST pain to set everything up correctly (ie import my patient info, inventory, staff schedules, price options, etc) once everything was set up, it's a very robust piece of software to run a health and wellness business with.
Cons
The customer service is TERRIBLE, the subscription is VERY expensive (not to mention it changes almost every year), and it is the WORST to set up correctly. If you set up the slightest thing wrong, it will take you an hour to figure out what setting needs to be changed. If you can get over those things, then the software is great.

Mindbody gets the job done, but we need better features
In general, Mindbody supports our business in a fine way. There are features missing and often clients complain about ease of use, but the competition is limited to this so the best we can get. It's fine for what it does.
Pros
Mindbody is a great software for a small wellness or fitness company that is just starting out. It provides a semi-easy way for clients to book, pay and see your schedule. It also has some good app options and a nice integrated marketing suite.
Cons
Mindbody is missing several key features such as double-booking options and the option for memberships is pretty difficult to use. MBO is very hard to train new people in using. It also doesn't have a great way to do waivers.

LIGHTYEARS BEHIND THE COMPETITION
My experience was $500 per month at two locations of nigthmares, frustration, and apologies for clients. I truly should have left them years ago, but don't like making clients switch POS systems more than once in 5 years, and I should have just done it sooner.
Pros
The only thing good about this software is the App on the customer facing side.
Cons
Customer Service, Pricing, Poor Interface, Difficult to Set Up.
Reasons for Choosing Mindbody
I left Mindbody for Fresha, and it's the best software I have used by a mile. Not only is the App smooth, defect free, attractive, and intuitive, it was also HUNDREDS of dollars a month CHEAPER! I honestly cannot say enough good things about Fresha. They continue to innovate and work within the beauty and hair industry to make the best product. Boulevard is a new up and comer, but even that I tried is far behind Fresha in value.
Reasons for Switching to Mindbody

Just don’t go to their Fitmetrix brand
We like MB (have used for 6+ years) but will look elsewhere now because of our experience with their Fitmetrix brand. We received hardware and within 30 days were supposed to set up our website and the wiring for the hardware. It was not nearly enough time to test everything and get it up and running. Now, 90 days later, when we see that it won’t be a good fit for our club, they won’t accept the hardware return. They are very disorganized and difficult to work with.
Pros
Fitmetrix (owned by MB) promised many things that they could not deliver
Cons
We like MB and use it for scheduling for our wellness studios and things like swim lessons and workshops. Fitmetrix CANNOT do the same things, so don’t go to that just to get heart rate training.

MindBody is an amazing app
Pros
I love how this software allows me to organize my appointments for classes alike. I will use this same app to schedule or cancel yoga classes and to schedule float tank or cryotherapy appointments. It make it easy to use this one app for all 3 things. I like how it easily shows how many credits I have for yoga. This app helps make my life easier. I love how I can also sync my mastercard to the app and it is simple to do transactions.
Cons

Expensive. Payroll feature sucks.
Features are lacking.
Pros
It's good for booking appointments. It's pretty user-friendly, but could be better.
Cons
The payroll feature sucks. Most gyms have trainers that will also teach classes and front desk. The software doesn't recognize that a person can't be doing two jobs at once. So staff are constantly having the clock in and out of different jobs (because classes, training and front desk all have separate pay rates). It's a nightmare. Furthermore, if you give someone a raise, it changes all of the historical payroll data. It's also annoying that their payment processing in Canada doesn't support debit cards. MindBody is a very expensive product...it seems like they could do better. As a gym, you are forced to purchase the more expensive version because the base model doesn't support gym check-ins, only appointments.
